- Daniel (1/5): There was no stay after paying for it. - Nothing considering either the owner or booking.com screwed me. I showed up after paying to learn people were already there. So after paying for a
Lift in the freezing cold. Had to pay for another one outta there. The owner tried pretending he didn’t understand why booking.com did that. Nevertheless, they didn’t refund you right away. Eight to
Nine days later I still
Haven’t gotten my money back. Probably the not being able to stay there after paying for the room. And the owner hasn’t wanted to rent to me since. Like I somehow did him dirty. And the property definitely needs improvements to make it more commercially acceptable. I think the owners most likely super frugal. As he owns many properties with like 8 apartments on each. So he’s not struggling financially that’s for sure.
- Katharina (10/5): - Had a perfect stay! Thank you for everything. Very friendly!
- The Solutionist (9/5): Nice place, good host, bad weather - Good location. Host is easy to deal with and very accommodating. Steep stairs into suite and in and out of backyard. Could use a better snow shovel or some salt and ice melt as it is very slippery coming in and out
- The Solutionist (7/5): Great location for you and your pup! - Great location and David is super professional, friendly and easy to deal with. Had everything you need and great for my dog with a big park in the back. Could be a little cleaner and could provide more essentials like coffee, whitener and sugar, salt and pepper and cleaning supplies.

- The Solutionist (10/5): Great digs, big park - Well appointed facilities, great location for the dog with a big park behind the property. David is super easy to deal with. Great location!
- The Solutionist (10/5): Great location, east going host - The location is fantastic and David is so accommodating, prompt and attentive.
- Niessen (1/5): Worst host I've ever dealt with aand is the definition of a Slum Lord 150% and very ungrateful man - I liked when we left this unit and would highly recommend that if your looking for a host to take advantage of you and rip you off after you check out then this is the perfect place for you I didn't like how once the host David knew we were leaving he tried to charge me $300 for a old crappy chair he bought second hand for less than $20 because my cat scratched it where other cats already had then he wanted me to pay him the $300 for the chair and to go buy him another chair and he wanted me to buy him a new boxspring for the one bed because he tried to say my cats damaged it but they didn't cause the black felt underneath the box spring was torn and on the floor upon checking in. And I didn't only stay for 2 nights I stayed at his 4644b 4th st NW for 2 weeks and paid him privately and I highly suggest you do a video walk through of any of his properties as soon as you get there because after spending almost double what one would pay per month for 2 weeks the host David is ungrateful and tried to scam me into paying him $300 for a $20 second hand piece of crap chair and wanted me to buy him a brand new box spring for one that was second hand then wanted me to pay him a $300 damage deposit plus double the rent per night if I wanted to extend. But Booking.com covers slum lords like him for supposed damages and the last night we stayed there the people that rented the upstairs unit blasted music at 3am then had a fire start in the kitchen at 4am and had people in and out all night but he never tried to scam them but that's because they only stayed one night unlike myself who fell for him acting too nice once he knew I was extending for 3days at a time but privately through him not Booking.com
- Gregoire (1/5): - No positives. Host is fraudulent. Changed the location of my booking last minute to a gross basement suite. Currently attempting to connect with Booking.com customer service but that is proving very difficult. According to Reddit threads, this is a common issue.
- The Solutionist (10/5): Great place on 4th Street NW to stay - Great location. Fantastic host! What's not to like?
- Sean (8/5): Pleasant, thanks! - Good location quiet and easy. Lot of hoops to jump through to check in

- Tammy (10/5): - They were very accommodating when we needed to extend our stay they worked with us to make sure we were looked after All was good

