Guest Reviews
- Shane (10/5): Great weekend escape - The property was gorgeous and the cottage was beautifully done, something really special to experience. A very peaceful and relaxing stay in the middle of rainforest hinterland.
- Georgina (10/5): A perfect rainforest retreat ... - Nightcap Ridge is a wonderful way to escape noise and distraction. We stayed in Blue Fig Cottage. Loved the styling, the colour palette and the peace and quiet. We sat on the deck and chatted, listened to the birds and rested. The property has a number of private short bush walks and very close by you have access to many other rainforest walks. Hosts are excellent communicators, we didn't want to leave. 100% recommend. Mmmm... nothing!
- Hayley (10/5): - Fantastic stay! From the moment we walked in the place felt like home! The styling is on Point & the views are stunning at every hour of the day. The place oozes character and is everything one needs for a bit of R&R.
Highly recommend for families, romantic getaway or even a wedding!
- Maegan (10/5): A magical and cosy rainforest escape - We had the most amazing stay at Nightcap Ridge. The cottage itself did not disappoint, it was beautifully styled, cosy, and so relaxing to unwind in.
We spent one day doing the Rail Trail bike ride and stopped for lunch at the Eltham Pub, which made for a perfect outing. Back at the cottage, our kids absolutely loved exploring the rainforest and spotting wildlife.
Waking up each morning to fog drifting through the trees, with birds chirping and owls hooting, felt truly magical. On our last night, the clouds cleared and we were treated to the most incredible starry sky.
It was such a peaceful and memorable family escape.

- Amy (10/5): Would highly recommend! - Nightcap Ridge was something really different for my kids and us as a family and we had the best time! We were given detailed instructions on how to get to the property (as one way would have seen us stuck) and even though the roads were unsealed it wasn’t too bad getting in. The actual cabin was stunning. It had a homely feel but also felt luxurious also and I’m very fussy with cleanliness. Sitting on the verandah and enjoying the views was my favourite part. Was a pretty quick drive into Byron and there’s also an amazing pie shop 15-20 minutes away. The leeches when we went bushwalking - lol but this wasn’t the owners fault! Other than that I couldn’t fault anything about our trip.
- Sharyn (10/5): Totally enjoyed our family 2025 Xmas. So many memories created. - Location was just what we were looking for - family Xmas getaway. Should have told our daughter to iron all her clothes beforehand
- Denise (10/5): - Beautifully appointed and clean cottages, set amongst a beautiful national park location. Completely self-contained with a full kitchen. This place doesn't disappoint. Great hosts as well - very helpful.
- siobhan (9/5): -
- CazT (9/5): Mysterisch. - Omgeving…..paradijs. Verwarming.
Maar ook dat heeft zijn charme.
- Ingrid (10/5): Stunning location, beautiful cottage, and tranquil - Nightcap Ridge is in an outstanding location - so remote, in the middle of Gondwana Rainforest. You can step outside the cottage and hike for hours in the most spectacular forest. The cottage is beautifully styled, super comfortable and really practical. The owners, Nick and Adam, were so friendly, and incredibly helpful.

- Nicole (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (8/5): Very good - The upgrade to Rose Bank Cottage was great. We really appreciated having the fire lit before we arrived. Lovely bathroom. Rose Bank Cottage - Other than the fire there was no other heating. The bed is old style and sags in the middle.
Our original booking was the Studio - garden view. We were so grateful that we were upgraded as we’ve since found out that the studio was not as described. For example ‘the fireplace is the standout feature…’ is actually outside not inside. The ‘private bathroom’ is separate to the studio. You are required to walk outside to access it. Not very convenient in winter or when raining. We would not have booked the studio if we were aware of these details. Clearer, accurate descriptions of the facilities of the studio would be appreciated.
- Janelle (9/5): All stresses disappeared from the first step into the cottage , it’s isolated, stunning views and a little bit of paradi - Quiet and peaceful with absolutely stunning views !! Beautiful little cottages , decorated beautifully and the open fire was gorgeous as it was very cold. Nothing, the drive in is very isolated but stunning rainforest !
