Guest Reviews
- Tom and Kim (7/5): Convenient place to stay, close to amenities, plenty of room in the house. - The location was good. Close to coffee, town centre. Walking distance to most things. Nice to be around where the locals and eat locally. Historic building, surrounded by some lovely architecture in surrounding streets, the house has lots of character, not comforting. Plenty of room to place your luggage and to move around in different spaces. Upstairs bed very comfortable. After contacting the owner we learnt how to work the heating and it felt much better once the place was warm. The information as to where to eat locally and enter the house was well described. Lots of green in the garden. Great laundry facilities. Difficult parking at the back. Front of property parking only over night. The owner said there had been recently break ins in the area and to double check locking doors. This did make us feel uncomfortable about staying in the house at night time. If there was a king bed downstairs, we would have slept there as stairs are very steep and slippery. The lounge chairs were not comfortable while watching tv in the evening. The wifi was constantly dropping out in that area, so watching Netflix was difficult. No blinds on living room windows at the back of the house. Plenty of bathrooms but lack comfort. Quite noisy close to main road.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Excellent in all respects. Loved that there was coffee left for us. The house is so well appointed. Host was very communicative and left great recommendations. Would love to stay again. A 11 out of 10!
- Alban (8/5): - Location not enough bins in toilets/rooms
- Megan (10/5): Upset we couldn’t stay longer!! - Stunning property!! Very spacious.
Super Private and quiet.
Super comfy
Everything you need.
Host organised a delicious welcome cheese platter and breakfast platter
Exceeded expectations!! N/A
- Cushla (10/5): Stunning home with superior fixtures and fittings. - We loved everything. Homeware very stylish and comfortable.
Quality sheets, towels, cutlery and plates .
Lovely kitchen and bathrooms.
Great location as Coles literally 3 min. walk away. We loved everything.
- catherine (10/5): Very comfortable and close to city - Everything Maybe couple of outdoor chairs and table would have been nice
- Patti (10/5): Our stay was lovely and our host was most accommodating. - The decor, the large spaces of the house, off street parking for a smallish vehicle, proximity of grocery stores and restaurants. The stair case, however there is a very beautiful bedroom downstairs.
- Cate (9/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Beautifully appointed in a great location - Beautiful decor and the quality of the linen was beautiful.
- Robert (10/5): Great house with all the right amenities in a very convenient location in Launceston. - The quality of the fit out of the house; the pantry that was well-stocked; the location near to Launceston centre; the ambience of the house and garden. While it was near to busy streets and thus road noise was easily heard, it wasn’t a big issue at all for us but was for light sleepers (our friends).

- Sara (10/5): Peaceful - Great location. Quite area. Such a beautiful home with lots of character and charm. Beautiful kitchen with a lovely coffee machine. I enjoyed reading a book in the sunroom looking out the window with all the trees.
- Anita (5/5): Disappointing stay in beautifully presented historic home - Beautifully presented historic home within walking distance of Launceston CBD - great coffee and a Coles supermarket are just around the corner which was a bonus. Beds were comfortable and we had some lovely treats waiting for us on arrival. Many issues throughout our three days stay that made for quite an uncomfortable experience. Our main issues had to do with the heating or lack thereof - we absolutely froze in the house as the heating did not seem to be working/was not warm enough and could not be modulated by turning the dials on the panel heaters - the only bit of warm floor was in the downstairs bathroom. The WI-FI signal was appalling/non-existent and as we were driving a large SUV the parking situation was extremely tedious. Other issues included difficulty finding light switches, an awkwardly uncomfortable dining room table, dirty appliances (clothes dryer filled with lint and another guests forgotten items) as well as a lack of basic amenities (e.g. no tissues, ran out of body wash in 1 bathroom, not enough tea towels and garbage bags for the length of our stay plus an errant recycling bin). Our time at this property was planned as an opportunity for us to rest, relax and re-charge our batteries as part of a larger trip and it was very difficult to do so given all the issues mentioned - sadly, we were actually pleased to leave by the end of our stay.
- robyn (10/5): Wonderful - Proximity and warm Not enough toilet paper
- Kirsty (10/5): Historic and comfortable home - Henry's on Balfour is a charming and nicely renovated house in a convenient location close to the centre of Launceston. The check-in process was easy and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need. Annabelle is a thoughtful and responsive host, thank-you!
- Donna (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (8/5): Very good - Location fantastic
Bedrooms and bathrooms were absolutely beautiful . Living room comfortable The dining/kitchen chairs were totally uncomfortable. Small, sqeaky, and we felt that they might break or collapse at any moment. Everything else was wonderful 6th
- Sean (10/5): Beautiful Stylish Home - Perfectly comfortable property Location, size and price
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Henry’s is absolutely beautiful
- Daniel (10/5): Excellent property we will be staying again when in Launceston AAA+++ - Annabelle the property owner was fabulous, organised grazing boxes that are a must to sample the local produce.
