• Emily (9/5): Such a special stay at Deni’s home- one we won’t forget for all the best reasons. - Deni is such an amazing host- super friendly and warm from the start. She was there to meet us at the top of the driveway and her husband helped park the car as it is quite steep. She gave really clear instructions so it wasn’t hard to find the apartment. The apartment is really special- traditional but very comfortable and we loved it. Lots of history within those walls- so nice to see old photos of Deni’s family and to hear about Albania’s history. Deni was very kind and gave us food which was an unexpected surprise. Also a short 5min walk to the bazzar and castle. We would highly recommend Deni’s place. Can feel quite cold in the apartment with the thick stone walls but the heaters warm it up very well.
• Milena (10/5): Tolle Unterkunft! - Tolle Unterkunft. Wir wurden von der Vermieterin herzlichst empfangen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Haus hat eine Geschichte und ist liebevoll hergerichtet. Perfekte Ausgangslage um die Stadt und die Umgebung zu erkunden. Die Kinder haben sich über die Katzen gefreut und konnten im Hof spielen.
• Milind (10/5): Loved our stay at Melodia - The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The apartment has a lot of history and it's a great story. The location is very convenient, close to the castle and the market. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable.

• Guest (9/5): A very comfortable apartment in a great area with a historic vibe. - Deni was an excellent host stocking her lovely historic apartment with food and necessities. We had trouble finding it with Google maps and when we called she met us and escorted us by car to the property.

• Dom V (10/5): Accueil exceptionnel, superbe logement, emplacement parfait. - Nous avons eu un accueil exceptionnel de la part de Denisa, qui est une personne très agréable. Denisa (qui parlait bien Français) nous a expliqué l'histoire de son logement, de sa famille ... ce qui a donné un sens supplémentaire à notre séjour. Nous gardons un très beau souvenir de belle cette rencontre. Pour nous accueillir, Denisa avait rempli le frigo avec entre autres, des fruits confits de fabrication familiale qui étaient excellents ! Le logement est bien restauré en conservant les matériaux nobles (bois et pierre) et très bien entretenu. Le logement est très bien situé, à proximité du centre historique de Gjirokastër (vieux bazar, château ...) et avec une belle vue sur les montagnes. Le matin, le chant du coq et l'ambiance rurale était appréciable. Le parking, à côté du logement, nous a permis de garer le véhicule pendant notre séjour, nous nous sommes déplacés à pied dans la vielle ville de Gjirokastër. TOUT ETAIT PARFAIT. Je recommande vivement, allez-y les yeux fermés, vous vivrez une très belle expérience :) Merci Denisa pour votre accueil. Rien, tout était parfait.

• CECILE (10/5): Super séjour à Girokaster ! - Proximité du centre historique : château, bazaar. Appartement spacieux et bien aménagé, rénové avec goût. Merci à Deni pour son accueil chaleureux, ses délicates attentions, ses conseils. Merci à son compagnon pour la manœuvre de parking voiture 😊 et à la petite mamie voisine, d'avoir retiré notre linge...juste avant l'orage ! Quelle bienveillance albanaise !!! Très bonne adresse, nous recommandons 👌👍. L'emplacement est top mais mieux vaut être équipé d'une petite voiture récente pour pouvoir grimper les pavés et manoeuvrer avec précision. Une bonne voiture est un vrai plus sur les routes albanaises en général.

• Claire (10/5): - In de oude stad van Gjirokaster heet Deni je welkom in haar ouderlijk huis dat ze met liefde en zorg gerenoveerd heeft. Bij een drankje vertelt ze over haar land en haar stad. Het meest warme welkom! Dicht bij de bazaar, voor zien van alle comfort. Twee badkamers, airco. In het huis is het ook lekker koel. Buiten kan je rustig genieten van een boek in gezelschap van de lieve buurtkat. Deni had aan alles gedacht: zelfs brood van de lokale bakker lag klaar. Wat een mooi en hartverwarmend verblijf.

• Abigail (9/5): Fantastic stay! - Brilliant stay at Melodia. The house is beautiful and very clean. It’s in a great location with a short walk into the old bazaar. The thing that stood out the most to us was the amazing hospitality from the owner. She met us at the house and provided us with lots of useful information on the history of Gjirokaster, local things to do and places to eat. She also left lots of fresh food, raki and treats. A wonderful place to stay and would definitely recommend! Everything was great.

• Andy (10/5): Wonderful restored property in the heart of the old town, near the bazaar area - - fantastic, welcoming host who gave us a great introduction to the city and the place, with super recommendations for things to do and places to eat - really well stocked and lots of details she had thought of (yoga mats, raki, lots of kitchen appliances and foods) - beautifully restored traditional home - amazing location near the bazaar - the record player was a great touch - our daughter loved the traditional slippers Was beyond reproach. • Martine (10/5): Beautiful historic house in Gjirokastër - Deni's house is perfectly located. It is a beautiful old style Gjirokastër house in walking distance of the bazar and the castle and with a stunning view on the mountains. Deni told us passionately about the history of Gjirokastër and her family. We had a perfect breakfast with home made jams and in the evening a home made raki. The bathroom upstairs is small, not really practical, but you get easily used to it.

