Guest Reviews
- Carly (9/5): Perfect for a weekend getaway - Close to city centre but quiet Steep stairs
- Gregory (10/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): We had a great time staying here, so easy to get to all the main attractions in York and perfect for a family of four. - Fantastic location, comfortable and nicely presented. Nothing
- Corinne (8/5): - Perfect location to discover York. Walkable to everywhere
Easy parking
- Rachel (10/5): - Perfect location
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Megan (9/5): Quiet, comfortable and central. - Quiet place to stay.
Central and able to walk everywhere easily.
Comfortable and clean. A clothes rack to dry clothes would help.
Some light blankets instead of doonas for beds, too hot.
Had to move fragrance bottles outside as I have an asthma allergy to perfumes.
- Rowan (9/5): - Lovely apartment in a good location
- Kayleigh (8/5): - Location
Cleanliness
Cosy setting
Communication
Quiet street Could have been more plates/cups
Curtains in twin room let light in quite a bit.
Frying pan could do with replacing for new.
More coat hangers would be good.
- Jones (10/5): -
- Flear (9/5): - Had everything in there that you needed and didn't have to use the car as everything was in walking distance The cleaners are missing out on some things cob web in the arch way of living room and under the chair had not been hoovered and the extractor above the hob needed cleaning and one of the drawers in the double bedroom had stuff left in there
- Darren (10/5): Cosy place to stay - Lovely clean cozy property , great location for city centre Toilet down stairs but that can’t be helped
- Dirk (9/5): -
- Margret (7/5): -
- Victoria (9/5): A home from home - Cosy, comfortable, incredible location. Would go back in a heartbeat … 👌
- Lynn (10/5): Great time - Location, cleanliness, decor, facilities all great
- Heather (8/5): Nice house in a good location - It’s location
- Christine (8/5): This property was pleasant, clean and close to everything. - Parking was good and the property was in short walking distance to the centre of York. Could have done with a drying rack. The stairs were very steep and the bathroom was downstairs.
- Caroline (9/5): This is a great property.it is very well located we were able to walk everywhere that we wanted to go to - The location was great. It was a very easy walk into town. The street was quiet with easy parking right at the front door. We were a group of 4 adults. We did find this property a little on the small side. It is probably better suited to 2 adults and 2 children rather than 4 adults.
- Jacqui (10/5): I would use the property again if ever I visit York, it was great. - Location was great, so easy to walk into the town. Having the parking permit was also great, made parking right outside the priority easy.
- Justina (10/5): A great stay in Buckingham Street - would recommend it to friends and family - The location was amazing - so close to the city centre but in a quiet road so wasn't disturbed. A lovely well appointed 2 bedroom house. Clean and comfy - would recommend. The bathroom being downstairs
- Ryan (9/5): Clean, comfortable property. - The property was very clean, the pictures are a good representation. The property is very close to the city centre. All in all a very pleasant stay. The heating system stopped on our last night which meant no showers/cold showers before we checked out. They extended our check out time so we could be ready for our return home.
- Nigel (8/5): Will definitely recommend this place because it's just about 5 min away from the centre. - Close to city centre, quiet. Parking was a struggle- not much space where to park. Bathroom was very cold even with the heating on.
- Kayleigh (10/5): Comfortable and charming home, loved it! - Absolutely loved this place! It was so charming and has been thoughtfully furnished.
Excellent location, parking available on the road (permit is provided to guests) but we didn't have a vehicle.
Plenty of space for our family of 4, bedrooms were nicely decorated, plenty of warm covers for our winter stay.
Welcome pack had lots of useful information, we had no issues throughout our stay.
Kitchen provisions were extensive, I was impressed!
We walked to the accommodation from the train station with a suitcase each, and it was a straight forward walk.
Would definitely recommend this accommodation and happily stay here again! Thank you! Wasn't an issue for us, but stairs were very steep and stepped down right outside bedroom doors. A consideration for families with younger children perhaps, or anyone who may find stairs difficult.
Not a negative point for the property though, it's what these homes are built like.
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Susanna (8/5): Lovely property in great location - Fabulous location, quiet in the evening, but just an 8-10m walk into the heart of York. Free parking was available too. House was nicely decorated and felt cosy and welcoming. Access worked well. The agency kindly extended our checkout by 2 hours when requested due to the threat of snow . They also provided oven gloves at our request and came to help get the electric fire in the living room working. Storage in main bedroom for clothes was excellent. I would stay here again. I hadn't realised the bathroom was downstairs, not sure that was clear on property description. Road of house allows parking both sides which is great for more spaces, but extremely tight to drive down, just cms available on each side if you have a large vehicle. Only 2 dishwasher tabs and 2 toilet rolls were left for our stay of 5 days for a family of 4. I requested more, but was told as this was a self catering property, no more would be supplied. Strict definition of self catering means property provides facilities for client to make their own food, not about toilet paper or being able to wash up appropriately. It wouldn't cost them much to leave out a few more and avoid our inconvenience.
- Rhian (8/5): Lovely cosy base to stay to explore York- would definitely stay here again. - It was lovely. Had everything you needed and was really close to everything. It was great - can’t complain about anything to be fair
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Marianne (8/5): The house is lovely and cosy and very clean. - Very clean and comfortable. Great location for York Centre The fire in lounge didn’t work. The dishwasher didn’t work. The extractor fan in kitchen didn’t work. The toaster didn’t pop up so quite dangerous.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susannah (6/5): Good location but some practical points need to be addressed - Good location, 10 minutes' walk from station and close to bus routes and Parliament Street in the centre of York.
Once repaired the heating worked well, but we had disruption over the installation of a new boiler on our first two days.
