Guest Reviews
- Amanda (10/5): - Chris and his family were wonderfully accommodating, making our stay feel like a true getaway for my husband, son, and me. They were fantastic with kids from various families staying there and it was lovely to see how much they enjoyed getting to know each other and playing together. From the cosy lounge room and delicious meals to the relaxing sauna and smooth transfers to the chairlift and Perisher terminal, nothing was ever too much trouble.
A special mention to Matt, the chef, who was absolutely fantastic; the food was a real highlight. What stood out most was Chris's genuine warmth; it truly felt like we were being welcomed as friends or family. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
- David (10/5): It was the perfect ski holiday experience - The food was absolutely amazing and cooked fresh every day by a wonderful chef, the place was perfectly located and the family atmosphere around the lodge made it a pleasure to stay at. We had an amazing time and will certainly be back next season.

The lodge has a warm, comfortable atmosphere and great character. Matt's food was excellent - we enjoyed working through the menu options across our stay. We have booked again for next year. Thank you Chris!

- John (10/5): Best On-Snow you will find! - Peer Gynt offers a unique family-run lodge experience next to the Interceptor Quad, with pick-up from Perisher Ski Tube and on-site transport. Led by owner Chris and his team, guests enjoy cooked breakfasts and à la carte dinners (included), plus a paid cocktail and wine list. It's an ideal hassle-free option for those seeking comfortable on-snow accommodation.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Whyte (10/5): Absolutely beautiful experience. - The property was beautiful and so close to the chairlift. The people there were amazing and gave great service both staff and other guest it is the perfect place to make you feel at home while you are so far away from home. Honestly so grateful for the experience, it was a trip of a lifetime, even though it was short. Nothing
- Brett (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (10/5): Cosy, amazing hospitality, friendly and delicious food ! - Wow !!! Thanks you so much Chris, Lucy, Olivia, Kai and chef for a wonderful and memorable week in the snow. You all went out of your way to make the trip easy and fun. From pick ups to gear repairs, you didn’t hesitate to help. The best hospitality I have received in Australia. The teens didn’t ever want to leave.
Thank you - it is a trip we will never forget. Cath Nothing
- John (9/5): Really comfortable and welcoming stay - Traditional chalet where Chris, his family and the rest of the staff all make you feel very welcome.
Warm and comfortable with a lovely lounge area with wood fire and bar and great games/pool room and sauna.
Food was awesome and a number of different choices daily.
Great advice on ski areas and daily drop off and pick up Nothing really springs to mind.
- Sarjeet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xiaoqian (10/5): Great place, fantastic hosts! - The view from the room is wonderful, and all the staff including Chris/Mat/Lucy/Olivia have been so friendly and wonderful. Three-course dinner is delicious; once we even had main first, then evening skiing, followed by dessert when we returned to the lodge. We enjoyed the North Perisher black run directly back to the lodge. My girls especially loved the video games, toboggans and evening marshmallows. Will surely return in the near future. From Dr Wang and Prof Gilchrist. Nothing.
- Maria (10/5): A cozy, unforgettable stay made truly special by the incredibly warm and accommodating staff. - I can’t say enough good things about our experience at this ski lodge. From the moment we arrived, Chris went out of his way to make us feel welcome, comfortable, and completely taken care of, even though we arrived very late at night. Whether it was helping us sort out our gear, recommending the best local slopes for our skill levels, or making sure we make the most of our stay—they were always one step ahead and genuinely happy to help.
It wasn’t just the professionalism that stood out, it was the warmth. Every staff member we encountered—from Chris to the ladies to the chef—treated us like more than just guests. They checked in on how our day was going, and even made thoughtful little adjustments to make our stay smoother (like offering a snow ride and letting us leave our luggages in their snow vehicle so we can enjoy one full day after check out).
The lodge itself was cozy, clean, and had all the charm you’d want in a mountain retreat, but it was the people who made it exceptional. Their level of care and attentiveness turned a great ski trip into a truly memorable experience.
If you’re looking for a place where you’re treated like family while enjoying world-class skiing and relaxing accommodations, this is it. We’ll definitely be back—and we’ll be recommending this lodge to everyone we know!
PS the food was awesome!
- Liv (10/5): This lodge has such a lovely feel to it - we absolutely loved our stay. - The location of Peer Gynt was perfect for us as we were keen on somewhere that was away from the crowds but also where you could ski in and out. We loved the lounge area where you could catch up with others or read a book by yourself, as well as the sauna and games room downstairs. The family room was a great size for 2 adults and 2 children. Chris and his family run team can’t do enough to help you, and the meals are superb. They also constantly shared their info on where to ski on the mountain.
- Stuart (9/5): Superb -
- Dp (10/5): Unforgettable experience for me and my daughters. - Absolutely everything.
- Graham (10/5): Can’t wait to come back! - Our return visit to Peer Gynt was just as good as our first. A great family atmosphere in an excellent location close to Interceptor chair lift. Warm and friendly owner and staff who made us feel very much at home. Morning and afternoon shuttles to Front Valley and Skitube. Excellent dinner and breakfast.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional stay — highly recommended! Our family had the most wonderful holiday - Exceptional stay — highly recommended!
Our family had the most wonderful holiday at Peer Gynt Ski Lodge. From the moment we arrived, Chris, Mia, Olivia, Chef Ben and Kai made us feel so welcome — they are truly lovely people, friendly, considerate and always happy to help with anything.
The rooms were warm, cosy and very comfortable. The food was absolutely outstanding — genuinely worthy of a Michelin Star — and the wine list was excellent, with a carefully selected range from well-known estates that perfectly matched the meals.
The lodge has breathtaking views, a gorgeous lounge with a fireplace, a relaxing sauna, and a fun games room with a pool table and arcade machine. Our kids had an amazing time and were always entertained.
The ski-in, ski-out access is fantastic — just a short ski to the T-bar or a quick shuttle ride in the Can-Am, which made us feel like VIPs!
We can’t thank the team enough for creating such a special family memory for us. We would return in a heartbeat and can’t recommend Peer Gynt Ski Lodge highly enough!

