Guest Reviews
- Timothy (5/5): Passable for a night, but felt a bit expensive for what we got - Checkin was easy, rooms were ok but unremarkable. It's university student dorms and was passable for a night. Hard to get to, especially with Toronto transit being so confusing due to construction. Nothing on the website to help us there.
Probably should've looked closer to see that it was university dorms. I guess "Residence and Conference Center" should've been my first clue, but the "Conference Center" bit sounded like a proper hotel.
Kitchen had no cutlery, plates, pans...nothing. So, only the fridge and microwave were useful.
Beds were quite small for two adults. Curtains don't really block out much light either.
- Lillian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nckjnssn (6/5): Basic, but fine - Good location (nearby bike station, coffee bar & supermarket)
Spaceous room Limited facilities (there is a microwave, but nothing else like cutlery, plates, water cooker,...)
Rooms get very light in the morning as there are no real curtains
Tv did not work
It's more a student housing and not a hotel
- Susan (7/5): Good -
- Rakib (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brianna (4/5): disappointing, changed to a different hotel not even half way through our stay - rooms were spacious, pretty cheap not downtown, kind of in the lower end part of toronto, nothing close by, smelly, could hear everyone around our room, had to use our key in order to use power, SMELLY
- K (6/5): This is budget accommodation. They have a kitchenette and absolutely no kitchenware. - The staff were very helpful and the accommodation was clean. The fact that they had a kitchenette and absolutely no kitchenware. They were too lousy to even put a couple of ceramic coffee cups in the accommodation. You have to sign at reception to get an electric jug. When we asked for a couple of plates they gave us paper plates and plastic forks and spoons. No plastic knives??
The location is over 2km from the centre.
- Judy (8/5): Very good -
- Frances (7/5): Good location and reasonable price - Location. Good sized room. Reasonable price Staff not helpful. Pillows very uncomfortable. Too soft.
- Sian (9/5): Superb - Good location. Comfortable beds. No kitchen pots, etc. We did know about this, and understand why, but did miss them.
Also, one bed was unmade for the entire stay. Apparently because personal items were on the bed!
- Katryna (7/5): Overall a good stay and would be back - Staff was great, location was great. Room was spacious and good price! the key card not working so we had to call security each time to lock up for us. And the elevator not working few times, put in a good work out going down 6 flights of stairs lol
- Martin (5/5): Passable - It’s students accomodation, so the kitchenette shown on the booking did not come with utensils to cook with .
The sixth floor has a communal kitchen with a stove and oven , but it did not feel right to vacate your room .
- Wing (8/5): Very good -
- Robinson (8/5): A great Toronto location in a clean and comfortable George Brown residence building - We liked how clean and comfortable this setup is. Knowing the kitchen is not populated ahead of time did not lead to disappointment. The location is excellent. Central enough to walk if you want or grab TTC easily. Plus, the Distillery District is cool enough on it's own. Nearby trails for the Don valley or Tommy Tompson park make this area perfect. The city bikes available out front was good too. We will return here in our next visit to the city. Not a major for us, but we did try to contact them before arrival by the booking messenger with no reply and then the phone number goes direct to answer machine. Had our concern been urgent this could have been an issue.
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (9/5): Superb -
- Harverson (9/5): Superb - Very clean, great sized rooms, and perfect for families.
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Gia (8/5): Very good -
- Johanna (10/5): 2nd time staying. Always great! - Close to Roger’s Center and the CN tower.
- Catherine (6/5): Budget accomodation - We liked that the tram stops made central downtown very accessible. We were unhappy with the cleanliness of the room, there was thick dust on the desks and bedframes. There was also hair on the shelves and mould in the toilet bowl. Having said that, when I raised this with booking.com we were given the option of switching rooms.
- Krista (10/5): It was great! Would stay there again during summer months - Location was excellent! Loved the downstairs coffee shop and the fact that there was a grocery store right across the street. No balcony but not a big deal since we were not in the room alot
- Diane (7/5): Budget friendly in great location - Location
Size of rooms No utilities crockery/cutlery
- Manuela (8/5): A pleasant experience. - The room is comfortable, but the bathroom could use some renovation – it feels quite old and outdated.
The location is good, with easy access to the city centre either on foot or by bus. Our room was very quiet. The bathrooms are in need of some improvements.

- Agnes (8/5): Very good -

- Elliot (8/5): Good value for a quick stop in Toronto - Clean and easy access. Missing stores on bedroom windows.
