Guest Reviews
- Lisa (9/5): -
- Gitare (10/5): perfect stay in an Animated room - Perfect stay The water dispenser of the bathroom sink is very low
- Jill (7/5): -
- Alexandra (5/5): - Was a very nice room It was a bit tricky to check in and out without staff present

- Guest (5/5): Fun setting, low value. - The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. There was never anyone at the reception so no way to contact a human. The photos online made the rooms look more elevated. The photo of the reception area looked livelier and nicer than in reality. Nothing in that area unless you like maid cafes. Was expensive for the quality and value. Rooms were more DIY and worn than in the photos.
- Tara (7/5): Awesome location, but style over substance. - Location is really awesome, great for connectivity with public transport and central Akihabara. Room was a great size and comfortably accommodated all of us space wise. Super clean rooms & well stocked kitchen with a full fridge/freezer. Strange set up. The reception area was manned twice for a small time period during our 5 day stay. There reference to 24hours is check in/out via ipad only. There is no cafe, just an unsecured space on the ground floor with table and chairs permanently unlocked to anyone walking by.
No table and chairs in room - but you have a kitchen??? We needed to sit in the empty ghost "Cafe" to eat or have a chair. We all smacked or heads multiple times on design features in the room, the buttom bunk doesnt have much clearance. Fun concept - style over substance, needs an accommodation designer to tweek the really interesting rooms, to make them more usable.
We had aircon controls that didn't connect to our air con - we were quite warm in our room (not great in the middle of summer). Instructions for everything in Japanese only.
The combined washer/dryer was helpful, but it didn't dry the clothes - needed 3 to 4 goes.
There is no one onsite to help resolve anything, kinda more like an air b&b.
We enjoyed our stay it was fun, again, location awesome. Would we go back? Maybe.
- Matthew (10/5): Most excellent stay - Really cool design. Nice to have a washer/dryer.
- Jodie (10/5): A cool, comfortable stay - This hotel is a little gem tucked away in a quieter area of Akihabara. The room itself was spacious and cool, the design was unique and really added to the stay. Facilities and amenities (washing machine, bath etc), were both great. A really good small hotel for a cool comfortable stay. It was a little confusing accessing the room but I sent an email and someone came to help within minutes.
- Pa (8/5): Very good -
- Lewis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Megan (4/5): Cool aesthetics bad functionality - Cool concept was most excited about this hotel being designed by artists, location was good Looking closer at the room, lots of scuffs on the walls, booklet and tray falling apart, very old. We wanted a quiet night in as advertised they had Amazon and Netflix however none of these worked, and the landing page was all in french so we couldn't even log out of whoever had changed the settings as that was locked behind a code, very frustrating trying to figure out how to login. No staff around and no responses to msgs or emails until 2am the next day. Really hard to get hold of anyone, we also had questions about luggage transport, we had some delivered and I had no idea what time anyone would be around, only came across a staff member by chance later in the afternoon.
Dryer also didn't work properly, kept saying there was an error and no matter I tried following the instructions, nothing fixed it and I ended up staying up late and getting up early to try and sort it out. No real instructions on how to use anything, from the air cleaner, TV, air conditioning and lights. Cool idea and aesthetics but fine details are bad, and hasn't been maintained well. Would not recommend.
- Rhian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olga (3/5): Poor -
- Alejandra (10/5): Beautiful room. Beautiful stay - The location was perfect and close to the Ginza line, pharmacy and a 711. Japan trifecta. The room was huge and included everything we could need on our stay. Washer. Huge bathroom. Blow dryer. Lived it. Couldn’t figure out how to use the heat in the room.
- Fatema (6/5): Pleasant -
- Samantha (7/5): It’s ok, but for the price I would go elsewhere - The room was big, it had a washing machine which was great and also a big fridge. The hotel isn’t really a hotel, there is not really customer service. There is no bar, no atmosphere, no where to hang in the evening.
The staff were very disinterested and made us sign in on the iPad and didnt really speak or give us any info about the hotel, room, area.
We only got bottles of water in the room once, when we enquired they said it’s a once off thing. Given the price of the hotel this was disappointing. No yakatas in the room either.
We had a very noisy family check in around 11pm the night before we had to get up at 4am to leave. They were talking very loudly in front of our door - didn’t know how to get into the room (ie no customer service) then their kids were yelling and running up and down the steps in their room, the noises vibrated through the room.
It is also very bright in the room at night as the blinds don’t cover the window space fully.
- Salome (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Kerrie (7/5): Good -
- Louise (9/5): Cool room! - I was in the black Japanese themed room and it was a pretty cool style, also big for a room in Tokyo! With some info about the artists in the booklet. Clean, comfy, quiet, the kitchen and washing machine were useful. Would stay again =)
- Jennifer (10/5): Amazing place! Would definitely stay here again with the family. - Great location close to the subway. Room was amazing - lots of room for a family of 4, impeccably clean, and very quirky/interesting. We loved it!
