Guest Reviews
- scott (4/5): Promised much but delivered little - Room was very small! - was meant to be de luxe king size. En suite was a cupboard with a sliding door- too small to have a proper door. No where to even put a toothbrush ! No space for furniture in room. So very disappointed
- Helen (9/5): Nice overnight stay. - Small but comfy room with good facilities. Friendly and attentive staff. A bit of traffic noise
- Christine (4/5): -
- Paul (8/5): -
- Laura (10/5): Fabulous comfortable place to stay with delicious food! - We liked everything about it! A lovely B&B with everything you need including homely extras in your room (coffee machine, radio, bathrobes, eye masks, ear plugs).
We booked a table for dinner too which was delicious.
Breakfast was continental but very tasty.
Highly recommend. Nothing

- Claire (10/5): -
- Claire (9/5): Welcoming, friendly, clean and delicious continental breakfast. Staff hospitality just great. - Quirky and lovingly restored property. Nothing it was all great, had to park on the high street as on-site parking very limited.
- Moira (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay at the Print House and everyone was incredibly helpful . - Staff were very warm and welcoming. Food was excellent. Old building full of character & history, but unfortunately the traffic noise did impact our sleep.
- Brendan (9/5): Excellent all round. - Great rooms and facilities, the owner was a lovely lady who couldn't do enough for you.
Lovely continental breakfast served. Parking was very limited but the owner knew where there was additional parking close by.
- Professor Bob (9/5): Quirky characterful hotel with helpful staff - Very friendly and engaging staff. Made an effort to provide vegan options at breakfast and dinner. Very big bed in one room and lovely walk in shower in the other. Three parking spaces immediately outside hotel. Cosy courtyard at back. Local beers on tap and good range of wine. Quirky character, history and steep narrow staircase creates a magical atmosphere. It’s on a busy corner but we quite liked the sound of life whizzing past outside - and earplugs easily block out noise at night. Vegan breakfast was very good with falafel, tofu strips, vegan croissants. Window blinds in smaller room needed a clean. Bath in the bigger room was a beautiful sight but fairly difficult to use. They had an agency chef on for dinner who made an effort to offer an extra option but it was so salty it wasn’t particularly enjoyable. The cauliflower option was more ‘florets’ than steak.
- Olivia (10/5): 10/10 recommend to anyone!! - The owner (i think she was the owner) was so so lovely and it was overall an amazing experience! Food was amazing and the location was perfect for Chapel down! Not alot of parking options on site but there is loads of parking facilities nearby

- Emma (6/5): Comfortable but not good value for money. - Very clean and cosy bedroom , lots of character. We weren’t able to get any hot water and there was no solution to fix this looking at other reviews this seems to be the norm . Unfortunately for a b&b it’s a vital part. It’s not value for money. The breakfast inc was a continental unless you ordered specifically a hot breakfast the night before , we were out the night before and wasn’t able to order , and there was no flexibility in this. The following morning evry other guests was eating hot food , we were not able to or even offered despite clearly the chef being in. It was noisy which wasn’t too much of a problem for us and we half expected it to be as about the bar and on a main road. They also have ear plugs in room - but it would have been nice to been given a heads up .
- Louise (9/5): -
- Kevan (7/5): Good quality but price not justified by room size or breakfast. - Really tasteful modernisation of room with fab walk-in shower. Cosy lounge, friendly professional service and convenient online check in & out. Bedroom very small for the price with no hanging space or hooks but only hanging area in bathroom corridor. Very little bedside surface for phone to be placed. At £185 I expected their biggest room. English breakfast was rather small and basic and an extra charge of £14 (very expensive for a similar quality small hotel). Parking is very limited.
- Kelly (8/5): -
- Katharyn (9/5): - very friendly staff and great food.
- Gareth (9/5): A charming romantic stay in a beautiful very old building in a delightful historic town. - This is a charming boutique hotel in a very pretty Kent town. The restaurant is lovely and the service was great and we felt very well looked after. There was a log fire in our room (the Author’s Suite) and a vast and comfortable bed, plus a fun copper bath. A good place for a romantic weekend and lots of great country walks nearby. The hotel is by a fairly busy road, although it wasn’t too bad noise-wise. There was also a little noise from the music in the lounge downstairs but this was only early evening and these are minor quibbles. It's really a very appealing place to stay.
- Alison (8/5): - Location, fabulous food, accommodating evening staff
- Christopher (10/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Maxine (10/5): - Great little in. The hosts are very welcoming and the staff brilliant. Food was beyond my expectations.
