Guest Reviews
- Julia (8/5): Very good value for money if you don’t mind sharing a bathroom. - Good location, quiet and friendly. The kitchen was very well equipped. We had to ask for more toilet paper! There wasn’t much cutlery.
- Guest (4/5): Good location but don’t get room B3! - The location was great, and main house was nice. We were quite disappointed as got put in a different room than I had booked. It was in the basement, lacked windows, smelled of mildew, didn’t have a private bathroom (like it promised) and the bed was rock hard.

- IGNACIO (10/5): Muy muy tranquilo - Ubicacion
Tranquilo
Muy familiar y amigable Todo bien
- Jleung (7/5): Overall it was a pleasant stay! - The location is good, safe and quiet.
4 of us had the Master Bedroom of the house. I guess it's the biggest room in the big house. The house is 7,xxx sq.ft. with 3 levels. It is very interesting and it will be fun to play hide and seek in there! We were on the highest level. Our bathroom is very spacious. There was a balcony next to our room. The bed was comfortable and the room seemed clean enough for most people. The owner's instruction is clear enough. Great value for this stay! They should rearrange the furnitures in some of the interior area.. It will make the inside (common area) look more spacious. It was only a short stay (a night) for us so we didn't use the kitchen. The house is clean enough for my husband and kids, but not up to my standard. A deep cleaning throughout the house will make it look more refresh!
- Jasmine (9/5): I will be back!! - It was a beautiful property with a stunning garden on both sides of the house, A rainfall shower with plenty of soaps, and a beautiful hardwood floor kitchen with all the utensils needed The only “issue” was the bed was so big that it barely fit in the room!
- Syed (5/5): Good property but very cheap mentality of owner. - Good internet, location, online staff quick help.they provide extra mattress. Nice kitchen There was no breakfast. The staff is helpful but doesn't understand English and use Google translate.
The online staff is helpful but they seem quite paranoid by sending instructions after instructions. The online photos didnt natch as I thought there were two queen beds or 1 king abd 1 queen but instead there were 2 twin beds.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (4/5): Falsely-advertised space in Kerrisdale. - The food offered in breakfast, the living space, the laundry facility. Our room was advertised as having a lock and it doesn't. They all use an Allan key to jimmy the rooms open, meaning anyone has access if you lock it or if you leave it unlocked which is unfortunate. I tried to communicate with the woman on site but she spoke Chinese into an app which translated, though the person messaging me within Booking.com was writing in English. There was no sugar to be found in the house and no one around checking on the satisfaction of those staying. Also some sleeping areas didn't have walls but were open to the elements of the house.
- Schratz (2/5): Very poor -
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good. Private bathroom. There wasn’t an exterior lock to my room, I had to keep anything valuable with me. Would have had to cook my own breakfast, ended up going out instead.
Not the hosts fault, but someone was sleeping on the couch outside my window and their snoring kept me awake from 2am to 5am.
- Anonymous (5/5): More of a hostel than we expected. - Price and communication from host. Out of toilet paper and towels in the bathroom. So many stairs, not appropriate for people with mobility issues. No lock on door for when we went out, but was from the inside. It was VERY basic accommodation. Room not cozy, just a bare room.
- Sandor (3/5): Poor - Only the room was colder than the host/staff.
- Michael (1/5): It has all the disadvantages of a hostel, but not a single advantage. - Nothing comes to my mind. Shortly before booking, an additional charge was made to the credit card for a deposit of CAD 300. It then took about a week for the money to be refunded. A truly unnecessary and tedious process; had we known this beforehand, it would have been a red flag.
We had to provide an arrival time in advance, only to discover that it was self-check-in anyway and no staff member was on site. We initially had problems with the door, but we couldn't reach anyone to help us. Even when we found the showers dirty, we couldn't report this to any of the staff. We simply refrained from showering during our stay because we were simply disgusted at being dirtier after showering than before. And one evening, we ran out of toilet paper, since you have to share the bathroom with all the other rooms. But there was no one on site to refill it. Luckily, we had tissues with us to help us. Hopefully the other guests were as lucky as we were and had something to help themselves with.
And now the worst part: The room door doesn't lock!
