Quiet enough but you'll still hear the honks from the main road, nothing earplugs can't fix even for a light sleeper though. Comfy bed, hot water, AC and fan, TV : unbeatable quality price ratio.

A very good and decent behaviour by the caretaker. Looking forward to stay here again during my next visit to Agra. Only 800m to Taj East gate including 450 m of taj green pathway Although no organised parking but the caretaker personally ensured car is parked properly within a CCTV coverage
• Roland (8/5): - The location is fantastic for visiting the Taj Mahal. It's about 20 minutes on foot. The host is great and was very helpful. Internet and hot water were fine. There's not really anything I didn't like , but as I'm a light sleeper , the choice of a balcony room wasn't the best for me. As I'm finding out, most places in India don't have double glazing.

• Julie (8/5): Hôtel à quelques minutes du Taj Mahal - L’hôtel est idéalement situé, à seulement une vingtaine de minutes à pieds du Taj Mahal. Le quartier est nouveau, on y trouve des petits cafés et restaurants sympas à quelques minutes seulement. La chambre choisie était petite mais propre, et le lit était très confortable. Le petit déjeuner servi était tres copieux, servi avec le sourire. Le personnel et le propriétaire sont tres sympathiques. Je recommande !
• Lara Adriana (6/5): - Wenn wir nur die Zimmer bewerten würden, dann waren wir insgesamt ganz zufrieden. Es war relativ sauber und komfortabel. Die Dusche war heiß. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig, man bekam jeden Tag etwas anderes vom Personal aufgetischt. (Wählen konnte man nicht) Wir hatten große Probleme mit dem Personal. Es war echt schrecklich. Schon vor Ankunft störte uns, dass man das Geld vorab über einen Link schicken musste. Und das, obwohl man seine Kreditkarte bei der Buchung hinterlegt hat. Uns wurde keine andere Möglichkeit wie z.B. Überweisung angeboten. Damit fühlten wir uns unwohl. Ein Tag vor Ankunft teilten wir der Unterkunft unsere Check-in Zeit mit. Diese wurde bestätigt. Bei Ankunft jedoch war unser Zimmer nicht fertig und wurde renoviert? Das Hotel wusste doch dass und wann wir kommen. Wir mussten also warten. Den restlichen Tag war es durch Renovierungsarbeiten so laut, dass wir uns nicht erholen geschweige denn unterhalten konnten. Das Beste kommt. Gegen Abend wollte das Personal nochmal in unser Zimmer, um zu renovieren. Sie boten uns zwar ein anderes Zimmer zum Aufenthalt für die Zeit an, wir fühlten uns jedoch sehr gedrängt und als hätten wir nicht die Möglichkeit nein zu sagen. Wir mussten also zwei Stunden warten, weil wir unser Gepäck nicht alleine lassen wollten. Die Arbeiter ließen alle Türen offen, sodass extrem viele Moskitos ins Zimmer flogen. Wir konnte die ganze Nacht nicht schlafen, weil wir die ganze Zeit gestochen wurden. Es war so schrecklich! Ich übertreibe nicht, wenn ich sage, dass um die 30 Moskitos im Raum waren.

Le propriétaire a eu la gentillesse de nous attendre jusqu’à 22h30 pour le check in. Le jeune homme du petit déjeuner était très bien également. On recommande fortement !

• Kamilla Nunes (9/5): Excelente café da manhã - Excelente hospedagem em Agra. Conseguimos deixar nossas malas antes do check in e explorar a cidade. Fica a uma curta caminhada do Taj Mahal ( uns 20 min a pé). Fica a uns 3 min a pé do restaurante Good Vibes café, onde comemos todos os dias. A cama era muito confortável, tv smart. O café da manhã era excelente, com comidas da índia e ocidental também. Funcionários , especialmente o menino que fica na recepção e faz o café, eram muito atenciosos. Escolhemos um quarto com varada e foi muito bom. Conseguimos um serviço de lavagem roupas com o hotel por um preço muito bom, eles também me ajudaram a achar uma senhora para me vestir com o Saree ( também por um preço bom). Odor de esgoto no banheiro.

Our rate included breakfast and dinner, and the meals were hearty, plentiful and delicious. Location was perfect - on a quiet street and walking distance to Taj Mahal. Nothing!

