Guest Reviews
- Judith (9/5): Fabulous stay in Freo. - This accomodation was very unique and right in the heart of Fremantle, such a fabulous location. We were on the 2nd floor and there were only steps up to get to the room. The lady in charge was very friendly and helped us with check in. The room was very quaint with a little balcony but quite small for 2 people to move around in. Breakfast of granola, fruit, yoghurt, juice and milk for coffee and tea was put in the fridge daily. We enjoyed our stay in this accomodation and the old building was so beautiful. I recommend to stay here. The only set back were the stairs as we were on the 2nd floor and getting the suitcases up was hard but coming down was better. We both had larger suitcases which took up space in the small room but other than that, it was great. We stayed on a Sat night and it was very noisy due to the location as Freo is in party mode on a weekend, so be prepared for that, if you stay on a Sat night. Other than that it was unique, comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay in the heart of the city.
- Melissa (9/5): - Goede ligging, zeer vriendelijke host, goed ontbijt. We kwamen te vroeg aan en mochten al in onze kamer. Ontbijt stond klaar in de koelkast waardoor we konden ontbijten op elk gewenst tijdstip.
- Alex (9/5): -
- Ian (9/5): Excellent and quiet location - Great location, nice and quiet, great character Room very small
- Iris (10/5): Sehr schöne Unterkunft, sehr ruhig und doch mitten, großartig - Tolle Unterkunft, super Lage, wir lieben es
- David (8/5): - Generous breakfast and tranquil location Staff member had a bit of grubby appearance
- Anna (10/5): Beautiful ambience, great location, excellent facilities. - Beautiful building A bit noisy at night from nearby music venue
- Georgia (7/5): -
- Saleigh (9/5): Great place to spend a night after flights - I loved that I felt so very safe behind locked gates at night when out on the streets of Fremantle there were so many people choosing to sleep rough. I was on level 2 and looked down over a gorgeous big courtyard with gardens and even a fountain
. The room was very quaint and cosy. I loved every aspect
- William (8/5): -
- Kirven (8/5): Cosy and private - Really comfy bed, nice bathtub, private, well decorated, perfect location and bonus point for the washing machine and dryer.
We didn't see any staff at all. Its an old building and the noise of the other rooms are pretty present, mainly foot steps from the room above. The balcony was full of flakes of the material from the balcony upstair
The breakfast was waiting in the fridge with no indication of the ingredients. Dairy, gluten.. we didn't touch it just in case.
We booked for two nights and they cleaned the room without notice which felt really intrusive.
- Tracey Lee (8/5): It was a great place to stay, but if you have mobility issues probably not the place for you there are narrow stairs to - The French vibe and the little balcony The chairs on the balcony need replacing as one was very rickety and the other one had a metal piece sticking up and made a hole in my new leggings!
- David (8/5): Euro feel in Fremantle - Location to main street and Fremantle docks was excellent. The room had a great deal of character and the history of the building added to the atmosphere. The room had a european feel and the breakfast was suitable to commence a full day of sight seeing. Room had a musty smell when first opened. Keep the french doors open to manage the musty odour.
Parking throughout Fremantle is metered. Freo parking in zone 11 is the best value in proximity to the accommodation.
- DENISE (10/5): A unique stay with a warm welcome on arrival. :) - It’s so unique and quaint. Even though you are in the heart of Fremantle it was surprisingly quiet at night. Everything was Amazing, wouldn’t change a thing.
- Kay Gomez (10/5): A cozy and quaint accommodation - It was cozy and spacious, and I liked the outside balcony. Enjoyed the Continental breakfast Everything was perfect
- Weaver (10/5): - We were made to feel so welcome by the lady at reception and everything was explained clearly re: facilities, gate times etc.
The room was amazing, clean and well stocked.
I've always wanted to stay at the Port Mill and was not disappointed at all.
Will be back for sure.