The house is a normal family home that has been converted into six bedrooms for guests, and accordingly, the doors have normal doorknobs like in a normal house. There's no way to safely lock your belongings inside when you leave the room! The door simply doesn't have a lock from the outside, so the entire house and all other guests have access to the room at any time.
Since it's also a normal older house, the floor is made of wood and the doors are as thin as cardboard. You can hear every single noise from the room next door, from the hallway, and from the ceiling when people move around on the floor, and you can hear people using the toilet (by the way, there's only one toilet/shower per floor).
In summary, this accommodation is worse than a hostel. You have all the disadvantages of a hostel, including shared bathrooms and lots of noise from other guests.
- Kathy (9/5): Beautiful house and close to the airport - Hostess was very gracious. My only concern was the trash in the bathroom was very full and a bit uncomfortable
- Paul (10/5): Three-day stay in a lovely Vancouver house - Beautiful house in a nice neighborhood. No designated parking space, but street parking is easily possible. Big kitchen with all necessary kitchenware and coffee. Spacious terrace with seating opportunities. Room B2 had all essentials – bed for two, desk with chair, curtains, and built-in wardrobe. Easy self check-in with smart lock. Host responds fast via Booking chat. No possibility to lock the room from the outside (inside locking possible). Room is in the basement, temperature can get chilly, but heating in the room is available. Lovely but shared bathroom with two other rooms. Side note for in-person inquiries: main host does not speak English (very friendly though).
- Andrea (3/5): No locks on the doors - I've stayed at this location before and had no problems with it - it's a bit of an odd set up, given that the owners (?) appear to live in the common areas, but for the price in Vancouver, and being close to trendy Kerrisdale and transit, it was a totally adequate place to stay for a day or two. This time, when I arrived there was no key for the private room I had rented. When I asked the older woman who appeared to be cleaning staff (?), where the keys were, she directed me to an Allen key that sat on a table in the common living area. Every door in the house had been replaced with the equivalent of a bathroom locking door - you push the pin from the room side, but to unlock the door, you push the Allen key through the small hole in the door handle. I actually took a bobby pin with me in case another guest took the Allen key and I could use that to 'unlock' my door. Every room in the house is now like this, so anybody staying here can open any other room in this house.
I didn't feel safe leaving any valuables in the room when I went out in the afternoon, and I put all my luggage behind the door when I went to sleep at night because, as a single female traveler, I wanted advance notice if someone tried to open my room door.
What makes the situation even worse is that nobody will see this review, as the owners have removed this specific listing and have re-listed the home with a new description and no reviews. I had planned to stay at this location for future Vancouver visits but have since cancelled those reservations due to the lack of security.
- Will (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (10/5): nice owners, comfortable and clean rooms - Very nice owners, they were always in touch with us, and responded immediately! the house is like in a fairy tale.
- Alina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yoko (8/5): Very good - The basement room was a little cold, but the host quickly turned on the heater. It's a little far from downtown, but everything else was good.
It was a really wonderful stay to us. We'll definitely be staying there again soon. One important note: A deposit of 300 CAD was deducted, but it will be refunded if there is no damage to the room. Because we kept the room in good condition, We trust that the deposit will be fully refunded, and I look forward to receiving it.
- Elle.bee (5/5): Good value for location, however not the cleanest or most comfortable - Big beautiful house, free laundry facilities and wifi, shampoo and soap in bathroom. Private bathroom for our two basement rooms was nice. Mattress was super hard like a concrete slab with a sheet, carpet in room had definitely not been vaccuumed, kitchen was dirty, sponge overdue for a change. Also would have liked to be told about the planned power outage that was happening the night we arrived.
- Markus (10/5): Perfect - All perfect and clean. There is no parking place directly by the house.
Only on the street another side.
- Valeriia (8/5): Good - Good location
- Erin (10/5): Great stay - This property was really great and homely. A really affordable place to stay in Vancouver and the free on street parking was a great perk.
- Allen (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): Was a great location for us as it was close to our daughter's residence. Clean and easy to access. - Room was clean and comfortable and we were glad of having the private bathroom. The bed was a bit small for two people. A full queen size would have been better, but the mattress was really good. There was only one full sized bath towel provided and we asked for another, but it was not provided.