- Steven (7/5): Good -
- John (8/5): Space! - Spacious rooms. Not being able to use the stairs but having to rely on the lifts, even to go down one floor.
- George (10/5): Only stayed one night before flying home for London. Good space for a studio room. - Very central within Toronto. I liked the property on a whole.
- Antonia (8/5): Very good -
- Sophie (8/5): Very good - The location was absolutely perfect short walk to the distillery district like 2 mins. The underground parking was great price for Toronto and it was a great clean underground parking garage. Beds were small they were just double size which is small for 2 adults.
- Olha (10/5): Exceptional - I like it
- Jeske (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zhihong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant - Place was clean and close by to downtown Could have provided basic tea coffee amenities
- Jen (7/5): Good - Very clean, location and price were great! We had the thermostat to the lowest and it was really warm at night.
- Anna (8/5): Great location, amazing staff - Location, staff
- Heather (9/5): Superb - The rooms were spacious, comfy beds and great air con. Location was excellent with shops, bars and local transport nearby. So easy to get to Downtown Toronto from a bus stop round the corner, 15mins was all it took. Staff were very friendly too. No complaints 😊 Nothing.
- Nadia (8/5): Totally worth it! - Amazing location, staff very friendly, very clean! The smell of the carpet is a bit strong, but other than that it was amazing!
- William (2/5): Terrible - Nothing Room was basic to say the least, only serviced once in five days which meant I always had to go to reception every evening to get fresh towels and toiletries, which were advertised as being provided. No tea/coffee facilities and parking, which was supposed to be free for guests wasn’t, which was one of the reasons I selected this location. Overall terrible.
- Vijaykumar (7/5): Good -
- Yuan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Great location, large rooms, value for money -
- Sean (8/5): Very good -
- Streicher (10/5): Exceptional - Great property, clean great location and great price No cooking utensils.
- Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- Hanh (8/5): Very good - Great location with easy access to the Distillery District and other nearby attractions. The price was very reasonable for the area. The air conditioning worked well, keeping the space comfortable during the summer. Service was courteous and overall, a pleasant stay. There is a persistent strong odor on the first level, which can be quite unpleasant. The escalator operates very slowly, making it inconvenient at times. Additionally, there are occasional loud noises in the corridor, which can be disruptive.
- Nick (7/5): Good value for money and in a good location. -
- Sanaz (1/5): Card Reader didnt work - I was charged twice for my accommodation. I have sent emails to the manager for 4 days, but they refuse to refund the extra charge. Because of this, I had to take a taxi to sort things out, and the assistant helped us. Unfortunately, the manager Ahmed asked for unnecessary personal information from us via email and still refuses to refund the extra booking.
- Naisa (8/5): Very good -
- Ray (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aaron (5/5): Passable - Great location. Spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Elevators were broken - had to walk 7 flights of stairs. AC in the room couldn't bring the temperature down past 24 degrees.
- Anonymous (9/5): It was great - I loved the set up with the two rooms and the little kitchen and table, it was perfect for a family of 4. Beds are a bit small but very suitable for healthy people.
- Eduardo (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Nanette (9/5): very good atmosphere - Close to downtown but not too crowdy and noisy as downtown. No kettle.
- Maxime (9/5): Superb - Great location
Clean
Great value for money Not enough towels at first, had to go ask for more
Air conditioning was not functional at first in one of our rooms, but was fixed after asking reception
- Nadiia (8/5): Very good -
- Braulio (4/5): Meh - The location There was a bad smell at the entrance and the rooms are way too hot.
- Marco (8/5): reasonable affordable option - Location
Spacious room conference area too hot, limited washrooms
- Orisha (9/5): Great stay for a quick little weekend trip! Would definitely stay here again. - We only went for the weekend so this was perfect. Rooms were a good size & very clean. Also great location! Would definitely stay here again. The shower was very very tiny & no streaming services.
- Valerie (8/5): Very good -
- Armand (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ron (7/5): Ideal location to tourist amenities and Union Station and a Starbucks next door ! - It's close proximity to the Hop on hop off Bus was brilliant plus the off street parking. The rooms were clean but quirky with two semi seperate lockable double bedrooms. Though described as having a kitchenette with sink, fridge, kitchen cabinets/draws and microwave oven it did not have any utensils, crockery, tea towels or coffee making facilities.....very bizarre and not expected.
