Guest Reviews
- Felicia (10/5): - Todo, una pasada
- Nikolaos (10/5): -
- Wai Kit (8/5): Value for money and quiet area. Didi will give you wings - It was a nice hotel in a quiet Hutong. Requires a bit of walking to reach Wangfujing. There is a nearby stretch of local food stalls. Not bad for young people. Vibrant and full of energy.
- Nasrin (1/5): We taking very sad memories of Beijing due to this. - I am sorry to say it was a waste of my $500 AUD for 3 nights. Just wanted the 3 days to go by as fast as possible. We were treated differently due to our religion we felt so out of place. Our see off was such that the staff didn’t ever say anything to us as we sat in the taxi. However they would run to other guest if they see them coming.
- Elena (8/5): Overall good stay will come back - Good location and friendly staff Stairs to second and third floor
- Fredrika Jacoba (8/5): - It's located in a traditional community area in the city centre. The staff is very friendly and willing to assist you. The tumble dryer in the laundry room was broken on Sunday. The hotel staff was waiting for the repair man to come and fix it.
Accueil formidable
Salle de petit déjeuner, conviviale Rien
- Ayan (10/5): - Ocen xoroshiy otel-mestopolojenie-radom mnogo kafeshek,resepshn rebata super-ocen pomogali.
- Grace (10/5): Great location family friendly hotel - First off, the location is absolutely convenient. It is close to several metro stations and easily walking distance to a lot of attractions. Secondly, the staff was out of this world. They go above and beyond with helping with any assistance that you need. The manager helped us daily with helping carrying our strollers up and down the stairs. There is ample free coffee hot tea and water in the lobby. The value of this hotel is wonderful. It really provides a great comfortable stay for excellent location with all the amenities that you need. The pictures on the Booking.com don’t match the actual property. For example the lobby and the rooms are not exactly as pictured. It’s a little more dated and worn down. However, the hotel still provides comfort, value, exceptional and excellent service. Therefore all these qualities greatly outweigh the misinformed pictures.

- Pham (9/5): Tuyệt vời - Vị trí gần trung tâm, gần phương tiện công cộng Nhân viên lễ tân có bạn nhiệt tình, có bạn chưa được nhiệt tình lắm.
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Marimar (10/5): Great stay with very comfortable room - Location was convenient to reach down town and many of the attractions were just a short walk distance. Also very quiet neighbourhood and close to the metro station. The staff was super nice
- Li (9/5): I will be very likely to go back and stay in the same place. - The location is great. It is very handy for subway network to all the must-see sights, heaps of fantastic food selections around. Staff were super friendly, going above and beyond with online booking for sightseeing, ordering shopping and food online. Staff were very helpful and cheerful. Will go back there again next time.
- Francesco (10/5): -
- OLAYA GONZALEZ (9/5): Buen hotel !
- Rachel (10/5): Fab - Cathy was lovely.
Location was good.
Service was good.
Clean hotel and easy to get to N/A

- Craig (3/5): I think they have gamed Booking.com with positive comments which cannot be justified at all. I did not take photos but - Too be honest very little to like apart from the pleasant and helpful staff. They were part of the stay that was good In a little alley with which was not clean at all. No lift in the building. The rooms were very basic almost like a youth hostel. The breakfast was as basic as it gets. This is not a hotel. The name of the ‘hotel’ varies depending on what you look at - on the card for WiFi it’s one thing and at the desk it’s another - and it does not show up properly on the Apple Maps or Didi either.
- Bernardo (10/5): Great value for money - The hotel has good value for money. The hotel is nearby the major attractions. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would like to specially thank Maya for her support in shipping some of our belongings that we forgot in China. The rooms are spacious as well. We could easily stay again. The only downside was the breakfast but not a big deal.
- Domagoj (10/5): - Ella and Zoe are great