Many thanks No complaints
- Michael (10/5): -
- Paul (9/5): Fine - Both good Lots of small stairs but ok
- Gay (9/5): A very enjoyable three night stay - It was very well located to everything and their breakfasts were amazing! It was great
- Elizabeth (8/5): Great location. Comfortable stay - Breakfast was great. Perfect location. Bathroom may require a renovation. Few loose tiles and mould growing in shower. But it was functional.
- Pam (9/5): Very good - Breakfast was great
Just not enough if any normal tea bags More regular tea bags and a little more fresh milk
Couldn’t find light switch for bathroom for a while Maybe a sign showing where it is
- Bradley (10/5): -
- Stanton (10/5): -
- kelly (8/5): Was very nice - Breakfast was nice. There wasn't much indication on where to go when we arrived. We thought it was outside not inside the reception area. But after we worked it out finally. It was good
- Margaret (8/5): Lovely stay - Good location close to restaurants, markets and cinemas close by
- Martika (10/5): - Location The shower in our room, is leaking, from the wall. The water squirts out when the shower is on, n its not supposed to leak there.
- Louise (10/5): - The B&B was just perfect for our needs. The room was very comfortable. It looked rustic and romantic, and our balcony looked out onto a lovely, peaceful courtyard. The accommodation was close to the old part of Freemantle, which has a great market and is close to the Marina and Bathers beach. We were provided with a continental breakfast, which was left in the fridge.
We did not meet anyone at reception, but the booking instructions were very clear, we were given good information on parking, so personally, we felt this was not needed. I would highly recommend this beautiful B&B, and if ever we were to return to Freemantle, we would book again. There was nothing we didn't like, a perfect place to end our visit to Australia.
- Mel (10/5): We loved the central location and the beautiful surroundings of the courtyard and buildings. - We loved the central location and the beautiful surroundings of the courtyard and buildings. Breakfast was just right and the bed very comfortable.
- Tiina (7/5): - The room looked nice and the breakfast was fresh and delicious.
The location is fantastic and the building and courtyard and very sweet. Despite using aircon and the fan, there was something about the bedding that just made it very hot and uncomfortable. Plastic within the mattress protector or the doona, or both combined just didn’t work sorry for a comfortable sleep. We both agreed on this.
- Paul (8/5): Great location for visiting Fremantle and for Rottnest. - Very central location No real coffee for breakfast
- Sharon (7/5): Quaint with great location - The location The mouldy/musty smell as soon as you walked into the room
- Jonathan (10/5): Magical slice of Europe. - The port mill is like being transported to Europe for the night. It was all good.
- Johanna (8/5): -
- Nicola (4/5): If it weren’t for the lack of staff and communication it would’ve been a great stay - Very charming and great location Reception desk is not manned during the hours stated. Impossible to get a hold of someone who works there. We had to talk to someone through a ring camera and they don’t answer the phones.
- Danielle (9/5): -
- Sandra (7/5): Beautiful gardens but rooms in need of a freshen up . Lovely guy helped with our bags up the stairs -
- Tanya (9/5): - Location perfectly met our needs Bathroom door to room didn't close.
- Keith (10/5): - A great find! A lovely room with a very comfortable bed. AC and ceiling fan was most welcome as it was a hot day. The location is great as it is so walkable. Good advice was given about where to go, eat, park etc. We parked right outside after 5pm and paid the $7 evening fee and left before 9am which was easy and great. Continental breakfast on the balcony was nice. Highly recommended. Nothing
- Hannah (10/5): - Absolutely lovely place, beautifully set up, comfortable and well located
- Robin (8/5): - Great location, lovely B&B. Happy we were able to store our luggage the last day before leaving! Thanks so much! The rooms are very noisy. Woke up multiple times both nights because of the upstairs guests.
