Guest Reviews
- Emily (9/5): Superb - Great location, comfortable beds. Would book again.
- Grace (8/5): Very good -
- James (1/5): Unprofessional - Nothing Everything
- Hannah (9/5): I’d totally stay again! - Loved my stay here! Super comfy, clean, and had all the basics covered. The vibe was chill and everything worked out great.
- Stella (10/5): 👍👍👍 - Bloody good stay! Place was tidy, comfy, and had everything I needed. Easy check-in. Would happily crash here again next time I’m around.
- Huyen (9/5): Great location and good value for money. - It is close to the train station and 10 minutes walk to CBD. There are lots of cafes around.
- Thuy (1/5): Horrible Experience – Uninhabitable Conditions and Poor Support - Horrible Experience – Uninhabitable Conditions and Poor Support I stayed at this property in Sydney for 4 nights with my family, and it was an absolute nightmare. While the initial issue with the curtains was resolved, the plumbing system failed after the first night, flooding the bathroom and hallway with sewage. This rendered the bathroom unusable, and we were forced to endure the smell and unhygienic conditions for the remainder of our stay.
Attempts to resolve the issue with the property owner were unsuccessful. They promised to relocate us but then claimed no alternative accommodations were available. As a result, my elderly mother (nearly 80 years old) and the rest of my family had no choice but to endure unbearable conditions.
I deeply regret trusting Booking.com and their policies, which required full payment 4 months in advance under a non-refundable policy, believing this would ensure quality and service. Despite numerous reviews pointing out similar issues in the past, neither the property nor Booking.com has taken appropriate actions to improve the situation. This shows a lack of accountability and care for their guests.
Additionally, I contacted Booking.com for assistance, but their support was inadequate. They only promised to contact the property and failed to ensure a satisfactory resolution. Even though the property initially offered a refund for 2 nights, I still have not received the refund, and Booking.com has not stepped in to resolve the matter effectively.
This experience has left my family feeling deceived and unprotected. I urge future guests to avoid this property and carefully consider the lack of customer protection offered by Booking.com in situations like this.
- Agung (8/5): Very good - central location in sydney
- Sonia (1/5): Bad -
- Luca (1/5): Bad - This got cancelled 24 hours before we were arriving. I have paid and still awaiting a refund. Hopefully not a scam!
- Dominika (5/5): Passable -
- Paul (8/5): Nice place, in walking proximity to most Sydney attractions -
- Karin (9/5): A very comfortable place to stay with all you need for a home away from home. - Clean functional small apartment, in a great location. The steep stairs, this is a feature of this type of home.
- Maddison (10/5): We had a great one night stay. With 4 people it was perfect for what we needed. We wish we could have stayed longer - Loved the location of the property. Nothing.
- Arowe (7/5): Good -
- Joana (3/5): This place wasn’t that great - It was convenient the house was kinda gross especially the bathroom gets flooded easily. There were a lot of bugs but understandable because it was an old house. and we couldn’t check in early
- Angus (10/5): Exceptional -
- Niki (10/5): Exceptional - Very unique, location is great, short walk to bus and walk into the city
- Christina (8/5): Great for short-term stay in convenient location - Great location in walking distance to stores, public transport, restaurants, charming row house, nespresso machine with plenty of pods, charger adapters, inviting beds, well equipped kitchen, great internet speed, good space for family of four (teenage kids), able to drop off bags before check-in time, spacious closet in one of the bedrooms, very responsive host Could have been a bit cleaner in corners, under bathroom sink; no fans for bedrooms (got very warm), missing slat in window blinds (first light hits right at eye level), shower curtain needs replacement, house has great potential.
- Tim (4/5): Disappointing- poorly equipped, no cooling at all ie no fans/ no air con. Good location - Location was good No fans or air con - property was stifling. Mosquitos everywhere. Poorly equippped - no toaster etc. Couldn’t light the gas stove as there were no matches etc
- Allison (6/5): awesome with room for improvements - Best location CBD to tourist sites. Public transport available nearby. There can be some noise from the park opposite the road at night. It will be perfect if there are standing fans to improve air circulation.