- Lavinia (10/5): Enlightening energy in the heart of nature - I love the remoteness of the location in the middle of the bush with clean air nature’s noises only perfect clear sky for sky gazing & so much more that needs to be seen, felt & smelled. I loved everything
- Hannah (7/5): Good - Nightcap Ridge is in a beautiful and peaceful setting, with privacy and nature all around. The accommodation is listed as *3 stars* online and upon staying there I agree that this is a fair rating. The exceptional reviews and styled photographs did heighten our expectations however, and we were a bit disappointed with our experience. The Studio / Loggers Cabin has nice interior design elements, but was still very rustic for the price tag. We experienced a few annoyances during the stay, some of which were affected by ongoing supply issues following the ex-tropical cyclone in February, but which nevertheless impacted on our experience. The outdoor bathroom, while appealing in photos, is trying in wet weather. And there was no indoor fireplace anymore, despite this still being listed in the accommodation description. Overall this is a nice and very peaceful place to stay, but it's pricey for what it offers.
- Ashlee (7/5): Nightcap ridge getaway! - The size of the property, the maps of the walking tracks, the quietness, and the hosts are so flexible and accommodating. We walked to Rocky Creek waterfalls down Blue Fig Rd which was a 7km round trip we also went down to the other end of the Rocky Creek Falls down Rummery Road which was a 3km round trip the waterfalls were beautiful. The toilet and shower being separate from the loggers cottage it's a bit cold at night and in the morning heading outside to the toilet especially heading into the cooler months (winter), not having block-out curtains on the windows only sheer curtains that you could see through and no curtains in the dining room, not being told we wouldn't have access to the combustion stove as it was broken only gas portable stove and gas heater, the door to the outside to the BBQ area does latch as the locking mechanism is bent and will only close when the door locks at top and bottom of the door secure the door so essentially has to be locked from the inside to keep it closed, there is no screens on the doors to keep flies out. Loggers cabin is abit run down gutters need cleaning, the outdoor bathroom shower was hit and miss couldn't get consistent hot water kept cutting out. We were also supplied with wet firewood which wasn't going to burn luckily we baught some our own.
- Ann (9/5): Superb - Coming into the cottage on a rainy night to a lovely fire going was so welcoming. Our hostess was friendly and very helpful.
The views through the windows were a balm to me, beauty all around.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin, very spacious and comfortable. The road in was an experience. Which I have been told in in the works to be fixed. Drive with care.
The scenery made it worth it though ☺️
- Dragan (9/5): Great weekend getaway - This place is amazing for anyone who wants to get away from reality, quiet and relaxing. All you need to do it bring your own things, and know how to stoke a fire in the cold (possibly bring your own small heater for the rooms if its winter)
Otherwise come in, bring a book, some wine and relax The roads to get there were less than ideal. even in a UTE it was slow going, not knowing how bad it could have been I don't think i would have been able to get there if we took out other car.
- Seema (9/5): It was a nice experience and a great place to relax and unwind. I would come again during non wet season. - It was quiet, peaceful and refreshing. Tiny little cabin had almost everything we needed. Bed was comfy, bathroom was clean.
The owner was also very welcoming and helpful.
I was able to use the firewood despite the rain, owner helped us.
It’s not very close to cabin, I think for safety reasons. We took the rough road to the property.
It’s actually 20 mins of small and dirt/gravel road, just need to drive slow and it’s fine.
But i think I took the other entrance with 40 mins of dirt road.
Also, weather was a bit unexpected. Was raining most of our stay but it was okay for a change to stay indoors.
Careful with the leeches during wet season.
- Katrina (10/5): We really enjoyed our weekend at a Nightcap ridge. We will definitely be back again. - A gorgeous cottage tucked away in the Hinterland. The locations is beautiful. Private, cosy and quiet. The cottage had everything you need for a relaxing break or holiday.
