Guest Reviews
- Roderick (9/5): - Another wonderful stay, with friendly staff, cosy open fires and excellent food. The buffet breakfast is a new addition with a good range of options.
- Bridgette (10/5): Amazing getaway location - Everything! Clean, friendly staff, great food 🙏

- DeeFea (10/5): Always a great stay - The welcoming professional staff, Location - short walk to town
Heritage atmosphere. Had a small solo room this time with shared bathroom.

- Paul (9/5): A second visit that was just as good as the first. - This is a great base for few days exploring the Yarra Valley. You can sense the care and investment that's been made here in the lovely old building. The rooms are simple, but stylish, with plenty of space, and some look out over the highway to the fabulous views beyond. Welcome was warm, and the restaurant busy with a decent menu that suited nicely after a day walking. They didn't serve midweek breakfast, but there are great Warburton cafes a few minutes' walk away along the old rail track (now a cycle way). Great terrace to sit outside with a drink and watch the sun go down. Like much in the area, things can close down quite early, including the bar. Check-out feels a bit soulless as you just leave your key in the door and drive away ... it would be nice to say 'good bye'!
- Shirley (9/5): A little gem - The staff were so wonderful and helpful, making our stay pleasant. It was a great place to stay, great atmosphere, cosy. Just a short walk into town. Will definitely stay here again.

- Guo (4/5): I was given a room facing the dinning area, just up to the bar. It had been very noisy the whole day. I went to the rece - Good location and clean. The bar and dinning area is very noisy. I had been shutting the window, yet still got affected.
- Emily (10/5): - Staff outshone the property. Reception service staff always had a smile on their face and even gave us some tips on how and when to swim in the yarra!
- Declan (10/5): - I don't usually leave reviews on hotels I stay at, But for what was a cheap overnight stay, the facilities and room were brilliant for the price and I'd definitely come back again for an overnight stay!
- julianne (7/5): Lovely except the above issue - Location, food and service Couldn’t use the shower-scalding hot or freezing cold water couldn’t be regulated. Weren’t offered any discount even though we upgraded to have our own bathroom and shower. Room really wasn’t worth $320 per night because of this and its size
- PRECITA (9/5): - Staff are very friendly, place is very clean. Will definitely stay here again.
- PHILLIP (8/5): Utilitarian. - The atrium. Stairs. No signage for the alternatives.

- Shiwantha (8/5): Pretty good for an overnight stay ans awesome location plus staff. - Awesome location, closer to attractions and cafes.
Friendly staff This hotel is quite old and likely needs a renovation. Probably it’s part of the charm.
However, the shower and toilet are particularly dated. It’s difficult to get a mild or lukewarm water temperature in the sink or shower. Furthermore, there’s no shower curtain so water splashes all over the bathroom floor.
- Mary (9/5): - Lovely old hotel with loads of character. Loved the dining room with the view over the river. Good location being only a short walk from town and start of the rail trail. Excellent place to start the rail trail ride. The staff were friendly and helpful.,We really enjoyed our stay Wish we had booked a mountain view room.
- Monica (9/5): Loved it so much I've already rebooked for the long weekend next year - and this time for three days - Location, cleanliness of room, AMAZING shower, hot hot water, great food, pool table, air con, friendly helpful staff, beautifully renovated, not too noisy after 9:30pm on the Friday, perfect for runners, considerate fellow guests, close to everything. Multiple dining rooms & delicious food!! Bathroom mirror was a bit high for me to see into.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Great location and really lovely staff who seem to love their job - My husband and I had a wonderful weekend away staying at the Alpine Hotel Warburton.
We were welcomed and checked in by Dylan who was amazing, a real credit to the hotel for his friendliness, professionalism and knowledge of the hotel and surrounding area.
The restaurant offered great food and a vibrant atmosphere, meaning we really didn't need to leave the hotel during the evening for food or entertainment.
Breakfast was great value and set us up for the day.
We will certainly recommend this hotel and will come back again as soon as we can. Can't think of anything we did not like
- Paul Loughnan (10/5): -
- Simon (7/5): Pleasant stay - The staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel room was clean and comfortable although a small bar fridge wouldn't go astray.
The food onsite was tasty albeit a little expensive (e.g. parma $36), but there's not too many other options around if you're wanting to drink and not drive. That said, we did have a pizza which was well priced on Friday's specials for $25 For guests staying in the hotel, a discount on food and drink would go a long way to enticing people back.
