- Елена (10/5): - If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway far from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place for you."
It’s a small cottage, but it has all the essentials for a vacation.
We had a lovely time.
Clean and cozy cottage.
Mel was a lovely host.
- Camilla (10/5): Cute, romantic, farm animals and amazing view and stunning tiny house - Our little farmstay totally lived up to our expectations! We loved the sheep and goats just outside our door, especially at sunrise! The house is modern, cute decor and very clean and there are so many details and thoughts put into everything! Would definetely recommend anyone booking this magical little place - with the most breathtaking view and fresh air! We liked everything :)
We knew it was a tiny house but the space was very little - would recommend a smaller dining table solution maybe? (Just a friendly suggestion) Also there were a lot of information and long practical messages before arrival and just after arriving, reminding us of all the things we should do during and after our stay - which we understand and did, but it felt a bit like choirs and duties and many things to remember on our short little farmstay/holiday.
- Lilian (9/5): We really enjoyed our stay and there were some really nice touches provided by the hosts. - Locations is great - there are other homes close by but you are not looking at them - just the great view.
- Jodine (10/5): - Such a quiet location, just the birds and animals for company. But close to food options as well. Nothing :-) you do need to know the king bed has minimal room around it though
- Will (8/5): Very relaxing, clean and quiet. - For a tiny house the layout is fantastic. Being able to make complimentary pancakes was also a nice touch. The whole place was spotless and felt homely.
Feeding the goats and sheep was a highlight. We love a king size bed but feel it's perhaps too large for the space and makes moving around the bedroom awkward. Feels cramped. A queen would suffice.
- Paul (9/5): Great country escape. - Host was super responsive and helpful. Amazing welcome package with snacks.
Optional extras are great, shows they really think about you and your experience in the region.
Tranquil scenery.

- Kahbil (10/5): - We originally stayed one night but loved the calm vibe so much we extended another day!
Such a peaceful farm stay experience — feeding the chickens, sheep, alpacas and adorable Babydoll sheep was a real highlight. The cottage was cosy, clean and very comfortable.
Highly recommended for anyone wanting a relaxing country escape. We’ll definitely be back! -
- Zac (10/5): - I took my partner on a over night stay for valentines day and wow was it an amazing place! Mel put in so much effort to attend all of our needs by setting up the perfect valentines. She went above and beyond my expectations and allowing us to hang with the animals and even taking us to her other property to see the alpacas. Was a great experience highly recommend.
- Anna (10/5): Amazing - We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at this place! The surroundings are beautiful, the hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the cottage is amazing — cozy, comfortable, and perfectly equipped. If we ever get the chance, we will definitely come back. These are moments you truly never forget. Highly recommended!
- Joanne (10/5): -
- Cathy (9/5): - Overall it was beautiful. Location was not made clear on advert. Right next to road and houses right near us. We thought it would be private but there were too many buildings nearby. What we'd hoped for was complete isolation in a picturesque location. Everything was great except that.
- Samith (10/5): Everything excellent - Everything
- Peter (10/5): Absolute sanctuary - The property was amazing.
Furnished really well to accommodate pretty much anything.
Must commend Mel and Chelsea, they thought of every single detail ensuring guests have everything they could possibly need.
Their thoughtfulness in providing a face mask for recovery from a long drive to a new pancake machine and with Pancake mix for the morning was very much appreciated.
The surrounds are beautiful along with breathtaking views! And the Pygmy goats, so cute..the brown and white one would race down when he heard us coming!
We had such a lovely stay despite strong winds..highly recommend and will return.
Mel & Chelsea, thank you sharing your home with us.
Peter and Rhea Nothing, it was perfect

- Peter (10/5): Great little country escape. - Stunning views, cosy accommodation and well equiped. None, all good.
- Robyn (9/5): - Design, comfy bed, facilities, sunlight , warmth, pet animals
- Ardid (9/5): The best stay ever! - We enjoyed our stay immensely — the accommodation exceeded our expectations so much that we ended up just staying in and soaking it all up. The babydoll sheep are absolutely adorable, as are all the other animals. The pantry was so well stocked, the house itself is stunning and the views are just beautiful. Above all, Mel and Chelsea have made our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. We can’t wait to come back! Our stay was too short.

