- Drew (3/5): Cold showers and a bad lock - Pros: * The rooftop pool deck is amazing. It's huge with hot tubs and epic views. * Convenient elevator access to basement parking. * Location is close to old Centro downtown. Cheap Uber rides in for wonderful night life. Cons: * Payment - We tried several times with different links to pay directly/privately, but the host was having technical issues. He also sneakily tried to get me to pay his VISA surcharge processing fee(!). * Shower - No hot water. It only barely got warmer than cold. I was shivering and miserable. Not a good shower at all. * Views - The room balcony views are fairly ugly, frankly. * Deadbolt - This was hands-down the *worst* part of the whole experience... We got locked inside for over an hour! It happened because even though the extra safety deadbolt turned & locked easily, it would not turn back to unlock, regardless of how much strength or force we applied. It's as if the mechanism completely froze up inside. And the host didn't have any tools inside the apartment. So we had to break the tip off of a knife to create a makeshift flathead screwdriver, then remove the long bolts, and basically dismantle the entire lock ourselves from the inside. It was wild. Definitely a safety concern. Thankfully nothing was on fire and we didn't need to evacuate quickly, though we were an hour late to dinner with friends. I'm sure this was a unique one-time experience and won't be a problem for the next guest, but a lesson learned regardless... always check to make sure the lock turns *both* ways.
