- Kermarrec (9/5): Magnifique expérience au coeur de corcovado - L'environnement.
L'accueil La visite dans corcovado trop courte en 1/2 journée en plus le guide avait une heure de retard

- Alex (10/5): All in all, a very beautiful stay in a beautiful place. GORGEOUS place!!!!! - We really loved the place, The grounds were gorgeous with beautiful and differing differing views from all over the large campus. The rock outcropping all along the waterfront was particularly beautiful. Each cabin was nicely designed and with wonderful architectural elements; stone bathrooms, as well. There were walking trails in all directions and many animals and birds to view. The entire campus was huge and gorgeous and very well-taken care of and it included orchards and a greenhouse. It was a truly gorgeous destination!!! The mother and original owner, (living on the premises) was wonderfully friendly; very welcoming, interesting and lovely in every way. She walked often with me, told the history and stories about the place. And, she had a live-in cat that was found in the National Park. Loved visiting the amazingly beautiful Tortoiseshell cat. Wonderful staff, Actually they were beyond wonderful and helpful in every possible way. Jean Carlos and Everlast (or a name close to that) were unbelievably wonderful and went beyond their job duties; so helpful and friendly and running to us to tell about particular animals spotted. We found it impossible to phone the lodge; no numbers worked. We tried everything. We ended up having to call Leo, the owner, and he was extremely disagreeable. We were missing key info and he was very ugly to us on the phone; not at all warm and client friendly. Said he was "The Owner and not a secretary". But upon arrival he was fine, just not outgoing. He tried to find animals for us to view. The Manager, Elizabeth, did her job but was also not particularly warm and friendly.

- Juliette Herbelin (10/5): Amazing - Exceptional location a bit further and quieter from crazy Drake Bay. We had the bungalow with the traditional roof made of fishtail palm leaves and could just open the door to see the waves crash on the rocks just in front of it - dreamy!! Outdoor shower: nothing to top that! The food was so nice, especially the traditional Tico breakfast and the pastries omg! Staff was super kind and helpful. The best part about Jungla del Jaguar is without a doubt their guide Yasnir. Yasnir is very knowledgeable and passionate. He has also many interesting and intense stories to tell about his wildlife encounters in and out of the national park!
Make sure to build up a minimum of physical condition before going on the Corcovado daytrip, it is quite a challenging hike with walking up (and down) a lot of muddy hills, and you will be walking 6 to 7 hours in hot and humid conditions! (With the awesome wildlife and forest beauty distractions, needless to say it's totally worth it). /
- Avishay (10/5): Just go to Corcavado and the Jaguar. Just do it. - If there's one thing you should do in CR, is go to Corcavado, and while there, give Rob and his team a visit. Ang go on trips, save money some place else. Nothing really.
- Shane (10/5): Incredible experience in the Costa Rican wilderness. - The Jaguars Jungle Lodge was incredible and I highly recommend staying here if you are interested in experiencing the best location in Costa Rica. We have been to Costa Rica six times and this was our favorite lodge. The location next to Corcovado allows for wildlife viewing that is rare within Costa Rica. Most lodges even within the Osa are not located in wilderness. We saw tapirs every night on the property during our 3 night stay. Another group saw a puma shortly prior to our arrival. It does require an adventurous spirit to journey to this lodge and luxuries such as air conditioning are simply not possible in such a remote location. However we were quite comfortable at Jaguars Jungle Lodge. The food was excellent, our room was comfortable and staff as well as our guide were great. We enjoyed hiking the trails around the lodge and coastline, snorkeling, the night nature tour, hiking to remote beaches and swimming at the beach in front of the lodge. Our children ages 12, 15 and 18 also thought it was fantastic. This location allows for a much different experience than many areas in Costa Rica where throngs of tourists walk the trails. We had an incredible experience but the remote location, lack of ac as well as necessity of travelling by boat to reach the lodge means this might not be the right choice for everyone.
Also we did not have to share a bathroom with the neighbouring 2 rooms but this would have been necessary if they had been booked.
- Florent (9/5): Superb - Beautiful setting on the beach with a well-maintained large garden connecting to a 2nd private beach, Very nicely and meticulously designed lodge with limited group attendance. Helpful and friendly staff for visit, expeditions.... observation of animals happens on the property premises, very close range... making it quite unique. Some of the shared bathroom could benefit from some occasional additional checks during the day.
