- Leonor (6/5): - .
No recomiendo.

- Conor (9/5): - Location, privacy, setting all perfect. Menu not cheap but food was delicious

- Natalia Maria (7/5): - Room Lack of beach
- Andrew (1/5): Nice location, weird rash. Nice staff, a little dirty. - The location was nice and the staff was friendly. We had high hopes for this stay given the location, but unfortunately our experience was far from relaxing.
First and foremost, our room had visible signs of termites and what we believe were bed bugs. Both my partner and I developed itchy rashes during our stay, and another guest we spoke with mentioned the same issue. This alone would have been a serious concern, but it was not the only problem.
There were dogs barking loudly throughout the night, which made it very difficult to sleep. The beds were extremely firm, more like sleeping on a wooden plank than a mattress. The pool is not a proper swimming pool. It is ocean water that gets pumped in and left to sit, becoming murky and warm after a few days.
The restaurant food was mediocre at best, yet surprisingly expensive for the quality. While the staff was friendly, it did not make up for the general discomfort and lack of cleanliness throughout the property.
We do not leave negative reviews lightly, but we felt it was important to share our experience so other travelers can make an informed decision. The setting is beautiful, but the maintenance, hygiene, and overall value are not what they should be.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matt (10/5): Great location, great staff, great facilities - Lots of shade, but also beaches nearby for sun. Great staff very helpful. Nothing
- Chloe (7/5): A great pick for 2-3 nights on the island - Location was great and gave the possibility to watch stunning sunsets. The staff was friendly and informative and the hut was big and clean. The food was tasty and filling. The food was pricey and the menu limited. The number of day tourists coming by boat to the resort pushed us to leave the resort and to explore the island during the day. For the price we expected better/more consistent service.
- Jack (4/5): Unpleasant and noisey - Quite pretty although rustic. We were the only guest there apart from 5 guys that were friends with the bar staff.
On our last night the 5 guys and the bar staff invited 4 young girls to the resort to get drunk and play loud musics whilst screaming and shouting until 2 in the morning.
The rooms have no noise insulation so when the group of guys were shouting outside our bedroom at 2am I had to politely tell them to go away.
The noise was insane and we were unable to sleep, if we’d have booked a party hotel it would have been fair enough, but we booked this hotel for pints tranquility.
When paying the bill at the end of the trip, the staff had added an extra drink on to the bill and put up a good fight when we told them we never bought it.
It became clear why there weren’t any guests at the hotel. Apart from the boatfulls of yanks that turn up everyday.
There are cheaper and better hotel options on the island.
- Diana (9/5): Superb -
- Begale (3/5): Beautiful space but not worth it. - Liked the food and the workers were nice. It seemed that the people doing day trips were more important. Everything took longer than expected or was said it would; food, drinks, check, excursions. Waiters would forget what they were getting. Basic things like toilet paper or kayaks not full of water. The place has potential but needs attention to detail with service.
- Daniel (10/5): fantastic - beautiful place, good food, relaxing no dessert options on the menu. not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination but food for thought. pun intended
- Tania (10/5): I recommend it. Friendly staff, good food and views - Nice hotel, relaxing and good food Everything was good, just we thought we would have a private swimming pool but actually it is for everybody.
- Ufuk (8/5): A beautiful and restful stay! - This was a marvelous stay. The property was beautiful and in harmony with nature. In addition there were two pools, plenty of hammocks and lots of chairs. Despite some daily visitors coming in and out during the day from boat tours, there were very few guests. Therefore all of the facilities were essentially yours. The staff was super friendly and always helped us with our food and drinks. The boat trip in and out of the island was super hectic. The company was extremely disorganized and it was very hard to navigate on which ship to board, who to talk to, and make sure we are going to the right place. Especially on the trip to the island. The boat trip costs an additional $50 per person round trip and was also very packed. A small boat was carrying dozens of people at a very high speed. I wish that trip felt easier and safer.
In addition, be ready to pay some pretty penny for food and drinks.
- Sean (1/5): Bad - Our experience at Mulata was awful. Where do I begin.
The room we stayed in wasn’t the best. There was black mould all over the sink and no hot water at all for our entire stay. There were constantly insect droppings falling from the roof all over one side of the main bed so my partner and I had to sleep in seperate beds.
The food and drinks are exorbitantly expensive. Around 80,000 cop for a meal and 45,000 cop for a cocktail. It’s pretty isolated so alternative options for food are very limited. We managed to eat once at Hamaquero which was much cheaper. Half the items on the already limited food menu were unavailable. We ate the same 2 dishes for basically 4 days straight, lunch and dinner.
Each day, boat loads of day tripping tourists come to the hotel for a day party, they play really loud music and get drunk. After they leave, the 2 small salt water pools are really dirty and since there is pretty much no access to the ocean, your only option for a nice swim is in the morning before the crowds arrive.
