Guest Reviews
- Ansgar (6/5): A night in the woods was the idea, sadly all under construction, though we got an upgrade to a cabin -
- Leah (10/5): -
- Kelly (6/5): -
- Angelia (6/5): Expensive, but good location. - Loved the campground, easy check in and great location for a quick one night rest along the Cabot Trail. It was very expensive for not even having a fridge and the tiny heater could not keep up so we were very cold during our stay. The bedding was not sufficient.
- Yasmine (9/5): - It was clean. No materials for cooking. So do have your meals outside first before coming
- Juzer (10/5): Amazing stay, we booked minute and found something perfect for our family. Will likely come back again. - Location and facilities.
- Queebs (10/5): -
- Scott (1/5): - Bad
- Devin (7/5): - Location, bed was really comfortable, host was very nice aswell. Interior seemed cheap. Metal panels for shower/washroom wall, wooden planks drilled to walls for bedside tables.
- Vanessa (10/5): Best glamping experience - An unforgettable Thanksgiving getaway!
We had the most amazing time at the dome — waking up to breathtaking views surrounded by nature was pure magic. The kayaking and canoeing were so much fun, and it was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Stephane was an incredible host, always available and helpful whenever we needed anything. Truly one of the most peaceful and memorable stays we’ve had. Highly recommend!
- Emily (10/5): -
- Louise (9/5): We only stayed for one night should have stay for two to get the full experience - Clean and cozy. Nothing
- Jeff (5/5): They need to properly heat and ventilate the domes or it’s like sleeping in a cold plastic bag. - That it was on the water. The dome had a strong plastic smell. The air filter machine was loud. The heater was too small to properly heat the dome and running the heater while you try and sleep it’s too loud. The property is under construction so looks like you’re staying in a construction site.
- Bance (5/5): Small upgrades need to be made to match the price being charged - Comfortable beds, good space, the veranda, location Needs a toaster, clean shower curtain, paper towel, dish clothes, extra blankets, garbage wrapper under the bed, bedside lamp, over prices
- Landry (9/5): -
- Tzuling (8/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Friendly host - Listening to the rain at night Nothing
- Peggy (8/5): - It was very cozy. The price was good too. Very friendly staff and Sydney (the dog ) was super friendly and very good with my dog. Had no power in the middle of the night
- Moritz (10/5): An experience not to be missed - I did not know what to expect but Stephan and his team made this an extraordinary experience. All amenities are available at blue bayou resort and the stay is an experience worth embracing
- Britta (9/5): - Die Igluzelte sind mal einfach was anderes, man war in der Natur direkt am See mit Blick vom Bett aus direkt in den Sternenhimmel. Betten waren sehr bequem.

- bellbell10 (3/5): Will never return. - The property accommodation was terrible. The girl, Sofia at check-in wouldn’t answer calls after checking in and there wasn’t anyone else available. So no wifi code was had because of this lack of commmunication. The bathroom shower area was disgusting and no towels, the glome had mold and was torn inside in alot of places. It was very gross. The bed was very uncomfortable and the floors hadn’t been swept or cleaned. Only three plugs permitted for electrical including the small space heater. We checked out the next morning as we were disgusted. There was also garbage piled up behind the accommodation. My husband and I operated a B&B previously and always took pride in our accomdations. This is the worst ever in all of our travels. The glome was on the ground without anything underneath.
There is more but I’ve run out of room for writing. We didn’t like anything as per the above and the Manager stole our money as he wouldn’t refund after we checked out 2 nights early. Will never return to this terrible place.

- Bonny (10/5): Only spent one quick night… met our needs perfectly. - Beautiful views. Very clean
- Matthew (10/5): - The Domes were amazing!

Too hot

- Edouard (7/5): -
- Eric (9/5): -
- Barb (10/5): - Cool dome with great features. Location
- Annette (10/5): Wonderful piece of heaven!! Comfortable way to camp and enjoy some nature rather than hoteling it. - Location was excellent. Comfortable way to camp!! Would love more snacks to be available to buy in the store.
- Ahmed (6/5): Freezing cold at night - The location is perfect! And, the domes were clean. No door or even a curtain to separate the room from the washroom! How would kids and adults deal in such situation!
The domes were freezing cold at night. The provided heater is so small for the space.
No fridge.
I am very disappointed especially with the price I have paid for these domes.
- razan rauniyar (6/5): -
- Cynthia (8/5): We thought it was a chance to try something different. - It was a unique experience, staying in a dome. Sitting by the lake.