- Anna (8/5): We would not come back for excursions but to stay at nature we would visit again. - Incredible location, great views of nature. Stylish and done with taste. Floor in room after cleaning was still full of sand especially the carpet also I got two ticks so they should do something about ticks in the property. I found one on the bed and two on my skin.
Also excursion with whales was overpriced but we didn’t see any an excursion was same length as others same style but cost us $450 extremely overpriced and we should be told that it is a rare chance to meet Wales in this season . All excursions we had were disappointed, and very comercial without proper explanations and gide on the property had very poor English so he couldn’t understand us sometimes when we asked questions neither could explain about nature.
- Dean (9/5): This spot is about as idyllic as jungle retreats come. - Everything about JJL was very good -excellent. The room and bathroom were both huge and very nicely decorated in an appropriate rustic/natural style. Location is superb!! Wildlife and bird viewing on the property were good (and I'm very spoiled in that context as I live in the jungles of Costa Rica). We even had a visit from a giant tapir two nights in a row which was very special. The guided hike into Corcovado NP was underwhelming (not the fault of JLL of course). In my view there are far too many people accessing the park and trails are too limited to allow for good probability of unique bird and wildlife sightings.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (10/5): Amazing wildlife and beautiful lodge grounds! Highly recommend. - Absolutely beautiful tropical paradise! We saw tapirs, coatis, monkeys, toucans, macaws and other birds on the property. The meals were absolutely delicious and plentiful and the staff were friendly!
Highly recommend a stay here!! We were disappointed with the tours and had been really looking forward to them after reading previous reviews. Our tour dates were all rescheduled and the Cano island tour scheduled for 8am left at 2pm limiting both our time and the visibility.
- Suzette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olalla (10/5): Excellent. - The staff was amiable and helpful, we had a very restful vacation. We saw a lot of biodiversity and even wild animals on the property. the food was delicious.
- Munira (9/5): Wish we could have stayed longer. - Fantastic location. Perfect sunsets. Visits from Toucans, Macaws and white faced capuchins. Friendly staff. Simple but satisfying meals. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Rob and Eddie were more than hospitable. Not much to dislike.
- Weguelin, (8/5): Great location but the vibe was off - Great location, beautiful surroundings and so much wildlife! The property is nice, food was excellent and communication before arrival was great Experience with the staff was mixed, sometimes friendly….sometimes not, felt like asking for something was an inconvenience & comments about the tour we booked with another company were rude
- Jitu (10/5): A life time experience - This place has everything - top service, delicious home made food including afternoon tea, 3 private beaches, breathtaking views and incredible fauna at your door step - a puma came to check the garden when we stayed there. We were at the bungalov and loved the architecure of it and details such as 2 showers, massive wooden furniture and double hammock in front outside the door. All the guys working there will make sure you will not want to leave the place (my favourite is the lady in charge of the kitchen). There is a bit of perfection and love in everything they all do. The food plan is set perfectly and extra drinks can be bought at the bar. The early check out depends on the only boat service from Sierpe which brings the question about Jaguar owning a boat with own captain and staff & being independent on the cheeky guys with clearly overpriced journeys. But I guess I am not the first person to suggest that plus I might be wrong.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Liesbeth (8/5): Beautiful stay away feom the real world - Beautiful location. The view is amazing. No large capacity so not many people around. The tours were fun. Yaznir did a great job! The food was nice. The room was quite hot, even a night. Only a small fan at the ceiling. There were quite a lot of bugs in the room, which didn’t help with a comfortable sleep. But you’re in the jungle so it comes with the package.
- Ori (9/5): Superb - Amazing location to get away, private beach, and close to Carcavado NP.
Meals were very good, and the staff guides, and bartender were friendly and knowledgeable.
Hope to visit again.
- Judith (10/5): Best vacation in paradise ever! - One word: paradise! Never been to such a great place before! It was such a warm welcome from the hosts Sofia, Ben and Monica. They took such great care of everything and always with a happy smile. also the food was mucha deliciosa! Yordany the chef created the best (vegan) food I have ever had during my journeys, you can even taste the love!