- Robert (10/5): If you’re thinking of somewhere else, this IS the place to stay - PERFECT! - Perfect location, near lifts, but outside of central Perisher. Rooms are roomy, and even have a bath which is great after a long day - then throw in a great lounge area and downstairs pool and games room AND a sauna! The food was the best I’ve had in decades! But what stood out was the beautiful people and staff that ran the place, would do anything for you and just genuinely really nice people. Definitely going back! Wouldn’t change a thing, my partner and I came home and said that was the break we needed and they made it perfect!
- Julie (10/5): The perfect short break 😁 - Such a lovely homely feel, the staff were all beautiful and super helpful. The food and wine were delicious!
- Sam (10/5): It was a great experience - The rooms and lodge were very clean and well kept. It was warm and cosy. Staff were pleasant and were very accomodating, making us feel at home. Food was great. Overall I was very impressed and hope to stay there again next snow season.
- George (10/5): Spring 2024: no snow, no worries - Even if I wrote an 1000 word essay, it wouldn't be enought o cover how amazing Peer Gynt is. Shane and the team made sure that we wouldn't let the deterioting conditions ruin our trip. From pick up, settling in, apres, dinner, post dinner fun, breakfast and drop of, we were cared for and so well accommodated that I would have no issue booking again even if all the snow disappeared again.
Perfect facilities for ski in and out (unfortunately not much snow in spring 2024) including drying room and sauna. Wonderful bar with great collection of wines, dinners that makes you happy to skip night skiing for and a breakfast buffet that makes you happy to skip a sleep in.
The rooms were warm and with beds for for 5 star hotels. Showers consistently warm and clean.
The whole lodge is very adorable and makes you feel like you are in somewhere special. TV had Foxtel for those unable to miss footy.
Thanks again for a wonderful stay and we will be sure to book again! Absolutely nothing.
- Sally-ann (10/5): Peaceful homely safe and friendly - Quaint clean homely and friendly Update on carpets and fly screens but otherwise clean and stable.
- Mona (10/5): Exceptional - We recently had an amazing two-night stay at the Peer Gynt Ski Lodge in Perisher Valley with our family, and it exceeded all our expectations. The Lodge's location is perfect for skiing and enjoying various snow activities. The accommodations were clean, warm, and incredibly welcoming. The food was top-notch, and the friendly staff made us feel right at home, creating a safe and cozy atmosphere.
The Lodge offers fantastic amenities, including
an entertainment room with a billiard table and a cocktail arcade game machine, a relaxing sauna, and a cozy lounge with a fireplace, TV, and plenty of board games like Monopoly and card games to enjoy.
Shane was in touch with us from the moment we made our booking, ensuring our smooth arrival by picking us up from the train station and providing complimentary transportation between the ski resort and the Lodge daily. Karen was also wonderful, offering us lots of support throughout our stay.
We can't wait to return and experience another fantastic time at the Lodge. Thank you, Shane and Karen, for making our stay so special!

- Dave (10/5): Found my happy snowy place - I swear they're not paying me to say this. LOL. I paid them to stay there. Still - Peer Gynt reminded me of the places we used to stay as kids, where everyone knew each other. I went up there alone, and within one night I felt I knew everyone, and I actually did. It's a family vibe, but not like "family", as in kids and stuff (but I'm sure they'd be happy), but extended everyone family. Like - we're Australians that like snow and that's kind of mental but it's what unites us.
It's legit snowbound. Not like some hotel on the edge of the snow. I skied DOWN to it on my first day. There are snowcats available from Perisher terminal too. I woke up every day looking out on an absolute wilderness that if I wildered/wandered into I knew I would be dead within hours. That's a fun thing to do from your nice warm room. Makes you think about the benefits of double glazing and the cleverness of not wandering about in the snow at night for no reason.
The North Perisher T is there, and you can ski down to Interceptor from there. Honestly, probs for intermediate skiers, but for beginners and people with lessons etc. they're happy to drop you at Perisher in the morning. I didn't like it when I messed up my arm. But that was a snowboarder getting in my line, nothing to do with the lodge people.
Honestly, saw a couple of comments about the hot water - it was fine for me. No complaints at all.
- Jessie (10/5): A lovely, comfortable & convenient stay for a weekend away on the snow. - The hospitality of the staff and convenient location. Shane was very helpful and friendly. He gave us great advice and was flexible with our drop offs and pick ups. He was also very responsive with our communication leading up to our stay and during. Not having a larger bin in the room.
- William (9/5): Superb -
- Jaydene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glenn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keegan (10/5): Exceptional - Karen and Shane as well as all staff were exceptional! Made it a great experience for us and will definitely be back. The lodge was in a great location at the bottom of the slopes with easy access to blue cow as well as front valley, pretty valley, etc.
Food was outstanding and the wine list was extensive.
The lodge has a fire place in the main lounge room as well as a sauna and pool table downstairs so always something to do
- Jerrad (9/5): Superb - Chris Maiya Shane Karen and staff were amazing so welcoming for the family, stayed here with two young boys first snow experience and the staff helped make their experience more special Tempurature of hot water
- Jeanmay (10/5): Exceptional - The service was beyond what we expected. Very friendly staff. Shane was very helpful. Location was great. Dinner was also fantastic . Nothing
