• Ines (6/5): Estancia en Mad Monkey - Localización, pie de playa Entendemos que es un hostel, pero en las habitaciones privadas no cambian toallas ni basuras ni reponen papel higiénico como si hacen en las comunes. Servicio de bar lento. Vimos gente bastante mayor (+40) para ser un youth/party hostel.
• Julia (8/5): - The location is amazing!! The waterfront privates have great views. Can step straight into the beach. The privates have AC and a large ensuite. Good social activities every night to meet other travellers. Loved the little foot wash at the door to keep sand out. The rooms are getting old, there's no mosquito net and they can get into the room easily. This is a party hostel, if you want to party it's great, if you want any sleep before midnight, this is not the place for you. I understand check-in is at 14.00 but atleast check to see if the bed or room is empty. It's not difficult to allow someone to check in an hour earlier if the room is ready. Staff didn't even ask what room I was in, just said come back at 14.00. Bed linen is old, needs replacing. Need more sunbeds. The location and party scene saves this place!

• Kim Lavrijsen (5/5): Matig - Lekker dichtbij de haven en de drukte. De hele dag door is er van alles te doen, super leuk! Het eten is lekker. Personeel staat klaar om je te helpen. Fijn om toch bij een hostel te kunnen slapen, maar dan wel een eigen ruimte te hebben. Bij aankomst gaven we aan via booking.com contact te hebben gezocht omdat we een dag eerder wilde uitchecken. Annuleren en opnieuw boeken was namelijk duurder dan de huidige boeking te laten staan. De receptie gaf aan niets te kunnen betekenen, dus hebben we betaald voor een nacht maar geen gebruik van kunnen maken. We hebben 2 dagen een lekkende airco gehad waardoor er meerdere handdoeken nodig waren om dit te drogen. Bij de receptie gevraagd of we nieuwe handdoeken mochten, deze waren er niet altijd. Meermaals het kaartje 'clean my room' opgehangen, maar de kamer werd niet schoongemaakt. Bij navraag bij de receptie zou dit geregeld worden. Dit is uiteindelijk soms wel en soms niet gebeurd. De douchkop liet los van de slang waardoor we niet konden douchen, dit in de ochtend aangeven bij de receptie en ze zouden dit regelen. Na een stranddag kwamen we terug om lekker te douchen, maar toen was dit nog steeds niet gemaakt...
• Janice (6/5): Dirty and loud and would not ever go back - The location isn’t too bad. The private rooms are essentially falling apart. The front door is not sealed whatsoever, so the amount of mosquitoes in the room is insane. The bathroom is dingy with the shower head right in front of the toilet and not partitioned, which is gross to me. The toilet leaked every time it was flushed. Additionally, the bed sheets and blanket where DIRTY. Hair and stains that looked like drool. Absolutely disgusting. I would never stay there again, especially for that price.

• Keep flighting (10/5): Best hostel with friendly Staff - Spent nearly 1 weeks on this beautiful Island and stayed at Mad Monkey! Great value for money, excellent service and the facilities were also good! Staff were all so friendly and helpful and really made us feel welcome during our stay - especially Key, Thida, and Somphos who always presented us with excellent checking in and friendly service. Beds were comfy, rooms were spacious and there was plenty of comfortable seating on the beach front where you could enjoy a drink or dinner with the stunning views. Would 100% recommend this place and will definitely be coming back soon!

• Elleah (8/5): Would recommend! - We really enjoyed our stay here! The rooms were spacious and beds were comfy. Right on the beach which was stunning! Food was good and there was always something fun going on in the evening. We met some great people, and the staff were lovely- special shoutout to the rep Rosie who went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a good time. The showers were cold
• Taeloni (6/5): - The facilities were fine. The staff was very kind and very attentive . They were very nice. The distance from the beach was perfect. You can walk right out and go straight to the beach so the views were amazing. The only downside was that the bed was extremely uncomfortable and that the power will go out every once in a while so it will get pretty hot in the room if you were staying in there, I got sick for a few days and had to stay bedridden so that affected the stay.

