Guest Reviews

- Marie Christelle (10/5): - Location is amazing . 1 station from shinjuku. The communication was wonderful . Family mart, 7 eleven near to this location . And le pain quotidien in tokyo opera where we had a beaufitul brunch and breakfast Nothing to say really
- Ed (7/5): - It was fun for the kids and the cat theme was good Facilities are quite dated, the ladder to the loft is tricky for moving bags or older people, and the space was a bit cramped
- Williamson (9/5): Cat house - Great separate seating arrangements and bigger than it seems in the photos

- Jennifer (8/5): Lovely place with its own charm. - Location was great, close to lots of convenient stores, local small businesses and grocery stores, transport and in a quieter street. We were 2 adults and 3 kids (6, 10 and 13 yrs). Whilst space was tight, we didn't mind and slept comfortably. We were able to take bus/trains (although Hatsudai is only JR line) and so close to Shinjuku hub we walked a few times. We stayed during winter and it's super cold at night but the heater helped a great deal. Hosts sent detailed emails and images about the location which were so helpful and left us a gift on our last night. All facilities in the apartment worked fine and was clean. Had a big sink which was really handy. Cat theme was so cute and my kids loved it. Not much space to sit and eat. We didn't cook given the small space, even though the facilities were there. It was just easier to eat out or buy food from the convenience stores. Laundry liquid enough for just 1 load of washing but luckily I had some of my own.
Located on second floor and no lifts in the building so was a hassle bringing multiple suitcases up and down but we still managed and overall enjoyed our stay.
- Jorge Jesiel (10/5): - La cama estaba muy cómoda Todo bien
- Majidi (10/5): Great value - Great value, good location
- Amanda (10/5): Something different that was lovely. - Loved all the cats! Very cute!
- Hai (10/5): -
- Shannon Derrick (9/5): Thoughtful host; Fun theme; Great landing pad - The host's step-by-step instructions with photos for how to get to the apartment from the train station were fanTAStic!! I can't tell you how much we appreciated that clarity after a long flight and arriving at night.
The apartment theme made us smile every time we found something else with a cat on it. What a nice way to lift the spirits weary after travelling.
- Vivi (9/5): Love the stay and the area where it is located. - Close to station and easy to access.
- Maite (8/5): -
- SEBASTIANO (5/5): Immobile adatto per famiglia composta da non più di 3 persone. - Struttura silenziosa e tutto sommato comoda sia alla stazione della metropolitana che ad alcuni bar - ristoranti. Eravamo in 5.

