Guest Reviews
- helen (8/5): Cabin in the jungle surrounded by wildlife - Great setup for a family. Loved being able to walk the property. Breakfast was delicious. Hammock and outdoor patio was cute Lots of road noise from trucks
- Thomas (9/5): - Alles Nichts
- Ami T (9/5): - Staff was nice
Beds were comfortable
Amazing forest view Humidity smell in rooms
- Lara (10/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- Inga (10/5): -
- Leoncio (10/5): Excellent retreat, lovely people - Chocolate tour and breakfast were delicious, easy access to clean river and beautiful nature. A bit close to noisy road, but eases at night
- Anna (7/5): 2 eggs breakfast fot 188 dollars - Garden 1) Our villa Cacao was not made of wood like on hotel photos, it was metal sheets construction. So rainy night was noisy because of metal roof.
2) For 188 dollars breakfast (2 eggs in omelette and tiny pieces of fruits) is a robbery.
3) In our villa “hot tub” was a cold giant bathtub. All photos attached.
4) breakfast served at 8am. Imho it is too late.
The garden is beautiful, people are nice. But unfortunately it is overpriced place.
- Foy (10/5): -
- Katharine (10/5): Eden - Fabulous, detached, self contained bungalow/lodge. Very comfortable big bed. Lots of space, including outside private terrace with hot tub. Good breakfast choices. Friendly staff We loved it all!
- Jill (9/5): Great experience and chocolate tour was great too! - Remote yet close to town. Lovely cabin and surroundings. Traffic was loud at times, but didn’t seem to bother us too much!
- Dania PD (9/5): Descanso - Lugar rodeado de naturaleza, me encantó
- Jenifer (9/5): - Very nice place, with great view into nature. The staff was extremely friendly, specially Mrs. Li made us feel at home all the time.
Lots of colourful birds visiting the property. Several Iguanas and amazing Tucán. Trucks on the road can be pretty loud.
- Carmela (10/5): Great place to stay close to Arenal. - Eden Bungalows is close enough to Arenal town but far enough that you don't get the horde of visitors that flock the area. Our bungalow (together with 3 other bungalows) is surrounded by tropical plants which include gorgeous heliconias, alpinias, and tall trees. It is spacious for 3 adults and had enough electric plugs to charge phones by the bedside. There's a wood rack with hangers for hanging clothes as well as a "bench" for placing luggage and such.
The bathroom was simple but had solid wood counter and shelf space to accomodate our toiletries. At the back side of the bungalow is a covered patio that has a sink, small fridge, coffee maker, butcher block counter with cabinet underneath that stored kitchen/dining room essentials. A small table and chairs (good for 4) was provided as well as a hot tub and an outdoor shower. Beyond the roof line is a planting of large alpinias (Zingiber family) and tall heliconias that provided some privacy to the space.
The restaurant/breakfast area (attached to the was a few minutes walk from bungalow. The bar sitting faces the river which was framed by large trees, vines, and all sorts of tropical palms and shrubs. On the day that we had an early breakfast, the "resident" toucan named Horacio came by and entertained the guests with his "friendliness." There's also a resident sloth which we spotted up on the tree close to our bungalow.
Eden also provides chocolate and coffee tours. My husband and I were suitably educated and entertained by our guide Nelson. Just something for the "light" sleeper: The bungalows are built below the road level. As such, traffic noise from trucks and motorbikes can be loud. However, we decided not to overfocus on this. After a long day of driving we were quite tired and by the time we fell asleep on our first night and subsequent nights it didn't bother us any longer.
Maybe because the bungalows are way down, the air felt still. We washed some clothes and hung them over the open weave chairs in our back patio, hoping that they will just be damp come morning. Alas, they were still dripping wet. After 2 days, they were still damp with a smell of clothing that didn't dry well. There were one or 2 thin shirts that we put on a hanger and hang on the curtain rod facing the air conditioner (split type with low to high speed fan setting) set on maximum fan speed. Within an hour, the shirts were dry. Placing a ceiling fan in the back patio to help move the air not just for those who choose to wash some clothes but simply to make it pleasant while sitting outside.
- Santa (9/5): Wonderful Stay with a View - This place offers a magnificent view through the enormous terrace windows. The sense of peace and quiet is truly remarkable. Being situated right next to a cocoa field, the bungalow provides an immediate and palpable feeling of closeness to nature. Highly recommended for a tranquil escape!
