• Jacob (10/5): Good vibes - One of the best hostels I’ve been to! Super homey feeling, it’s very clean, in-room air conditioning AND MOST IMPORTANTLY the owners are so nice and social! Chelsea treated me and the other guests like long time friends and regularly invited us to fun local events/set up hostel events for us to enjoy. This place attracts the best kind of travelers and it’s obvious the owners put a lot of work into creating such a restful space. Super good value in terms of room price as well as board rentals/lessons. Will be coming back :) I wish I could stay longer (I did extend my stay a couple days)
• Ella (10/5): Super comfortable stay, lovely hosts, great vibe - I had the best stay at El Cafecito. Chelsea and Lenin are amazing hosts and such lovely people. On the first night we were welcomed with a BBQ! The social vibe is perfect and chill. I spent a lot of time chatting and hanging out with other guests in the house, going surfing together etc., I met some really cool people. I had a lot of fun renting a surfboard from the hostel and taking it down to the beach, and also using the surfskate! After months of travel, staying at El Cafecito felt like such a treat because of how comfortable it was - comfy beds, good air con, really nice, clean kitchen for cooking and a homey vibe Nothing!

• luisa (1/5): DONT STAY HERE , IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE TOLD OFF CONSTANTLY - The place is nice and close to the beach ... but... DO NOT STAY HERE, THE PLACE LOOKS NICE ....BUT The lady owner is a control Freak, she is constantly behind you telling you off. I left the hostel cos I didn't pay to live with my mum. She is RUDE and made me feel uncomfortable 😔 😕 I spoke Spanish she replied to me in English. Too many rules that ruins the peace of the hostel! - you can store the luggage after check out for 2 h ... - You can t use the yoga space to stretch when there s no classes ( one of the reason y i booked) - you have to shower outside before coming in - you can't close the door of the dorm in the afternoon if you are by yoursel otherwise it smells - you can't have a guest walking with u in the kitchen - breakfast is a banana and 2 piece of bread in a shower cup - at breakfast there s just coffee if you want tea you will have to boil the water in the kitchen at the back... don't understand why they can't do a Thermos with hot water in the kitchen at reception where the breakfast is.... and when I asked her she was really rude answering - there s no hot water - you constantly feel like someone is looking at what you are doing ! Surely she doesn't mean bad but don't stay here if you don't want to be constantly controlled and be told off.

• Meike (10/5): Beste verblijf in Santa Teresa - Het is een kleiner hostel dan je zou denken bij hostels en dat is echt top. Het is een huis wat verbouwd is naar een hostel, het heeft dus ook echt dat gezellige sfeer van een huis. Verder zijn Chels en Lannin super lieve mensen die je gelijk welkom laten voelen. We hebben al snel het verblijf verlengd naar meer nachten, en dat doen heel veel mensen hier! De locatie is ook top! Je loopt zo de straat over en je bent op het strand. Das Zimmer war sauber, gut ausgestattet und genau wie beschrieben. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich die freundlichen Gastgeber – sehr hilfsbereit und immer erreichbar, wenn man etwas braucht. Man fühlt sich direkt willkommen.

Es ist sauber und die Küche ist absolut top ausgestattet! Das Haus ist liebevoll gestaltet und eingerichtet. Chelsea und Lenin sind super lieb und hilfsbereit in allem! • Viktor (10/5): Best vacation ever! - Everything was really nice!! The area was wonderful, the beach was wonderful and the host was just amazing in every way. Lenin, our surf instructor was also amazing, I had never surfed before and with only three lessons I came a really long way, to actually being able to know all the basics and being able to surf! We rented an ATV for a day as well and it was a blast. We drove to a place nearby called Montezuma, and it was a really wonderful waterfall and hike to the top of the mountain. I recommend this hostel to everyone who travels to Costa Rica, it was truly something that felt like a once in a lifetime experience!!