- yaranon (9/5): -
- Arden (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - No food
- Sheen (10/5): -
- Jennifer (8/5): Really lovely place to stay. Very beautiful and relaxing and domes are comfortable and cosy. - Beautiful location. Free paddle boards and kayaks were brilliant and the water is beautiful and warm. Showers were great in the domes. I was not that clear what cooking equipment was provided so was not sure to bring. The dome did have a sink and a kettle and some mugs and tea and coffee but no bowls etc.
- Ziqi (7/5): -
- Gideon (9/5): I recommend Blue Bayou very highly for couples or families. I plan to return next year. - On the shore of South Harbour. Kayaks, canoes and other facilities available. Right near many fabulous hiking trails through national parks in Cape Breton. The WiFi is spotty if your camp is not close to the office. But we don’t need to spend our camping vacation on our devices, and WiFi is good near the waterfront.
- Andree (7/5): -
L’a permis.
- Peter (6/5): -
- Lori (10/5): If/when we get back to Cape Breton, we would definitely go back there again. - The location was great; right on a cove. We stayed for 2 days which enabled us to use the kayaks for free - a surprise and fun bonus. love everything about this place!
- Michel (3/5): -
- ROCHELLE (6/5): -
- Seymour (10/5): -
- Tacita (5/5): -
- Mary Anne (10/5): -
- Ann (10/5): -
- michelle (7/5): Great location - fun experience - The Domes do what they say - they have facilities but are basic. It did not promise a view and did not have one from the dome. It was less than a minute to the lakeside which was beautiful. The lady at reception was very helpful. As we stayed more than - night, we had access to kayaks which was a great perk. Lack of view and that the domes were very close to each other so there limited private outdoor space.
- Rona (8/5): - I watched the stars while laying in bed beautiful We were only there 1 night so never noticed anything.
- Ranushka (5/5): A Unique Experience. - It was a unique experience. The domes were spacious and had basic amenities you'd need. Can get a bit chilly in the night but overall had a good time. Amenities provided were not great compared to the price of the dome. Towels were thin and worn out and had a funny smell. The coil in the kettle was so badly burnt and needs replacing quite badly.
The domes were too close to each other and felt like piled up.
- Gabriel Yue (8/5): - There is free WiFi service on site.
- Zhihong (9/5): We enjoyed the stay and had so much fun playing in the lake. - Very nice for a group, there are enough cooking utensils. The location is also good, close to white road trail and places to see sunrise. There is also a lake nearby linked to the Atlantic Ocean that can play kayak and SUP, warm water in the afternoon, we had so much fun playing in the lake. The sofa is too soft, there were bee and flies in the chalet that we need to deal with at the beginning.
- JEAN-MARC (8/5): -
- Niels (9/5): Brilliant place for a campfire, swim in the lake and bbq. Loved it! - Campfire and bbq spot behind every dome, the domes themselves are nice, location right at the water. Would have loved to stay longer Most domes are not at the water, but behind the ones at the waterfront.
- Janina (9/5): -
- Suthar (10/5): -
- Amelie (9/5): Abenteuerliche Übernachtung im Zelt -
- Zoriana (7/5): -
- Loukas Zangos (8/5): -
- Julia (10/5): -
Preis eher hoch. Es hatte über 20 Bubbles nahe beieinander
- Patricia (8/5): Let’s go glamp! - Easy way to camp without bring8ng all the stuff you need to camp. It was worth the price to have an outdoor meal, a decent bed, a private bathroom, a way to easily heat water and, best of all able to gather our things and drive away letting someone else clean up our camp space. We had water activities available, but didn’t take time to use them. The WiFi was a fairytale
- Veronique (3/5): - Compared to other accommodations we experienced during our trip, this property felt significantly overpriced for the value offered. The resort is currently under construction, which greatly impacts the atmosphere. Upon arrival, we were met with heavy-duty vehicles, stacks of building materials, and an active construction zone—detracting from any sense of a relaxing resort environment.
Cleanliness and maintenance were also concerns. The garbage bins were full when we arrived and were not emptied until the following day. Additionally, the domes were advertised as “soundproof” on Booking.com, which was unfortunately not the case. Noise from neighboring domes was clearly audible, and the close proximity of the units meant there was very little privacy.
The “kitchen” area was minimal—essentially just a sink and a coffee station. While the morning coffee was a nice touch, overall amenities were lacking. The shower had warm water but very low pressure, and the walls showed signs of rust and wear.
Lastly, although a pet fee is charged, it’s unclear what additional cleaning or accommodations are provided for pets to justify the added cost.
