• Yang (1/5): Horrid stay in a filthy shared apartment - I booked a stay here for 6 nights and found the property in a state of squalor. The host’s last-minute efforts to prepare the room for my arrival were a sorry excuse for the gross mismanagement of his property. I would like to draw attention to these few points in particular: 1. Bedsheets and pillowcases were clearly not washed before my arrival. The bedding stank of body odour and it is clear that no cleaning had been done for a significant period of time. 2. Furnishings in the room were not as advertised. The desk was missing, which I needed for work was missing and I had to request a chair from the host, which was funnily enough, taken from an adjacent room with guests staying inside! 3. The kitchen was absolutely filthy. There were onions stuck in the toaster, rotting food in the cabinets and dust everywhere on the floor. Flies swarmed everywhere. The cabinets were falling apart. 4. The toilet floor was cracked and plumbing was exposed. It was impossible to shower when the taps only issued scalding hot water. 5. Contrary to the description of the property, there is nothing exclusive nor luxurious in a lodging barely fit for human habitation. The host has rented out 3 other rooms in the same apartment to different guests, who made their presence known very emphatically during my stay. As for the luxury in his apartment, he even converted the living room into a guest room, denying his guests even the simple luxury of eating food on a proper dining table instead of sharing it with the flies in his kitchen. Lastly I must draw attention to the duplicitous conduct of the host. Despite being very aware of the unserviceable state of his property, and despite knowing that he was unable to furnish my room, he has willingly accepted my booking for 6 days (out of motivations I do not care to probe further).