- Daryn (8/5): -
- Catriona (10/5): - Friendly welcoming staff
- Nicole (3/5): A good location however it was not worth the price we paid and the 4+ star rating. - The location was good and the river walk was directly across the road. The room had minimal furniture, there was no
Mini fridge and although a kettle was provided there was no where to fill it unless you went to the shared kitchen. The bathroom, although clean was very small and there was not much room between the wall and the toilet. The shower was terrible and the water was either scolding or cold.
- DeeFea (10/5): Alphine stay - Located walking distance from town and riverside across the road
Historical building and comfortable stay with friendly, professional staff
Free parking
View from window Noisy patrons in courtyard
-they eventually left at a reasonable time
- Vikki (8/5): -
- Sean (7/5): -
- Luke (10/5): -
- Justin (10/5): -
- Paulin (10/5): - The staff were amazing The toilet was dirty in the morning
- Georgia (9/5): -
- Agnes (10/5): Beautifully renovated heritage building stay - Great spacious ensuite room with river view, comfortable beds, dining table for two and smart TV at the end of the village across from the river in a beautifully restored heritage building. We even had direct access to a shared balcony. The downstairs pub serves amazing food, probably your best bet in the entire village! Shared balcony and corridor can get noisy with kids running around.
- Phynea (8/5): Met expectations - Beautiful property, great food, very nice rooms.
- Carmen (2/5): Not up to standard for what we paid - No breakfast
- Lilibeth (10/5): Friendly staff, clean hotel - Near to the park , shops and beautiful nature None
- Eliza (9/5): -
- Adam (7/5): - dining room and outside areas were nice and comfortable. Food was good.
- Cindy (8/5): I do love the staff and the welcome feeling staying at the Alpine plu the shower was amazing -
- Catherine (10/5): Very memorable and truly exceptional. - Breakfast location was excellent and a pleasurable experience. n/a
- Hutton (8/5): - It's a great place The noise from the restaurant early in the morning.
- Mei (8/5): A great location for those riding the Lilydale to Warburton bike trail - The Alpine Hotel has a lovely ambiance with heaps of charm and character. We booked one of the few rooms with an ensuite and found it comfortable but basic. The bathroom was small but the shower was excellent. We rode from Lilydale station and were delighted to find the back yard of the hotel is actually right on the bike trail—a great location! It was also an easy (100m) walk into town for breakfast, shops etc. I'm sure the cooling worked, but we couldn't figure it out so slept with the window open which let in the cool air. The room we had was small and had few horizontal surfaces. A desk or book shelf would have helped as there was no where to put anything. An extra hook in the ensuite would have been useful
- ANNA (7/5): - The location was the facilities My room was facing the inner courtyard and since people were dining there it was very noisy. The window wasn’t closing properly and the one glass window in any case wasn’t really keeping the noises away.
- Rod (10/5): -
- Vicki (8/5): - Staff were fabulous. Very clean room. Lovely atmosphere in the hotel. Beautiful sheets Bright light outside door kept me up at night. Softer hall lights at night would be great. Mattress was too soft. Hot and cold water hard to get right in shower. Almost dangerously hot at times and when someone used water near your room I think.
- Farah Fatin (10/5): Overall was excellent. Worth the money - The breakfast was nice especially the butter🤤 the location was excellent. From check in till check out, we’ve got nothing to complain. Staff were friendly & helpful. During our stay, the electricity was turned off few times but not that long. It’s not a big deal for us during a day but at night, it’s a bit annoying. But that was it.
- Leo (7/5): - The staff were very helpful when the airconditioning did not work and found us another room.
Lockable bicycle storage. Loud pub rock playing on a loop from 11am until after 9pm (when we asked for it to be turned down) was very intrusive, and surely not necessary in this lovely, quiet and otherwise peaceful mountain environment.
- Christopher J (9/5): -
- Christopher J (8/5): -
- Liang (5/5): Not so bad - Good location, food The room must be less than 30mm, approximately 25mm. Not same as in description 30-35mm.
- Sara (8/5): -
- Rodney (10/5): -
- Billy (10/5): -
- Stuart (9/5): - Lovely property in a great location. Restaurant’s food selection and quality was excellent.
The staff were extremely helpful
- Rachel (10/5): Had the best time exploring! Great for kids. - Amazing location, great food and drink, lovely town!
- Taylor (9/5): -
- Cindy (9/5): - Breakfast on the Saturday morning was great 👍🏼
- Louise (9/5): -
- James (9/5): Old school - in the best possible way - It’s old school. Single rooms with shared bathrooms etc. But it’s immaculately clean and cared for and the staff are excellent.