- Denise (10/5): Very comfortable, stylish, great service - Location - idéal for a visit to Chapeldown Winery
- neil (9/5): -
- Bridget (8/5): Overall comfortable stay - Staff very friendly and although eat elsewhere for the evening chief very informative. Slight problem with newly painted room.
- Rebecca (10/5): Great value and a lovely stay - Lovely host, good breakfast with a nice room and comfy bed
- Frances (5/5): - Eclectic mix of furniture & a very Old Building
Lovely modern bathroom with a walk in Shower
Staff very polite & helpful
We didn’t eat there, but it does have excellent reviews for it’s restaurant Very limited Parking , the Staff did find us a parking place across the road which was good
The very small bedroom ,no dressing table ,coffee machine on the window ledge
Bed creaked when you turned over as the mattress was on wooden slates looked like an Ikea bed
Only continental breakfast included
We thought £166 mid week was expensive for our Stay , although we do appreciate the Area is quite Wealthy
- Denise (10/5): Birthday trip...and Wine Tasting - It was all good. It met everything we were expecting (and more). The staff were really helpful and accommodating. The food was good the room was comfortable...what more could you want..? We'll go back.
- Michelle (10/5): A lovely property, immaculately clean, friendly staff and tasty breakfast. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again. - Lovely inn full of character. Beautiful room , immaculately clean. We arrived early due to going to a wedding. Staff were so helpful and allowed us to check in early and even found a steamer for my husband to press his suit. A very nice continental breakfast was included in our rate. We chose to pay extra for a cooked breakfast. A most enjoyable stay. Nothing
- Louise (10/5): Superb food, amazing room and everyone so friendly and helpful - Everything, what a wonderful place to stay Nothing
- Shaw-Hawkins (8/5): Lovely stay in a lovely village - Good location at the end of the high street. Room was very comfy and an excellent shower. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was nice but had to pay extra for a cooked one (But it was very nice). A lovely stay but expensive, however it is the norm for this area. Stairs were quite steep and narrow but it is an old building so to be expected. The bar was closed up by 10.30 on our second evening so we were not able to give them more custom when we got back from our train trip. Noisy road outside but we were provided with earplugs.
- Weaver (10/5): A wonderful spot and we’ll definitely return. - An excellent value with an extremely considerate staff. Very attentive service. We enjoyed our stay.
- Vivienne (8/5): -
- Tim (10/5): Homely welcoming hotel with great food - Very homely with cheerful service in a good location
- Matthew (10/5): - Seonaid was an excellent host- she made us feel welcome & at home straight away. Her staff were always welcoming, helpful & knowledgeable. The food was amazing & they have a high quality wine list, including lots of local wines at very good value.
- Sally (9/5): Beautiful place, cosy and welcoming. - Beautifully decorated pub and room. The bed was very comfy and the shower was great. The owner was very helpful and friendly! We had lunch there which was delicious and breakfast was very nice too. 5 minute taxi from chapel down vine yard, so perfect to combine with a trip there.
- Halkerston (9/5): -
- Marcel (9/5): Perfect stay with a lot of value for money and as a bonus great food. - Friendly staff, very inviting atmosphere and great historical building Not applicable
- David (8/5): Comfortable stay in a good location. “Rulebook” is ridiculous - Good location, great shower, comfortable bed. Poor breakfast. Ridiculous rules in the info pack.
- Bibi (9/5): Super locatie - Hele gezellige accommodatie . Heel schoon en smaakvol ingericht . Heel
Gezellig dorp Het parkeren was wat lastig en we vonden het jammer dat er geen Cooked breakfast was
- Paul (7/5): Nice place with very friendly staff and in a great location. - Location and friendly staff. Good food and beer choice. Breakfast was continental only. Bar closed early.
- Geoff (10/5): Nice Small Hotel - Very nice hotel. Room was great but we got a free upgrade when we got there. The room was stylishly decorated, nice and I appreciate the history of the place.
Comfortable bed with a good firm mattress.
Breakfast was OK for a small hotel.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. There was some confusion about payment but this was quickly resolved.
I would stay here again if I was ever in the area. Parking is a bit of a pain but we managed to get a spot on the road opposite the hotel.
- Stephen (10/5): - Beautiful rooms with very comfortable beds & bedding
- Wreyford (8/5): Happy customers - Breakfast was good, no cooked food available but plenty of buffet cold selection and toast available! Parking is not on site for more than three cars but we were lucky enough to be one of three, overall it was very good and right in the town which is lovely!
- Staib (7/5): -
Sehr kleine Zimmer. Das spartanische Frühstück.