- Shawn (7/5): Pleasurable - Coffee machine in room
- Kristian (8/5): Very good -
- Ann (8/5): Very good - Location good for us as we enjoy walking
Walking into the city was about a 40 minute walk
Brewery District just a 5 minute walk
Plenty of buses if needed There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room
- Puneet (7/5): Good -
- Karey (8/5): Very good -
- Yuliia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philipp (5/5): Passable -
- Johnathon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Niamh (4/5): Toronto Stay - Apartment style rooms are large Small double beds. Our room didn't lock and we mentioned this every day but nothing was done about it.
- Diego (8/5): Very good -
- Tara (9/5): Superb -
- Stefan (7/5): Good -
- Blessing (7/5): Good - Excellent location and we were able to store luggage for early arrival and late departure. Friendly staff The AC was on the warm side, only able to adjust fan level. The tap in the bathroom trickled very slowly, had to use cups to get water from kitchen tap. Mattress was average
- Ravi (9/5): Gret value in a really good location. - Probably the best value in toronto for a 4 person stay. Staff were excellent, location was great.
- Fiona (8/5): Very good -
- Greg (7/5): Good -
- Lessa-schmidt (9/5): Superb - The location and the side of the rooms was great. No kitchen appliances other than a couple of plastic cups.
- Mafe (8/5): Very good -
- Andrii (10/5): Exceptional - Very good location and staf. nothing
- Puneet (7/5): Good -
- Shi (9/5): Superb -
- Kathleen (8/5): Very good - Staff was friendly. I liked the location. We went out to dinner in the distillery district. We had dorm room expectations so we were happy enough. We had kids so it was nice to have them in another room. Only one working elevator. Needed to have dorm room expectations. As long as you had that expectation, you should be fine.
- Shay (5/5): Wouldn’t stay there again. - It was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. It was extremely over priced for the room we had to work with. One elevator was out of service which meant waiting upwards of 8 mins to be taken up or down. The hallways had a cheese smell as well.
- Sharon (9/5): Enjoyed our stay, separate rooms were great - Clean, comfortable Drain in bathroom sink slow
- Hugh (6/5): Pleasant -
- Yvonne (7/5): Long on location, but short on several areas. - If you’re looking for budget-friendly accommodation in downtown Toronto during the summer months, The Residence & Conference Centre – Toronto Downtown might catch your eye. Located at George Brown College’s Waterfront campus, it offers apartment-style suites with private bathrooms and basic kitchenettes. But while the price and location may appeal, the experience falls short in several areas. Staff at the front desk — also students — are polite but inconsistent. When I requested laundry detergent, I got different answers from different people.
Early checkout was also frustrating. At 7:00 AM, no staff were at the desk for nearly 15 minutes, and the on-site security ignored us completely. Be prepared for lapses in service.
The kitchenette includes a full-sized fridge, microwave, sink, and empty cabinets. But take note — there’s no stove, cookware, plates, or utensils. Even a kettle must be borrowed from the front desk (first come, first served).
there’s no hairdryer — you’ll need to borrow one from the front desk, like the kettle.
Rooms are generally clean. However, housekeeping is only offered for stays longer than four nights — and even then, it may be missed, as it was in our case.
While the location is excellent, the lack of basic amenities and inconsistent service makes this accommodation hard to recommend — especially at nearly CAD230 per night. If comfort, convenience, and good service matter to you, this is likely not the place to stay when visiting Toronto.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rafał (9/5): Great & affordable location for short night out - great location, quite nice room with amazing view over the city skyline. Possibility to leave luggae in the storage room to explore city. Nearby Distillery Disctric really enjoyable place for night out.
Safe and calm area nerby at the time we were there (mid June) As some other reviews stated - absolute luck of kitchen amenities - no cutlery, no plates, no mugs
bedding and carpet could be cleaner - it was stained here and there
- Farooq (8/5): Very good -
- Ravinesh (6/5): Was not happy as I had to buy things - Great location Nothing was available as in utensils and accessories. I had to go and buy cups and plates
- Michelle (7/5): Reasonable value, good location. - Good location, short walk to streetcars and buses. Good to have a basic kitchen. Basic accommodations but clean and comfortable. Only one elevator was working for the whole building, and the other elevator was out of service the 4 days we were there. There seemed to be nobody working on it the entire time. In spite of long elevator waits, we were not allowed to use the stairs. Stairs were only for emergencies
- Claire (6/5): It's student dorms so a bit basic but good value for the convenient location - Location was convienient for visiting downtown Toronto Only one lift working, no tea/coffee facilities