• Dominic (10/5): A fun, sociable, comfortable, home environment that is centred in the heart of Santa Teresa. - The hosts of the property, Chelsea and Lenin, are a beautiful and fun couple who have created a great place in the heart of Santa Teresa. These guys organise fun activities, excursions and daily surf trips for anyone who is interested, of which they both often take part in. Cafecito is a very sociable and friendly environment which makes you feel like your just at home! The property itself is very clean, well-organised and very comfortable. I initially booked 4-nights at this guesthouse and extended it to 8 nights in total, they have numerous people who come here initially and end up up extending their stay. Many others I met had also returned to Cafecito from previous trips to Costa Rica, this is all because people love the property and the environment which has been created. This place is also perfect if your a keen surfer and want to improve your skills, with Lenin being a highly skilled surf Instructor. I highly recommend Cafecito to anyone who is interested, it is a 10/10 review for me. Thank you Chelsea and Lenin! Nothing
• Richard (10/5): 100% recommend - The location is great. It’s very central to Playa Carmine, Banana Beach and there are great restaurants and nightclubs within 5 minutes of walking. But the best thing about it is the people. The hosts are awesome people. They treat you like family. They create an atmosphere where all the guests are relaxed and having fun and it makes for an amazing experience. I loved everything about it

I had a wonderful time there, made new friends, watched beautiful sunset, went to partys and just felt very welcomed. The rooms have a max capacity of for 4 people, which ist great, so it is not overcroweded. Thank you for you for so many beautiful memories! ❤️ If I ever come back to Costa Rica, I would definetly stay at Cafecito again! It was my first stay at a hostel and you guys just made it wonderful! Chelsea and Lenin are awesome hosts—so friendly and always there to help out, making it feel like home. The best part is for sure the hosts Lenin and Chelsea with their good vibes and great attitude. Lenin is also one of the best surf instructors in town, so big recommendations if you are interested in learning to surf or want to improve 🔥 Going home 😢
• Dalia (10/5): A Holiday stay to always be remembered because of the wonderful hospitality. - The hosts Chelsea and Lenin were amazing. Some things about Costa Rica are hard like figuring out phone service or sending packages and they helped me with those things. Lenin’s mother came one night and made us a home cooked Costa Rican dinner, so yummy. They took us one doy out on an adventure on the ATV’s over the beach and threw the woods to a jungle bar. This is a cute little bungalow just steps from the beach which was well built and is well kept. There is a gate so it is secure. I don’t serf but I overheard Lenin teaching his students and he is an awesome teacher. Santa Teresa has the best sunsets! The Santa Teresa beach is beautiful with nice coves and I hear the waves are excellent. It is a walkable town with grocery stores and nice restaurants either way you turn on the main street. Santa Teresa doesn’t have a post office. The bank at the end of the street is a rip off. Turn right and use the one that comes up next on the left before Rancho Itauna.

I will definitely be back some day! I can also really recommend Lenin as a surf instructor! He reads his students perfectly and you feel super safe with him! He takes you different places in Santa Teresa and get to experience different kinds of waves and have fun!
• Ian (10/5): Great experience, lots of good vibes here - I really enjoyed my stay at Cafecito. It is a new hostel in the heart of Santa Teresa. Rooms with new and very comfortable beds and A/C. Shared bathroom with hot water, very well-equipped kitchen, the best organized refrigerator and pantry I have seen in a hostel. The beach is a 2-minute walk from the hostel. There are bars and restaurants nearby, supermarkets, sodas, banks, shops, everything. Cafecito wasn't my first choice, but I'm glad I stayed here, I'm not lying. Chelsea and Lenin make this hostel have an incredible vibe. Trust me, u will love it here Sounds cheesy, but that I couldn’t stay longer

The location is perfect, just steps away from snta Tere beach, where you can enjoy magical sunsets and the relaxing sound of the ocean. The vibe is calm and authentic, perfect for disconnecting and enjoying the “pura vida” lifestyle. Everything was very clean, and their sweet cat added an extra touch of charm There isn’t much to dislike. If anything, the only bad part was having to leave this little piece of paradise so soon😌

Everything was very clean and organized, the bed in the dorm was comfortable with good quality bedding, and there was plenty of space to store personal items! The kitchen had everything you need there. The bathroom was clean, and the shower had great pressure as well as hot water! I have no complaints!

They offer really nice coffee, and I even had the time to learn how to make "Gallo Pinto" a traditional dish. I spent 4 nights at Cafecito and took 1 surf lesson, this was my second time surfing. Leni gave me the confidence I needed not to freak out. Next time I'll make sure I stay longer to keep learning. Surfing in Santa Teresa is an experience everyone should try at least once.