- Morrie (7/5): Green lush, lovely cottage and a crazy drive to get there. - The cottage was beautiful and tastefully decorated. I loved the decor. The backdrop of the rainforest is just stunning. The sounds of the forest were soothing and being in a national park is quite a different experience. My husband and I are always looking for unique and slightly off the beaten path experiences. In my opinion, the host needed to inform us about the specific driving terrain. This was not an easy drive and it was stressful due to a number of factors - such as we had a small rental car (I would have felt far more confident in a larger vehicle), some parts of the road had significant potholes, and near the end of this 45 min drive from
Bangalow was a single track road. The area also received significant rainfall which also complicated the drive. Consider yourself warned :) as to the other reviewers, this property was a little too much off the beaten track for us.
- Kate (10/5): Family reunion getaway - Excellent stay. The house was beautifully presented with comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. Everything was provided that was needed for a relaxing stay. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit. The natural surroundings provided peaceful walks in the forest and a restful time. Highly recommended. Nothing. Be aware of leeches!
- Robyn (10/5): Exceptional - The location and accommodation are lovely. It was so very peaceful as well.
- Matthew (10/5): Beautiful tranquil setting in the mountains - Amazing place tucked up in the mountains. Beautiful setting. Amazing animal life. Very clean. Staff were extremely helpful. Bath and shower were amazing with a view to forest. Quiet and peaceful 10 out of 10 would stay there again.
- Damian (10/5): - I booked the Romantic cabin for a 3 day brain refresh.
Absolutely incredible accommodation, so much attention to detail in furnishing the place with beautiful furniture.
Opened all the doors and just loved the breeze blowing through and the rainstorms.
Best sleep-in ever - bed is so good.
It is exactly as the photos indicate, just superb.
Thankyou
Damian
- Tara (10/5): Exceptional - This was such a beautiful and peaceful location. The cottage was wonderful with the fire place already going when we arrived. The owner was very friendly and helpful, we would love to come back and stay again.
- Jesse (10/5): Exceptional - The host lives on the property and was able to get us settled in nicely. The view, the forest, the wildlife, all were stunning. Such a cozy little mountain forest getaway. Roads leading to the property weren't good due to poor weather which made for some difficulty getting to the property in a small car.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - The peace and quiet and privacy . A magical place ✨️ to stay . Enjoyed the stay wildlife every where . So recommend this place I will be back It's a long way from anything but this makes it a very special place to stay 💕 ✨️
- Cathy (9/5): Perfect setting in a beautiful landscape to explore the hinterlands and have quality time together - The sound of nature, lovely host and charming design of the accomodation Some mosquitos after dark being in nature as to be expected but nice insect spray was provided
- Emily (10/5): Devine cottage, wonderful host, incredible property. - Phenomenal property on the edge of the national park. The cottage was honestly one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Everything in the cottage seemed considered and designed to evoke peace and presence. From something as simple as the lack of visible powerpoints, to the beautiful retro radio and lounge setting to the deeply peaceful clawfoot bath and fireplace. We arrived, went back in time for a few days to when life felt simpler and left feeling truly content - something rare in this age. Additionally, Sara the host was incredibly thoughtful and accomodating. Magical place, thanks for having us, we will be back and will tell all our friends x
- Thompson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karla (9/5): Superb -
- Charlene (6/5): Pleasant -

- Rodrigo (9/5): Funtastic nature great facilities - Great place, great setup A bit off the main tracks, prepare for driving to-from
- Alyssa (10/5): Exceptional - Just perfection!
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Penny (8/5): Absolutely beautiful! Great location, perfect relaxing holiday spot - The location was so peaceful and quiet. Beautiful views to and such a lovely location to wake up to every day. Unfortunately there was not a washing machine or iron available, that would have been helpful.
- Caroline (8/5): If you are looking for a secluded retreat amongst nature then this is the place! - We didn't have the breakfast The roads in and out are a little tricky
- Jackie (10/5): Our stay at Nightcap Ridge was amazing! A hidden paradise built for relaxation and recharge. - Surrounded by pristine national parks, the location was fantastic. Easy access to walking trails and a short drive from some lovely country towns.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristen (9/5): Superb -
- Francis (10/5): Exceptional - The only thing I can request, I would like to have a new knife.
