• James (9/5): Nice area; the local folks around the hotel are nice people. - Location is on the tourist pedestrian street and the entrance does not appear to be a hotel but it actually is located in the back. It is hard to get a taxi from the hotel. You must walk a long distance to the main road.

• veronique (10/5): Amazing - The hotel is situated right in the old street of Tunxi. It lays behind a sweet shop and that protected us from the noise of the street. The hotel is exquisite and comfortable. I loved everything.
• Annika (10/5): Excellent Hotel - Location is great, directly at the old street. Clean and modern hotel for a great price. In previous reviews it was mentioned that only disposable towels are provided but now it's cotton towels, which I liked. Will stay here again if I come to huangshan again.

A famous location. Great in the early evening. Rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. The manager was helpful with good English. I especially appreciated that she took the initiative to return my glasses when I ( idiotically) left them there. It was a little hard to find initially, as it does not have an obvious facade. We had a taxi driver! At the entry is a tea shop, selling a big range of local teas. You go through the tea shop to enter. But, then, this became part of the local charm.

The paper hand & bath towels were not very good at drying you off after the shower, other than that the room was very nice.

• Benjamin (9/5): A wonderful stay that feels like a Bed and Breakfast in an old Gulangyu house - It was wonderful to stay in an old house on Gulangyu. I especially enjoyed the breakfasts--simple, delicious, and served in a wonderfully cozy room full of plants and small animals. The small staff has a nice human touch. Great all around! I also liked that the windows were operable, and that there were several outdoor patios to enjoy the balmy weather.
• Annie (10/5): Value for money - Room was spacious and clean. We love the room top garden and the location was just along the old street shopping. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended! Mosquitos were present and I got bitten several times but the staff was quick to give us mosquito repellent and that solved the problem.
• Marie-charlotte (6/5): Not a Hostel International anymore - Confortable beds and the location is amazing 🤩 This is not a Hostel International anymore. So the atmosphere is really different from what you could expect from that kind of place. It has been bought by a private owner and has a different name. Some of the staff don’t speak English and they smoke cigarettes at the reception desk. I have been to the hostel many times in the past and it’s really different now. Please update the name and infos on Booking!
• Louise (9/5): very welcoming - Extremely helpful owner who was easy to contact and helped answer all of our questions. The facilities were great and included a beautiful balcony area with lots of cool plants and a nice bar area with a pool table. The surrounding streets were very pretty too.
• Andreas (2/5): Very poor - Nothing Hotel doesn't exist anymore under the name Old Street Youth Hostel. Place is also completely run down. Even toilet in room was not working.

• Amanda (7/5): Kind of run down, but perfect location, comfortable rooms, and many places to hangout inside. - The location and size of the rooms were perfect. There were multiple spaces for hanging out with friends and meeting new people. The owners also spoke proficient English and were helpful. It is clear that the hostel has not been at peak function in a long time. The bar area is dusty and completely unusable. However, it is understandable due to COVID-19's toll.
