Guest Reviews
- Linda (7/5): Comfortable budget stay - Great central location, comfortable and quiet. Only one working bathroom/shower for all rooms (over 10 as far as I could see). Bathroom needs an update.
- Zito (8/5): - The price Shared bathroom
- Poppleton (7/5): Good for a short stay. - Easy to access The noise people are screaming maybe it because near the busy Rd. Plus it's a pub.
- Lance (6/5): - Value for price with clean and comfortable bedroom. Shared bathroom facilities are OK as long as only 1 or 2 guests as there is only 1 bathroom. TV and air-conditioning were fine with tea and coffee facility but no hand wash available in bedroom. Previous dinner dining discount for in-house guest no longer available from menu.

- Marisha (6/5): - The girls behind the bar and cleaners were awesome great customer service friendly and accommodating The vibe of the place and setting
- Guy (7/5): Really well located, with old world charm and great staff - Location suited my purposes very well. Great food in the bistro. Lovely staff her were friendly, helpful and very attentive. Creaky floorboards upstairs. Too many screens with horse racing in what was otherwise a lovely front bar.
- Aldred (10/5): Great place to stay - Food downstairs was delicious
- Hilary (8/5): central, good basic overnight stay. - central, good basic overnight stay

- Alison (5/5): Very good value for money if you’re on a budget - Central location, very convenient Creaky floorboards and shared bathroom facilities
- Rosewarne (7/5): It was reasonable for one night for the price but unfortunately lacks comfort. - Location was great, close to everything in town. The staff were great and the hotel was convenient. The ensuite bathroom was clean and large enough. You feel every spring in the mattress and sink to the frame. The old timber floors are so noisy/creaky that anyone walking upstairs is very loud, especially coming up from the bar. I understand this is a historic hotel, but this was very loud.
- Colin (8/5): Clean and comfortable stay in historic location - Clean and comfortable accommodation in a nice historic location at a reasonable price.. A nice location, but unfortunately my late arrival on a Sunday meant my evening meal was restricted to fast food options
- Nadja (8/5): Così così - Accoglienza sorridente veloce
Parcheggio gratuito antistante l entrata
Vi è un pub dove si puo anche cenare chiude la cucina alle 20 Arrivare alla camera un po’ contorto

- Michael (7/5): - Only one shared shower for all guests .Needs another one.
- Robyn (7/5): Old pub - good stay - Convenient to cafes and the theatre which is why I was in town. Lovely bar /reception staff. It’s an old pub but room was more than adequate. There are bathroom renovations currently going on. Good parking. Nothing really.

- Rob (9/5): Short, sweet and stress free. - Historical building with a classic feel while still being well ain’t aimed and very clean. Right in the heart of town and one staircase away from food, drink and pokies. No complaints at all.

- David (8/5): -
- Marek (10/5): -
- Francois (7/5): - Le personnel était top ainsi que la nourriture proposée au restaurant de l’hôtel. La propreté des parties communes laissait à désirer.
- Lauren (3/5): Noisy location and uncomfortable beds. Very difficult to sleep. - Extremely noisy location with music blaring late into the night and starting again from somewhere inside the hotel from 6am the next morning. My family hardly slept due to the noise and the beds were also very uncomfortable and bouncy. Haven't had such a bad night's sleep in ages - not ideal when we you need to drive long distances the next day.
- NI-JUNG (Judy) (6/5): - The location is really great in the lovely village of Sale, and having free secure parking is awesome. At midnight, we could hear people shouting (maybe because they were drunk).
- Susan (10/5): excellent location -
- hamish (9/5): -
- Ian (8/5): Relaxing -
- Bert (7/5): - Central location. Helpful staff. Smart TV. Clean bathroom. On site dining. Small bedroom.

