• Debra (9/5): They know their food is not quality and yet they still serve it and it wasn’t cheap - Well laid out. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The chef in charge of the cook station was great. We made the mistake of eating dinner at the restaurant. My husband‘s prime rib was so rare we sent it back came back. It was still rare so we tried to cut it and make the best of it. We couldn’t even cut it. It was so tough the Mater D was insistent that we must be used to different quality and that’s not an excuse. while we were waiting for him to take our steak back, we ate the asparagus that came with it. if he could have, he would’ve charged us for both dinners real piece of work that guy

Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit eigener heissen Quelle und würden dieses wieder nehmen, da es sehr schön war. Vom Hotel aus kann man den Volcano Arenal sehen, wenn er nicht bedeckt ist. Sehr freundliches Personal, gutes Essen. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen :)

The hotel grounds are beautiful and the pool / hot springs were perfect for our family. The breakfast is decent and the restaurant offers a good selection of nicely prepared meals. The rooms are large and spacious with fairly comfortable beds. Everything is pretty outdated about this hotel. The rooms and furniture are really old and pretty beat up looking. The rooms were not that clean and the floors were really dirty.

This hotel has a big sign at the entrance that it is a 4-star hotel. It is simply not that. The restaurant has excellent food, the grounds are well kept and with amazing, lush vegetation, birds, and the thermal pools, but the rooms barely meet the standards of a regular 2-star motel.

There was no information about the ingredients of each breakfast item, which made it difficult for us to know what was or wasn’t vegan. There weren’t many vegan options besides bread and fruit.

Es un lugar ideal para observar aves, ya que constantemente se pueden ver especies hermosas que hacen aún más especial la estadía. Además, cuenta con una vista privilegiada al volcán, realmente impresionante. El personal es muy amable y educado. Sin duda, un lugar muy recomendable para quienes buscan tranquilidad, naturaleza y un entorno bien cuidado. Como aspecto negativo, el hotel se encuentra alejado del centro y del comercio, por lo que en la práctica es un lugar pensado para permanecer dentro del recinto y no salir con facilidad a otros puntos. Además, el servicio está claramente orientado a turistas norteamericanos o europeos. Como latinas, percibimos diferencias en el trato en comparación con otros huéspedes, sintiéndonos en varias ocasiones en desmedro frente a ellos. Es un punto que debería revisarse para ofrecer una experiencia más equitativa e inclusiva para todos.

• jean-robert (1/5): un vrai mauvais souvenir seul les jardins sont magnifiques, le reste un véritable scandale en 15 ans de booking première - En fait rien Accueil militaire , chambres vieillissantes et sombres , absence de ménage et de changement des serviettes pour un séjour de 2 nuits pour un 4* c’est + que moyen et la restauration vraiment pas terrible !! pour ne pas dire mauvais , heureusement qu’il est possible de trouver des restaurants top à la Fortuna !! Enfin ne parlons pas de la chambre avec piscine d’eau chaude privée un bouillon de culture !!!! positionner cet établissement en superbe est une HONTE ! Surprenant de la part de booking . Sincèrement A ÉVITER absolument dans la mesure du possible.
• Alexis (10/5): We came for the lush greens and refreshing pools and this place delivered! - The grounds were beautiful and facilities wonderful! We enjoyed dips in the pools even when it was rainy. We really enjoyed our lovely room and our stay. Our air conditioner worked too well for the number of blankets we had. But, once we figured out how to overcorrect the enthusiastic air conditioner it was comfortable. :)

• Dina (10/5): Fun relaxing stay with thermal pools and beautiful surroundings. - We enjoyed our stay at Volcano Lodge during or visit nearby La Fortuna. The room was comfortable, clean but a bit dark. We enjoyed spending time in the thermal baths relaxing. We did not use the pool but it was clean. The grounds were beautiful with lots of tropical foliage that attracted birds and wildlife. The staff vas very friendly and helpful. The food was good with lots of options and our breakfast was included. This is a family oriented thermal resort, but it was quiet enough for couples. Good location for nearby activities and exploring.