• Keep flighting (10/5): Best hostel and friendly staff - Just checked out from my accomodation and I really loved this place, the location is perfect right across from long set beach and only a 1 min walk from the boat pier and right next to beach, The rooms were extremely clean and spacious, and the shared bathrooms were also very cleaned and cleaned regularly by the workers. The staff there are very friendly and talkative they help me the best as they can especially Mr KEY and Ms Phorn at the frontdest they are really helpful❤️️. I feel although I had to take a star away for the food options as my meals were quite dry and flavourless, however other then that I would highly recommend this hostel :) Nothing at all.

Wifi didn't reach our room and the overall signal was very poor there so pretty much we had to go to the lobby to use the internet.

• Lewis (10/5): The best week of my life. I want to thank all the staff at Mad Monkey for being a huge reason I loved this so much! - The property had super friendly staff (special mention Louise). We were there for Christmas and they made it amazing, there were so many activities available for us to do each day, I couldn’t recommend it more!! The best! There was nothing I didn’t like, extended my stay when I was there because I loved it so much, and so did everyone else! Mad monkey and Koh Rong are both AMAZING!

• Julian (6/5): Nice location, bad smell that could kill - Good location, tasty food, friendly atmosphere. The smell from the toilet, one sniff makes your stomach in pain, even the staff couldn’t stand this out. Closing the toilet door doesn’t help much, it was too intensive. We fixed it by enveloping the whole closet with a food stretching foil. Internet was not stable, quite bad if you are planning any work including video calls.

Impossible dormire prima della mezzanotte / una l. Questo tutte le sere.. Sei lettini in croce sulla spiaggia. Non capisco perché non vendano le camere solo ai minori di 25 anni. Neanche due sedie nella veranda del bungalow

• Elin (4/5): - Great location! Free drinking water! Female dorms same price as mixed! Unclean toilets and beds very worn out and the dorms felt quite rundown. They were often out of towels and the staff in reception weren’t friendly at all, especially one younger woman who was extremely slow and rude. For example she wouldn’t accept a 20 dollar bill because it had a stain, when I explained that she was the one that gave it to me in change earlier that day she just told me that she doesn’t have any change and I have to pay by card (I was only supposed to get 3$ in change so I highly doubt she didn’t have that).

• Megan Corcoran (4/5): Wouldn't stay again - The food was nice in the hostel. The beds were clean. The staff were absolutely overrun! When I arrived, there was about 30 people waiting at the bar, and only 2 people behind it! The lady checking us in was also very overwhelmed. There are no chill-out spaces available, except on the beach (perfect until it rains), and the music was very loud at all times in the main space, you could barely have a conversation, even at 9am! The room was extremely noisy, and so overpriced given the amount of people in the room. The room was messy and covered in sand (more so a reflection on dirty roommates, but wasn't swept during visit). The top bunks are such a mission to climb down from, they are so so high. The spamming on Booking.com messages is completely inappropriate, and so annoying!!!! There is no unsubscribe button?? Not the place to send constant nonsense, so distasteful. Basically, there are so many beautiful places to stay on this island, and next time I will be staying at one of those.

No toilet paper in the bathroom, we were there for 4 nights and they didnt refill the toilet paper. They put men in the female only doorms because "there was no room". The workers are not very nice and they charge service fee at the restaurant even though you go and order at the bar and take your food from the bar. I asked for take away and they asked me 1000 riel for take away fee. They take money wherever they can and do not give much in return. Also the dj sucked at the Halloween party
• Liraz (1/5): - The guests that were at the hostel. That's it. No toilet paper for days, no hot water ever As in no hot water tap- just use the shower with the cold water that is available. The sewage water came up several times and caused a horrible smell. My bedsheets felt overused and had several stains on them. My friend got injured, and they had 0 help with getting her a lower bed, so she had to climb up every time. They didn't have towels available all the time, and people started hoarding them. The bedroom door was squeaking like crazy every time anyone came in/out. The DJ at the halloween party sucked and just left the station with the same song playing for about 7 minutes. They put guys into girls only rooms bc there was no more beds at the mixed dorms- instead of not taking their money bc there is no room- they would rather force a girl who paid for a girls only room to share a dorm with guys. The charges at the restaurant were sooo inflated, adding a service charge for an order and pickup at the bar.