- Veronica (10/5): BnA Studio Akihabara; conveniently located to key sights, comfortable, unique and memorable - I was attracted to the prospect of staying in a convenient and popular location (Akihabara) and as soon as I came across this unique property (Art hotel), I knew I had found our Tokyo "home away from home". The room was spacious, with unique artistic features (as a small zen garden on the balcony, tatami floor seating for the dining table) and had a spacious bathroom, laundry facility and kitchen for home cooking. There were only about 5 rooms in the entire property which was between 7-10 minute walk from the main stretch of Akihabara. Transport options to other sights in Tokyo were easy to access. Staff were on hand for support as required, but otherwise it was a very casual facility. The back streets were quaint and charming with unique Japanese homes, shops, temples and shrines that transported you away very quickly from the busy and wide main roads that were a mere stone's throw away. The hotel was about a 10 minute walk south of Ueno Park's Shinobazu pond and 10 minutes southwest from the charming Ueno Ameyoko Shopping Street. I would go back in a heartbeat and see if I could stay in one of the other rooms for an equally interesting artistic experience. There was nothing I did not like about this property.
- Rebecca (10/5): Coolest place to stay at. Great experience - Spacious, clean, easy to find, great location the design and style of the room was amazing. Fully equipped with everything you need
- Leonard (9/5): Fun room - Fun and comfortable room. I was able to check in very early as the room was already available which was great after a long flight.
- Lewis (6/5): Not sure about the price, it's big though - The room was very big for Tokyo hotels and it looks as cool as the pictures, nice lay down bathtub with a pillow.
The kitchenette was nice, hot plate was very strong and helped take convenience store snacks to another level. Amenities are average, we had trouble with the keypad access on our room and ended up getting a physical key after a bit of messing around.
We stayed at both bna wall and bna studio, both ended up booked as 1 guest somehow which led to further costs on arrival.
Luggage storage at the studios is free before check-in but 2000yen if you need it after checkout
- Olivia (10/5): Nice stay - The accommodations were fantastic - the atmosphere was delightful and the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. Nothing
- Edoardo (9/5): Superb -
- The (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mullin (9/5): Fun, creative, Instagram worthy stay. - The overall design was quirky and amazing. Loved that the artists get a proportion of the room fee. My partner loved the smoking room. The lobby was often not staffed, but apart from that no complaints, we loved it !
- Achilleas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (6/5): An experience - Property was different to others we had stayed in. Very clean property and staff were friendly. For the cost it really wasn’t worth it, same price as a hotel with breakfast but unfortunately no breakfast included or water.
- Michelle (6/5): Pleasant - Bed was comfortable. Over priced.
- Sascha (9/5): Superb - The rooms were spacious, fun & clean. Modern and even with washing machine! Perfect stay! We had our 3 kids in another room and they had such a fun room too!
- Lee (6/5): Disappointed, maybe because of high expectations. See comments. - Room is cute and cleaning staff did a great job. The room is much smaller than I expected from the pictures. The bottom bunk is a health hazard in that it is very hard to get into and out of, and is impossible to sit up in. The top bunk is very hard to access because what appear to be normal steps up are really very narrow and short, forcing you to walk sideways. It was hard to find available plugs as so many things are plugged into the available outlets. There is no staff present at all - not just missing from front desk (they do warn that it is self-check in) but not even callable. The location is far from the heart of Akihabara, so is quiet but inconvenient. Maybe part of the problem was high expectations, but it was disappointing.
- Matthew (7/5): Good - We booked this hotel because of the artist connection and the location. Neither were as impressive as we had hoped. When we checked in, there was some type of news or other broadcast being filmed in the cafe/check-in/bar/luggage storage area (we could never really figure out what the downstairs was supposed to be) and it felt like we were in the way the whole time we struggled through what seemed like an unnecessarily long check in process. When we finally got checked in, we found that we got the least decorated of the rooms and it looked pretty dingy compared to the pictures. The next day we needed to store our luggage and there was a fairly hefty charge for this and luggage was stored right in an open-to-the-public area, but the bags were locked together. The access to the room is up a narrow stairway and the door code lock to get into the room took several tries and help from the clerk to get to work. The location is good but a bit further of a walk from the main attractions of the area than we anticipated. The room was big, the beds were comfortable, the art was OK in our room, but if you got one of the other rooms, it may be better. Would probably stay somewhere else next time. got unlucky with the least interesting of the rooms
- Kit (9/5): Superb - nice practical room layout for a family of 4, great bathroom and had a laundry set in room which was so helpful while traveling with kids, fun rooms to choose from, staff very helpful with our requests
- Shihhwa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (8/5): Very good - Great decor in room, kids loved it. The decor looks great but some things now well placed for function.
- Nathaniel (7/5): Good - Fantastic location Limited seating in room and more of a serviced apartment than a hotel.
