Guest Reviews
- Brianna (10/5): - Such a beautiful location and a perfect stop on my road trip around Victoria. The cottage was beautiful and had everything I needed for a weekend trip to bake and cook meals! The highland cows and other animals were so cute and fun to interact with!
- Phil (10/5): We had a wonderful stay. The cottage is very well appointed. The hosts are very welcoming. - What a lovely little cottage.
- Joanna (10/5): Absolute gem of a cottage with lovely hosts. - Beautiful property in a quiet rural spot. Exceptionally well equipped kitchen. Some food stuffs provided. Great attention to detail. Very comfortable bed. Lovely bathroom with views of the fields. Wood burner for colder nights. Loved feeding carrots to the Highland cattle every morning. Exceptional value for money. Good location to visit Tarra-Bulga and 90 mile beach. Nothing

- Jan (10/5): - Wspaniałe, cudowne miejsce, Odnowiony domek, pełna wygoda, piękna okolica, cisza, spokój. Nic, tylko wrócić na dłużej.
- Ying (10/5): Cosy peaceful farm life - Best cottage ever, much beyond the expectation! A cosy quiet farm stay with hand feeding gorgeous highland cows and sheep, even a few goats around(one of them is so smart and comes to me when she sees me after she learned I will give her food)! A true gem in Gippsland for anyone seeking a peaceful escape from crowded urban life. Felicia and Steve are so kind and welcoming, their hard working turns an ordinary farm into a real charm! Cottage is equipped with much more than you can think of for a one or two days stay and appreciate the taste of interior! Would highly recommend! Cannot wait to stay there again! An indoor bug zapper might help on fighting with the mosquitoes(which maybe the fun and essential part of farm life)? 😊
- Alicia (10/5): Tranquil & Divine 🙏🥰 - The natural surroundings are stunning. The peace and tranquillity took my breath away.
The highland cows are a show stopper, greeting you as you pull in. So friendly, happy to be fed carrots if you choose to do so and love a pat.
The facilities provided showed thoughtfulness, purpose and an eye for detail. There are so many extra comforts provided to make your stay more comfortable, if you choose to use them.
Felicity was a lovely host, meeting me as I arrived, and happy to chat which was lovely.
Felicity was available if I needed anything during my stay.
I was thrilled with my two nights stay, I HIGHLY recommend to anyone wanting to rest and reset, get away from the noise. Nothing, I LOVED it all!! :-)
- Jack (9/5): Superb -
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - A Perfect Rural Escape at Tara by the Tides.
Our stay at Tara by the Tides was absolutely wonderful. This beautifully renovated cottage is a true gem-peaceful, charming, and surrounded by nature. If you’re looking to unwind and get away from it all, this is the place.
The cottage itself is stunning, blending classic character with thoughtful modern updates. It’s spotlessly clean, cozy, and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The bed and couch are super comfortable, the kitchen is well-stocked, and the bathroom features a luxurious bath with a view and a fantastic walk-in shower.
Our hosts have truly thought of everything. From soft drinks, fresh eggs, and milk, Tim Tams in the fridge to cereals and breakfast essentials, every detail made us feel welcome. There was even a big bag of carrots just for feeding the cows!
And what a highlight the animals are! The friendly Highland cattle, along with goats, sheep, and chickens, added so much charm to our stay. Waking up to them outside our door was pure joy.
Despite feeling like a peaceful retreat, the cottage is only a short drive to beautiful Port Albert, and Yarram is just 15 minutes away for any essentials.
We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and can’t wait to return. I highly recommend Tara by the Tides.
- Chaya (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay at Tarra by the Tides was absolutely wonderful. From waking up to cows and chickens outside the door, to cozy evenings in the beautifully renovated cottage, everything was perfect. The cottage was super clean, cozy, and fully equipped, surrounded by nature and stunning views. We would definitely love to return to this beautiful place!