Bottigliette d’acqua e lavanderia self-service gratuite
I letti erano comodissimi.
- Mark (9/5): - Very good location. Everyone in the hotel was very nice and talkative. They help you out, even if you didn't ask them. We got a free upgrade which was a nice surprise. The room was comfy and clean. I would highly recommend staying here.
- David (8/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful You should include breakfast
- Artem (10/5): I LOVE MAYA - I will visit this hotel again just to see Maya❤️❤️❤️ Everything is good
- Hengrui (10/5): Great experience for families - Service: The staff is very friendly and helpful, everyone was very nice, especially to our kids.
Bottled water is provided everyday, as well as clean towels.
The hotel provides a washing machine and dryer which can be used as self service. Both machines are in great shape, very clean, and are gentle to clothes. The labels are in Chinese though, some English labels may be helpful.
There is also a comfortable seating area (for breakfast) where we could enjoy our take out food.
Room: We had a family room. Our room was very clean and quite spacious. It was also pretty private as there were no big street and no neighboring buildings in the first floor. The room is quiet at night even with open window.
The soundproofing is good except for the door. Noises in the corridor from other guests or the cleaning staff can be heard clearly. But this is only an issue for people like us who slept in until noon.
For light sensitive sleeper like our kids, the room can be darkened completely.
The beds were very comfortable. They are however rather hard for European standards.
The room can be air conditions, and also can be ventilated with a window. There is a separate ventilation for bathrooms that needs to be turned on manually at the entrance. The label is quite worn out, so it was a bit difficult to find. But as the room got quite humid without the extra ventilation after showers, it was much appreciated.
Location: The hotel is a tiny bit too far from the subway to walk with small kids everyday (our younger one was 3). However, the hutong is big enough for cars, so taxis can stop at the door step.
It IS very well possible to walk to Wang Fu Jing pedestrian zone (about 25min) or malls in the Chaoyang district(Galaxy SOHO 10min, YouTang Mall 30 min, or The Box 40 min).
The location is especially great for people who love street food. The street outside the hutong is full of small street food shops. They all sell different kinds of food.
- Matei-Ioan (10/5): - Very well located with friendly staff. Free coffee, water and laundry with washer and dryer. Everything was according to expectations
- Paul (1/5): Not recommended - Reception with good english speaking personel. I booked that hotel based on the description, booking score 9+ and few reviews, for 4 nights.
Unfortunately when I got my room I got supper disappointed.
That is not close to 4 stars.
I had to call booking and rebook that hotel to some other place.
Bathroom dirty in the shower.
Walls dirty and need some deep renovation.
My view was to the wall outside.
When cockroach showed up in the bathroom i decided that need to run from that place.
I asked if I could order something in a bar but unfortunately not because we do not have a bartender yet. Although few Chinese guys were happy drinking and playing games next to it.
Luckily they agreed to cancel my reservation after 1 night based on booking request.

Altijd doen! 😄
- Leyli (6/5): It’s a cheap hostel without hostel amenities and with a price of a mid-range hotel. - Good beds, clean fresh linen. WiFi in the room, good breakfast. Reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Pictures are NOT correct. There is no nice courtyard with tables, it’s a tiny area used as a garage. The room is way dirtier than expected. Dirty walls, dust that have not been wiped for years, mouldy shower. It would also be nice to have a hook for towels in the shower. The bar doesn’t work. The milk during the breakfast was spoiled.
On our last day there were a party of locals in the lobby, I assume friends or management (might be wrong). I stayed on the first floor and I heard shouts and crash of bottles well into the night.
- Filippo (8/5): - most of the staff speak in english Breakfast
- Hoppen (1/5): Depressing - Leaving in the knowledge of never going back again was quite nice This hotel is massively overrated and overpriced. We booked this hotel because of its four-diamond rating and the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one the few places where the most negative reviews are actually the most accurate.
For starters, the hotel looks like a Temu version of the pictures it advertises with. It certainly does not meet the standards of a supposed four-diamond property – it’s far closer to a hostel than to a four-star hotel. You only need to take a look at the bathroom in the reception/breakfast/bar area to see this.
Our own room had mold in the bathroom, a missing piece of glass from the toilet door, cigarette burns on the nightstand, and a bed that was hard and uncomfortable. The common areas were messy – acceptable for a budget hostel, but completely unacceptable for what we booked and paid for.
While we booked the hotel for four nights, we left after one night. Even though the hotel had clearly advertised with false information, they still forced us to pay for two nights. We decided to cut our losses and move to a cheaper hotel that was far more comfortable and luxurious. It was the best decision we could have made.
What struck us most was that the staff didn’t even seem surprised that the hotel failed to meet expectations: no questions were asked about what was wrong, as long as we paid for the extra night. Furthermore, they also had texted us saying the Forbidden City was closed due to the military parade from August 15 onward, when in fact it was still open for two weeks longer. If we hadn’t double-checked, we would have missed one of the highlights of our stay because of their misleading information.
This hotel might be acceptable if you expect a two-star property and book at a budget price. In its current state, however, it in no way lives up to the advertised facilities or price point.
Honestly, for us it felt like a scam.
- Cornelius (9/5): - We were very happy with this hotel. Location, quality and Service were all very good. Breakfast was really good and English was spoken.

