• Karen (10/5): Favourite Place to Stay in Ballarat - Love Love Love the food, the location, the staff! I had a fabulous stay at Oscars and will be staying there again. The Warm Chicken Salad, the Tagliatelle, the coffee....it was all fantastic! I was so full of great food each night that I had no room to fit in a Sticky Date Pudding for desert!

Our room was closest side to the road and we are light sleepers so very little sleep which is ashame as everything else was great . I think the back of the building would have been quieter .

• Ecem Elif (3/5): Disappointing accommodation, end with sickness - The staff was helpful and the food in the restaurant was good. The air con was so dusty and dirty, we turned it on the first thing since it was cold at night, the next day we woke up with sore throat and feeling the dust in our throat. Also the kettle at the room was so dirty, we had to ask them to change it and we made tea for our sore throat with using the new one and after we drank the tea we realized even the second one was so dirty as well that the next day our mouth was covered with sores as well. Because we were feeling sick and without turning on the air con the room was so cold, we had to leave the hotel without staying second night even though we paid for two nights.

After hours had to walk around to the front of building to enter as no rear entrance where the car park is. Could be slightly dodgy late at night… Would love some more desk space in the room.

The outside of the hotel is a very bland colour, it could be improved and would look more appealing . Shame there wasn't a slightly nicer view from the windiw

• Jacqueline (10/5): Welcoming clean and well located accommodation. - Mathew was excellent in assisting me with an unusual request. The room was so clean, and bed was just perfect, with no noise throughout the night. Car park complementary at back of property. Nothing. There are no lifts and accommodation is on level 1.
• Colin (9/5): Great location and a great place to stay for a weekend. - Location was amazing and the room whilst small was very comfortable and no noise at all really. Everything was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. We were well aware of the stairs so no problem for us but i guess if you were a little unfit it may be a pain.
• David (7/5): Good location to restaurants strip. - The bed linen was very nice. The guest parking was hit and miss. While they promised parking we had to get someone to move car at one stage. You had to carry bags through restaurant to get to rooms. The shower was in a corner and small and the taps took some fiddling.

The atmosphere and decor is beautiful and comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely be back. The noise/ music from the night-life on Saturday night BUT we were advised of this and it's a small issue over all.

• Aimee (9/5): We would come back again for sure. - Location is very convenient, the room was clean and tidy. The restaurant offers good food. On our 2nd night which is a tuesday night, around 9pm there was a loud machine noise under our room. Like a big dishwasher working, it was annoying because the next day my daughter had an early morning swim comp and it took awhile for her to sleep.

• Dayle (10/5): A golden stay in the goldfields of Victoria. - This was a business trip & a few days beforehand I twisted my ankle badly & I was on crutches. The young man at the reception was very concerned as there was no lift. He offered to move us to another property for our stay. A ground floor unit. Considerably more expensive but he said it was not a problem & he was offering it at the same price. We decided to stay in the room & he rushed to take the bags & carried them up the stairs himself. So helpful. The room was large & well appointed. The bed extremely comfortable with lovely fluffy pillows. It really was a lovely room & when we went downstairs for a drink before dinner, we discovered that all the staff were extremely friendly & courteous. I have travelled extensively and found the team at Oscars to be professional and really lovely young people. It was a pleasure. No lift 😂

• Brian (9/5): Would stay again. - Room was nice, the beds and pillows in particular were very comfy. Wife I actually looked up the pillows to see if we could get a set for ourselves, but they're available only for hospitality customers unfortunately. The atrium/dining area was quite nice, and the building itself has a cool art-deco sort of vibe. Traffic noise from the street was bad at times. The heating setting didn't go quite low enough and heated the room up a bit more than we'd have liked, so would up leaving it off.

• Karen (9/5): Art Deco gem with modern comfort - This was our second stay at Oscars and it was even better than the first. We were upgraded to a king room with a large bathroom overlooking the street. Comfortable, clean and a treat for fans of Art Deco architecture

• Johnston (10/5): I really enjoyed being at Oscar's and would go there again. I recommend it to visitors to Ballarat. - Room was large and comfortable at the front of the hotel, but very quiet. Lovely, spacious bathroom. All the staff members were friendly and more than helpful, carrying my luggage upstairs, giving good service to my room, answering questions and handling arrangements promptly. My pre-booking worked smoothly and everything was as I expected. The service in the cafe and the varied menu were excellent. The on-site parking was very convenient and easy to access. A larger table with two chairs would have been an advantage, especially for meals and room service. A dedicated stand for my luggage would have been easier for me. I had to use the only chair for this purpose.