- Chris (8/5): Unique flat in a great location but tiniest place I have ever seen! - Location was great, loads of combini, restaurants around and train 5 minutes walk away.
Decor was unique which was why we booked it.
Has facilities that you need. It was tiny. For a family you have zero space and nowhere to store suitcases. Nowhere to sit apart from the mattresses on the floor. We didn't cook but if you wanted to you couldn't as would not be able to access it.
Wardrobe upstairs was full of owners stuff so you can't store anything in there.
Whilst it does have a balcony it is only a square metre and stores the rubbish bins.
It is a studio flat with a mezzanine level with a mattress, no bedrooms.
- Abby (8/5): - Very close to the metro made it easy to get around The mezzanine where the second double bed is was really hot, but we did visit in the middle of summer. It would be fine in cooler weather
- Jaja (9/5): its a good stay except that its a little further from the main attraction. but nevertheless its okay - its near the train station. clean and has washing machine no elevator. the body soap looks like it was an old one and they just added water into it.
- Ingo (9/5): Superb -
- Aikin (7/5): Good - It was small and cozy. Location was perfect. Perfect for 4 people and less, 5 is abit squeezy. Not much luggage space either.
- Colin (8/5): Very good -
- Camilla (9/5): Superb - Great quiet location and lots of fun with all the kitsch cat decor The bathroom is tiny but to be expected in this style of apartment
- Maria (8/5): Great place and great location - Nicely located and funky decor It s tight but for Tokyo’s standard great
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Haris (9/5): Superb -
- Mila (8/5): You get value for what you pay. - Cat themed! Quiet. Has essential things. Can fit our family of 5 comfortably. Stickers peeling and kettle was dusty
- Lam (7/5): Outdated, Uncomfortable, and Strong Chemical Smell - The place is outdated but clean. However, it had a strong chemical smell, and whatever was used for cleaning seemed to cause rashes and itching for my kids. It was also very cold and uncomfortable. Would not stay here again
- Juliette (4/5): Not the Best, Not the Worst - Our agreed upon check in time at this property was 3:00 p.m. when we arrived at 3:15 we found a backpack and shoes inside and the cleaning closet open in the loft upstairs. We messaged the owner and while waiting for a response someone came and knocked at the door saying they were from the cleaning company and hadn't finished cleaning the unit before we arrived. We received no notice from the owner saying that our check-in time needed to be moved and felt very uncomfortable standing there while the cleaning person was finishing cleaning the unit.
Also, be advised that even though there is a washing machine, there is no dryer or drying rack in the unit. When asked about drying clothes the owner recommended that we walk our clothes to the laundromat nearby to dry them. I wish this situation was made a bit more apparent as we would have rather not walked with damp clothes outside in the cold.
- Madeline (9/5): Great location & great cats! - We really enjoyed the decorations! Literally everything was cat themed! The host was so amazing & helpful - they were super generous and very kind! They provided us with incredibly detailed instructions (with pictures & annotated maps!) on how to get from the N’EX to the Cat House. The location was one stop away from Shinjuku - so easy to get around to other places, we even caught local lines out to Chofu and Fuji from the nearby station! The host provided us with some great local recommendations which were a great addition to our trip! 10/10 would stay here again! It is a bit on the small side, so be prepared to stay in close quarters! We didn’t mind it since we spent most of our days out & about :)
- Teresa (3/5): This is not a great place for families. Would be better for two people max. - The location makes for easy access to Tokyo places. The apartment is much smaller than expected. The bathroom is super old and although clean- it’s just not super comfortable. The room had a very strong fragrance. It’s so small and the smell overwhelmed us.
The owner sent us SO MANY emails before the visit asking for passport pictures. Even after I sent the pictures we still got like 10 more emails.
- Sreekesh (6/5): Okay for small families - The location is great and there are many convenient stores with in a few minutes of walkable distance. The bus stop is only a minute away from the place. The host was very nice and she was good to communicate with. With a family of five travelling from overseas with all the luggage, we found it very difficult to move around the room. It's a tight space and the upper bedroom is through a steep stair and it is in the loft. We wouldn't recommend this space for larger families if you are staying for a few days. Also, the bathroom has both the shower/tub and toilet together, so it takes a while for everyone to get ready . So, please keep this in mind.
- Deanb75 (9/5): Superb -
- Amy (8/5): Very good -
- Tanya (8/5): Affordable but compact apartment in a good location - Lots of photos and clear instructions from the host helped us easily find the apartment. It was clean and well set out and cats made it feel unique. It was quite a small space so bear this in mind in terms of the number of people and bags you want in the space. It would be helpful to be told before hand that the subway station is on a private railway line (not metro or toei) and so you need an additional ticket if on a subway pass.
- Vincenzo (9/5): All good - Cute The bed is a bit uncomfortable
- Dávila (10/5): Exceptional -
- Konrad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hyegang (10/5): Great stay, cute interior - Interesting interior, quite surprising to see all items in the room (even the unexpected ones) to be 'cat'. Timely response to inquiries and an understanding host. A great location with multiple vending machines and convenience stores nearby. The streets are quite bright so it feels safe. Easy to travel around with a bus stop literally in front of the door making Shinzuku ans Shibuya station accessible, as well as a subway station at a walkable distance. A minor dispute about having a visitor while on stay (truely not the host's fault), and would be great if the additional visitors policy was announced prior to reservation. Maybe a guide on how to use the air conditioner would be helpful as the buttons at the bottom of the remote control were literally invisible to those unfamiliar with the type of remote cointrol. A small sticker indicating there are hidden buttons would be helpful.
- Nadhir (6/5): It's highly functional and organized place. Typical Japanese. Vending machine everywhere. - Great location for tokyo's halmark Garbage management should be explained well beforehand
- Andre (7/5): Good -
- Aki (5/5): Ok location, unpolite hosts - They sent me an email saying check in time is from 10am. We arrived at 1pm and were told to wait until the cleaning finishes at 3pm. No apologies were given. On the checkout day the owner got to the room with his own keys 10:01 (checkout was 10m). Yes we were 1min late but just getting to the room at that time is bit weird (Also given the fact he gave us previous day the check in time 5h wrong). At the booking process he insisted on copying ID card even from japanese resident (because non japanese name), even after I told I have a permanent residence in Japan and the treatment should be the same as for Japanese according to the law. After escalating to booking.com he gave up but never said sorry.
- Carol (8/5): Pleasant home stay in central yet tranquil area, walking distance from Shinjuku central. - Very responsive host, everything available for comfortable stay. Host is accommodating and friendly.
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (8/5): Very nice place! - Very nice apartment in peaceful area, still only one stop away from Shinjuku station. Very quiet at nights. You have everything what you need in apartment. Washing Machine was a very useful. A couple of great restaurants nearby (Asian Palm restaurant especially) and 7-Eleven. and you walk about 5-10min to Hatsudai Station.
The apartment was cold when we arrived but the heater worked fine, excluding the bathroom which was cold all the time. But I think this is the situation in almost every apartment in Tokyo in Winter.
The Cat theme was nice and beautiful. We had a great time in this apartment! I think international customers would like to have more space to their stuff, like a closet to their clothes.
- Robin (7/5): Good -
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional - Pokey little place, had everything we need.
- Sue (9/5): Kids loved the cat theme apartment! - My kids loved the cat decorations all over the apartment. Tied in well with all the animal cafes we’ve been visiting in Japan. It’s one stop away from Shinjuku station. Nice to get a feel of suburban life. Lovely to wind down to a quiet place after visiting hectic busy places in Tokyo. We randomly walked and found a ramen place that was very near to the apartment! The tiny ramen place had previously won best ramen 10 years ago! And was previously Michelin recommended! It’s doesn’t have proper rooms, but I guess that’s how all small apartments are like in places like Japan/ Singapore or Hong Kong. It’s a studio with an upstairs loft. The upper loft can get hot in summer. When we were there, the first 2 days were hot - the upper loft was quite hot and stuffy. It rained and cooled down after that and the upstairs was pleasant to sleep in.
