Guest Reviews
- Ruth (10/5): Fabulous stay again for us and our pooches š comfortable with everything we would hope for in a home away from home ā¤ļøš§”š - Everything thank you š for us and our dogs ā¤ļøš§”š NA
- Rae (9/5): Comfortable convenient and warm. - The historic cottage had a special vibe- Our stay in Ulva Cottage made us feel we were re-living the life of Penola pioneers.
- An Nie (8/5): - OK... This really is an historical building. It has been refurbished so that it is clean and comfortable. The character of the original building is still there and adds only to the character. The whole property is fenced in and Dee allowed us to bring our little dog. He loved haivng the chance to run around outside in the garden. Everything that is needed for breakfast and eating meals is present. The only issue we had was that the instant hot water didn't work at first. We called the Dee and she took care of it very quickly. I really don't have anything else we didn't like.
- Amanda (8/5): - The house was really charming and very comfortable for our stay. Good location in town. We enjoyed exploring main street. No wifi at the house but you could connect to the town library wifi from the kitchen.
- Richard (9/5): Amazing heritage cottage with so much character, in the best location! - Breakfast provisions, location is awesome, just off the main shopping street, cosy cottage with so much character. Really comfy beds! Nothing
- Deborah (10/5): Comfortable and great location. - Well supplied, great breakfast options. Liked that there were plenty of glasses: water, wine and champagne and cups and mugs of different sizes. Had a few things like wine bottles that we werenāt sure where to put for recycling
- maria (9/5): -

- Glenda (8/5): - Ulva cottage is in a great location. Everything in Penola is within walking distance. The cottage is very clean and comfortable. A generous breakfast is provided. This is a very old cottage, which is very appealing, its fascinating to know you're staying in a cottage with so much history. The only downside, which can't be helped, is that there are different levels between the rooms. These are clearly marked, but a little hard for oldies with arthritic knees. There's a tiny rise between the 2 bedrooms which you need to be careful of.
- sue (8/5): Great house, great location and exceptional value - we'll stay again. - Centrally located, we walked the town and couldn't help but think how perfect this would be for people with children (adjacent to pool and park) with a fenced off yard. The house was cosy and had a lovely verandah to sit under and watch the world go by. Not too close to neighbours so no noise issues (from us or them!). We were impressed and will book again. Everything was as described and more - photos probably don't do real justice to how pristine everything was.
- Adrienne (9/5): Would highly recommend staying at this property. - Staying in a historical dwelling gave an insight as to the size of properties back in the late 1800's. Did not expect to have basic breakfast items provided, location of property was perfect right in the town centre and on a very quiet street. There was a good selection of vineyards to visit for wine tasting. If you felt energetic, you could either walk or ride the Coonawarra Rail Trail.
- Joanne (10/5): A peaceful and homely accommodation - The bacon could have been a little fresher.

Very comfortable and lovely to be able to stay in a piece of Coonawarra history. Dee, the host, was wonderful. Nothing not to like as the property description is correct. The kitchen is simple so don't expect luxury but that is part of the charm and not a problem at all.

The host was great to deal with, they left us breakfast supplies, best local eggs ever. The yard was fully fenced for our dog.

Dee was terrific to deal with from our first contact. The cottage was cozy, clean and close to all that Penola and The Coonawarra has to offer. There was a lot of information at the cottage for wineries, cafes, restaurants and dog friendly places highlighted. Dee provided, bacon, eggs, bread and milk for us and also treats for our two dogs. All of which was very appreciated. The garden was secure and very dog friendly, our 2 Cavoodles got to meet the neighbours and I think enjoyed their stay as much as us. - Kathy (7/5): Lovely house with everything you need including items to make breakfast. - It was interesting staying in an original old cottage. Close to everything. - David (10/5): A step back in time in the heart of Penola. - Staying at Ulva Cottage is an authentic experience of pioneer Penola - with mod cons such as heating and hot showers! The cottage was built but Alexander Cameron, a founding father of Penola and uncle to Australiaās Saint Mary MacKillop, who started her teaching order in Penola. The beds are cozy, the atmosphere is snug. A great place to relax. Wifi would be nice, but we didnāt miss it.
- Angela (10/5): We loved our stay in this adorable cottage in a lovely town and would definitely return! - The cottage was cozy and inviting. Very comfy lounge area and well set up. Adorable bedrooms, and lovely products in the bathroom. Excellent heating and great space for three adults. A lovely little breakfast was provided and there was a cute pack of treats for our dog. The whole stay was perfect and we all felt welcomed. The completely secure front and back area was perfect for our little chihuahua to feel happy and safe. The location is excellent. Dee is an amazing host. The master bed was a wee bit soft for our old bodies but it was fine for a couple of nights. And this is just a personal preference. We understand many people like a slightly softer bed.

We had a booking.com communication problem - lock box instructions did not arrive for two days after we arrived. However a wonderful collection of ladies in the town and information centre jumped to our rescue and resolved our check in with a bit of detective work!
- Walter (10/5): Fabulous! - Breakfast supplies were good. Location was excellent. The cottage was very comfortable as was the bed. The was a slight smell in the bathroom but it was not an issue
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (10/5): Wonderful stay in a charming historic cottage - An absolutely charming period cottage within walking distance of the town and some wineries. It was clean and comfortable but retained the historical features. Breakfast supplies were more than ample. We felt honored to be able to stay in somewhere so historic. We found the portable hotplate very slow and didn't heat up very well, we should have used the BBQ! This is nit picking because the whole place was amazing.