- Fortunata (10/5): It was a perfect Freo stay cay. -
- Brierley (8/5): -
- Robin (7/5): -
- paula (10/5): - Location and very nice stay

- Susann (10/5): Bra enkelt boende - Läget är fantastiskt
- Jean (8/5): -
- Leigh (9/5): Great for an overnight - History, location, breakfast The ceiling fan in the Leeuwin room was noisy overnight and a few signs of ageing in the room ie cracks
- Neale (8/5): Great location value for money - Clos to the heart of Freo Parking was a little awkward
- Lauren (10/5): -
- Cherylene (8/5): Was really lovely , very comfortable bed and amazing pillows . - It was such a beautiful character home old heritage. It was noisy all night long , sounded like a generator was coming on and off .
- Lauren (10/5): Cosy and Comfortable, in the heart of Freo - The breakfast was delicious. Beautiful and fresh. Check in and out was so easy and plenty of parking around.
- Lily (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable, safe and beautiful - The room was absolutely stunning, felt like a mini europe! The balcony as well as the gated courtyard was stunning and felt really safe! Would highly recommend to people and would definitely stay again! In such a perfect location too!
- Helen (8/5): Loved our stay. We've been before and will be back. - Loved the location, the beauty of the building, the cute balcony, and the comfy bed. There was water damage in the bathroom, one of the outside chairs was broken, and the sky light for the bathroom below allowed their light to shine up into our bedroom even though the door was closed.
- Johnny (7/5): Very nice! - Good location close to all amenity. Unique European French style accommodation makes you feel like you are in Europe. Its an older building so it is to be expected but it did smell a little musky / mouldy.
- Robert (10/5): Excellent stay in a charming property - Lovely property in a beautiful peaceful small complex. Highly recommended
- Dennis (10/5): - Location and outlook from the Leeuwin room over the leafy courtyard was unbeatable. Great wine bar adjacent.
- Anelia (10/5): - We are very happy with the service provided by the housekeeper.
- Marcel (8/5): Gut gelegen, schönes Gebäude, tolle Gegend - Lage, Innenhof Kakerlake im Zimmer, Teppich
- Vanessa (9/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): -
- Lucy (10/5): Charming, comfortable and full of character. - The location in Fremantle is unbeatable, it’s close to all the action but surprisingly quiet. The building is beautiful and eating breakfast on the balcony is delightful. There are some stairs but don’t let that discourage you, the lovely team will help.
- Robin (5/5): Good location, clean but privacy concerns - Clean, well thought out and generous size bathroom A little small with no lounge seating available and TV was too small, privacy was of concern also
Staff entered our room after check in to stock fridge whilst we were out, we were unaware that this would happen and as a result felt our privacy had been compromised.
- Stephanie (10/5): -
- Yu-ching (7/5): -
- Justin (9/5): Great spot, easy check in. Comfy room - Location is great for exploring Fremantle. Good size room and bathroom.
Great being able to stay in a historic Fremantle building as an opposed to a hotel.
- Tim (5/5): - Location and setting is perfect Noisy aircon rumble from behind the wall a real droning noise also walls are paper thin, could here people using the toilet in the next bathroom.
- Patricia (10/5): Great historic vibe and loved the view from the the top floor balcony. - The central location meant we could walk everywhere in downtown Fremantle. I found the steep stairs a little challenging with my arthritis knee. But this was my issue really. Perhaps a note before I booked could have been useful so I was prepared.
- Haskett (9/5): I have wanted to stay here for years and I really loved the experience. I would love to come back. - I loved the European style of the building and context. Loved the balcony on my room. Liked the space and layout of the room and the view. Also the privacy. It was surprisingly quiet. Loved the open French doors to the balcony. The staff member went above and beyond to let me check in early, got me soy milk and soy yoghurt for breakfast. She was super friendly and accomodating and looked after my luggage and made sure I had food I could eat for breakfast. She was awesome. I loved location of the property too. It was so central to where I wanted to go in freo. This was an awesome experience. Nothing. It was all great.
- Hovey (8/5): - Location Hearing the person next door have a morning wee.
