Guest Reviews
- Deborah (10/5): - I felt like I was staying at the cottage of a relative. Very homey and comforting decor. The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept very well.
- Peter (10/5): It was a very accommodating and comfortable stay, and I would stay here again and again ! - Tel A Friend is like going to a theme park, "The Old West".
Loved the cotton linen and the super comfy bed.
The suite actually has it's own natural gas heater, which made my room nice and warm :)
- Guest (9/5): - The location was very handy and central to the places that I needed to be. Doreen was very lovely to work with, and accommodating of my late arrival. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud!! Very, very clean!
- Suher (8/5): -
- Ariana (9/5): Great place to stay for a trip! - Great location, easy access to Vernon and Kelowna, beaches are close by. Great for short trips where you need to sleep and shower, very unique property, has a lot of cowboy charm - loved it! You can’t open the windows and can only use AC which is a bit loud. It was not bad but I am used to having fresh air and sleeping with an open window so that was so so but we survived. But for the price nothing can beat it.
- Lorne (5/5): I wasn’t expecting a lavish motel so it was fine - No breakfast
Location was fine I was looking for a cheap motel it was that
It’s an older building but was clean
Check in was limited to 4-7 pm witch I found a little weird
- Buechler (10/5): -
- Claudia (8/5): -
- Stanley (10/5): -
- Sexauer (9/5): Excellent, the hostess was kind and helpful. -
- Joelle (8/5): Overall good stay. - Cute little suite with the feel of home rather than a motel. Very noisy traffic due to being near main highway.
Wifi didn’t work well.
- Gary (9/5): Host was amazing bed was very comfortable - It’s rustic reminds of growing up on the farm The busy road it’s on makes it hard to pull out into a busy intersection
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stacia (10/5): Old timey comforts & great value - Quaint, nice little motel with all the comforts that you could ask for. Everything in our room including the decor was thoughtfully designed and placed. Loved the aesthetics! Nothing, the property was great.
- Peter (10/5): Tell a friend Motel is one of a kind. - The Tell a friend Motel is the better choice of smaller motels in Vernon. Offering a safe residential location. The motel has a drive-thru parking lot and plenty of parking. Clean, comfortable and cozy. I wish I could have stayed longer.
- Peter (10/5): For a travelling business sales person the value is excellent. - I loved the Tell a Friend inside and out. The owners put a lot of love into their Motel. I feel very comfortable and rejuvenated , after my stay. The beds have good linen and are comfortable to sleep on. The space outside is huge with plenty of parking. nothing.
- Dena (8/5): It was good. - It was big and clean. pleasant atmoshere. T.V. not enough channels.
- Aucoin (9/5): Very comfortable place, Kekuli Bay Provincial Park a Gem nearby! - A unique place to stay. The suite we had was retro furnished, lots of fun. Very comfortable and very good pricing for a suite with cooking facilities, and all the amenities. Outstanding value.
This is not your run-of-the-mill chain motel. Doreen, the owner operator who we dealt with was a wonderful person. Very welcoming! It was perfect for us.
- Catriona (6/5): Pleasant - Location and kitchenette Did not like that someone went into my room without my consent to tidy up. The space was not in need of cleaning, and I felt like it was an invasion of privacy. There needs to be door hangers when room service is not required.
- Ian (10/5): A great little place!! - Fun nostalgic place at great value. Great staff. A little hard to enter and exit off busy highway
- Derek (8/5): Very good -
- William (8/5): Nice , comfy old style motel. Owners were great. - Convenient location
- Claude (8/5): Very good -
- Skrobot (9/5): great - Vintage feel and Proprietor had all these little things in the kitchen / bathroom to make it feel like home
- Janet (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, good value, coffee & tea and shampoo etc provided Bit of a musky smell but very clean. Dangerous pull out onto road due to bushes obstructing view
- Peter (10/5): Loved it, Loved it, Loved it!! "Tel a friend about the Tel A Friend Motel" - I love the location on the very edge of downtown Vernon, just a three block walk to downtown.
The suite was a one bedroom fully stocked kitchen with a vintage frigidare 1950's fridge that works beautifully,
What a lovely flashback experience for all of us boomers!,
My room was equipped with a large gas furnace that could heat up in just minutes and the bed was very cozy and comfortable.
I Loved my stay with the Tel A Friend Motel!! :) What's not to like here ?
- Todd (9/5): Superb - Great quirky property reminded me of the motor inn's I stay at as a child. Great staff
- Velvet (8/5): Excellent value. Clean and quaint feel. - Very good value. Nice to have a home type feel. A bit of road noise.
- Taras_p (10/5): Exceptional - was very welcoming and caring host
- Haacke (10/5): An old classic - It was very clean for an old style motel. I felt like I stepped into my grandmother's old farmhouse, which had a comforting feel for me. It was comfortable and had everything you could possibly need, and then some. I would definitely stay there again. Trying to exit the property into the flow of traffic was very dangerous. The shrubs on both driveways blocked your view and made it impossible to see the very fast-moving oncoming traffic that you had to merge into
- J. (9/5): Stay at the Tel-A-Friend Motel if you want a quiet, clean, affordable place to stay. - Somewhat reminiscent of '50's or the '60's - comfortably furnished - everything a person would need, a great little place to stay. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable bed and pillows, portable a/c unit, a full kitchenette, good wi-fi signal- I would definitely stay there again. The hostess, Dolores was welcoming and friendly... I will certainly tel-a-friend about this little gem - thanks Dolores for a comfortable stay... hope to see you again. Nothing to report - everything was perfect.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Cool, niche hotel. I didn't know what to expect and got so much more than I thought. Very rustic and quirky. Quiet, clean, comfy. Also, if you travel with an nes like some of us, the tv's will accommodate duck hunt!
- Inna (9/5): Charming motel, clean with everything we needed - Very charming non chain motel. We had all we needed, 1 bedroom suite with a kitchenette. Clean and comfortable. The owner was helpful and accommodating. Nothing
- Steve (7/5): It was very comfortable - What Breakfast? The room was clean and very acceptable and we would recommend it to anyone. The bed was too soft for my liking, but my wife enjoyed it.
- Claudin (9/5): Superb -
- Arie (4/5): A little disappointing. - The location was nice, close to the beach and downtown. Small old room with sagging beds, old rusty refrigirator and small windows. Next time we will book a newer place.
- Bushman (7/5): Good -
- Laara (10/5): Literally a Home Away from Home but Sunnier! - Tel-a-Friend is a great little.Vernon hideaway. The owners are very accommodating and really pay attention to detail yet give patrons their space. Great balance and not easy.
I felt like I was at my own summer cabin but with exceptional service. It's quiet (despite location just off Hwy 97), amazing space, great beds, plenty of very hot water, efficient air conditioning PLUS all the household items you would ever need (though I still used my own) to help keep price affordable which it was. Parking directly outside my unit and easy access to everything downtown, beaches, bike trails, quiet neighborhood. Good walk score going downtown, but great exercise on return. The owners truly earn the greatest compliments for consistently providing comfortable lodging at an affordable price.Thank you, Doreen and Dolores, it was way more than I could have expected.
Side bar. I did not see any other units, and I am a solo traveller, but I had a comfy queen bed in separate quiet back room that stayed cool even at 39 degrees and a twin in the outer room. Larger families inquire, please, plus not designed around small children's playground needs. What's there not to like after all that? Definitely would go back.
