Guest Reviews
- Aishwarya (7/5): - The staff and location Comfort of beds and the morning breakfast
- monica (10/5): -
- Royfried (8/5): - Best location. Very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast served across the street at a trendy coffee shop.
- eileen (10/5): Friendly staff with great recommendations for dinner. Lots of snacks. Great location. - Charming and lots of room.

- Kim (10/5): This in a Palace dating back to 1600 with beautiful frescoes and full of history. - This property dates back to the 1600’s with the most beautiful frescoes. The decor is very elegant the bed is large and very comfortable, well air conditioned rooms and there is an elevator. Breakfast is in a stylish restaurant 80 metres from the Palace. Our hostess is a wonderful lady & very kind. Our room was full of treats, sparkling wine, sweets, chocolate and various snacks. How often would you get sleep in a Palace. Nothing.

- Roberta (10/5): Un tuffo nell’arte!
Consigliatissimo!!! Spero un giorno di poterci ritornare.
- Maryellyn (10/5): Felt like royalty for 3 nights! - I felt like I had stepped back in time as soon a as I walked through the main gate. We stayed in the Cupid room and woke up in the morning to church bells ringing. I truly felt like I was waking up in my own palace. The breakfast provided was delicious and plentiful Daniela and her team were marvelous hosts! There were spacious sitting rooms that were elegantly decorated, and plenty of space to lounge. I can’t say enough about this place if I ever get back to Florence, which I hope I do this is where I will stay.

- Corina (10/5): Perfect vacation in most amazing Palazzo - Proximity to all historical visiting sites. The rooms are fabulous . Mrs Daniela who is the owner was the perfect host - unchanged experience as we visited 10 years back as well. As everywhere in summer- there were some mosquitoes in the room after opening the windows but the hotel provided anti mosquito devices
- Jose Tomas (10/5): -
- Anthony (Tony) (10/5): Fabulous location, and amazing breakfast at the most upscale neighborhood Café located right across the street from the - The location was amazing and the staff was fantastic. We stayed in the monster, huge big suite which was amazing but really too big for just one couple. The bathroom situation is really awkward. One has to go up four steps to a landing and then down three steps to the bathroom.
- Theodoros (10/5): -
- Iovan (10/5): -
- Zuzanna (10/5): Dream come true - If I could give 11/10, I would.
The most memorable place we’d ever stayed in.
Absolutely spectacular property, with a kind and friendly host. Thank you for an incredible stay and making my husband’s birthday so special. Nothing

- SFMOM3 (4/5): Possibly a nice place to stay in cooler weather - The location is fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed magnificent Florence. The palazzo is stunning with large palatial rooms and the two staff we briefly saw were helpful in recommending and reserving a restaurant for dinner on the first evening we arrived and booking a taxi for us when we left three days later. Beautiful cafe across the street offers outstanding breakfast. Our experience was nothing like other reviews. We can see how this was once a fabulous place to stay but it appears Daniela's days as a gracious, superb host are no longer. We did not meet her and most of the time there was no staff around at all. A bit eerie. While palazzo itself is stunning, it's also quite run down and dusty. We love and appreciate old properties but there are basics that should be functional/in working order. The A/C in our room was adequate but in the room we booked for our college age kids (the all white room with canopy bed depicted in hotel photos) -- which was positioned to us as an upgrade when we checked in -- the A/C was not at all adequate. in fact barely functional. Florence heat was hovering around 100℉ /37℃ so it was not a pleasant place to stay and near impossible to sleep. And while we had a working A/C in our room, the rickety old 1970s bathroom left quite a bit to be desired with a barely functional shower head and bath plug that didn't work so neither a proper shower or bath available. The bed and bedding were not as expected for this caliber of hotel and there was one small wardrobe unit with a few hangers but no other clothing storage, not even a luggage rack. There was a very cheap bottle of Prosecco in each room but not refrigerated and not sure the second room even had a mini fridge. The whole place looked quite neglected. Initially disappointed that breakfast is no longer provided at the palazzo and vouchers are given for a cafe across the street, our misgivings quickly dissipated as that cafe turned out to be the best part of our stay. The reception person who checked us in was friendly but left a few mins after we arrived and we saw no one else until our departure on the third day. I feel bad writing this review but wouldn't want anyone else to have the same erroneous preconceptions based on dated reviews.
- Dave (10/5): -
- Key (10/5): We really enjoyed this stay! It was very close to everything in Florence and was full of art. - A very unique experience. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a palace before.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - It was a beautiful surprise and highlight of our Florence stay! Highly recommend for those we appreciate art and history and want to have extraordinary experiences rather than staying in a hotel. Gorgeous place and will come back again!
- Zichang (9/5): Superb - Very convenient location. Hotel itself was good; rooms were spacious and very Roman feel in the room with nice decor. Lots of snacks too! The receptionist gave us good tip as well on how to maximize time in Florence and what to avoid! The only things is that it’s bit dark when we entered and would be good if they can make entrance feel more brightened with lighting and general facelift on the overall entrance/reception experience.
- Majid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tony (9/5): Superb -
- Nery (10/5): GORGEOUS property! - The property is gorgeous! We felt like we were in a fortress. It is centrally located to everything! We walked everywhere.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Good stay. - Beautiful spot. We enjoyed the breakfast at the included nearby coffee shop.
- James (10/5): A truly royal hotel experience. - Spacious room with a huge common book room and music room. Truly a royal experience living in a palace. Even fully booked, hardly saw anyone so almost like the entire space is ours.
Location was right in the center with easy access to our areas of interest (eg Duomo) and excellent restaurant within 10 minute walk.
Set breakfast was available at Le Menagere. Minor inconveniences like the road to the hotel was blocked at the Palazzo Medici Entry. Wish that the hotel proactively informed us of the alternate route to get to hotel. Taxi dropped us off at the corner and we had to drag our heavy bags for a short distance.
- Kathryn (9/5): A happy stay in an old awesome palazzo steeped in history with some fine fresco ceilings managed by welcoming owner and - The history, the owner Daniela and her lovely staff William and his cousin - all could not be more pleasant helpful and great to engage with At my age one has to be careful about an old building and steps and stairs. Not a big problem - just take care. Plus I was always helped with luggage.
- Indigo (10/5): Elegant & easy - Location was exceptional, rooms were beautiful and the hotel common areas (receptions, Reading room etc) had beautiful ceiling paintings. Would definitely stay here again! Nothing!
- Dilya (10/5): fabulous! - exceptional ! absolutely stunning room, friendly stuff, very close, walking distance, to all landmarks of Florence, delicious breakfast in one of them magical cafe Florence. Highly recommended for those who travel lavish. exceptional beauty!

