- Diehl (4/5): Okay, but any impression of a personal experience is false. I would like my 30 extra euros back. - The location is not in a tourist area and the apartment is in a traditional apartment building giving us the feeling of actually living there. It had the amenities described. It seemed to be a safe area and we were able to wander out for pizza as a family upon arrival without any troubles or feeling uncomfortable. Women were out alone after dark walking their dogs so we felt safe too. We were charged 30 extra euros for checking in after 7 pm. I paid without hesitating because I was given the impression we would be met and helped into the building and with any questions we might have regarding the area. Instead I was instructed to sign onto my email for instruction to get in ourselves. I struggled to make sense of these instructions after a long flight while standing in front of the building. The apartment was a walk up and with the bags another set of hands would have been amazing too. It was a stress I thought I had paid extra to not have to deal with - there was also lots of back and forth on our exact arrival - wanting to know flight numbers and airlines. I would rather not have taken the time to provide these given no person helped us. We were greeted by a computer. Why did we pay extra? A staff member was available by text when the taxi driver had questions about the exact address…. I don’t think that wss worth it.
The shower is tiny and has a facet most appropriate for a sink than a shower. It was easy to turn off by leaning against it by accident. It could probably be made hot by accident really quickly too. It should be changed.
We were locked out of the unit at exactly 10 am. I had written my contact to ask about a late check out and with no response I gambled and chanced it. We arrived at about 10:30 am to a locked door and expired code. I called and called to get help to get in to collect our luggage. After about 20, 30 minutes my calls were finally answered and the door was opened remotely after I promised to not stay. We grabbed our packed bags and left immediately.
Overall, check in and check out we’re both challenging and proved we may have been better off in a more traditional hotel. We would not have had to struggle in the ways we did, pay more for “late” check in and been able to talk to a person - in person. The cost would probably have been about the same too and the shower better, for sure.