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Sally (8/5): Great location, easy to find and comfortable. - Excellent location, plenty of space for all of us. Comfortable rooms and facilities.
- Aristide (1/5): Not a well kept house - we left early - Good location. Moldy shower, cracked window, no screens, no air con, bugs/insects, hot/stuffy rooms, bug bites, exposed electrical cord and tv remote didn’t work
- Henrique (8/5): Good value for central location in Sydney - Location is great, very close to transport.
Quiet street tree lined street.
Comfortable beds.
Good kitchen/bathroom.
Value for money compared to the rest of Sydney accommodation was very good. Not something that can be changed but, the stairs are very steep, pretty scary with little kids and if you go to the toilet (which is downstairs) in the middle of the night.
The TV didn't work, I think remote was out of battery.
- Caroline (7/5): Always happy to stay in this delightful suburb close to everything. Lovely weekend break! - Great location close to loads of lovely eateries and theatre. Easy access to CBD and harbour too. Friendly neighbourhood and easy walk from Central Station. It was quite hot and a fan or two would have been welcomed - as would a TV remote that worked.
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (5/5): Passable - no ironing board. Front door about to break. Toilet downstairs rooms upstairs but is a terrace
- Phillipa (8/5): Nice but could do with some fans when it’s hot. - Great location, easy walking distance to Central Station and the city. No fans or air con. Had to leave the windows open for air but there isn’t gauzes on the windows so mosquitoes got inside and pestered us all night. Also, towels had some stains on them (though they appeared to be clean).
- Hayley (8/5): Very good -
- Catalina (10/5): Everything was great and I recommend - Location very central. Beds and linens are comfortable. House is clean. Big space. Good shops and restaurants close by. Everything was great and I recommend.
- Hannah (7/5): Good -
- Aimee (2/5): Give it a miss - The location is very central. The wifi wasn't working (which also meant mo tv), which is a disaster if you're travelling with kids. We had to go to the public library to work :(
The house is spartan without even basics in the kitchen, such as salt and pepper, or a cushion to make the couch more comfortable. There wasn't even a garbage bag in the bin.
The security gate on the front door doesn't lock and the back door is just made of glass, which didn't feel secure in a neighbourhood with a high crime rate.
The powerpoint in the living room was detached from the wall, with the wires exposed. The blind in the front bedroom (which gets the early morning sun) was broken. There was a lot of dust on all the fittings, which played havoc with my daughter's allergies.
- Ada (10/5): Overall a great stay - had a perfect sleep!!! - House is clean and quiet, really had a good sleep during our stay. Beds and linens were comfy. Utensils and cookwares were present to use, you can cook too. Fantastic location, cafes, stores, and light rail nearby. No complaints. Recommended
- Nicole (6/5): Pleasant -
- Bienvenido (3/5): Not satisfied - Location near shops, transportation, tourist spots. No wifi
Defective window locks.
Not so secured
Dusty
Heating system
- Greta (8/5): Our stay was comfortable and enjoyable - The house was very clean and comfortable. It was close to the train station and a few cafes and restaurants. The sofa bed is easy to use and comfortable The stairs are quite steep
- Kinney (8/5): Very good -
- Robyn (8/5): Awesome long weekend in Sydney. Location was excellent, property was clean, tidy and beds super comfy. - Very clean and tidy and great location. Internal stairs are very steep.
- Russell (10/5): Excellent location and we were surprised how quiet it was. - Location is fantastic, and it was surprisingly quiet The stairs are steep.
- David (10/5): Everything went great. No complaint - Everything went great. No complaint. The kitchen is fully equipped. Perfectly located, you can just walk to the central. Very satisfied and highly recommended
- Marin (10/5): We liked that it is clean and very good value for what we paid for. Recommended! - Comfy apartment that is very spacious. Excellent location. Big rooms and comforable beds. We liked that it is clean and very good value for what we paid for. Recommended.
- Hans (10/5): Good apartment. Like in photos - The accommodation is what is shown in the photos. Good location as it walking distance to Central. Price good too for its location. Will be back
- Bernd (10/5): Would definitely stay again! - Indeed a good location. We liked that there are cafes and restaurants nearby that you can walked up to. Staff was helpful answering our questions about the apartment. Good price.