- O'neill (10/5): Cozy farm stay with everything you need for the perfect weekend. - Perfect getaway for animal lovers! The cows are so friendly and quirky. The cottage is stunningly updated with classic charm. Felicity has thought of everything too! So many small touches that made for the most perfect stay. Nothing, it was lovely!
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vivienne (10/5): incredible location, so serene, and so many amenities!! hoping to come back soon - incredible location, so serene, and so many amenities!!
- Robert (10/5): Tarra by the Tides was a restful stay in a fabulous cottage. - I had high expectations after looking at Tarra by the Tides on booking.com. They were exceeded. The pretty cottage maintained its historic character whilst its fittings were state of the art. The large bathroom was fabulous, the kitchen was functional, well equipped and well stocked, the bed comfortable. A highlight was being able to hand feed the Highland cattle. Whilst we knew the owner was on site if we needed her help, we appreciated the privacy afforded us and had our own driveway parking spot. Whilst the roads into the cottage were unsealed (Old Mann's Beach Road and Neils Road) they were well formed and smooth and no problem for our little Mazda 2. Driving to and from the cottage around dawn or dusk needed extra care to avoid the echidnas and kangaroos we encountered, but it was great seeing them. Anyone wanting to wet a line from the bank had the Tarra River, Mann's Beach jetty and Rutter's Jetty in Port Albert all within 15 minutes or so.
- Debra (9/5): A fabulous farmstay - The location is quiet. The farm animals were a joy. The onsite owners are friendly.
The kitchen is fully equipped, and the renovated walk-in shower is great. There are no fly screens on the doors, so to leave them open to let in some fresh air, lets in flies and other insects.
- Kellie (10/5): Magical Cottage with Highland Cattle - wonderful weekend escape - Beautiful place with exceptional hosts. This is a truly special cottage where you can get away from it all and just unwind while meeting some very friendly locals. There are goats, sheep, a magpie and a breathtaking herd of Highland cattle that are very keen to chat if you bring carrots. The cottage has been recently renovated and is absolutely gorgeous. Everything you need is there - the bathroom has a big bath (leave the blind up for a private paddock view) and separate shower. Very comfy bed and couch, plus a well equipped kitchen. Bring whatever you need for meals so that you don't have to leave. Our lovely hosts left milk and fresh eggs in the fridge, plus cereals and even some Tim Tams. We really really really enjoyed our stay here - the hosts have done a brilliant job - we could have easily stayed longer. It's perfection - no improvements needed. I just wish I'd realised how friendly the animals were - I would have brought more snacks with me :)
- Anna (10/5): I loved the serenity, charm and comfort of this cottage. - Tarra by the Tides has been beautifully renovated, and very thoughtfully equipped and furnished. The hosts were great - very generous and helpful.
- Ryan (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Bri (10/5): Perfect getaway - The little cottage is immaculate, with a beautiful bath and views of the cows.
- Nick (9/5): Cute historic cottage tastefully renovated into private and comfortable modern studio with all the mod cons - Historic cottage well renovated into welcoming and tastefully country styled modern studio accommodation. Comfortable bed, fantastic bathroom and well appointed open living/kitchen area - including full size fridge, dishwasher, pot belly fireplace and air con. Friendly host had thoughtfully provided some food and drink options - including carrots to hand feed Highland cattle over back balcony fence. Cottage is privately set away from host’s house and shed. Short drive to Yarram for supermarket, cafes, shops and good pub. And nearby Woodside has nicer pub and great lifesaver patrolled white sand beach - other local “beaches” are mangrove inlets lacking sand. 1.5 hr drive to stunning Squeaky & Norman Beaches on Wilson’s Prom. We loved our stay here, including the push button auto gate opener and would happily return again to explore more of south Gippsland! Loved it - so nothing to complain about!
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was so well equipped and every little thing had been thought of. There was so many thoughtful touches which made our stay special. The highland cows and farm animals were such a highlight, and a beautiful sunrise in the mornings! Felicia and Steve were so kind and helpful and were available if we needed. Couldn’t recommend more and can’t wait to visit again ☺️