This is a pleasant small house to stay in but there were several areas that could be improved, many very easy (and inexpensive) to fix.
Mostly very quiet. There was no door mat, no washing-up bowl, no stacker for draining board.
The clock didn’t work, the breadknife was scarcely useable, really poor quality.
The notes referred to a DVD player being available but this has vanished. Why have the notes for visitors not been updated?
Only one thin tea towel was provided; on the first day we arrived there were two but someone must have come in on the following day and taken one of them away, which was a nuisance as the towel dried some three items before being too wet to dry more. The York Stays notes referred to a tea towel drawer but there was none.
We did not expect to have to buy loo roll. Why not keep a store in the house?
Any chance you could put in a shelf above the sink in the bathroom?
The chairs around the table were uncomfortable and too low for sitting to eat at the table (unless perhaps for anyone over 6 foot tall).
A good spring clean is required to clear the dirt and cobwebs in corners and behind the radiators.
- John (10/5): Two wonderful weeks stay in York - Excellent property, exactly as described and within easy walking distance of all York's attractions. We all enjoyed our time here and without a doubt the house contributed a significant part of this. Recommending this property to anyone enquiring about it would be an automatic YES.
- Allison (9/5): Lovely clean apartment very near to town, local attractions, shops and restaurants - Cleanliness and location superb. I think the narrow and steep staircase should be pointed out on website as my friend who has mobility issues struggled a bit with the staircase and they may not suit everyone if they are likewise or have other mobility issues. Other than that everything else was superb and would return with my partner or recommend to others but unfortunately my friend would not return.
- Janis (9/5): We had a brilliant time and plan to return. - Location was brilliant, only minutes walk from centre
Parking was outside door and free
House was well furnished, well equipped and clean No shelves for 4 wash bags in bathroom
No hand towel in bathroom
No oven gloves in kitchen
No board games or playing cards for children
- Daryl (9/5): Excellent stay 7 Buckingham St York - Excellent location, parking outside, value for money, very clean and don't to high spec. I have mobility issues so for me, having a downstairs toilet was quite challenging.
- Dr. (7/5): Good -
- Steven (9/5): Superb - Having a garden at the back was very good
The walking shower was excellent
- Linda (8/5): Comfortable property in a central location -
- Rachel (10/5): Short stay to attend work conference in York - Clean and comfortable
Beds were so comfortable with quality bedding.
WiFi
Parking.
Great central location Everything was perfect
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alison (10/5): Fabulous property in a perfect location close to the centre of York. - It had everything we needed & the furniture was good quality. If anything, it was that the bathroom was downstairs, but it didn’t spoil our stay.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (8/5): Very good - Great little property, very well looked after with everything we needed. Perfect location close to Centre. Only thing that was a negative would be the parking in a very narrow street. Couldn't park directly outside the property due nor being able to squeeze between parked cars.
- Anita (9/5): Superb - Great location and size Noisy neighbours but appreciate this can happen anywhere, more facilities could be provides for a group of 4.
- Nicholas (8/5): Brilliant location for a family of 4 to have a city break in York - Location, amenities, value for money Heating was too high and couldnt work out how to adjust. Broadband connection flaky needs a BT engineer.
- David (9/5): Lovely place, great location. - Location is great. Nicely finished. Little welcome pack on arrival. Only one key, and we could have done with two.
- Roseann (9/5): Townhouse situated in a convenient location. - Great location, 5 minutes walk from the center of York and all the sights. The bathroom was on the ground floor behind the kitchen. Spider webs on the ceilings.
- Sheetal (8/5): Very good - The location was lovely. The house was also lovely. It was absolutely lovely. They need a clothes drying rack. Otherwise perfect
- Sharon (9/5): Heart of York - Charming apartment. Very convenient location. Easy access. Comfortable beds. Some issues when we arrived but they were quickly resolved.
- Gillian (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (10/5): Brilliant location, lovely house - Brilliant location, lovely house Bathroom could do with a good mould clean
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (9/5): Superb - The fact it was close enough to the center to be quiet at night, but not to close
- Brett (10/5): Exceptional - What a fantastic location well within walking distance to town and a beautiful home Nothing
- Abigail (10/5): a wonderful cosy clean house, with comforting touches, right by the Walls, & very close to some delicious breakfast! - it was very comfortable, and a home away from home. the whole house was very clean, and well presented. Lovely little touches, in the kitchen there was a sealed bag with dishwasher/washing machine tablets, on the table there was a welcome hamper, with shortbread, coffee, tea chocolate & other lovely treats! The LOCATION is absolutely incredible, we didn’t use the car once! parked up outside and everything was in walking distance, 8 mins. The property is very warm, and also we were able one night to increase the heat as extra cold, all explained in the welcome book! it was a very difficult time of year for us, and this property was just what we needed. N/A
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Audrey (7/5): Good -
- Melinda (9/5): Nice accommodation in great location - Excellent location just short walk into centre of town and close to everything. Parking on street in front of accommodation. The House is lovely and very nicely set up with everything you need. Highly recommended Nothing. It was all great
- Karen (9/5): Quiet street but just minutes from city centre. - Great location. Comfy beds. Welcome pack very nice! Previous renters left dirty mugs in the cupboard.
- Benitta (10/5): absolutely perfect - location was fantastic and the parking was a bonus nothing
- Chloe (10/5): Comfy house in a brilliant location. - This property was modern, clean and tidy. The little welcome hamper was very much appreciated. The best thing was the location. It is in a quiet street but you walk out of the door and are straight into the city centre. Perfect! If i really had to think of a negative i'd say the pillows weren't that comfy. Thicker pillows would have helped. However the beds themselves were really comfy!