- Nigel (5/5): -
- Kerry (8/5): - Cheap, clean and comfortable. Very dated. Lots of clutter and things everywhere. Renovations are obviously an ongoing thing. Vacuuming the carpet in the hallway might be a good thing? First thing I noticed.
- David (8/5): -
- Patricia (6/5): Staff made us feel very welcome and assisted us with all our needs room was great facilities need a facelift - Staff were very welcoming and assisted with carrying our bags up 2 flights of stairs It is an old pub room and bed were great other facilities were old and tired needing a face lift

- Deman (7/5): -
- Jon (4/5): -
- Robert (8/5): Good old pub - Closeness to town Good facilities Shower facilities were difficult
- Wing (7/5): Can't fault the staff or the locaon but wa definitely a budget stay which we needed for our 1 night - Location was central to everything. Heating and cooling provided as well as towels, tea and coffee Small room with bunk beds although this was possibly my fault
- Thierry Dardare (8/5): - Emplacement, climatisation Salle de bain sommaire pour 15 chambres!
- Patrick (10/5): -
- Frank (7/5): - Location and staff Access door set up and aging bathroom
- David (8/5): -
- Brad (8/5): - Staff and food were excellent. Karaoke host a bit dodgy
- Joanne (6/5): Location was great. - Location, the mirror in the room, a smart tv but you needed to login to your own accounts. Those are some very squeaky floor boards in the hallway.
Most uncomfortable hard bed I ever slept in. I put the spare blanket on top of the mattress to help but didn’t work.
Only one shower and two toilets for the whole accommodation to share. At least 3 other showers were nailed shut with a renovations sign.
Room had an unpleasant smell, bring a room freshener.
- Andrew (7/5): -
- Dianne (10/5): Great place for basic accommodation. - Location. Price. Staff were lovely.
- Charmaine (2/5): - Comfortable bed Room was adverised on Booking.com with a shower. There was no shower or any bathroom facilities in the room. The bathroom was down the hall where the door to the shower did not lock and the toilets did not work properly.
- 李 (10/5): - 位置很好,很安静。设施非常齐全。很值得推荐。
- aerozeppelin (10/5): Great pub stay - Check in was seamless, friendly staff, comfortable bed, room was pre-warmed, great location Shared bathroom however was exceptionally clean and private emough
- Gail (10/5): Lovely break in a long trip with delicious food from the bistro - Just a lovely hotel room, with TV room, bedroom and kitchen! Such a great central location. The staff were just AMAZING
- Shauni (7/5): Nice stay overall - beds could be improved. Great food and friendly staff! - The restaurant downstairs has great food + discount if you stay at the hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful! The location was amazing and very central. Bathroom and shower were clean! The bed wasn't great - the pillows were incredibly thin and there was a loud machine noise coming just outside our window all night. The doors to every room are also very loud to close and open, so it's to be expected that you hear people come and go.
- Katrina (8/5): Loved it! Will definitely be back! - Easy to find, staff were friendly and helpful, very quiet in the rooms - there was no sound travelling from the bar, room was very comfortable and clean. Would have loved to have had a mirror in the room. It was annoying running to and from the bathroom, between trying on dresses and going make up etc
- Cassandra (8/5): - Great location. Basic amenities, but excellent value for money. Guests receive a discount at the pub below, nice food. The carpet could do with a deep clean.
- Linda (8/5): Great budget accommodation. - Right in the middle of town and its old world charm. Only not picking - a hair dryer would have been good but most things thought of- great for the money.
- SVEN (7/5): Good value - NA NAGood
- Lisa (9/5): - Much better than expected for the price and great facilities. Perfect location too.
- Te Miha (10/5): - Really warm when I arrived, easy to find , great bar food and staff
- Jan (6/5): Not recommended in mid-winter - The Star is ideally located in the middle of town and has its own car park. The staff were delightful and very helpful and the apartment provided every facility including a full kitchen, although we didn't really need it as we were only staying one night. The hotel's bistro offers a discount for guests. The room price was great too - but perhaps should have rung alarm bells. We didn't expect modern motel-style accommodation as the hotel is historic and has a lot of character. But the apartment was freezing cold and the airconditioner/heater was in the hallway, so the heat didn't reach the lounge room, bedroom or bathroom. What heat there was obviously ended somewhere up near the incredibly high ceilings. Thank goodness for the electric blankets on the bed. Also, the bathroom and separate toilet were very shabby, with a shower over the rather deteriorated bath.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Aerozeppelin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elliot (10/5): Excellent stay in Sale - Only staying in the area for one.night and all I needed was a warm, clean room, which I got. The shower didn't have hot water for some reason but the bathroom basin did. I didn't bring it up with the hotel so I haven't lowered my rating.
