• Bert (6/5): We had a great time in Gent but the property could do with a serious maintenance and clean up effort - Location close to the St-Pieters train station and the local tram line nearby was great (2 minute walk, then 10 minutes on the tram to the city centre). There was plenty of room inside, the beds looked new, bed linen and towels provided were clean. On site (off street) parking included in the rental price. We were allowed to park the car earlier on arrival which was nice. Quiet at night. Communication with the host (a company) was all online, quick, friendly and easy. Check-in earliest at 4PM and check-out strictly latest at 10AM we found a bit strict. The keys are in a small locker by the front door, a code was provided at the time of booking but the keys in the locker were blocking the mechanism so we had serious difficulties opening the locker. Outside the property looks nice, however inside it looks a bit old and needs attention. Especially in the kitchen things were not clean, liquid spilled in the fridge, some of it just underneath the fridge door was not a pleasant find. Fridge and freezer are there but very small. For those intending to cook their own meals be aware that apart from a microwave oven and a kettle there's not much available, just one small electric plate that is stored in a cupboard. There was dust and cobwebs everywhere, old painter's masking tape still sticking to the kitchen wall even though it obviously hadn't been painted recently. The door handle to the 2nd room fell out on first use. The bathroom floor needs urgent repair, the laminate is very worn and several sharp bits sticking up around the shower could easily cause injuries. There no ceilings but there are (Velux type) windows in the roof without a means of covering them, so as soon as the sun comes up there's light, also in the bedrooms. The sauna is not really a sauna but an infra-red cabin located in the bathroom (as shown in the pictures). We were just 2 so we had a choice of the 2 bedrooms, but be aware that the bigger bedroom has 2 double beds together in the same room. And from the living/kitchen area one needs to pass through this bigger room to get to the bathroom (toilet is by the front door so no issue there with access/privacy).