- Nazir (1/5): Bad - Shit place
- Davide (10/5): I can’t wait to come back in this cozy house - Quietude, beds, and big kitchen with everything for cooking .a big garden and a warm room . All you need to stay in Vancouver. The house is near saving on food and a beautiful thrifty shop . Only there were not a chair in the room
- Kc (9/5): I’d stay again, great value for money. - Location was great, close to many restaurants and 10-15 min drive from downtown/mainstreet ($10 ubers) and the airport was only ($17) from the location. Bus access and there is a nice walking path not too far from the house. the light switches connect to other rooms, so if my neighbour turned on their light, it sometimes turned on mine as well.
- Jai (10/5): Exceptional - The location and how kind the owners were. Other people there
- Alejandro (7/5): Wonderful place, regular staff, terrible “neighbour” (other guests) - Beautiful, posh furniture.
A good bed and mattress. Guests have quiet hours but the owners don’t (or whoever use the private rooms) and they are very noisy and seem to activate themselves at night.
Common areas such as bathroom were not properly taken care of.
- Bainard (9/5): Lovely home in Vancouver - The house was lovely, older but not sure of the era. I had a room on the 2nd floor, but the host carried my bag up and down for me. Had a little trouble coming in with the instructions (not clear). I thought it was closer to the Canada Line than it actually was.
- Regina (5/5): Passable -
- Japhet (10/5): Exceptional - Buy tissue for the bathroom next time Close to town 87
- Scott (3/5): Dungeon room b5 - Staff helped me with front entrance issue in a courteous manner. Location. I stayed in B5, which locked but could be pushed open without unlocking. So not safe or secure.
There were no light switches in the room, the lights were controlled by the same switch in the hallway for the hallway lights. Also there was a switch near the bathroom which also activated my bedroom lights so guests could by mistake light up my room randomly.
The room(which was in the basement) was extremely hot as there were no windows which is illegal and dangerous in case of a fire but also the heater vent wasn't properly installed / finished so even when the vent was closed heat pumped around the exterior and into the room. Also no thermostat in room.
Box spring bed was very hard. King size was too big for the room it was placed in.
Absolutely terrible room. Had to work each morning and slept terribly. Will not stay again, do not recommend.
- Frans (9/5): Superb - It was close to allot of attractions Loud neighbours
- Lucas (9/5): Superb -
- Joy (8/5): Very good -
- Mohamed (1/5): Terrible, dirty, suffocating - Nothing, staff are not helpful at all and never addressed the issues Place is dirty, not very friendly place , shared bathroom only one that is available and guest using it to shave for 3 hours and there is hair all over the room
- Wai (10/5): Best and cheapest place I’ve stayed! Will definitely come again especially $250 for one week! - Amazing place! Loved everything!
- Ian (8/5): Very good - Price. Nice hot water and pressure for shower. The room was in the basement. The common area was quite cold at night. The 1st night I needed an extra sweater to sleep. The light switch to the room also included the light for the common area. I was a bit anxious that someone would turn on the light in the common area at night not realizing that the light in my room would turn on while I was sleeping. Since the price was good, I was able to put up with all this
- Raquel (1/5): Horrible - The old table in the kitchen. That is all Toilet paper was over and no one replaced after informing them.
Basic need.
All night with lights on (no switch in the room) and heater off. Small room.
They want to save money at all cost.
- Claudette (1/5): Did not stay. Property did not meet out needs. - Unfortunately we did not stay as the property did not meet our needs. The description did not match what we found.
- Bilau (8/5): Very good -
- Siddhartha (5/5): Passable -
- Leonardo (10/5): Comfortable and affordable short term rental. -
- Sandra (9/5): Superb -
- Cassandra (6/5): Pleasant -
- Binto (6/5): Pleasant -
- Yegor (8/5): Definitely a very nice spot for short term stays in Vancouver! - Great location, and in general the house has all needed facilities. The instructions for the check-in were very clear, and the host was super responsive! The cleaniness of both the bedroom and the bathroom could be improved.
- Timothy (8/5): Very good -
- Ribumon (3/5): Poor - They didn't clean the floor under the bed.
