Guest Reviews
- Stephen (9/5): Delightful stay. The house is well equipped and comfortable. - Heating - required additional payment for bags of firewood. There is plenty of firewood available in nearby forests that could have been cut to size of a tool were available.
Getting keys from lockbox required a coded which was on my phone, however I had to turn around and drive back into Oberon to get reception to access the code. then drive back again to open the door.
Possibly a few too many laminated sheets of instructions around the house?
- Katrina (10/5): - It was a nice cottage to stay in with my family. We really enjoyed the outdoor area. We had a fire each night and roasted marshmallows.
- Josephine (8/5): All in all the house is an enjoyable place to getaway. It is comfortable, warm, clean and tidy. - The place is lovely, it has almost everything you need for a short holiday in a country. It is home away from home. It is clean, comfortable and has good facilities.. The house provides almost everything that we would need as a holiday house. However, I missed the note that the water from tap was rain water. I had just finished my treatments (health problem) and the water caused some irritations on my skin, Luckily I brought antihistamine with me and afterwards boiled the water that would touch my skin from then on and bought bottled water for drinking.
Also, the location is alright except that the Great Western Hi-way was partly closed and the detour was unpaved road through the mountains which was very difficult.

- Nick (10/5): A great family escape. Warm and Cosy with all the comforts of home. Comfortable beds, stocked pantry - Stunning setting, short distance to town, beautiful views
- Shen (2/5): Very poor - Stayed 1 night without hot water and next morning didn’t have drop of water. We had to leave early morning.
- Nicolle (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing weekend! - We really enjoyed our weekend stay at Cooinda. Our host Carlos kept in touch with clear helpful messages before we arrived, then checked in again on arrival and after checkout, making the whole process very easy.
The house was just what we wanted: quiet, private, and cosy with beautiful nature views - the house is situated right on a main road but the traffic in this spot is very quiet and non-existent at night. We loved watching the nearby animals and lots of birds. Outside the house is a beautiful firepit area, with lots of plants and fun decor, plenty of stocked wood available, and table and chairs, perfect for drinks and snacks in the evening.
Inside the house had a super easy and fast heating system, whenever the house became a bit cold we could flick a switch and have the house toasty warm again within just a few minutes. In the living room, we found cabinets stocked with games and books which we felt were a thoughtful bonus. The beds were so comfortable, and the bedrooms stayed nice and warm throughout the night, everyone slept very well.
The kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed, and our dogs loved playing in the very spacious and securely fenced yard. Altogether, a relaxing, well-equipped stay that we’d happily recommend. We couldn't fault anything about our stay. It's hard to find a holiday house which ticks all our boxes and allows our dogs to join us too, this place is perfect for what we needed.
- Brad (8/5): A homely house in the countryside. - Extremely well equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed. Pet Chickens. Enjoyed the warmth from the log fire. The house was well insulated and stayed warm all day and night. Hard to get fire going with only large logs and small amount of kindling found. Blinds on back door rather hard to pull up.
- Heather (10/5): A very homely, comfortable property that suited our requirements. - We self catered our meals. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals. A couple of suggestions I would make is a 4 slice toaster and a larger toasted sandwich maker as the bread slices are now larger.
Another suggestion would be replace the old toilet seat and ensure there is hot water for guests to shower the night of arrival. We were unable to shower when we arrived as the cleaner had used all the hot water cleaning after the property after the previous guests had left earlier in the day.
Carlos was very friendly and helpful when we called him a couple of times for information.
- Emily (9/5): Superb -
- Maggie (10/5): A peaceful and relaxing short break in a cosy cottage. - I had such a lovely relaxing time at Cooinda. The cottage is so comfortable and spotlessly clean. I loved that I was able to create the ambience I was looking for with a roaring log fire at night time. I wanted a peaceful and restful time and that’s exactly what I experienced here. The small well cared for acreage is approx 9 km from Oberon and the chooks, which I nicknamed Pick & Peck, added a different dimension as I thoroughly enjoyed giving them a little bit of TLC.
Carlos was an excellent host and communicator and very response when I needed help with the wifi. He and his wife are both wonderful hosts and, as a solo traveller they looked after me very well. I was very happy to be able to stay another night. My plan is to visit again when the Jenolan caves re-open and I won’t hesitate to stay at Cooinda.
- Azadul (10/5): Excellent value for money. I will definitely recommend my friends to to stay . - Clean and tranquility. Host is wonderful and helpful beyond expectations. Perfect for family holiday with small kids. All inside amenities functional
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional - The house was very pretty on the outside and cosy and comfortable on the inside. The hosts were great and very quick to answer questions. The house had everything you need for a home away from home.
- Doug (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed at the Cooinda Cottage for a two night stay, just wish we could have stayed more time, I would definitely recommend this cottage for a stay in this area and surrounding area. Only 5 minutes from town this cottage was very comfortable and clean, the kitchen was well equipped although we didn’t do much cooking (mainly takeaway from the local pizza place) with plenty of entertainment in and around this cottage you’ll enjoy yourself here. Nothing, everything was excellent, we would definitely be back here.
- Vishnu (10/5): Exceptional -