The history and beauty of this palace and most importantly the host, Daniela❤️ The warmest welcome, it was like we were staying at our grandma’s home🥹 She even upgraded our room the last day to the most amazing room I have ever seen in my life. It was literally like a dream. For your honeymoon or your anniversary, this is the place to stay without any hesitation. The only sad thing was that we couldn’t stay longer❤️ -
- Ty (10/5): One of the most incredible stays if my life - You won’t have many moments in life to stay in a former palace filled with frescoes. The entire space is breath taking, and Daniela treats you like family from the moment you enter. Breakfast is top notch, great location, and we will be back N/A

My husband mentioned that he loved Peroni and I mentioned I enjoyed coffee the second day that we were there she showed up with Peroni gift for my husband and extra coffee for me. What a sweet person. We will definitely make that only place to stay in Florence from now on. Nothing everything was perfect

The breakfast was delicious, and the hotel owner was incredibly warm and welcoming. The hotel’s central location made it perfect for exploring the city.
Highly recommend!
- Beatriz (10/5): Fabulous!❤️ - We loved everything about it. It’s a Renaissance palace with frescoes from the 1600’s. It’s absolutely gorgeous, beautifully painted high ceilings, large rooms with several common areas with snacks to nibble on, perfectly spotless. Daniela, the owner greets you and treats you like family. Delicious breakfast, great recommendation for dinner. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. It was centrally located but so quiet and we had a beautiful view. I would live there if I could. We hope to return. Highly recommended Nothing