- Julie (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, comfortable and convenient accommodation. Very good value for us, we were 4 people that stayed.
- Mei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lily (10/5): Exceptional - A very good apartment. I highly recommend it.
Good value for money.
Easy and fast communication with the host
- Kifle (10/5): Exceptional - For sure it was a good price considering of the location. We didn't expect anything much about the apartment but we're happy with it. It was clean, good price, good location. Yeah thank you
- Xin (7/5): Good -
- Elaine (6/5): Pleasant - Good Location, walking distance to cafes and restaurants. The Stairs were very steep to the point of dangerous.
An elderly person would not be able to safely get up and down them.
The Bathroom was very cold and the shower over the bath isn't ideal.
- Nicole (7/5): Good -
- Mark (2/5): Disappointing for the money spent. Not good value. - Location No bowls for eating
No instruction’s for TV and heating
No iron no extra linen
No individual soap just soap in a pump
Very dangerous stairwell
Dirty shower curtain
Very minimal facilities for the money $300 a night
Would expect more luxury
A request for bowls was ignored
- Travelling (8/5): Very good -
- Leanne (3/5): Disappointing. Awesome it is not; it is ordinary since the negatives surpass the positives. - The location was good - approx 10 min walk to Central and some places like a pub and restaurants nearby.
The heaters and fake fireplace were definitely necessary. On arrival - no coffee mugs, no tea towel, light in breezeway leading to bathroom not working and only a flat sheet and a doona on the beds - contacted property manager and he delivered the items.
Bathroom: walk in a covered breezeway for access; mould on tiles and ceiling, toiletries were just body wash and shampoo, towels were stained with bleach, tap over bath leaks all the time, can't use half flush on the toilet
Bedrooms: one flat sheet and a doona. Doonas too small for the bed. Wardrobes poorly installed. In 2nd bedroom, can't fully open doors of the wardrobe because the bed is in the way.
Stairway very steep and steps were cracked and chipped. I realise that this is the style of the era of the house, but it is not ideal for older people or those who cannot go up and down stairs very well, particularly with luggage and having to use the toilet at night. We left our luggage downstairs.
Kitchen: Obvious 2nd hand cupboards - scratched bench top, poorly assembled, cupboard doors don't close properly. 6 plates, 2 bowls, 6 wine glasses and 6 glasses as well as 6 mugs (after requested). The electronic ignition for the gas cooktop does not work consistently, no microwave safe cookware available, couldn't use microwave because there was no turntable. No tea bags, no milk (notes state tea/coffee making), no sharp knives for cutting fruit or cheese or whatever, no wooden spoon
General: the outside is shabby and unkept, red lid bin missing. Property manager told us to put the rubbish in other people's bins!! Serious water leakage (during rain) in breezeway to bathroom which was also coming into the living room under the door. We had to put down towels to soak up all the water. Powerpoint to the right of the TV not attached to wall. No free to air TV channels available through an antenna- all access to channels require having an account for each one including the free to air ones like 9 now etc.
- Emmett (10/5): Great accommodation option ! - It was the perfect option. Really nice, clean, new accommodation, great sized rooms, very comfortable for a great price. The service was great too. We will definitely be back here.
- Darcy (10/5): New and comfortable house, generous rooms ! Location is handy! - For a 'functional' stay and at the price-point, the house exceeded our expectations.
The rooms are new and clean and the beds are comfortable. Nothing for now, will be back!
- Stephanie (7/5): Good - Excellent location, true to photos. Rooms were nice and big, comfortable beds No heating in the bathroom, so it was always very cold and foggy. Lack of kitchen gear, cups, knives, etc. Also saw some cockroaches running around
- Aota (10/5): A great apartment in a great location - The kitchen, living room, and bedroom are all beautifully equipped and decorated.
- Myles (10/5): Lovely stay at 32 Smith Street. Thank you! - Its very beautiful. You helped us a lot for our vacation. Listening to cricket, Sydney & my childhood, back to 19/20.
