- Dinur (10/5): A very enjoyable experience - Very homelike feel
- Pierre (9/5): Superb -
- Wei (9/5): Superb -
- Karim (9/5): A good stop to rest a day before carring south in RN 40 towards National parks or toward Chile. - Was expecting a big place with loads of guest but it was a single house with only a few rooms. In room there was only 2 beds. Plenty of room for bags and a large wardrobe.
The area is quiet and there are no barking dogs at night.
The kitchen can be used for preparing dinners and breakfast.
The landlord speaks English in case your Spanish is limited.
As in many places cash payment is preferred. The door does not close because the lock is broken. Did not prevent me from sleeping though.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing host! Super friendly and very welcoming. 100% recommend.
Well equipped kitchen and clean bathroom.

- Isabella (6/5): Pleasant - The hostel is within 15 min walking distance from the bus station. The whole house was clean, the bed very comfortable. It's spacious and you'll find most of what you need in the kitchen. I arrived at 2 am and there was a key for me outside, it was easy to get into. On my last day, I was able to leave my luggage and stay at the hostel until the evening. I had a bit of a weird experience since Mauro wasn't there and most of the time there was no one staying there except me. It's more of an Airbnb than a hostel, it's a regular house with three bedrooms / six beds. While I was the only person staying there, there were constantly people coming and going at all times, sometimes late at night, dropping things off, potential guests asking for price rates etc. This did not feel safe for me as a female solo traveller. There was a 12% upcharge on the price that I was not informed about beforehand.
- Douglas (10/5): It’s a great base for a day trip to La Cueva de las Manos. - Good location
- Pellizzari (9/5): Superb -
- Alexander (10/5): Excellent pit stop - Excellent short stay at Mauro's nice place. Good bed, I had a really good night's sleep. Mauro kindly offered some tape to fix my motorbike, and gave great tips for visiting La Cueva de las Manos.
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (9/5): Superb - Owner was incredibly accommodating with my terribly inconvenient arrival and departure times due to the bus schedule. This felt more like staying in a home rather than a hostel - only 2 rooms and a very relaxed vibe. Spotlessly clean.
- Leslie (9/5): Quiet at Hostel Kau - This home hostel has great common spaces, including a back and front yard, a good-sized kitchen, and comfortable bedrooms. There's tourism information, along with a number of coffee table books (mostly Spanish but some in English). There's plenty of storage in the bedrooms, and the wifi was decent.
The owner was easy to work with and was generous enough to let me stay way past checkout while I waited for my bus. He waited up very late for me to arrive too. Which was very much appreciated. The only thing I would say is that it may be best for a group or family traveling together. There is one bathroom with the toilet, sink and shower all in one room. As the hostel has three bedrooms with two per room, it could get tricky if it were full. There are also no lockers, so sharing with strangers might be a bit less comfortable. When I was there, there was only one other person who very quietly came and went.

- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - Owner was greater and super hospitable. Room was nice and bathroom was good. Enjoyed my stay
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oliver (9/5): Superb - It's a very nice and small hostel, which had only shared rooms with two beds. Hence, it provides a cosy place to feel comfortable and relax. The WiFi is also decent.
- Matthew (10/5): Absolutely marvellous. One of our best days in Patagonia - A really nice and cosy little hostel, recently opened, which provides a perfect place to see the Cueva de las Manos and the astounding countryside all around Perito Moreno. You would struggle to find a more helpful and informative host than Mauro. In addition to running the hostel, he also offers excursions to the Cueva. As a former member of the team that developed the new national park nearby, he knows everything there is to know about the area. If you want to explore this hidden gem, Mauro is the man to help you do it.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arne (10/5): Exceptional - Nice little Hostel and good beds. Actually the best beds I had so far in Patagonia.
The owner even drove us to the bus station in the morning.
Kitchen is well equipped with free coffee/tea
- Lore (9/5): Superb - I felt so comfortable in this hostel that I decided to extend my stay for a week. It felt like a home where I could find some rest with all the facilities needed. The village is peaceful so at first it looks like there's not a lot to do, but there are a lot of day activities in the area, mainly in the national park Patagonia. Mauro, the owner, is very kind and helpful, gracias! He grew up here and worked in the park so he's the best guide to take you around and very attentive to your needs.
- Astrid (10/5): Exceptional - Mauro was the perfect host and also offers unique tours in the region
- Johan (10/5): . - great location close to bus terminal and shops/restaurants. good facilities, very clean, a real feel-at-home hostel. the owner Mauro gave very useful info about the area. all was good 😃
- Anonymous (10/5): Mauro is a great host. I would say 812838382 words about him but I think I won’t have the time for that, so please, come -
- Yu (10/5): Exceptional - It’s a quiet place close to the bus stop and brand new so everything is clean! Mauro is very kind being flexible, sharing nice touristic places and tips! 100% recomendado!