• Daniel Duarte (9/5): Tranquilidad en Agra - Lo mejor es el personal, siempre dispuestos a ayudar en todo (compra de entradas, por ejemplo) aunque el personal que suele estar en el hotel no hable fluidamente el inglés. Las habitaciones son amplias y las camas cómodas. La limpieza está bien, aunque le falta una vuelta, al igual que a las instalaciones en general. Está a 15 minutos andando del Taj, perfecto para ir por la mañana al amanecer. El desayuno recién hecho es correcto. Es un poco difícil encontrar a gente en recepción en ciertos momentos.

• Paul (7/5): A little disappointing - Our experience at the Shivalayaa is perhaps a little different to most others as we had very little interaction with the people that run the homestay. We were met at the front door by a man who I assume is the owner and who then proceeded up the stairs at a pace whilst I tried to keep up carrying 3 heavy bags. We were then shown to our room, given water and left to it. Shortly afterwards I realised that our room did not have the balcony that I'd booked, I found that the shower didn't work and used towels had been left lying in the bathroom but I was unable to find anyone around to speak to. Fortunately I was able to fix the shower myself (a blocked limescale filter in the shower rose) and we decided to stick with the room anyway as we'd already started unpacking. The only other time we encountered this man was when he knocked our door the following morning and told us to get breakfast. We did meet a young man on several occasions during our stay who served breakfast and he always seemed friendly and willing to help. On a more positive note the room was a reasonable size with a comfortable bed, ceiling fan, air conditioning, a kettle/cups/coffee/tea and a TV. Behind long curtains (where I'd assumed there was a door to a balcony) there was a window that didn't look outside and which made the room very dark - good for sleeping but it would have been much better to have some natural light in the room. The bathroom was a decent size and had a good hot shower, with shower gel and shampoo available in dispensers. The included breakfast had a good choice with fruit, cereals, eggs, toast and Indian food. Overall our stay at Shivalayaa was comfortable and good value for money. No balcony or even an outside window although I booked a double room with a balcony. Shower didn't work until I fixed it, used towels left in the bathroom.

Dans la rue des que vous sortez vous avez deux TukTuk, dont un électrique avec conducteur barbu (top!)

Views from the room were not very good and, as in most of Indian hotels, the shower was no separated from the rest of the bathroom so it kept wet for a long time.

Ha addirittura rimediato a un mio errore, avendo prenotato 2 stanze, avevo richiesto la colazione solo per una. Al momento del pagamento ha offerto la colazione a coloro che non l'avevano prenotata dimostrando attenzione al cliente e grande senso di ospitalità. Grazie! La biancheria da letto non pulitissima e la dimensione della camera, molto piccola.
• lauren (10/5): I would recommend - It was clean with a nice hot shower. The staff were friendly. It was down a side street so was nice and quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. It was a short 15-20 minute walk to the Taj. They gave me bottled water and there was also tea and a kettle.

• Ryan (8/5): Clean bedroom, close to Taj and restaurants - Walking distance to the Taj which is realistically why you’re coming here. Clean modern bedroom with a nice shower. Good tv, we watched a movie in bed with no issues. Room has no window despite the curtains in the photo. There was also no terrace which is mentioned on the listing.
• Tim (9/5): Superb - We spent two nights at Shivalayaa and I can only recommend it. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming. Only the room could be a little bit bigger for two people and a window would be nice. But nonetheless, very nice accomodation.

First I was impressed on the photos they posted, but when I arrived and saw it myself, I was surprised, it's not the same on what they show on the social media. Don't expect that much on this hotel. One thing I was upset is that they ask me to pay extra for my food, since we have a free breakfast, I ask one guy from the hotel if we can take the breakfast early since our transfer is at 6am and we need to leave the hotel at 5am but they couldn't arrange our request so I spoke to the guy who checked in us on the arrival and said yes we can have the dinner instead since they can't provide the breakfast.

• Celine (7/5): Good - We only stayed one night. The room was stylish and comfortable, as in the pictures. The AC and wifi worked well. Overall we had a nice stay and the staff was very nice (reception and breakfast). The only problem was the noise from the street -- it might be different for other rooms, but ours (the one with balcony) has a direct connection to the street with very poor insulation. On normal nights it is probably fine, as there is not much circulation in this particular street at night, but when we were visiting there was a party nearby with very loud music (not the hotel's fault!)