- Morne (10/5): Awesome - Close to forbidden city & Tianemen square and food stalls.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - I stayed at this hotel for four days and had a very good experience. We stayed in a nicely designed family room that made our stay especially enjoyable.
The breakfast was a small buffet with four separate ordering options. I particularly recommend the Chinese selection – especially the wonton soup.
The hotel is located on a quieter street, slightly away from the main tourist attractions, but surrounded by excellent local restaurants.
What truly made our stay exceptional, however, was the staff. They were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond on several occasions. Right upon our arrival, they assisted us with booking access to Tiananmen Square, and even supported us via WhatsApp while we were out exploring the city. A special thanks goes to Sandy, who was always extremely friendly, attentive, and professional.
I would absolutely book this hotel again without hesitation!
- Bruce (10/5): We would recommend staying here in the family room. It’s a great spot, love the friendly and relaxed vibe, and the staff - Fantastic location, clean facilities and really helpful staff
- Ruby (10/5): Exceptional - Really modern and clean. Great value for money and the staff went above and beyond to help- from downloading apps to recommending places (I commented that I liked the tea and then extra tea appeared in my room). Everyone spoke English and the location was convenient but hidden away so quiet Breakfast wasn't really to my taste but it was free and it didn't bother me
- Alfredo (10/5): Hot Beijing - The location was good and the staff very kind There was only one card for two travelers
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were really cheery, helpful and accommodating. Jimmy was great as were the others.
- Michael (10/5): Definitely recommend! - Staff were great! Beds were comfy.
- Adam (10/5): Convenient and comfortable stay - Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms felt fresh and modern, and there was a nice bar area down stairs.
- Gretas89 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (9/5): Superb - It was good value for money central to get around to all the main sights. The room was good and cleaned every day. The staff was very welcoming. Especially Maya was always in a good mood and very helpful.
- Abdulrhman (10/5): Exceptional - Super welcoming staff👏🏻
- Bernat (10/5): Exceptional - It was great! Great service, all the team is amazing and help you for anything you need.
Thank you Maya for all your help!
- Christoph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barancan (10/5): Perfect - We had a wonderful stay and were very satisfied with the rooms. they were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. A special thank you to the service staff and the reception team. everyone was extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. You made us feel very welcome. We would happily come back and can highly recommend this hotel!
A special thanks as well for the warm hospitality :)
- Kornélia (8/5): Very good -
- Rodi (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, everything is up close.
- Arun (10/5): I believe that the best attractions, gob smacking food and stupendous shopping are all side hero's in your travellin - The staff are very welcoming and go out of the way to make you feel comfortable. Very close to many popular attractions. Hutongs at night are an especially charming place. Highly recommended Loved everything. Can't wait for them to open up a small cafe or restaurant. Will def be back
- Ulrich (9/5): Feel good - The location is fantastic, the team at the Hotel is outstanding. They are extremly welcoming and support you with every issue of your travel. After some days, it feels like family. The rooms are very convenient and you can always gab a coffee for free. Just the breakfast could be richer.
- Erin (9/5): Awesome location and staff - we will be back! - Excellent location - in a lovely hutong and within a 1-minute walk from a lot of food options. Very friendly and helpful staff. When they learned my daughter had a foot injury, Maya rented us a wheelchair and also arranged for us to move to the first floor as soon as a room became available. The up-charge on arranging rides and tours is pretty high. We saved a lot of money by arranging on our own.
The second-floor rooms were more fresh/updated than the first floor rooms.
- Caroline (10/5): Great stay in Beijing hutong hotel...staff couldn't help enough. 😄 - A character full hotel on the edge of the hutong.
Staff were super friendly and helpful... it was like leaving friends after just 4 days!
The hotel has a bar area ( very reasonable prices beers) and it was great to chat to other visitors for tips on the city and generally socialise. This was particularly great for our family group with adult " kids" - who had great opportunity to easily socialise.
The room itself looks newly refitted with modern, clean fittings. The beds ( family room 3 v. large singles) were super comfy with quality mattresses and linens. The shower was great- powerful and hot.
I always try to stay away from the international more corporate hotel chains in favour of a more local authentic feel. This can be risky as you don't get the brand backing.... but definitely lucked out with the Happy Dragon. Nothing...
Maya did actually ask if there was anything they could do to improve the guest experience- but we couldn't think of anything..... swimming pool maybe!! But then we had no time to use anyway!!

The rooms were spacious and impeccably clean.
The hotel's commitment to hospitality and attention to detail truly set it apart. They have daily tour to Great Wall departing from the hotel that saved us time and it was convenient.
We loved the front desk team. They were friendly and ready to help anytime.

Centrally located, close to the Forbidden City and Wangfujing Street, with a nearby subway station for easy access.
Free coffee, free laundry, English-speaking staff, and tour services. Nothing...

- Martin (10/5): Excellent value and friendliest staff - The staff are simply remarkable. Great selection of beers in the lobby and local restaurants are excellent. Very accommodating with luggage storage etc too Room was a little small. And the bathroom was missing glass. So the bathroom and room sounded like one.