- Bianca (8/5): We had a wonderful weekend away, it was great to get away from the rush of every day life! - The location was stunning! There was no microwave which I would have expected.
- Jason (10/5): Beautiful peaceful place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life! - Loved the peaceful quiet location. Beautiful views driving there. Lovely fire place in room and outside fire pit. Nice deep long bath 2 soak in. Beautiful country view from room Couldn’t stay longer
- Rochelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Troy (10/5): Fantastic place to unwind and relax. - Great out of the way location, very secluded.
- Denver (9/5): Superb -
- Tina (8/5): Very good -
- Kirsty (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful setting. - I highly recommend electric blankets.
- Caroline (7/5): Good - A beautiful property set right in the middle of the national park. It was comfortable and warm in the middle of a cold winter weekend. We enjoyed beautiful hikes throughout our weekend. There's no room service but we brought enough food to last the weekend.
The property is off grid with no reception and runs on gas and solar. The facilities are outside separate from the studio, which wasn't advertised in the ad. It was a cold toilet trip in the middle of the night!
We woke up on Saturday morning with no gas, so the property was freezing and there was no hot water, or even a way to make a coffee to warm up. The owners did fix it quickly when we addressed it. We then woke up on Sunday morning with no electricity, so no hot showers or wifi to contact the owners. The place was also hard to find in the dark, better directions would have been useful.
- Tanya (10/5): Just magical - The location is incredible. Plenty of Privacy from main house and other accommodation on the same property. The hot water system is amazing. And the open view of the stars from around the fire - just magical
- Gordon (10/5): Peace and tranquility in a beautiful setting! - We stayed in the Loggers Cabin. Whilst it was cold outside on these winter evenings, the internal gas heating is excellent and we loved sitting outside by the fire admiring the canopy of stars. The peace and tranquility, natural beauty, quiet environment, wonderful birdlife and superbly presented and equipped cottage are a treasure. We appreciated the warm welcome from Sara. The bed is super-comfortable and the quick hot water and pressure for the shower and bath are great. We highly recommend Nightcap Ridge and visiting Minyon Falls (very close) was wonderful, as were the hiking trails. We'll definitely be back. It's off-the-grid (i.e. no phone signal from our provider here, no internet and we didn't bother with the TV), what a pleasure to disconnect (You can drive a short distance up the road for a phone signal in an emergency). Thank you!!!
- Thileepan (9/5): Superb -
- Phoebe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brittney (10/5): This place was beautiful, the owners were extremely helpful we had an amazing time and didn’t want to leave - The serenity was beautiful The cottage had everything we needed
- Liam (10/5): A fantastic weekend away, great location, great accommodation. - Sad to leave, wish we lived there. Everything was well above the standard. Will be back.
- Brooke (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, tranquil & comfortable.
- Lachlan (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely beautiful property nestled next to national park. Only the sounds of nature, so many beautiful birds flying around. Very tranquil. The bathroom with bath tub was definitely a nice touch for utter relaxation.
- Larissa (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the cabin and especially the bath.
- Ross (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (9/5): Great place to stay to relax and surrounded by beautiful rainforest. - Comfortable and quiet location. The fireplace and fire pit were excellent. Beautifully decorated and communication with the host was excellent. The location was probably a little further off the beaten track for us.
- Melinda (8/5): Beautiful stay. - Washing facilities would be good addition to the property.
- Patrick (9/5): Superb -
- Prabha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlie (10/5): It's a must stay. Amazing wildlife and scenery - Amazing location. It's a must if you love nature and peacefullnes. Possible a ceiling fan in living area on hot days
- Sanjeewa (10/5): Nice and relaxing. Perfect place to spend sometime with the nature. - Perfect location to spend a holiday away from noisy city.
Property was very clean and tidy. We found everything we needed in the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms.