- Nicolas (10/5): Un rêve. Allez-y.
- Figone (10/5): - Great food and kind staff. Beautiful properties/ accommodations
- Emily (8/5): Authentic rainforest experience on family run farm - Family owned, bungalows are private, great open air dining area w delicious breakfasts overlooking river, very accommodating, humble staff eager to please, great chocolate tour. Rooms much smaller than in photos, bath towels very small, road traffic VERY loud at night. Large trucks driving very close to room with loud gears. Hard to sleep at night.
- Mary (10/5): Would 100% stay here again. - Great breakfast. Wonderful staff that went out of their way to provide the best experience. Beautiful rooms tucked in a jungle setting. Lovely outdoor cafe with delicious drinks and wonderful views. Coffee and chocolate tours right on sight. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our trip thoroughly.
Carlos arranged side trips, dinner on our garden patio and at a great restaurant nearby, Bar Restaurante Valentin’s. 1) The property is right on a busy road and road noise was very high at times
2) The rooms could use more hooks to hang wet towels and clothing.
- Vityesz (10/5): A Must-Visit Cocoa Farm and Nature Retreat - An amazing retreat nestled in the heart of a cocoa farm and rainforest, where nature surrounds you at every turn. Enjoy a breathtaking view of the river from the cafeteria as you savor your breakfast. The staff is exceptionally kind and accommodating serving you small presents. And don’t miss the fascinating cocoa tour—it’s an experience to remember! The road can be a bit busy at night, but it remains manageable. (Rather listen the jungle's noises.) On the plus side, the farm benefits from excellent accessibility.
- Aliyah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Quarrie-howard (5/5): It was peaceful but the room could have been better - The room didn’t seem finished, poor lighting and the bathroom drain wasn’t secured, insects kept crawling up the drain, also no rags were given in the bathrooms
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Dorit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Szecsenyi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evraets (8/5): Good breakfast, nice people. - Very good people, attentive to your needs. The cheaper wooden bungalows are probably the better option. We stayed in the fancier bungalow (white paint interior with roof pool). It is 2 cargo containers put together and felt somewhat claustrophobic inside. Close to the highway. Diesel trucks would sometimes use jake brakes to slow down. but that was primarily during the day.
- David (8/5): Loved it and highly recommend for a stay not far from La Fortuna - Stunning room with beautiful bathroom spa bath. Staff were lovely and the gardens are magical. We did a chocolate tour with Yari as our guide. She was a wonderful guide and making chocolate was fascinating and delicious. So special! Sadly this lush paradise is next to a busy road which is noisy with passing trucks. They do provide ear plugs for sleeping. Don’t let this stop you visiting!
- Keara (10/5): A beautiful place - The little bungalow is beautiful! I loved the outdoor seating, the lighting around the house, the shower gel, the shampoo and the pillows and bed were super comfortable. I loved being welcomed with chocolate and juice. Honestly, there was so much to love. Everything contributed to a beautiful, relaxing experience. Apart from that, the staff are extremely kind and warm and helped me plan my time there with recommendations and helping connect me to tours. They were also extremely easy to communicate with at all times. Lastly, all the meals I had there were delicious and the property itself is a marvel. Hope to come back!
- Salini (7/5): Good - It’s very tropical There were few lizards in the room that made us uncomfortable
- Wendy (9/5): Thanks for the warm hospitality! - We loved our stay on the farm! Everything was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the plunge pool on our deck. They delivered breakfast to our room each morning which we appreciated so much. The setting is lovely, a view of a river and more birds than you can count plus we heard howler monkeys in the trees. If mosquitos like you, be sure to bring some Deet. There aren’t screens on the doors so we had to be vigilant to keep them out of our room.
- Sandeep (9/5): Superb -
- Saunders (10/5): Beautiful sanctuary and boutique chocolate tour! - Beautiful sanctuary just minutes from La Fortuna. The breakfast was incredible and the chocolate tour is best we’ve experienced in Costa Rica, especially led by Cesar. Cesar is the reason we are back to Eden for the second year in a row. Our son is already confirming that we are returning again to do the chocolate dance!
- Andra (9/5): Really nice option if you like nature! - The bungalows surrounded by nature were beautiful. Especially if you like the sounds of nature at night. The breakfast was very nice also. The chocolate tour was very fun and we even saw a sloth doing his own thing on the property.