- David (3/5): Bad host with strange ritual regarding check in - The beds were comfortable. Free parking. This was one of the strangest experiences I've ever had on booking.com, out of hundreds of times using it. The host insisted on receiving a screenshot proving we had a booking, and a photo id, before telling us how to get in. Then, he was bad about checking messages so we wasted literally hours messaging back and forth with him. The platform already protects owners if tenants cause damage. There's no need to ask for a photo of id. Similarly, he can log in and see that you've booked so really no need to ask for a screenshot of your booking. The host was unfriendly overall. Lastly, despite the listing saying that the place had a laundry machine, when the host finally sent us the check in instructions, it said you have to pay to do laundry using the machine in the apartment. I find that very annoying, like a bait and switch.
- Macrina (7/5): De paso en Calgary - Suficiente para 1 noche en Calgary, fácil aparcamiento y mucho espacio en el apartamento. Había cocina pero sin utensilios prácticamente. Algo complicado de encontrar si llegas de noche.
- Anifie (1/5): Do NOT book this place! - We booked two nights, but from the moment we got there at 10:30 PM, there was no running water. Not a word about it before we arrived. What’s worse is that the neighbours told us the owner was aware of the water issue since 2 PM that day (and the owner also mentioned he was aware since the afternoon of that day), yet we received no heads-up at all. Meanwhile, neighbours had water running fine. BASIC CONVENIENCE NOT PROVIDED.
The house was dirty - bugs everywhere, a terrible smell, and the bed sheets smelled like they hadn’t been cleaned. Other reviewers had mentioned this previously, and it appears to be 100% true.
We couldn’t even wash our hands after a long trip or use a toilet (once again, vbasic needs)
The entrance instructions were sent to us after our check-in time, even though I had already submitted all my ID and confirmation, the owner requested it a day before.
Due to no water access, and the only resolution offered was to carry water in buckets from the outside, we asked to have a refund so we can spend another night at another place where there is water. For which the owner said: "Who's gonna refund me?".
I'm sorry, FOR WHAT??? We stayed there for approx. 5 hrs, with no service provided.
Save yourself the headache, stress, and wasted money - do NOT book this place. There are plenty of better options out there.
- Fatima (3/5): -
- Julie (7/5): Sufficient for our purposes - Quite close to the airport and several dinner options within walking distance. Steep stairs, okay for us but would be difficult for some. There was a lot noise from upstairs doing some repairs late at night.
- Oscar (5/5): Passable -
- Yao (1/5): Not recommended cause it stink - It stinks Stinks
- William (1/5): Don't book. Don't book - Large T.V and fridge freezer. New wc and wash basin. Shower ok. Horrible smell. Bedding stained. Poor decoration old furniture.
Smell so bad that it put us off eating in the accommodation.
Price far too high for this standard.
- Alvin (7/5): Good - Location was excellent and convenient to get to. The neighbors were pretty noisy and played loud music late into the night. The host was responsive to complaints though.
- Kandice (4/5): It would have been good if not for the terrible smell! - The place is in a nice quiet neighborhood and not far from the airport. The beds were comfortable and the size of the place was good with a decent size backyard and a table to sit at on the porch. The place was a little dingy with a few broken things but this didn't bother me much as the price was pretty good. The reason why I had to give such a low rating, is the place absolutely stinks. It is a smell of old cat pee and it was so strong and unpleasant that I could hardly stand to be inside. We opened the windows (there are only 2) and put the fan to try to get the smell out but couldn't, so overall we passed a rather unpleasant time.
- Gina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bijendra (4/5): Disappointing -
- Charlotte (5/5): Passable -
- Harvey (5/5): Passable - Location was as expected. Living room furnture was small like for a teenager. Rules stated no noise after 10Pm the first and second night the upstairs tenant came in after 10pm and were loud and banging cupboards and furniture and sounded drunk. These were a Wednesday and Thursday night.
- Faith (1/5): Bad -
- Alec (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Our agent. David was helpful, accommodating and friendly.
- Vadym (9/5): Superb - I liked everything The bed is a little uncomfortable, but I think you need to get used to it
- Ashak (9/5): Superb -
- Courtney (10/5): Great stay in Calgary - The host was very accomodating and helped us with everything we needed. House was great and very spacious. Really good location for the bus into town. Shower didn’t drain very well but it wasn’t a big problem
- Lucie (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good, free parking. I did not get check in information and I had to ask and wait long for them. We we tired. Accessories of apartmen is older and not super clean. I would say low cost accomodation, for one night good...
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqueline (1/5): Bad -
- Joe (7/5): Good -
- Srinidhi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheuk (5/5): So-so and passable experience - The location is good, just 10 minutes drive to downtown and it is quite affordable. One of the room and bathroom have cigarette smoke smell and no air freshener is provided. Luckily there are 2 rooms and another room is okay. It is not super clean which some stains can still be seen on the floor, doors and walls but it is still acceptable.
The most unsatisfying thing is the host is not responsive on booking.com chat. He
didn't send all the check-in information in advance proactively. I asked at around 7pm but didn't get a response so I called the host directly. He asked me to send him my photo ID and screenshot of reservation via text message, and he will then send me the check-in information. I didn't expect that a guest needs to contact the host proactively while other hosts will reach out to me.
It was raining so the check in was a bit messy. The guidance on the pictures and in the check-in instructions are not clear enough. We have spent some time finding the right path to the house. The path from parking to the suite entrance is not cemented so it was muddy. My white shoes became dirty after that. I know rainy weather is not a controllable factor, but just want to remind others do not wear white shoes if you're arriving on a rainy day.
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - Nice clean suite , comfortable beds, friendly management
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (2/5): Very poor -