- Graham (8/5): -
- Alan (9/5): wonderful place to stay - Very nice continental breakfast. The room was small but it's only for sleeping and having a coffee. The pub has been refurbished and renamed since we last stayed here and it is a wonderful place to stay and eat/drink. Staff are lovely and I can't find any fault with our stay Nothing
- Robert (8/5): -
- Melanie (10/5): Wonderful - Super modern and comfortable Nothing
- Joanne (8/5): - Very nice people and clean Didn’t know what the room was going to be like very clean but yo small
- Alison (8/5): Nice stay in Tenterden - Lovely decor, friendly staff, good location Would’ve been nice to have a wider range of breakfast options
- Yingying (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (8/5): Very nice but felt expensive for what it was at £170 - Nice, quirky decor throughout. Bar and restaurant downstairs. £170 for a mid range room did seem expensive even though all was very nice.
3 x parking spaces that weren’t available. Continental breakfast.
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (9/5): A great place to stay for a short break - The accommodation was very comfortable, welcoming and clean. A lovely small bar which sells a range of drinks with you being able to take your drinks to the lounge where you can sit and relax.
The restaurant has a relatively small menu but this allows a focus on quality which we were very happy with. Breakfast is buffet style but a good range of food to set you up nicely for the day ahead.
The staff are engaging and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are next to the main road which can be noisy at certain times but that did not impact when we wanted to sleep, however ear plugs are provided for the light sleeper.
There is minimal parking onsite but there is a car park a very short walk along the road which is the better option.
- Leah (6/5): Perfectly fine weekend away - The room was small, but nicely decorated with lots of extras like robes and a coffee machine. The staff were friendly and the chips were delicious. The village of Tenterden is really pretty and the proximity to Chapel Down and other vineyards was perfect. A lot of the drinks were expensive, but the prices weren't advertised until afterwards when we got the bill. We paid £30 for 2 glasses of Pimms.
The was no soundproofing and the fire exit lights in the rooms are bright. They are aware of this as earplugs and eye masks are provided, but I'm afraid the earplugs weren't much use when other guests were coming back late.
They state limited parking, but there really was no parking at all (a tiny gravel strip at the front where a taxi was parked) so we had to pay £13.20 per day at the nearest car park, which was a 5 minute walk away.
Breakfast was fine, but very limited. The option of having a cooked breakfast would have been nice.
- Dianne (9/5): The hotel was very nice indeed and although it was a little noisy I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Everything you nee - The hotel was really nicely decorated and very clean. Ideally located for local tourist spots - located on the main road.
The food was excellent and Seonaid and the staff were fantastic. Because it was on the main road it was noisy but ear plugs are provided if the noise is an issue.
- Sarah (8/5): Comfortable stay in historic town - Very warm welcome from the owner and staff who were friendly and helpful. Comfortable and attractive rooms. Nice lounge and bar/ eating area. Thoughtful and interesting decor.in a very old building. Lots of character. Location on a busy road. Limited parking on site.
- Christopher (9/5): An ideal, welcoming base for a stay in the Kent Weald. - Great location for the town and the Kent Weald generally.
Very helpful, welcoming, well informed owner.
Interesting theme running throughout the hotel with complementary, tasteful furnishings and decor.
Very good food, both breakfast and dinner. Bedroom got very hot during the day, difficult to cool it down for restful sleep. (But we were there during a heatwave.)
- Louise (10/5): We were unfortunately later than we had anticipated, telephoned to explain situation but nothing was to much trouble . - Very welcoming, staff very helpful and friendly.
Food was amazing. Nothing
- Helen (7/5): Was lovely but felt it was too noisy by the road and couldn’t sleep as was very hot. - Location was great for walk into town and garden was lovely Room was very small for the price paid and the breakfast was not sufficient enough as you had to pay for full English
- Katie (10/5): Comfortable, relaxed, friendly, good value - Quickly, friendly/family run, excellent products/quality in the bedroom N/a
- Dace (9/5): Superb -
- Angus (8/5): Very good - Charming and friendly host
Comfortable bed Room a bit small. Okay for a night but would be too poky for a longer stay.
- Mary (10/5): Perfect for a weekend stay, very comfortable and with gorgeous treats in the bedroom - Atmosphere. Welcoming. Comfortable Noisy road
- James (9/5): Wonderful stay. The staff were ever so friendly and helpful and we really had a good time. - Close to local amenities and very good food/drink provided. Lovely garden and seating area. Can’t guarantee to get a parking space outside the hotel.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carole (10/5): A relaxed stay in a very welcoming environment with excellent food from the restaurant - Attention to detail. Modern and quirky decoration. Boutique style hotel with friendly staff and customers. Excellent location for a very attractive small town of Tenterden and the local vineyards
- Violeta (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (7/5): Good -
- Tania (8/5): Rather like staying with friends. Great food too. - A very warm welcome on an overnight stay. We were visiting Sissinghurst on our way to the tunnel. We chose The Print House Inn due to its location. Easy to find. Really comfortable and it had everything you need. We enjoyed a very good meal and loved the walled garden, a very relaxing spot for a drink. Nothing. Good value too.
