Guest Reviews
- Bianca (3/5): Disappointing stay overall—while the setting was nice and the bathroom clean, the lack of cooking facilities and a non-w - Beautiful garden and vineyard setting, and the bathroom was clean. Beautiful garden and vineyard setting, and the bathroom was clean—but that’s where the positives end.
There were no cooking facilities or BBQ as expected, and the minibar fridge didn’t work, which resulted in our fresh food spoiling and a significant waste of money. We raised this during our stay and nothing was done to fix or remedy it, despite paying extra for early check-in.
The property is also not private as advertised—the porch is shared with the neighbouring cottage, and there were random people on-site late at night. The steep gravel steps are poorly lit and feel unsafe after dark.
We booked well in advance and were extremely disappointed. This stay did not deliver on what was promised and was not worth the cost.
- Emma (8/5): Nice stay overlooking pretty gardens - Everything that we needed. Great set up. Winery onsite closed

- Samantha (5/5): Nice, but not what we expected. - It was clean and clearly the facilities were relatively new. Advertised as a “private” country cottage but it’s a one bedroom home under the roof of another “room” right next to a home, right next to the main estate - so far from “private”. You have to walk from the carpark infront of the front door of the conjoined room to get to the Shiraz cottage which made it a bit weird when the people next door checked in and we had to keep walking past their door and their bedroom. The carpark is at the top of stairs which lead to both the nearby home as well as the cottages which made it difficult to know where to go, and also difficult to bring luggage into the cottage. We ended up going around to the main residence by accident as it wasn’t clear… awkward. It looks relatively new - more like a motel room with an ensuite and a kitchen, although only a microwave and no other cooking facilities. The bathroom is lovely and modern with a washing machine, however only two towels and a bath mat - no face cloths. The instructions to the property were not clear. You have to drive PAST the address, up a short steep driveway and then straight ahead to the carpark, and then there are stairs and the two “Cottages” are the small building to the right. As you walk around the veranda, you have to go past the first door around the building before you see the sign for the Shiraz cottage. Really wasn’t what we expected.
- Sue (8/5): Enjoyed the quiet private position in the vineyard and helpful owner re payment mix up. - Excellent position. Warm and comfy, quiet and private. Needed hot plates.
Also lounge could’ve been more comfy.
Needed lights outside for stairs to entrance and to get keys from lockbox.
- Anthony (6/5): Could easily be excellent…..but is let down by a lack of furniture and kitchen equipment. - Bedroom and bathroom are excellent. Fantastic location. Kitchen and living room spaces are below expectations. Kitchen is sparsely equipped and there is no dishwasher or cooking facilities (only a microwave). Fridge is old and needs to be replaced. No table or chairs for eating and the provided stools aren’t very comfortable (one seems stuck on an angle). The photos and booking information doesn’t make it clear that there are actually two units side by side. If both are occupied at the same time (as they were for our stay), privacy and noise can be an issue. The parking area is elevated with access to the unit/s is via rustic steps. At night there is no lighting of the steps. Overall the unit would better suit someone using it for shorts stays with no need for cooking.
- Townsend (10/5): We stayed here to go to Gather Round in Lyndoch. What a great find! So peaceful and in such a terrific central location - Great location and terrific cottage with super comfy bed. Terrific outlook over the vineyard Nothing
- Barrie (8/5): Great location and lovely home, bed very comfortable however cleaning of dust and cobwebs poor. - No cooking facilities in room apart from microwave.Tanunda had plenty to choose from. Normal coffee facilities would have been nice
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Greta (5/5): Nice place but needs some improvements. - The bed and the linen were great. The outlook was really nice.
Quiet and peaceful.
The owner responded to communication promptly. No milk at all, not even a small UHT box
Only peppermint tea.
One sachet of instant decaf.
No AC in the bedroom. We asked for a fan.
The unlit, uneven steps from the carpark are difficult in the day and really dangerous in the dark.
Previous guests had mentioned these things in the GuestBook but the suggestions seem to have fallen on deaf ears.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - Very easy to find.
Cottage was clean, modern.
Bed sheets
Were amazing. Felt fresh and crisp.
Water oressure in the shower was exceptional. Na
- Susan (6/5): Nice location and garden but overpriced. - Great location and garden, house very clean inside and bed was comfortable. No coffee machine, no coffee plunger or even coffee sachets, only herbal tea, no milk or ice cubes, tables outside needed cleaning, lounge decor uninspiring. Overpriced.
- Michael (8/5): Over all a lovely, peaceful stay. Good , clean facilities, all modern. - Lovely, quiet location situated in the actual vineyard. No milk supplied with tea and coffee.
- Medard (9/5): Superb - The location was spectacular. Having the place literally to ourselves was beautiful. The amenities were great, and we had a very pleasant stay. The main door did not lock with the key provided. Though the outside fly screen door locked, from a security perspective, having the main door locking would be preferred.
- Anne (5/5): Shira cottage - This cottage was in a lovely location. There were no staff on site. I was on my own on the vineyard. The cottage was acceptable. Towels were lovely and hot water was in abundance. However, there is a washing machine😊 but no powder🙁 or tabs, v little washing up liquid, little equipment like sharp knives to use when preparing food. This could be an exceptional place if more thought was given to the little things that make a difference. Eg no salt and pepper. As above
- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bushra (6/5): Nice area , peaceful - The vineyard was beautiful, calm easy access There was no kitchen facilities apart from a microwave, we stayed there during Christmas and most of the shops were closed l think it is important to have a small stove or even a BBQ outside