I like that Tuesday was “locals” night where they get a discount. After a frenetic week in the area with day trippers and the like they deserve a break - it also indicates a community focus by the establishment.
Lots to see and do in the area. I accidentally locked myself in the toilet! The staff were there in a minute to free me, so I’m laughing about it now.
- Gudonis (10/5): While we were there it snowed in Warbuton - The location and the staff was excellent Nothing
- Ian (8/5): -
- Alison (9/5): Yarra Valley Gem - A gem in the Yarra Valley - over the road from the river (which we could see from our room) - breakfast was superb
- Aidan (10/5): Fantastic! - Enjoyed it very much.
Thought the pub below would be loud - but it really didn't disturb me too much.
The shared bathroom was very clean at all times - and the room itself was neat.
Fantastic breakfast staff, too. Very pleasant. The shower pressure definitely wasn't the worst on the trip - but certainly wasn't the best.
- Sleight (10/5): The most charming, gorgeous hotel. - The staff were amazingly attentive. The porterhouse was a little gristley. We were compensated very well though.
- Cindy (10/5): -
- Bonnie (10/5): Heaven away from home - We had the most relaxing, beautiful time and felt like we were a world away from Melbourne! We had dinner and breakfast in house to make the whole experience feel even more lux and relaxing. Thank you to all the staff.
- Wolf (9/5): -
- Diane (10/5): - Alpine Hotel has a lovely welcoming family friendly vibe. We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast and staying in a historic room. We had an ensuite which was lovely
- Wayne (8/5): - Location, staff Na
- Nikita (10/5): Really amazing hotel - The hotel was clean and comfortable. Our room's window faced the rail trail and the backyard. The view was breathtaking. The bed was very comfortable with really high quality bedding.
Bathroom was clean and had all the required amenities.
- Annabel (8/5): Highly recommend this property - Lovely historical building, renovated hotel rooms. We had the family room with a king bed and bunk and en-suite. It was perfect for our family. The food in the restaurant was excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The little communal kitchen was great for keeping food cool in the fridge and making a cup of tea. Location is at the start of the Main Street and by the Yarra. Lovely area to walk around. Nothing
- Marcus (10/5): -
- Judy (10/5): Attended a wedding so Alpine was convenient - Great location A bit pricey
- Shane (10/5): Highly recommended for a stay - The property was clean the staff we’re excellent nothing was too much trouble this is a very nice cozy place to stay the food was also very nice highly recommended this place
- Christopher (9/5): I would definitely stay here again - Clean and comfortable and great food and atmosphere Nothing
- Aaron (8/5): Great stay - Good beer prices and the food was sensational
- Neill (8/5): -
- Ebony (5/5): Sadly, disappointing - Hotel in a lovely location. Having an ensuite was ideal as shared toilets on other side of building. Room in general was clean. Access is poor - up a long hill to back entrance for rooms or through front of restaurant area and up stairs.
Windows in the room face the outdoor terrace of the restaurant. Everyone could see straight into my room.
Lovely idea to have the restaurant beneath and rooms on second level, however failure to mention or advertise loud music occurring on the night I was booked was a big disappointment.
Hallways very dimly lit. Very grateful I booked room with ensuite as shared bathrooms on other side of the floor.
Lady who greeted me at reception was very blunt and unapproachable.
- Vincent (7/5): -
- Cindy (10/5): Love staying at the Alpine, staff are excellent and I am made to feel at home here - Extra towel
- Jack (10/5): -
- Chiling (8/5): Unforgettable - We stayed in a tidy and elegant room . The beds and linens were comfortable. The shared bathroom and kitchenette were clean and convenient.
We appreciated the kind staff who helped us access wheelchair. I didn’t notice it’s a heritage building without elevator when I made a booking in rush .
We enjoyed the stay in the end . Thank you so much. No
- Bree (9/5): -
- Sandra (8/5): Would stay again - Location and restaurant on site Room was cold, heater could have been put on before our arrival
- Ip-Winfield (7/5): -
- Jolene (9/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Angelica (6/5): - The price was expensive considering the noise in the hotel during the night. Too much noise coming from other rooms. Needed more privacy
- Riccardo (8/5): -
- Greg (7/5): -
- Gerrard (8/5): Accommodation facilities were clean and well presented. Hotel compendium and check-in flyer detailed. Out-of-hours rear - Location and accessibility to the town’s main road Car parking on arrival was at a premium when checking in but it improved greatly after business hours