- Gillian (8/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Excellent séjour dans un lieu plein de charme. - Tout était parfait du décor au confort Rien
- Haigh (8/5): - Comfortable beds, warm welcome, quiet space. Roof needs maintenance in bathroom. Upgrade shower to hand held hose.
- Amanda (9/5): Great overnight stay. - Location was excellent and rooms so quaint. Loved the fountain in courtyard plus bar next to front gate. No lift to get bags up to room.
- Avril (8/5): Quaint weekday stay in a beautiful setting. - Charming property and location was perfect. Luckily not a peak time for visit so parking right out front.
- Hazel (10/5): -
- Irene (10/5): Amazing - Super cute boutique hotel. Bedrooms are comfortable and have all you need. Location is superb. Just as a heads up, if you have big suitcases the stair is a little bit narrow.
- Kristin (8/5): Nice place, very special, needs some improvement. - Nice environment, beautiful old building, very special. Nice courtyard, birds singing in the morning. A lot of restaurants and cafes (for breakfast) round the corner. Close to all major sights. Room very small, unfortunally smelling not good. Not so clean. Breakfast should not be advertised because it is not really existing - and in fact, no space to have it.
- Georgina (10/5): Highly recommend! Stunning place just like you’re in Europe - It was such a beautiful boutique place to stay beautifully furnished and warm feel Lovely furniture comfortable bed and stunning out look
- Deborah (9/5): -

- Jenna (8/5): Delightful find, very happy with my stay. - Perfectly located near the Fremantle Markets, lots of shops/cafes, and the water. Lovely old building, beautiful courtyard. The room was clean and very comfortable with delightful decor and a lovely feel. Deep bathtub, mini fridge, kettle with tea/coffee, large comfy bed, little balcony which was perfect for morning breakfast but completely private so I could sit in my PJs. Breakfast daily was lovely - banana bread, yoghurt and freshly cut fruit salad, muesli, yoghurt, and milk/juice. Washer and dryer in the bathroom was an absolute godsend mid-conference!
Shampoo/conditioner/body wash supplied, along with a hairdryer. Iron and ironing board, wardrobe with hanging. Wi-fi was slow, but adequate for emails and socials etc. No microwave (a minor complaint). Bit noisy in the mornings when everyone gets up and going as it is an old building, so floorboards creak and the plumbing is loud - but this was not an issue for me.
Note for disability access: they specify that the rooms are not accessible and this is correct - stairs into the property and lots to the rooms, so if you can’t carry your suitcase up a flight or two, this place is not for you. However, the room was spacious and the shower was a decent size, taps had mixer levers, plenty of power points, aircon and fan.
- Chris Shaw (10/5): -
- Serena (10/5): -
- Janis (9/5): A cute and convenient property - Brilliant location. Very cute setting Perhaps a bit small
- Samantha (8/5): Nice place in the centre of Freemantle - Good location. Breakfast in the room was lovely, fruit, yoghurt, banana bread. Tea & coffee making equipment in the room. We arrived early and were able to leave our bags in reception. The room and balcony were a lot smaller than they appear on the photos. Noticed a cockroach under the bed on our last night.
- Carolyn (8/5): -
- John (7/5): Very enjoyable stay. - Very clean and a good central location. The fridge was noisy through the night and stairs were steep.
- Rodney (9/5): - Location and price Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Todd (10/5): - Excellent location right in the centre of town No dislikes
- Sievewright (10/5): - Superb accomodation in the heart of the city, yet quiet and secluded everything on doorstep, the room was super comfortable and supplied with, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, hairdryer, iron, as well as a little veranda, although no view it was nice to sit out.wouldnt hesitate in recomending Nothing
- CHIAN-YU (10/5): - 地點相當不錯 房間及環境相當優美
- Kali (10/5): -
- Olivia (8/5): -
- TS (10/5): Freo Gem - A beautiful old building, stylishly appointed. Great breakfasts and good room. We also had drinks & nibbles with the staff which was a lovely gesture. The shower floor was a bit slippery and the sink taps a bit stiff.