• Laszlo (1/5): We will not come back - Nice location, excellent and super friendly staff. Natural hot pools. Nice cocktails. Warning: although nice resort and very friendly staff, the room is not worth the price and the behavior of the management is unbelievable. We booked for 7 days and unfortunately, the weather was exceptionally bad, heavy rain all day long every day, so we decided to leave after four days. We knew about the nonrefundable policy, however we asked the management to find a compromise solution of a partial refund, not to lose all the $833 (=3 nights). The occupation of the hotel could be around 60%, so there would not have been any loss of opportunity for the hotel. They simply said no and kept our $833 for no service provided. This is really not a friendly client approach, be warned before you make a reservation!

• Walter (9/5): Better than expected and a good value! We will repeat. - We've stayed in several locations in La Fortuna but none of those had properly "hot" springs. You do. The lunch and dinner at the restaurant was a nice surprise! The three of us sampled much of both menus and found the value, flavor and presentation - all good. The scrambled eggs were prepared as they should be, not over cooked and chopped like most in Costa Rica. Bonus points to host José who went beyond. Orange juice at breakfast was very tasty. The room was nice and comfortable. Breakfast could be improved a bit. The little sausages are not up to the quality of the rest of the fare and every hotel in La Fortuna has them. Bland. Don't be like the others. Be better. The containers of scrambled eggs and pancakes ran too low late in the serving periods all three mornings we attended. The pancake recipe is not up to standards as well. Reconsider the use of any margarine or at least that particular one. It's really poor. It has no taste even distantly like real butter. Kudos for José who did provide real butter on our request. The hair dryer in our room (210) would run for only a few seconds and shut down. I've had this happen before and it's from restricted air flow. Usually a good cleaning will revive it.

• Margot (10/5): Sehr empfehlenswerte Anlage mit Volcano-Blick vom Pool und Restaurant aus - Die Volcano Lodge ist eine gepflegte, sehr gut ausgestattete Anlage mit sehr schöner Bepflanzung, einem Pool am Restaurant, mehreren natürlichen Thermalbecken, einem Restaurant, wo wir reichliches Frühstücks Buffet vorfanden und ein leckeres Dinner genießen konnten. Auch das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Lage ist geschickt für vielseitige Touren, die uns vermittelt wurden oder wir selbständig durchführen konnten. —-

• tara (10/5): Paradise - Beautiful surroundings and property well cared for, like being in a tropical paradise. Room clean with gorgeous views. Hotel staff pleasant. Edward did a fantastic job with his presentation as well as with the night walk. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about plants and animal. Restaurant staff and food wonderful. The only thing we would change would be to add air conditioning to the room.

• Elaine (9/5): We will come to this resort again. I thought it was good value for the facility - The thermos pools were spread out nicely so you never felt crowded. It had good facilities and had quiet areas as well. The front desk was efficient and helpful and gave great advice. The waiters were poorly trained. They were friendly and nice but not terribly competent. It is a shame that they only use male waiters as I feel that women are better suited to the job. Would love it if they had “family rooms”. IE a room with separation for people with small children.

• William (7/5): It rained for most of our stay - We had a nice room and the property was well landscaped with lots of plants and birds. There were plenty of hot springs pools and the dining area was outside next to the pool and hot springs. Unfortunately, it rained of and on the entire three days we were there and we never could see the volcano because of fog, clouds or rain but the facility is very nice. I didn’t give it a five star rating because of the weather

• Carsten (9/5): Tolle Unterkunft mit Blick auf den Vulkanl - Unterkunft ist sehr schön, Gruß angelegt in einem tropischen Garten. Es gibt zwei Süßwasser Pools, und mehrere Thermalbecken mit Poolbar. Herausragend war das Restaurant, ganz hervorragend, Frühstück hervorragend gut. Die Zimmer von 101-106 sind sehr laut durch die vielbefahrene Straße.