- Durant-pritchard (8/5): Very good -
- Tony (8/5): Very good -
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (2/5): Disappointed - Not a lot Breakfast very basic, not offered full English, noisy work outside. If you’re on the tall side watch your head at every turn, lots of low spots
- Nicolaas (7/5): Lovely and quirky - Lovely decor and the staff was amazing. Dinner was great value for money and the chef did an excellent job The ceilings are low and the walls are paperthin (which makes sense in a listed building) so be prepared for lots of noice from adjecent rooms. Also we found the price for the accommodation a bit high and we were a bit surprised that a simple thing like eggs would be a 8 pound extra cost on the standard breakfast charge. Parking is a bit of a challenge too.
- Bryan (7/5): Disappointed - Access to the area, bar and breakfast area good Parking, size of the bedroom,
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Lettitia (7/5): Good -
- Lawrence (9/5): Superb - We had a pleasant stay at the Inn. The innkeeper could not have been more accommodating. We had car trouble and she took the time to drive us to the repair shop not once but twice. We had dinner at the Inn which was excellent and unfortunately did not have time for the full breakfast. The rooms are charming with everything you would need. Would stay again!
- Dave (9/5): Superb - Attention to detail was good , very nice continental breakfast , all the food was top quality and with locally produced cheeses ,tomatoes on the vine etc
Also jam and butter etc in dishes , no unnecessary plastic containers,so more eco friendly Rooms aren't huge and it can be noisy due to traffic on the front of the hotel
- Michael (7/5): An ideal location in pleasant town - Location was perfect, and the bus from Ashford stopped at the door.
Soft, comfortable bed.
Good breakfast
Interesting information on the Caxton connection Confirmation stated breakfast was included but I was not expecting the substantial surcharge for a cooked breakfast, which made the total cost expensive.
- Ian (8/5): Good stopover for a couple of nights visiting Kent. - I deliberately booked a cheaper room at the back having read previous reviews about traffic noise. No traffic, but woken up by the dawn chorus outside our window. Other guests heard an owl in the night. The hotel does provide earplugs, and eye masks, but the blackbird had a beautiful song so happy I heard it. Small room, but quite big bathroom, and we made use of the lovely lounge downstairs after dinner so had plenty of space. As others note, there isn't too much parking directly outside the Print House, but you can park the other side of the road as well after dropping off, so no issue if you come prepared for that. Dinner in the restaurant was very good, and some very nice local wine on offer. Nice beer garden out the back as well. The continental breakfast was plenty, so didn't trouble the cooked this time. The Print House is an interesting and quirky old building, and has a few foibles. But come forewarned and you will enjoy its facilities as we did.
- Jeremy (8/5): Very good -
- Phil (8/5): Overall a very enjoyable stay - We booked a deluxe King Room including breakfast for one night , following a visit to Chapel Vineyard
Very interesting quirky building , friendly helpful staff in the morning for breakfast and evening in the bar.
Nice relaxing atmosphere in the bar for a game of cards a couple of platters and drinks.
A couple of observations :
Having booked the Deluxe King Room with extra large double bed for £167 (exc Booking.com Genius discount ) we felt the room was smaller than we expected given the description and price. The room facilities and cleanliness were all very good
The room is described as having a quiet street view , however the room we had was positioned on the main road just by the traffic lights , however with the benefit of a vineyard visit and a couple of drinks in the bar this was not a issue for us !
The description in booking .com states that breakfast is included , this should be amended to make it clear that Continental Breakfast is included , a cooked breakfast is an additional price
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Keith (8/5): Very good - The location. Friendly staff. Quiet. Quirky decor. Upgraded but the room was still quite small. No mirror in the bedroom and inadequate plug sockets.
- Lokidog (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about the Print House was first rate from the comfortable bed and facilities in the room to the splendid breakfast. The owner was welcoming and very helpful. I would readily recommend the Print House as a place to stay.
- Susan (10/5): What a place to say all the team made you feel special - Fabulous all the little extras were added for a personal touch everything was done for a perfect stay Nothing from the print house
Just 2 things which were booking.com information
Should inform
Breakfast is only Continental and pay for cooked is extra parking very very limited (which I didn’t notice)
- Kirsty (10/5): Amazing. Would highly recommend - Everything, staff were very welcoming and would always have a chat with us. The room was amazing and we were upgraded when we arrived. Would stay again There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