- William (7/5): Good - Cool rooms, fun ideas, point of difference Check in process and reception is very informal despite the price tag per night. Luggage storage after checkout should be secure and included in the cost per night.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shaan (10/5): I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone, especially with kids! -
- Michaela (8/5): Very cool space with a story behind every room design. Nice and enough space for a family. - Liked the design, story and artsy feeling of the room, very nicely curated.
- Anne (9/5): Large room with nice bathrooms/laundry - Nice, large bathroom
Launder with washer and dryer Expensive, especially for a location several blocks from stations
- Bonnie (9/5): Amazing design and huge room! - The design of the hotel is great. Our room was massive and the design was so cool. It's a very small hotel which we didn't realise at the time of booking but we didn't have any issues. The location is an easy walk into the heart of Akihabara with a great taiyaki place at the corner too. The room could use a chair but otherwise it was great.
- David (3/5): I don't recommend it - The staff was very kind Out TV didn't work, some wires were missing on the electrical appliances.
The "art" felt a bit cheap... For the price, you can pay a real premium hotel
- Rachael (10/5): Funky yet functional, magical place - Phenomenal place to stay. The rooms are original, incredibly spacious, clean and whilst edgy they are comfortable. Would stay again in a heartbeat. The staff truly make this place magical. Not applicable
- Julie (7/5): It was a great experience but the location is a bit far from Train Station - The art piece itself the TV was not working
- Lou (9/5): Our room was spacious, funky, unique and a great place to stay in Tokyo. - Such a cool and unique hotel. Would definitely come back and try the other rooms. Mattress was a bit too hard for what I like.
- Intan (8/5): Very good -
- Jaime (3/5): I felt like I was in the basement of pee-wee Herman. - Ummm… it had a bed? It appeared unfinished, no staff, bright lights shining in windows
- Merlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jingke (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (1/5): So disappointing. - Interior art fantastic and the bathrooms were great. loved the location. There was urine in the bed when we arrived. The sheets had not been changed from the previous guest (only the bed made). Towels were very dirty. The person at reception was aloof in communications. He was apologetic for the urine and towels and remade the beds personally. It was very off putting for us.
- Marco (6/5): Pleasant -
- Emma (9/5): So cool! - We had the coolest room! Be far the nicest bed we slept on over our whole trip. It's a self contained studio with a kitchen and washer/dryer. When we went the downstairs area wasn't being used for anything, so nobody congregated in the common area which gave more of an AirBnb vibe. Super close to Akihabara and the BEST taiyaki around the corner. The only thing was trying to figure out the washing machine. Took me a few loads to figure it out. So could have clearer instructions for that.
- Vaughan (8/5): Very good -
- Emeric (5/5): Passable -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zheng (9/5): it’s a wonderful stay - The room is very unique, we love the style. it’s very nice! It’s a bit far from public transport.
- Emily (7/5): Small but cool - The decor was cool and the bathroom good. The staff were very helpful in trying to find us places to eat etc. The air con wasn’t working so the room was very hot. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was a dribble at best. For a room with a kitchenette it would have been nice to have somewhere (chairs) to actually eat so we didnt have to sit on the bed.
- Joanna (8/5): Special design and unique space - unique design
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Chun (9/5): Superb - We love this hotel! The decoration was incredible and the room was spacious. Not far from metro stations and walking distance to Akihabara. A short walk to convenience stores and restaurants. Staff are very polite and helpful.
- Anonymous (10/5): loved it. would go back again - great rooms, beautifully presented and larger than expected. good location - easy to navigate around Tokyo. nothing
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Diarmuid (8/5): Very good -
- Rusty (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marlon (10/5): YABAI!!! - the staff
- Tahnee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (8/5): Great hotel. Very cool. Was a great place to pick. -
- Sian (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Denby (7/5): Good -
- Joel (10/5): Perfect! - It exceeded expectations. Great location for train stops. The rooms were huge and even had a washing machine and a separate cooking area! And of course the art was great fun! We got the Responder room.
- Gay (8/5): Very good -
- Matt (9/5): Superb -
- Jose (8/5): Very good -
- My-linh (9/5): Superb - • extraordinary
• spacious
• washer dryer available and really quiet
• many cool lights, which can be dimmed • unfortunately, during our stay there was a construction site, which could be heard
• quiet bright in the morning because the curtains are not blackout curtains
- Maryam (7/5): Good -
- Brandon (8/5): Very good -
- Travis (9/5): Superb - Loved the design of the space - wish I could have seen some other rooms as well. The size of the unit was huge for Tokyo. Bathroom was large and very nice. The washer / dryer in the unit was also a big plus. The kitchen with fridge is small but totally adequate for some light duty cooking. Akihabara isn't my favorite neighborhood in Tokyo, but the location is close to major subways and train lines. Plus neighboring Ueno, Yanaka, and Asakusa are nice to visit. The staff was young and friendly, and the bar / restaurant downstairs seemed cute.
- Travis (8/5): Very good -
- Riham (7/5): Good -