It was so dirty. Please inform to them,
I felt dust allergic
- John (1/5): Avoid like the plague! - Nice neighborhood close to Kerrisdale shops and restaurants. If your thinking of staying here be sure to read ALL of the reviews! It sounds like there may be a one nice room upstairs but from what I experienced downstairs, the rooms have no windows, are separated by a hollow cored door ( we could clearly hear the couple talking quietly literally a few feet away). The king size bed only left about 6 inches on either side and was basically just the box spring with no mattress with one blanket that may as well have been a burlap sack. There is no sound proofing between floors. The room had not been vacuumed, The shared fridge was completely full with just a small plastic tray for each room. Where you could see into the owners living area there were big messy piles of laundry. The entry door was never locked day or night when we arrived or departed. We stayed 2 out of 4 nights booked. Worst B+B EVER!!!
- Jeanette (3/5): Never Ever returning there! - The property was all that was available for a price I could afford for a Taylor Swift concert. The fee was elevated due to demand for the concert The communication prior to arrival was poor. When my daughter and I arrived the initial room offered was in a basement with no ventilation, windows or in room bathroom or mirrors. I complained to the staff or owner? She spoke poor English and her young son interpreted. Was given another room upstairs after being told it would cost me more money which I refused. Already paid $350/night which was a joke! When moved upstairs the room and bathroom were dirty and only a bedspread on the bed. The second night we arrived late after the concert and we had been locked out from the front gates. What a disaster. I would Never recommend this place!
- Angela (4/5): Would never stay here again. Totally overpriced. - Great location, totally weird place. Only 1 towel provided. No chair or table or waist paper basket in room. No where to hang towel to dry. One 1 of 3 lights worked. The place smelled.
- Silva (10/5): Exceptional -
- Enyeart (10/5): Exceptional - Great neighborhood
- Ilia (10/5): ❤️ - ❤️ ❤️
- Lan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harpreet (8/5): Very good -
- Shelby (7/5): Beautiful location and such a cool home inside and out. Owner responded promptly to all my messages - Beautiful old character home, so cool outside and inside Cleanliness of the bathroom- it wasn’t terrible by any means, just hand soup was empty and mirror and shower needed a little clean. Even tho they charge you 50$ - thought it would be spotless for that kind of charge
- Mohammad (1/5): third class property owner. - very bad property owner. rude behavior in message.
- Mayra (9/5): Superb -
- Baumann (4/5): I would definitely not recommend to stay there, these people have no idea how to run their business, awful!! - It was a good neighbourhood and a pretty house after all. The shared bathroom was cleaned on the 5th day of my stay, that’s really gross. They blocked 500$ on my credit card for ikea furniture that they got for free I assume, that’s nowhere typical, even at better hotels the deposit isn’t more than 100$. The walls are so thin you could hear the person in the next room breathing. For 60$ a night you don’t even get a chair or a separate place in the fridge for your food. The doors where complete unlocked several nights to the building.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diana (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (8/5): Grab It If Price is Good ! - We were happy with the size of the room given to us although it used to be a former AV Room.
Landlord is nice to us. Happy with the large house that we stayed in. Big kitchen space & table to share meal with other occupants. Easy check in and check out. Bus stop to town is just down the road, less than 4 minutes away. The limited storage space in the fridge & cabinet to keep our food.
No convenience store around the homestay - planning is needed to stock up food.
- Kale (8/5): Very good -
- Aman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Viktoriia (8/5): Very good -
- Mike (2/5): Disappointing and not charming at all - Very clean except for the mould on the ceiling downstairs. We chose a room with a king size bed expecting it to be a reasonable size. Instead , it was about 8 feet wide and 15 long. No window, no tv or radio, no night tables, no clock, poor light, very hot. The room was very narrow making getting into bed difficult. The bed was very uncomfortable. There was a feeble wire frame cloth covered "closet" leaning in the corner. Access to plugs to charge our phones was limited. No Kleenex, one bath towel, one office chair on a tiny chipped desk. Street parking a nuisance. There is a shared kitchen upstairs with a coffee pot. They neglected to mention you need to bring your own #4 filters and ground coffee. You would have to share with 6 other rooms.
Overall, very disappointing
Very clean, very nice people. Most Things
- Daza (8/5): A nice charming place to stay! - The location was good, very nice neighborhood, and the house is beautiful, the kitchen is spacious and the owners were really nice! Everything was fine!
- Ping (10/5): Exceptional - The room was very clean and very large, and the host was very nice and hospitable. We had a great 3 nights and will stay again if we have a chance.
