Guest Reviews
- B (2/5): Don't pay for this place until they fully renovate it and improve their cleanliness standards. - Easy key pickup. Having access to a washing machine was nice. Pearl was polite and she organized a mattress and pillow protectors to be dropped off when I noticed they didn't even bother to have them included as a default. Beyond other tenants closing their doors, you don't hear any other noise from them. -The place is pretty gross. As other guests have highlighted (perhaps too politely), the carpet is brutal. It feels like a couple dead bodies were found and some dirty rugs were used to cover up 30% of the stains. MaisonNets is lucky I don't have the option to upload the photos I took.
-The kitchen table was dirty and sticky. Food smears on the handle of the fridge and some drippings of something on some of the utensils. Cigarettes from a previous guest were left in the cupboard.
-The windows are old, single-paned, and the handles have never been wiped clean. It's a theme of the apartment really. If you walked into the bathroom, you can see faint splatters of something along the walls. The corner by the toilet smells vaguely of body odor. Pearl said that a new cleaner was used since the usual one was on leave. MaisonNets website says they, "will check on your place after each clean to make sure the cleaning job is complete and meets our high hotel industry standards." MaisonNets is failing at this. If you google their website, you'll get the vibe that they're just another company who possibly offshores some of the concierge staff and coordinates with 3rd party cleaners/contractors. If 100% of their concierge staff is actually in Melbourne and checking in on the units they supposedly vet, it's craaaaazy they checked in on this property and felt it was up to snuff. I've been traveling internationally over the last year and this is the first place that just had a thin sheet on top of a raw mattress (which looked like it was sitting around since the 70s, you can feel the springs). You can't say you maintain high hotel industry standards when you're letting guests sleep on surfaces like that. It's just not hygienic.
-Ongoing construction 1 house away and it'll likely continue for many more months. Even if the cost was $20 USD/night, I wouldn't stay here again.
- Eda (8/5): Otherwise perfect - Clean & location I’m 70 & my husband 75 didn’t realise the apartment was on the 3rd floor & 45 steps
- Kelli (8/5): Neat little apartment in a convenient location to the hospital. - Location was very convenient for where we needed to be. Apartment was basic but comfortable. The stairs - no handrail on both sides of the stairs. I can only use my right arm and going up there was nothing to hang on to.
- Werner (7/5): Great location, unit needs some improvement. - The loaction although out of the City Centre is easy accessible by Tram. Tram Station just 100m away from the premisses. The carpets need to be replaced as they look "thirty" but they aren't. Some of the kitchen cabinets need a refix. The faucet in the shower are due to receive new seals as it's hard to stop the water from dripping.
- Evit (9/5): A cozy subburban expirience - Very quiet, cozy flat right next to Chapel St. Right next to a tram stop that can take you to the CBD. A bunch of great cafes nearby. But at the same time great external noise cancellation, very quite, nice neighbourhood. Just an overall wonderful place to stay. Me and my partner stayed for 3 weeks and had everything we needed. It also did not feel like a rental at all, we felt at home and very independent - that's always nice on a long stay. It's on the top floor with no elevator (can be hard to carry all of your stuff up, if you have a lot of stuff). The shower head kept dripping loudly after you use the shower. Also the door between the living room and the bedroom was hollow, so you can't have a call in one room without it being heard in the other room (was inconvenient for us because we worked remotely with different time zones). But all of that feels insignificant compared with the pros of this flat.