During our stay I got really sick and had to spend a day staying close to the toilet. We asked the hotel staff to replace our toilet paper 3 times and they didn’t do it. We had to get our own. We also asked them to clean our room multiple times, they even offered to clean it at one stage, but it never happened. In a 4 night stay! We were the only guests staying in the entire place!
At the end of our stay we were presented with a bill for all the drinks and food we had, plus some of the accommodation (some of it was paid upfront) and my partner also had a massage. They added a 10% service charge to the entire bill, including the accommodation! As if it wasn’t already expensive enough. They must think their guests are billionaires. We refused to pay it. It’s sad because some of the staff who we interacted with were really lovely and helpful, and normally I would have wanted to tip them but the bill was already so expensive that we just couldn’t afford it. The entire place is set up to rip tourists off. It’s so blatant that it makes the experience much less enjoyable. Another example is there is no access to drinking water in the hotel. The only way you can drink water is to buy 500ml bottles for 10,000 cop each. Half our bill was bottles of water. It’s hot and humid, people need water!
And the worst thing of all is the “transport” that they organised for us back to Cartagena. We were told it was a 45 minute boat ride. It took 2 and a half hours. We were packed onto a very small and old boat with about 50 other people like sardines, and we spent the entire trip getting completely drenched. Our bags were soaked, our clothes. And the boat operator had the nerve to ask us for more money when we got off. Absolutely horrible experience.
The island is beautiful and when we got out of the hotel, we had a really nice time. I recommend Isla Grande, just don’t stay here.
- Guzman (9/5): Superb - Very clean and pleasant cabin. The facilities in general are very well maintained. Also good cuisine and welcome cocktailVery clean and pleasant cabin. The facilities in general are very well maintained. Also good cuisine and welcome cocktail Hotel has no beach. Only a dock, in front of a channel where all the boats coming from Cartagena pass by. Lot of them with very loud music.
- Lara (7/5): Good - - comfortable queen size bed
- delicious cocktails
- nice sunset view
- two little pools
- peaceful - food order takes forever and is very expensive
- no room keys
- daily guests at midday from the boat tours have priority
- bad service (waiter didn't know how to prepare our coffee the third day, although we were the obly hotel guests)
- no room cleaning every day (necessary bc of the sand)
- sunbeds aren't cleaned
- music with promotions
- animals enter the bedroom easily
- official beach is 30min walk away
- Michael (8/5): Little Paradise needing a few updates. - Beautiful scenery, good food, friendly eager to help staff. Noisy neighbors. Water should be included. Better paddles for kayak. Adding grass or mulch would reduce sand and beautify area. Be sure to bring mosquito repellent. The AC helps little at night due to rustic style construction which needs insulation.
- Solomon (10/5): Great place for a couples outing. Easy way to get away from the overpopulated resorts. - It was small. Not too many people. Very limited meal selection but it was tasty.
- Lynn (10/5): It felt like being in paradise! - Great location with sunset view; lovely grounds and well-tended landscaping; very clean and peaceful; two small pools, great for cooling off; excellent food and drinks; friendly and helpful staff; highly recommend the large bamboo hut with ocean view, the best room on the island! Difficult to swim in front of property due to boats going by - no beach or swimming area
- Alessandro (1/5): Stay away - Just the location No beach, no services, nothing to do, no variety of food, uncomfortable rooms, terrible swimming pools, no wifi
- Gina (10/5): Paradise on Earth - A paradise, our stay was more than a 5 stars. We had the island almost to ourselves. Jesus and Keyla made us feel welcomed as well as all the staff. Was a bit bummed when I arrived because there is no beach but the hotel has 2 wonderful saltwater infinity pools that over look the sea that are much better that being on a beach because the Island are coral Islands and you need water shoes. The food was very good. Homey, but very tasty and well done. I am a vegan and the when our of their way to create option for me. We did an upgrade to the room and I think it was well worth it because the main suite over looks the pools and sea and waking up to that view was to die for. Would stay there again in heart beat. Highly recommended. Wine selection was limited. We did not have any Wifi. They said that they are working on it so I hope next time we go there is wifi.
- Monica (10/5): It was amazing!! - We were unable to stay at Isla Mulata due to a power outage. They promptly informed us and made arrangements for us to stay at Isla del Encanto. They arranged transportation and ensured our stay was amazing! Thank you Jose for making our 10th anniversary special!
- Sebastian (10/5): Welcoming, relaxing and more home-ish then hotel-ish.. Which I really liked. - I loved everything about the property! The room, the staff, the salt water pools, the hammocks, the food. Amazing! Hidden gem on a hidden island. If you are lucky enough to stumble upon this place, book it straight away! Possible to arrange activities if requested. Highly recommend a tour through the mangroves. Special thanks to Jorge who really take great care of me! Amazing service and company! Hope to come back again soon! Really don’t have any complaints. Staff made sure I was good taken care of and that everything was great at all times.