The house that she restored is a wonderful place for everyone who wants to visit Gjirokastër, she has put her soul into every detail of the house so you can feel like home here. • Aaron (9/5): Well stocked. Great location. - Best stocked property ever. The food was great for the family. Milk, eggs, jam, bread, coffee, tea, and my personal favorite home made raki. Beautiful old building repaired by the family. 2 bathrooms is great. Tourist sights are walking distance. Great kitchen. Free baby crib. Driving in Gjirokastër is difficult, but once you park the car at the apartment, everything is walking distance. The parking is street parking, so there might be an issue during busy times. We were here in the winter during low tourist season so there were parking places available.

Great location for exploring the beautiful town of Gjirokastra. She made us feel very welcome with lovely homemade treats and breakfast supplies. Her apartment was fabulous…clean, comfortable with beautiful furnishings, old world charm and superb views over the town, valley and mountains. Staying at Melodia was a wonderful Albanian experience in many ways. Highly recommend. Nothing, it was perfect.

Shtepia ishte nje muze e vertet, me kujtime dhe histori qe te rrembenin. Nuk mungonte asgje, shtepi drite e paster, dhe Denisa (the host) si nje nikoqire e vertet na priti duke na qerasur alla gjirokastritce me likora te mira super te shijshme. U gjendem shume mire dhe e shijuan pafund kete fundjave. Kishte edhe disa gjera extra per te pregatitur nje mengjes te mire. E nese doni te lexoni ndonje liber te Kadare si une, i ka edhe ato! Shtepia eshte afer cdo atraksioni, afer ka parking dhe eshte lehtesisht e aksesueshme. Ps: Denisa You really restored a dream! Bonus part: Na humben disa suvenire te vogla qe i kishim harruar ne nje bar kafe, Denisa se bashku me bashkeshortin e saj i kane gjetur dhe sjell per 5 min. • Sive (10/5): Beautiful house, great location, brilliant and welcoming host - Beautifully renovated house. Great location. Brilliant host, lovely welcoming touches including local cuisine and drinks along with teaching us more on the history and culture of Albania.
• Sarah (8/5): Beautifully styled historic apartment in great location on the edge of the action - Our host was so lovely and so welcoming. To arrive at such a beautiful and historically significant location and receive a history lesson, snacks and homemade lemonade was really special. The apartment itself is full of and surrounded by history with lots of beautiful photos, artwork and books. It's beautifully styled, clean and in a great location just on the edge of all the action. The walls are quite thin between the apartments so unfortunately we could hear the neighbours footsteps and chatting very early in the morning - nothing that can really be helped and it's not an issue if you're an early riser anyway! It also would've been nice to have some outdoor furniture to be able to sit outside on the patio to enjoy the view of the mountains as the alternative is to hang out in quite a dim, below ground-level kitchen if you are travelling as a group. Both of these things are very inconsequential though as we were all very comfortable and happy staying there.

• Helen (10/5): It felt a real privilege to stay in this most beautiful and historical home. You have to stay here. - This is a must stay. We cannot give high enough praise for this accommodation. Everything was above and beyond all our expectations. The host felt like a friend. Denie picked us up from the bus station and gave us the warmest welcome to the most beautifully renovated home. Attention has been made to every little detail to protect the history and charm whilst bringing up to a very high standard. Homemade and local produce was left for us to enjoy and great information and advice was provided for us. The location is perfect too. I left my charger when I left Melodia and the host drove to the bus station to find me and return it. You have to stay here. Nothing. It’s amazing!
• Kate (10/5): Fabulous comfortable apartment - This is a beautiful, traditional apartment in the old town of Gjirokaster. Deni, the owner, has lovingly refurbished it without losing any of the buildings' character. The apartment is very well equipped, and Deni provided a welcome pack of eggs, homemade cake, bread, and milk along with other small treats. The apt is close to the old bazaar and other attractions and has parking. I definitely recommend 👌

We enjoyed spending the day in the area. Be sure to bring good walking shoes and water!The area is perfect to spend relaxing time! The house was as seen in the pictures, very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again! Outside of the unit there were a lot of flies, but none inside.
• Jörg (10/5): Melodia is a historical house, restored with love, with home made jam and delicious coffee. For us, a perfect introducti - The old neighborhood with heritage buildings all around, rooster sounds at dawn included, the breathtaking view over the valley and the carefully and tastefully restored family house were much appreciated. Speaking of family, Deniza welcomed us like we were dear relatives and made sure we had what we needed for our breakfasts for our stay. She took her time to share insider tips and her wide knowledge of Albanian and Gjirokaster culture and history. The beds were comfortable and everything is in good condition! 5 minutes walk to the Basar, close to 3 small museums. The stone walls construction means it takes a bit of time to heat up the ground floor, this is a plus in warmer seasons. Upstairs, where the bedrooms are, is a good AC and heating system. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Delightful host and beautiful home! - The host left eggs, bread (from the bast bakery), fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade jams, honey for us. Nothing, everything was perfect. Including bedside lamps for reading - most places do not have them. Host has thought out every detail. And she is delightful - the best host - very energetic and helpful with information regarding the town. The neighbor even brought in our laundry (& folded) when rain was predicted!

The home itself was quintessentially characteristic to Gjirokaster being an historic home with all the necessary modern amenities and more. The place was clean, comfortable beds, and the house itself is beautiful and historic. Most importantly it was next to the ethnographic museum and a few minutes walk to Gjirokaster’s most important historical monuments.

Denisa was amazing and she even left water and fresh fruits for us, so we could snack on something when we arrived. We absolutely loved everything about the property and our host and we would totally recommend the place.

It was a delight to stay here - a beautiful blend of old and new, and a great location close to the market. We had plenty of space for the four of us including our two adult children.