This place has a lot of potential but unless you’re able to book one of the two waterfront units I would not recommend.
- Andreas Schallert (7/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Back to basics, natural, nature, bliss - This was a risk, I wasn't sure what I had booked as our accommodation and on first arrival i was a bit nervous but actually it was fantastic, great fun, The Boggie Shack, was a gutted out caravan with an outside covered barbecue kitchenette with an outside shower and toilet, very primitive but actually great to be back to basics and a bit rustic. I loved it and was sad to leave. The booking also included free canoeing, kayaking paddleboarding, as much as you liked on the calm ocean inlet at the property. The beaches near by were stunning and empty with clean clear sea to swim in. The owners were great too, friendly and up for a chat about the local area.
I would advise you stop at Neil's Harbour to stock up on food supplies on your way up as that's the nearest.
You will not be disappointed staying here. Nothing
- Tara (10/5): - I liked that there was plenty of options ( Water related - for example paddle boards that you could stand up on or kneel on, and a variety of kyaks to choose from.
I liked that there was wifi, and electricity. If you want plenty of cooking options then bring a camp stove and/ or a BBQ to cook with as the week that we went there was a fire ban. There is an option to use charcoal briquettes if you like a more rustic experience.
The staff are great and very helpful..ps my husband brought his guitar 🎸.
You will want bug spray for after dark.
We had a good time, so much so that we booked the same place for August Not applicable..we absolutely had a great experience.
- Barbara (10/5): -
- Ann (7/5): The domes are a neat idea and an experience. - The domes are a cool idea and a neat experience. The kids zip line sounds like someone is using a chainsaw. The room had a smell to it. I think the wall was recently painted and the smell was still in the room.
- Chubing (10/5): -
- Laurence (9/5): -
- MacKinnon (10/5): -
- Vira (10/5): - I like this place. It was very nice 🤗🤗🤗.
- Juan Luis (6/5): A beautiful, laid-back destination with stunning coastal views—perfect for those seeking nature and adventure, but don’t - Location and the staff were fenomenal! I feel it is important to share my experience so future guests have an accurate understanding of what to expect.
Firstly, calling this property a “resort” is misleading. While it is a unique and charming camping experience, it does not offer the amenities typically associated with a resort — such as a restaurant, bar, pool, or hot tub. Renaming it to something more accurate, like Blue Bayou Campground, would help set proper expectations.
Furthermore, both Booking.com and the property should provide guests with a clear list of items to bring in advance. The on-site supplies provided are very minimal and are not replenished during the stay, which can lead to inconvenience, especially for families or longer visits.
Sharing this information up front and ensuring that basic supplies are restocked would go a long way toward improving the guest experience and avoiding disappointment.
Thank you for taking this feedback into consideration to help make future stays clearer and more comfortable for everyone.
- Malone (9/5): - Private boogie shack is amazing! Nothing was great
- Tanveer (5/5): -
- Feng (9/5): Great for families or friends -
- LeonorTejada (9/5): -
- Yevhenii (8/5): -
- G. (8/5): A lovely experience that I would definitely do again! - We booked the studio lake view dome, and it was genuinely stunning. I would highly recommend the stay! It was magical and idealic - watching the sunrise with a mountain view- truly was beautiful. The staff was extremely helpful and found a way to manage our series of requests. If you're interested in making a fire - just be mindful of the 5 dollar bundles you'll see up the Cabot - most of it is wet wood and wont burn well. Blue bayou has plenty of dry wood and kindling for 8 bucks a bucket - so just something to note! As they had literally just opened up for the season - there were a few kinks that had to be worked out. Our dome only had grill grades, and they didn't have coal - so we used a neighbouring domes electric grid. That may not be possible as the season gets busier- so it would be good to make sure they're prepared with the necessary items so that you can have a good camping session. The domes itself are a little chilly - so I'd recommend bringing an extra blanket just in case.
- Leslie (8/5): Great halfway point when driving the Cabot Trail. - The location on Cape Breton Island is great for sightseeing. It’s about halfway around the Cabot Trail which is very convenient.
- Nancy (8/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): Tolles Lage, tolle Unterkunft!
- Elaine (9/5): We were in the area for a Celtic Music concert so just one night stay. It would be great to stay longer. - The glamping tent is very unique and the setting is excellent. Located right beside a lake, with kayaks and canoes available adds to the experience but we didn’t have time to take advantage. The fire pit and picnic table outside would encourage people to be outside. There is a group shelter for barbecuing. Nothing really. We booked last minute, so the heater was started then and It took a while for it to warm up. Our own fault.