- Yair (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice host and a good location
- Dana (10/5): Fantastic break away from the city - My partner and I had an amazing relaxing stay at Gumnut. The weather was sunny in the middle of winter, and the wood fire ensured we stayed nice and warm. We cooked ourselves while there and in the kitchen there was everything you could need (even a slow cooker). There were condiments galore, oils, spreads etc which was very unexpected and useful. The bed was comfy, and the couch was comfy for me (but partner prefers a solid couch). The shower was nice and hot and big enough for 2.
There were so many little things that were unexpected....board games, picnic rugs, books etc that made the place feel like a home. There was a very comprehensive booklet that Mel the host made, which had lots of information on the local area and suggested itineraries and things to do, which was very helpful. We took a drive to Licola and the view was fantastic. The animals were a delight, and waking up to sheep right in front of the bed room window was very cute. The deck was good, enjoyed having cuppas and lunch on it. Would have stayed out reading my book there but while it was sunny, it was winter cold.
We had a fantastic time, a much deserved break from city life. There was only 1 thing and the previous guest took all the lighters for the gas stove/wood heater and left a broken one (and took the emergency spare ones too). Cant fault Mel the host, she was very apologetic and had a great talk to her while that was sorted.
- Aly (10/5): Exceptional - Very cozy, beautiful picturesque location.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional - A warm and cosy country cottage with stunning mountains views as far as the eye can see is worth the magic, with the serenity of peace, murmurs of farm animals and crackling of the fire place only made us envious in ourselves that we didn't stay another night.
Mel left no stone unturned to make our stay warm and comfortable, had a special touch for my birthday, and the morning feed with the friendly farm animals was so much fun! Thank you Mel & Chelsea, we will be back and cannot wait to enjoy another beautiful sunset at the cottage.
- Sandhya (10/5): Exceptional - Gumnut Cottage is a cute serene spot with rolling hill views. We didn't get a chance to use the outdoor firepit due to rain, however the set up is gorgeous. We used the small kitchen on the first night and found everything quite easily. Was beautiful to wake up to the views, quietness and cute animals. Mel the owner communicates well and offers time for you with the animals under her supervision.
- Andres (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): A lovely relaxing, stress free time, completly able to please oursleves, FANTASTIC! - N/A (We did not have food etc. meals included in our package) Everything was very good
- Elise (10/5): Beautiful, modern, cosy! - Mel was lovely and hospitable, the cottage was exceptional with beautiful little touches. There wasn’t a thing that hadn’t been thought of.
- Lucinda (10/5): A quiet, pretty, relaxed place to unwind. - It was a cosy little cottage, with plenty of facilities. But it was the location that I loved the most. Beautiful and quiet, watching the light change, mountains in the distance and the odd pack of parrots. Perfect.
- Veronica (10/5): We had a marvellous getaway to be cherished and kept in our hearts. It is a gem!!! - The property had complete amenities-much more than what you find in 5star hotels! The location of the property provided breathtaking scenery and is picture perfect. The cleanliness and ambiance of the cottage were very enticing and relaxing. Super host extraordinaire Mel gave so much thought in providing much beyond expectations. Nothing we did not like. We loved every minute of our stay!!! The website gave so much information not only about the property but also about nearby towns tourist attractions, food, livelihood etc.
- Sophie (9/5): Superb -
- Nikhil (9/5): Amazing staycation - The house is beautiful and has all the required amenities. Love the fact that breakfast essentials were provided. More farm animals walking around would have been nicer LOL
- Shane (9/5): Superb -
- Hiromi (10/5): A perfect gateway. - This accommodation has next level qualities inside and out. There is a highly designed layout with plenty of wow factor ! The bedroom is small but, king size bed and a couch in the living room are very comfortable. A well organised kitchen that includes many thoughtful ideas. We just loved our stay ! Thank Mel xxx If a mirror could be in the living room or bedroom, it would be better.
- Norhan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! We had the much needed break. Fully refreshed None
- Alannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Surprisingly good value and wonderful attentive host. - Located on a few acres with magnificent views. Quirky with every thing you could think of to make us happy.
A great goat pen, happy hen pen. These buildings were sensational..The outside verandah area was also exceptional. Zero
- Kate (10/5): Peaceful, Private, Perfect - It was a beautiful little retreat. Happy & friendly animals onsite. Private. Peaceful. Perfect. Would definitely recommend the Blue Gables Vineyard for dinner one evening! I loved everything!
- Michelle (10/5): We loved our stay at Gumnut cottage it was very cute and comfortable - It was very comfortable and clean loved the location and the animals Nothing
- Silvia (10/5): Amazing stay :) - The owner is very kind, we were in touch before our arrival and she was very helpful.
The cottage is very nice and cozy. Well equipped. We enjoyed the calm around the cottage!
Such a shame it was a rainy day, but the garden and the terrace looked amazing! And we loved the neighbors (gots, hens and sheeps)
Close enough to a number of villages and activities.
Thank you very much for the little present :) Bed sheet were a bit rough.
- Andrew (10/5): Memorable experience! - Our stay was everything we expected and more. The cottage was beautifully presented, and along with the view, it was very serene. The owner was welcoming and responsive with any questions and recommendations to make sure we were comfortable. We loved having dinner on the deck with a view of the surrounding farmland.
The included breakfast options were a welcomed addition to top it all off. We even got to feed the animals and take some photos with them to remember our stay!
- Clara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (10/5): Beautiful accommodation, great views and a lovely host! - The accommodation was beautiful and very clean, with everything you need for your stay! We really enjoyed having an indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit. The accommodation has great views and is only a short drive to nearby attractions. Mel made the whole experience seamless from the moment we booked and provided lots of information on things to see and do in the local area. We also loved meeting the all the animals on the property! Everything was great! No complaints at all.
- Harisiddhakumar (9/5): Hi Mel thanks for exceptional service we enjoyed our short stay a lot… nice warm welcoming atmosphere made Harsiddh’s b - Everything Nothing everything very well
- Lyndsey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Warm and cosy cabin out of the way, with wonderful views - Wonderful views. Secluded location. Modern cabin. Warm and cosy. Sheep to make friends with. The cabin was quite full of stuff, pillows, knock knacks, etc. Left little room for bags and moving around was a bit restricted.