- Lee (10/5): Nice and quiet - Privacy very friendly
- Greg (1/5): What happens when you turn storage rooms to bedrooms? - Nice communal spaces Rooms are NOT legal bedrooms. They don't have windows! No ventilation. Stuffy basement rooms converted to bedrooms.
- Jerry (8/5): Very good - Great location, quiet, good parking availability on the street, historic character of bedroom. Mattress was super firm. Bedroom drapes were not operational with cord pulls. Would have been nice to have a box of kleenex and a bar of soap or liguid soap dispenser in the unit.
- Sniedze (7/5): Good location and the house has so much potential if one would take care to it. - House is spacious and nice, love the garden area It’s not clean
- Kwok (8/5): Very good - Quiet, good neighbourhood, convenient to public transport.
- Aldo (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (1/5): Found other accommodation after our booking was cancelled at the last minute for no good reason. - We didn't end up staying at this property, having booked in May and paid in full. Thirty-six hours before we were due to check-in, just as we were about to board our flight to Vancouver, the managers of this property asked for an additional bond payment. There was a temporary glitch with our credit card, and they cancelled our booking. They refused to reinstate it, offered no help to find alternative accommodation, and gave a number contradictory explanations for their action ("there are bed bugs"; "there is another booking"; 'it was the system"). Booking.com never listed our booking as cancelled. People who are inept, dishonest and untruthful should not be in the accommodation management business. Judge for yourself whether you want to risk dealing with people like that.
- Benin (5/5): Passable - House was great, location very nice, beautiful garden, terrace and kitchen. Clean facilities. There was lack of air and moldy smell. Bed matress was very hard to sleep on.
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Anacriz (7/5): It was okay - Price, location, owner is nice
- Fred (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (6/5): Pleasant - During the day, you can sometimes hear the staff speaking very loudly across the hotel.
- Frank (7/5): Very nice place at a reasonable price - Very hard or no mattress at all
- Lucy (5/5): Was a decent accommodation, however it’s unsettling to have no windows or exterior doors in the bedroom. - There was free street parking, a nice neighbourhood, a decent washroom and kitchen facility. There were no windows or exterior doors in the bedroom, which is illegal in Canada.
- Monika (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (8/5): Very good - A nice 3 night stay. The beds were comfortable and excellent value
- Neil (7/5): Good - Use of kitchen and laundry Limited english of staff, noise from staff post 10 pm in their kitchen and living area
- Benno (6/5): Clean accommodation for short stay - The family living in this big house is renting several rooms to visitors like us. We got the room B6 for two nights and here is what we liked:
- very clean house and room
- lots of appliances for usage
- Bus stop only 2min away by walking
- Fast communication with the host
- Easy check-in and check-out Here is what we disliked:
- you can hear every step and every scratch in the entire house. If you have light sleep this might be an issue
- the room in the basement was cool and humid. It would be nice to have some sort of ventilation/ fresh air down there
- During peak season, it was not possible to check-in earlier and there is no opportunity to store luggage
- The family living in this house is not really approachable and they live in their own part of the house which leads to an unusual host experience
If you are looking for a stay for maximum two nights, this may do it.
- Bashini (1/5): Did not get the room i booked - I liked the location. I didnt get the room i booked. The image of the room i booked was with windows and a private en suite bathroom
The room i got was a basement room with no windows or any ventilation whatsoever and i did not get a private or ensuite bathroom. I had to share the bathroom with 2 other rooms. When i inquired regarding it, they told me the bathroom is private for me. Which was a lie.
- Nataliia (10/5): Fabulous villa with piano!! - Absolutely fantastic place with fantastic hosts! Everything clean, shining, looks gorgeous!! The host has kindly upgraded our room without additional charge. The room had another room inside dedicated for storage and wardrobe. Highly recommending! For my tall height of 6.1 feet the bed was too short and the feet were in the air. Still I had a wonderful and comfortable sleep.
- Clarissa (10/5): Quiet location, great facilities - Mini apartment with 2 double beds in adjoining rooms (no door in between). Loads of space, a balcony to go outside, massive bathroom with an amazing shower and multiple sinks which was fantastic. Laundry facilities were convenient as well and the kitchen was super useful and it was great having a fridge space to use for lunches and making breakfast etc. Kitchen would benefit from a bigger variety of cooking utensils, but we made do with what was there.