- Dimity (9/5): Superb -
- Vincent (9/5): Good for family and friends - This property is wonderfully restored with a modern touch. It is not too hard to find the key in the lock box. Nice to be able to park my car at the back garden, though it requires some skills to park a large 8-seater. A good option for family or friends gathering. There are some wear and tear, such as wobbly wooden chairs in the kitchen/dining area and weather sealing strip coming out of door frame. The glass door to the back garden needs a door stop, as It was blown shut by gust of wind.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Tammy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nita (10/5): Beautifully vintage, exuding luxury and comfort, in a fantastic location! - We loved the decor, overall aesthetics, and roominess of the house. We appreciated all the facilities and thoughtful amenities provided. The kitchen had all necessities, and it was so helpful to have a washer/dryer, iron, heated towel rack, coffee machine, etc.The location made it so easy to walk to the mall and Coles / Woolies. It was such a comfort and pleasure to stay in. The property was a little hard to find in the dark at night. It would have been helpful if the house number 100 was illuminated, or if it was also numbered on the front gate so it would be more easily identifiable. It was also a bit difficult to find the lockbox in the dark to retrieve the key.
- Vicki (9/5): We loved our stay at Harry's on Balfour and would definitely stay there again. - The house is beautiful and well stocked. The bottle of wine in the fridge was a lovely surprise. It was a hot day and there were no fans / airconditioning. An outdoor table and chairs would have been nice.
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional - We loved it all , 3 bathrooms were such a spoil . Lovely linen and decor . A beautiful slice of history. Great accessories in the kitchen . Beautiful pottery and touches . The dining room sqeaky chairs were uncomfortable . More then 2 TTowels
would have been handy and more then 2 toilets rolls in each bathroom . We bought more .
- Joanna (9/5): Treat yourself to a stay at Henry's on Balfour, it has everything you could want. - Beautiful interiors, linens, fresh, comfortable, fabulous location (walked to Gorge, plenty of great food and drinking options around the corner), staples provided in house, helpful notes about the area, gorgeous courtyard and garden. A perfect example of Tasmanian charm.
- Reynolds (9/5): Very comfortable, clean and tidy - The location was good we walked for dinner most nights. 3 bathrooms was good since there was as 3 couples. Very quirky house, with everything we needed.
- Anne (10/5): Too short! - Stunningly appointed
Comfort
Location central Squeaky dining chairs were a little unsettling for the larger peeps in the group 😌
- Kun (7/5): Old house in old town - As a family hostel with basic living facilities, the location is easy to find. In winter, the room is very cold and the heating is not enough. Hygiene needs further cleaning.
- Antoinette (10/5): What a stunning and historic house which is both luxe yet inviting. We relished every moment ! -
- Emma (10/5): Beautiful. - Beautiful home. Excellent location
- John (9/5): Great! - Excellent pantry items
Excellent location Could have more cutlery
- Deborah (10/5): A brilliant base for friends to explore Launceston from. - The house is beautiful, light filled and spacious. The beds were super comfortable and linen and bath products were all high quality. The location was excellent. Nothing
- Sofia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (9/5): Superb -
- Juli (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing... great spot for morning walks around the lovely old streets. Generous inclusions made for a truly - The styling! The attention to detail such as my favorite teas, feather pillows and quality linens. The back sunroom needs a coffee table; we found ourselves sitting on the floor to share a charcuterie board in front of the cricket on tv. But it is a gorgeous polished concrete (heated) floor!
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional - immaculately presented, a wonderfully designed cottage
- Karen (10/5): Well designed house - Design there were no bins in the room
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - beautiful home with everything you need.
- Robin (10/5): A beautifully presented and welcoming character home - The property is beautifully renovated and presented with loads of character and plenty of amenities/comforts. Whilst we were only there for one night it provided us with a unique experience in a great part of Launceston. Good restaurants and cafes nearby. We plan to visit again for a longer stay. Nothing. We should have booked for longer.
- Anne (10/5): Luxury - The property is exquisitely decorated. It feels like you have stepped into the pages of a magazine. The towels are huge and thick (and warm if you put them on the heated towel rack for a few minutes). The bed is like falling into a pillow with luxurious linens which keep you so cozy. The kitchen is divine to cook in. The laundry has a new washing machine and dryer. The floors are heated in the cooler mornings. There is a lemon tree out the back and a peonie bush at the front. This is a really beautiful property and the owner is very attentive and helpful.