• Chapman (10/5): It was incredible - I had a walk in book in and from the moment me and my granny arrived we felt so welcomed and we appreciated the ease of checking in and the support after a long day of travelling. The general manager Marcus was so accommodating constantly checking in and making sure everything was ok he really made our experience so much better. There were events on each night all of which were fully enjoyed and it gave us the perfect opportunity to meet new friends. I loved this stay would 100% come back again. No problems

• Ingrid (6/5): Overall, I was quite disappointed. - The location is very good The hostel doesn’t organize activities to help guests meet each other (unlike, for example, Mad Monkey Hoi An). Additionally, activities on the island are relatively more expensive than in other destinations. It’s advisable to check and compare prices with local providers, as they are often more affordable than booking directly with the hostel.

• Irvine (10/5): Amazing atmosphere in a great beachside location! - Great atmosphere with extremely friendly staff. Events were on every day and there was always something to do. Amazing reps and helpful staff made this a must go destination. The beachside location was amazing as well, only being a couple minute walk away from the ferry stop. Completely out of the hostels control but poor weather meant we couldn’t do everything we wanted. That being said, the bar/communal area was a great place to shelter from the downpours.

• Michael (5/5): Partyhostel - If you’re looking for a party hostel, this place might suit you. They are organising events every night. I accidentally booked this party hostel, thinking it would be a good place to connect with others. But the atmosphere was not what I expected at all. At check-in, the staff at the bar barely acknowledged me—no greeting, just dropped the paperwork without eye contact. When I asked about tours, the staff couldn’t speak English and instead jokingly offered something unrelated, then walked away laughing. The room wasn’t clean (there was a large stain on the bed and something white moving on it), and the WiFi didn’t work in the room. Official quiet hours are between 12 AM and 7 AM, but music was still playing at 1:30 AM—and already blasting again by 6:50 AM, so you can “enjoy” vibrating along to the bass from your bed. If you’re looking for a party hostel, this place might suit you. But if you’re hoping for genuine connection without the party scene—or simply want a bit of peace and quiet—I strongly recommend booking elsewhere.

Food at the restaurant and cocktaiks don't taste good and they are super expensive compared to others in the same island. The staff was neither helpful nor informative. Rooms were okay, but full of mosquitos.

Beds are super uncomfortable, curtains only reach a certain point so light can still come in and people can still see you. Bathrooms are also not ideal just super small, the plumbing needs to be sorted as brown water would always come out when using shower and sink. Not ideal.

• Reena (6/5): Great location - but facilities aren’t fantastic - Great atmosphere and location. However, extremely expensive (the price increases when more people stay there), especially for the quality of the rooms. There was sand everywhere and gaps in the doors meant there were a lot of mosquitoes in the rooms. The beds didn’t feel very clean and unfortunately woke up with so many bites. The shared bathrooms were quite dirty and the orange water was quite off putting. However, the staff were great and created a really fun atmosphere during the evening events.

• Vincent (1/5): Never again - The men’s shower had water pressure that was too low to shower properly, and the showers were located in the same cabin as the toilet. I also found bedbugs in my bed. The bed sheets felt more like couch covers than proper bedding, and the mattress was saggy and worn out. The food and breakfast were overpriced. The only positive was the staff, who were friendly and helpful.

I did, right at the check in desk by a Brit receptionist 🙂. There’re lots of local hostels around the island which charge cheaper and staffs are much nicer. This is going to be my first and last time with Mad Monkey!