We also learned some Bachata moves from Eddy the bartender and caretaker. He spreaded the best vibes and created unforgetable evenings.
The tours were amazing! Yaznir and Diego are the best guides you could wish for. They know everything about nature, animals and jungle life and do it with such a great passion and a lot of humour. I will miss these two a lot. And also the owner taught us some wake boarding on the sea for fun - this guy has some skills!
Everything was cleaned daily and there is not a thing to complaine about. It was my best vacation ever and I will definitely come back soon! Nothing!
- Anca (10/5): Unforgettable & magical - Wonderful ecolodge (entirely powered by renewable energy) in full respect of the abundant fauna and flora all around! Magical place to connect with the most valuable treasures Costa Rica has to offer: pura vida!
- Chante (3/5): Beautiful beach, extremely overpriced food - Stunning location with a private beach for the hotel. The sunsets there are breathtaking. The snorkel tour was really nice, we saw a lot of fish, some turtles and even sharks. Ridiculous prices for the lunch and dinner which are mandatory to include. They only offered two options for each meal time. In the three night that we stayed there, we had the same vegetable and carb for every single meal. For those prices we expected much higher standards. They mention a dessert for dinner, but it was always just one bit size. The drinks are also overpriced and watered down. Our rooms had cockroaches in every corner, and there were no mosquito nets available.
- Gustavo (10/5): Exceptional - It is a magical place to be with beautiful outdoors areas. It has three beaches to enjoy and relax. I was in the dorms and it was perfect! Really good deal.
Meals are delicious! Super nice staff.
I really enjoyed my stay there. Starting already from the boat ride from Sierpe! So beautiful
- Michiel (9/5): Highly recommend lodge! - Beautifully located, well maintained, beautiful and spacious room (we were upgraded to a bigger room). Excellent food with two very tasteful hot meals a day, good breakfast and afternoon tea with cake. Friendly staff. The concrete path to our room went only halfway, so we needed to walk through the mud (they will complete it they said). Bar prices are displayed without tax.
- Asaf (8/5): Very good -
- Asaf (8/5): Magical location but ammenities leave room for improvement - Location is magical
Staff were lovely. Especially Eric took wonderful care of us and made sure we were comfortable and happy.
Yaznir, our guide on the national park was devoted and helpful and did everything he could so we have a great experience. we loved him. Staff is inexperienced. don't have enough knowledge yet of the activities (we dived and went on an overnight tour).
The overnight tour was intense because it rained nonstop so it would have helped if the staff prepared us better in terms of equipment to bring and what to expect.
rooms are low quality compared to price.
food is very expensive so you have alkoat no choice but to buy a meal plan for 40$+taxes per day so consider that in the budget.
- Asaf (8/5): Very good -
- Xantara (7/5): Good -
- Ohad (10/5): incredible experience! - Such an incredible experience! Feels like living inside the jungle! The stuff of the hotel were super nice! Big thanks to the chef Pablo who was amazingly nice and made for us the greatest food!
We will definitely come back :)
- Erik (10/5): marvelous - location and staff n.a.
- Katharina (10/5): Exceptional - it was so nice there. the Nature is beautiful. and the Personal is so friendly. we feel like there like in a Family. and the Tour through the Jungle was Amazing. we learn so much. And See a fer de Lance snake. Thank you soo much guys. Pura Vida
- Jo (1/5): Bad - It was the worst Hostel I ever stayed at. The manager is super arrogant and doesn’t care about you at all just when it comes to paying him. There is a lot of hidden costs and we paid 12$ for 2 pancakes for breakfast. They never tell you the prices of the food and even if you find them out you have to additionally add the taxes on top of the price. The beds are wet because of the humidity and they didn’t clean the bathrooms once during my 3 night stay (not even in the private rooms which are like 200$ per night). A girl came without reservation and the manager turned her away and didn’t give her one of the dorm beds even though 4 of them were empty and then she had to sleep in a tent at a beach while it was pouring rain. The prices of the food on the bill in the end were even higher than the ones that they told me when I ordered it and then extra taxes were added. I absolutely do not recommend this place and everybody who left with me felt the same way and was super mad when they left.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