I think because of where our room was positioned we could hear some construction work during the night. Earplugs would fix that though.

The balcony is nice too and overlooks the back alley. Breakfast had lots of choice and eggs cooked to order, as well as Indian choices we had fruit and cereal. It’s within walking distance of the Taj Mahal so very convenient Nothing, they really went out of their way to ensure you had a nice stay.

It was an excellent breakfast! So much choice. The room was the best we stayed at in India. Glass above the door made the room a bit light - not a major problem though.

We had 2 dinners and breakfasts during our stay - the menu selection is very good, prices very fair, and the food delicious. Most is not cooked on site because the great food takes too long for a small homestay. Instead it is brought in to order from various nearby cooks and each item was delicious. Much better than crap tourist restos11 . All was good as expected.

• Josse (10/5): Best Accommodation Near Tajmahal - The Property is located in quiet Locality, very near to Tajmahal. One can easily reach to tajmahal in 10 to 15 minutes. Tuk tuks are also availble easily to Reach other major attractions of Agra like Red fort & Baby Taj. The Host Mr Manish is a helpful one, he helped us find nice restaurants around. the Breakfast provided was also good. We will certainly reccomend Shivalayaa to Ohers.

• Ros (9/5): Superb - Great location within an easy walk to the Taj Mahal. Amazing breakfast. Very clean. No hot water on my last day but overall very good.
• Macs (10/5): Good value, good location in a well-managed guest house. - Breakfast was good quantity, cooked fresh. Cereal, toast, eggs of your choosing, fruit and a choice of tea, coffee or Masala Chai. Guests were able to eat before setting out for the day or on their return from sunrise at the Taj etc. The host (Minesh) was attentive and available to answer questions and provide advice. The property is well-managed and the rooms have, tea, coffee, cookies, candy and ample water. Located in a quiet tree-lined side street. Located close to the Taj Mahal, Metro, Agra Fort and local eateries. Nothing.

• Vanessa (8/5): Very good - The man who seems to be the owner was quite friendly, and cost wise the room is fine, and the breakfast in general was quite good. The shower had a draining problem and the water was not going through.
• Hannah (9/5): Superb - Big comfy beds, well placed for walking to the Taj Mahal for sunrise, they give you lots of food for breakfast! We did have an issue with lots of little beetles coming into our room under the balcony door but fixed by blocking the tiny gap between the door and floor
• Felix (9/5): 21€ a night is good value for money. - We paid 21€ for one night. Good value for money ratio. I had some questions that all got answered before and even I got help booking my next train. If you are only in Agra to see Tak mahal than that hotel is very good. Not sure if its the best to stay longer due to missing pool etc. But for 1 night and sightseeing best. Staff is really a 10/10! Clean also 10/10 Bathroom and AC etc could be newer but hey - price is reall fair The walls are a bit thin and you can hear people talk. That can be anyoing - in out case no one was loud in the night so it was okay.
• Matthias (10/5): Perfect located quite, clean homestay - This accommodation is located near the Taj Mahal, so that you can easily go by feet there and it is in absolute quite area. That is wonderful in the loud city. It is maintained perfect and very clean. It feels like staying in an european Businesshotel, but with the big difference that the host is like family, very helpful and with a lot of recommendations for Agra sightseeing-trips. He made prints for us, was every time super friendly and served a delicious breakfast. We can fully recommend this homestay.
• Cristina (10/5): Good quality-price choice in Agra - This one was a pleasant surprise. Run by an attentive and unvariably polite family, the place has nice, clean and surprisingly quiet rooms. Definitely better than we expected, specially for Agra. It is in a backstreet at a stone's throw of the road that takes you to the Taj Mahal East entrance, which turned out to be a nice evening stroll, also the next morning when we went to the Taj Mahal before dawn. The tv in the room had Prime movies, a ceiling fan and aircon, the bed was big and comfortable, the balcony was pretty sweet and we had a great breakfast by ourselves, both Indian (hollow bread wirh curry, jalebi) and Western (fresh omelette and toast, corn flakes and muesli available). There is only a single table for six in the dining room though. I don't see how they can make it work when several people are having breakfast at once. All in all, a solid choice. When you factor in the very reasonable price, even better. We'd definitely come back.