Welcome by the owner was very warm and lovely. Water pressure was low in some toilets. We expected to have two bathrooms in one of the cottages. But both the cottages were two bed, one bath.
- Yu (9/5): Superb -
- Nyree (10/5): Nature and nurture in tranquility - Stunning location, peaceful surrounds and beautifully styled home away from home. Will certainly back for a reset in nature and away from it all.
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Lovely, homely and a stop and reset stay - Everything the gardens, view and atmosphere were perfect The beds were very uncomfortable and the shower was too slippery. It needed a hand rail or non slip floor
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (7/5): Good - Very nice outlook, colonial charm Antique stove used as heater generates smoke on start up, and at times during operation. It's too old and leaks gasses Windows need to be left open.
Amazing bathroom but separate, outside not ideal in the middle of a cold night
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely Loved it!!!!!!
- Kirsty (10/5): A wonderful getaway from it all - Very cute loggers cabin set in an amazing sloping lawn surrounded by trees. Perfect setup for a few nights of snuggling up around a roaring fire or enjoying a good book in the bath tub. It was such a shame that the old stove wasn’t working, but Fraser made sure we had a gas cooker for all our meals.
- Jerry (10/5): We’ll be back - Fabulous location
- Valenchu17 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional - From the moment that we entered the property, it felt like a slice of heaven. From the moment that we opened the doors, we felt like we were home away from home. Everything was perfect. It was a comfortable and beautiful place to relax and unwind. The surroundings were so quiet and peaceful with plenty of tracks to explore during the day and just sit and unwind on the jetty by the dam. Every part of the cottage had attention to detail from eggs and milk in the fridge to making the smallest comforts feel like you are at home.we lived that the off grid living when driving out we rebooked for another time.
- Sarah (10/5): amazing and would highly recommend - the host was amazing along with the property and grounds
- Tahlee (10/5): breathtaking - everything was immaculate! we immediately felt at home and could relax instantaneously. the property was perfect. the only suggestion we could make would be to have sharper kitchen knives for cooking we ended up popping into town to buy one.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jo (9/5): Superb - beautiful surroundings and lovely fire
- Trevor (10/5): We would recommend to anyone, we would stay again. - It was a beautiful private haven. More than we could have hoped for. Very comfortable and amazing views.
Just fantastic! The roads in a little rough but a 4x4 would do it easy.
But still fantastic!
- Kayleigh (10/5): Exceptional stay, great host. Would highly recommend! - Beautiful property hidden in the mountains. Great location to have as a base and explore the waterfalls and surrounds. We had the most relaxing weekend and would highly recommend! -
- Sally (10/5): Magical hinterland hideaway - Brilliant location hidden in the hinterland. Mysterious windy roads lead to the property which then opens into a rolling manicured lawn overlooking the dam. House was charming, lovely evenings on the deck. As soon as the sun goes down the sounds of nature amplify like I’ve never heard before, my English in-laws were thrilled. All up a very peaceful place to stay, feels rather like you’ve gone back in time. No complaints
- Connors (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsty (10/5): Would highly recommend for a truely relaxing break. - We loved the remoteness of Nightcap Ridge, giving us the chance to truely "unplug" and enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush.
- Nan (9/5): Superb -
- Ashlee (10/5): Exceptional - We had an amazing weekend surrounded by nature in this dreamy cabin. We haven’t felt this relaxed in a very long time and would love to stay again in the future.
- Anonymous (9/5): The stay was so relaxing and felt in touch with nature - secluded, landscaping and natural surrounding needed one more bathroom and ceiling fans in main area and porch. Getting to the location was an adventure with tough terrain and one lane roads. Website should have the recommended route.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - everything nothing
- Urszula (9/5): Superb -
- Emily (10/5): thanks we had a fantastic time - relaxing
- Anna (10/5): Outstanding - Fire was lit for arrival . Awesome host. Escorted us safely through flood affected areas. Outstanding Only had time to stay 2 nights. would love to stay longer
- Pearce (9/5): Superb -