- William (10/5): Little palace centrally located - We stayed in the large suite and it was truly a palace. Space was huge and the staff were very kind and friendly. If you like art and are into history, this place is for you. None
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elisabeth (10/5): Exceptional - The host Daniele was very friendly! We were warmly welcomed and informed about everything important. The room in the Palazzo was exactly as we had imagined: high rooms, beautiful ceiling paintings, a lot of attention was paid to loving details. Authentic and right in the center of the beautiful city of Florence. Beautiful and romantic! We also had a great breakfast!
- Joanne (10/5): A gem in the heart of Florence! - This property is exceptional! The history has been maintained with beautiful frescos, and beauty everywhere. What makes this property one that we will recommend again and again is Daniella and her staff. Daniella is a beautiful woman inside and out. This is no job for her but rather a privilege. She is passionate about Florence and she makes suggestions of where to go and what to see. I can’t say enough about Palazzo Tolomei! It’s fabulous! Nothing
- Kathy (10/5): Loved the old world opulence! - Made us feel like royalty staying in a palace. Confusing time getting there but once we did well worth it.
- Suzanne (10/5): We only had a couple of days but crammed in the most important attractions - The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were there for our 50th wedding anniversary and were given a fabulous room. The palazzo was situated in a very good position for all the best attractions.
- Carolyn (1/5): Disappointed - Nothing Our stay at Palazzo Tolomei - Residenza D'Epoca was far from the luxurious experience we had anticipated based on its high ratings. Unfortunately, several aspects of our visit were disappointing and left us questioning the authenticity of the reviews.
Firstly, while breakfast was included in our stay, it was provided through a voucher system. This meant we had to walk down the street to a nearby café where we were restricted to a set menu. The limited options quickly became repetitive, making what should have been a delightful start to our mornings somewhat tedious. To top it off the restaurant staff were rude and the venue was full of flies.
On arrival, the staff made a grand show of turning on music in the music room to create an atmosphere, but this illusion was short-lived. That was the only time we heard any music during our stay. The music room itself was not maintained properly; the biscuits offered were stale and never replaced, adding to the overall sense of neglect.
The state of our room was equally disappointing. We were greeted with a bowl of spoiled fruit, and the complimentary water bottles had already been opened. The cleanliness of the room left much to be desired—the bath was dangerously slippery, the air conditioner fan was absurdly noisy, and the rubbish bins were never emptied by the staff.
The most frustrating aspect was the lack of air conditioning throughout the establishment. The host made a point of complaining about the cost of power upon our arrival, which might explain why the common areas, including the music and reading rooms, were stiflingly hot. After enduring 36°C temperatures outside, returning to a hot, stuffy environment was unbearable. To make matters worse, whenever we left our room, the staff would enter and turn off the air conditioning, ensuring that the room was uncomfortably warm when we returned.
The establishment also advertised Netflix as a perk, but unsurprisingly, it didn't work during our stay.
- Rona (9/5): Superb - Beautiful place, good location and very kind stuff
- Andrew (10/5): 3 nights in the wonderful city of Florence - Such a fabulous , historic place to stay. Very central, just a few minutes walk from the station and the centre of Florence. We were upgraded and had n amazing room. Everything clean. Daniela is absolutely wonderful and so helpful if you have any questions. Breakfast currently being served in a restaurant nearby but was good. Would highly recommend for something special.
- Jessica (10/5): A romantic getaway in Florence with a prime location, exquisite Tuscan breakfasts, and unique rooms. - Excellent location in the city center with easy access to the Duomo and main attractions. Our host, Daniela, was so kind and welcoming. Every morning she served us a large spread of delicious, authentic Tuscan breakfast in the dining room where classical music is played and you can admire the beauty of this old palace. We stayed in two rooms, each spacious and unique in design. We were upgraded to the suite and could not get over how truly remarkable the frescoes are in person. A must stay in Florence if you are looking for something special or romantic.
- Howard (10/5): Exceptional - Home Away from home
- Molly (10/5): Exceptional - One of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed. They upgraded us to one of their most beautiful suites “just because”, and it was the most medical place I’ve ever been! Insane attention to detail as well, amazing accents and facilities in the room, complementary items that really enhanced the trip, air conditioning, perfect location. We cannot WAIT to come back. Daniela and Riccardo were the absolute sweetest, and we are still thinking about them!! N/A
- Ross (8/5): Great Place, Great Location - Danielle did a great job hosting us; She would recommend a different place to dine for dinner everynight;
all of them were fantastic-- Small Family places! We rented the Luxury Suite, The bathroom was very nice but was 3 steps up to get to it. If you like walking up stairs to use the bathroom at night, then its OK.

- Milton (7/5): Very interesting to stay in a place that was in the past an important residence. - The breakfast was excellent.
The location is perfect. The access to the rooms located between the first and the second floor. There is no elevator and is hard for old people to carry luggage.
- Rachael (10/5): It was a beautiful hotel full of old world charm. Daniela, our host was very attentive and made sure we were comfortable - It was in a great location, close to everything. The hostess, Daniela, is pure love and clearly loves her hotel and the people who stay in it. She went out of her way to ensure we were well cared for. It is a former palace, so there are some stairs. They have added an elevator, but there are still a few stairs within the palace, just something to consider if you struggle with stairs. But I found them easy enough to manoeuvre.

This is not a hotel, it’s a historical experience!
The location is amazing, the hosts treat you like family, the room is large and clean, and the breakfast will own your heart. I think everyday about the amazing pistachio croissant!
One of the best places I ever stayed. Hopefully will be back again. That I couldn’t stay longer.

- Natalie (10/5): Wonderful authentic Italian Palazzo in the perfect location - Wonderful hosts in a truly authentic Italian Palazzo. So much history right there. You will not be disappointed. Perfect location in the historical centre. Daniella and Dario greeted us like family on arrival giving us a tour of the hotel, telling us about the sights and even booking us a local restaurant. Breakfast was an experience in itself, again the staff are attentive and friendly ensuring you have everything you need. Staying here really made our trip to Florence very special. We would highly recommend Palazzo Tolomei to anyone staying in Florence. Perhaps a new hair dryer for the room.
- Pedro (10/5): Amazing stay which I’m looking forward to repeating soon. - The property is very charming and well located. But as a most relevant point was the people component, everyone was exceptionally friendly and caring.
- Tom (9/5): Superb -
- Justice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alison (10/5): Traditional 'Party House' with endless 'wow' touches - Where to start.....everything was absolutely fabulous. A Florentine 'Party House' with many beautiful original rennaisance features. Danielle and her staff are the perfect hosts and we were incredibly well looked after there. Never stayed anywhere with so many 'wow' moments. The 6 course traditional Italian breakfast was amazing, prosecco in the fridge and a spread of biscuits amd sweets in the bedroom and shared areas. Went out their way to store friends luggage although they weren't guests. Nothing at all. Danielle had it all covered.