- Adele (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the value for a fully self contained apartment. It was a charming little place right in the of the main shopping area. A beautiful and easy walk to the lake. A perfect stay to spend time visiting our family. There was nothing we didn't like.
There was a lot of heavy dust build up behind the washing machine and all the skirting boards were loaded in dust.
A funny thing was that we also stayed for a few days in May and my little grand daughter brought little toys with her when visiting. On this visit she was again in the lounge playing on the floor and she spotted one of her toys under the couch that she'd had with her in May!
Although it was funny, everyone commented that the couch obviously hadn't been moved or vacuumed under.
So maybe a bit of attention to the low level areas in all the rooms should be given more attention by the cleaner.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Leonie (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff , clean facilities, good access in and out of the building. Close or walking distance to various places in the street.10% off food if you are in the Bistro .
. Stairs not my favourite
- Daniela (6/5): Noisy and cold - Location I was in Sale for business in June. The apartment is directly above the pub, and the bedroom is above the pool table and pokie machines. It was extremely loud until 12 p.m.
It was also extremely cold. The reverse cycle heater is in the hallway (see picture), and all the rooms, including the bedroom and bathroom, are cold. I recommend getting small electric heaters for these rooms and an electric blanket for the bedroom.
- Stephen (7/5): Good -
- Molly (7/5): Good - Central location. 10% off on meals at the Bistro downstairs. The apartment contains 4 separate rooms: the living room, kitchen/dining room, bathroom, and bedroom. Very high ceiling. While the room is well sound proof from the bistro patrons downstairs, it had some noises from the street in the early morning. The bedroom is also quite cramped with the bed took majority of the space.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Adele (10/5): Exceptional - Perfectly located in the heart of Sale. A really sweet little apartment with every facility covered. Loved the providence of the beautiful building. A little dusty on skirting boards, just need a regular wipe over, but otherwise perfectly clean and tidy
- Peggy (8/5): Very good -
- Rohit (9/5): Superb -
- Ulfur (7/5): Good -
- Mary (10/5): should be called 5 Star - we where traveling and do not have email with us, staff at the bar showed us the lock box and got the key out for us
- Lee (6/5): Adequate. Comfortable bed - Very old, perfectly adequate, but because of hassles getting suitcases up the stairs, and through locked doors, walking through a public bar to get to our accommodation as two women we felt a little uncomfortable and would not stay here again because of this. The lock on the door didn’t feel sufficient for our surroundings.
- Shay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrik (1/5): Absolutely Terrible – Do Not Stay Here! - If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This was, without a doubt, the worst accommodation experience I’ve ever had. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the nightmare and book somewhere else. This place is a complete joke. There is no service whatsoever. The room itself? Overpriced and a just a random apartment space awkwardly crammed on top of the bar/resturant, surrounded by storage rooms, staff areas, and offices. It felt like an afterthought rather than an actual guest accommodation.
The furniture was a mishmash of old, worn-out junk, as if they just threw together whatever they could find. The bed was uncomfortable, the decor was nonexistent, and everything looked outdated and neglected.
Avoid at all costs
- Susan (10/5): A very comfortable and relaxing stay. We will be back. Wonderful pub staff and - A very comfortable stay. Clean room and linen. Great kitchen amenities, tea/coffee provisions, washer and dryer. We enjoyed the happy hour featuring a variety of cocktails and beers. Very friendly and helpful staff. The meals are good value and very tasty. Thanks for the 10% off food/meals which is on the key tag.
- Dean (8/5): Very good -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Drew (7/5): Good - Great space for whirlwind work trip/event.
My stay wasn't long enough to take full advantage of the facilities.
Would stay again.
- Eric (8/5): Very good - Location
- Zheliba (10/5): Exceptional -
- Madeleine (9/5): Excellent - The location and it had everything I needed Nothing maybe just a bit of band noise but nothing ear plugs didn’t fix !
- Robyn (8/5): Great facilities, no noise heard from pub below, very convenient stay - Great location, instructions for keys etc easy Nothing beats a friendly face on arrival- counter to this, check in details are convenient for late arrival.