- Brandon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Casey (8/5): Great atmosphere, loved the tour. - Animal life - a sloth came within 10 feet of us. We also enjoyed the bed arrangement as each person got their own. Lots of ants, road noise
- Bryan (10/5): This organic chocolate farm is a home owned family business and is a quaint little place to stay. The staff was extremel - The staff on this property were absolutely amazing. No complaint’s everything was great
- David (9/5): Great family organic farm in a convenient location in one of the nicest regions of Costa Rica - Family owned and staffed. Great service. Wonderful breakfast. Beautiful farm location on a small river. A working cacao farm. Some highway noise but not too bad. Modern but bungalows with first class amenities in the rooms
- Ludovico (10/5): Exceptional - Immersed in nature, lovely stuff, tasty breakfast and amazing cocoa tour!! What a great stay we had. Can't wait to come back! The house was a bit small for 5 people, but not a big issue .
- Carol (10/5): Fabulous, would absolutely come again. - The staff are Very informative and welcoming. Breakfast was scrumptious. We went on the Chocolate tour with Cesar, he was an incredible guide, very interactive and knowledgeable. Grounds are immaculate, price was very reasonable, staff very accommodating 😊. Road noisy at night with transport trucks. Recommend a white noise machine to distract.
- Sheila (9/5): Friendly eco resort. - Beautiful location by the river. Great opportunities for bird watching right from your balcony. Nice breakfast made to order every day.
A/C worked very well much appreciated on a hot humid day. Shower and plumbing is typical Costa Rican. But adequate. We had a unit with a cool shallow plunge pool. Lovely after hiking Arenal. Despite being close to the main road it still felt very peaceful. Very few mosquitoes at this time of year at least. Lack of bedside table or anywhere to put my spectacles
- Lauren (10/5): Perfect authentic farm stay near major attractions! - It was beautiful and enchanting in every way. Breakfast was delicious, the staff was so kind, and the trails were beautiful. Loved it all!
- Jennie (6/5): Nice location, but bungalows were a bit rustic - The staff and the overall setting was lovely They were doing construction on another bungalow right next door to ours- noisy! The WiFi was super patchy. The accommodations were modest, fine- but we had a bay flying around our room!! (Not nice!)
- Ai (6/5): Pleasant - I love the cocoa trail that also leads to the river. The morning breakfast with the beautiful views was delicious. The staff was friendly. The bed was not sturdy and the mattress was uncomfortable. The sheet was really thin. I guess if comparing to camping its a luxury. The location is next to the highway,so expect loud motor from trucks throughout the night. Insects are part of the farm, therefore it's understandable.
- Robert (9/5): Just a beautiful place to stay - we wish we could have stayed longer! - Very good breakfast, we chose traditional Costa Rican. Beautiful location, beautiful rooms and grounds, friendly and helpful staff.
- Sara (9/5): Superb - Loved spending the night amongst cocoas plants! The staff were really friendly and helpful, and made us an early breakfast so we could get on our way in the morning.
- Ludens1975 (8/5): A relaxing 3-days stay inside the cocoa farm, under the sounds of nature. - Located inside a cocoa farm with many exotic trees and plants. The bungalows are beautiful, big, comfortable and modern. No hot water inside. Need to use the outside shower.
- Johannes (10/5): Best Bungalo with garden ever! - Wow! This place was exceeding all of our expectations! The room is big, sparkly clean, large beds, great cooks (tasty breakfast), and the garden is the best… we had a room with outdoor kitchen and outdoor Jacuzzi we enjoyed a lot! And the price is great. I also like it that is it a bit outside of the super touristic area of La Fortuna (especially the town felt unsafe…). Everythis is just WOW!
I highly reccomand you to book the Cacao tour with them! So plan it in your calender:)
- Carrie (8/5): Very good - the property and staff were very pleasant and our room was well kept. the property had beautiful trails to wonder through as well. beautiful scenery & breakfast was delicious. We felt far from the main downtown area and it made it a little more difficult to go out to downtown at night. However, the location was peaceful and it was nice to unplug at the end of the day.
- Veranika (10/5): Exceptional -

- Chloe (10/5): Staff were lovely and accommodating. We had the best time in jungle paradise - Breakfast was delicious, highlight being the fresh juice provided. Everything was perfect, we have nothing negative to say
