Guest Reviews

- Cheryl (6/5): Comfortable, peaceful overnight stay in a spectacular location - The magnificent view, quiet and peaceful. Colleen is a lovely host. Great drinking water and hot water for showering. Everything one needs for an overnight stay, or longer was there. Fascinating little wood burning stove for warmth. Didn’t need to use it. A bit basic. Mattress was very firm. Could have been cleaner. Needs some TLC.
- Behl (9/5): - A home away from home
- Tiago (9/5): - Recepção incrível A distância do local até a rodovia
- Jody (8/5): -
- Mahlobo (8/5): - The place is very good for getaway and exploring different things. The staff Carreen was very welcoming and they were just a message away when I needed something. I enjoyed my one night stay and I wish to come and spend more than one day. Water was cold, at night and in the morning even though I took the instruction to give it about 30 minutes but still they came out cold.
- Toby (10/5): Beautiful place. - Quiet and scenic. Would book again. Last few km are on dirt road, but manageable.

- Sarah (9/5): A perfect farm stay. - Gorgeous farm stay. Warm friendly welcoming. Hot delicious shower. Comfortable beds. Beyond gorgeous views.
- Rivkin (8/5): We had a quick stay and booked late. The host were so accommodating and pleasant. - The hosts were very personable and took time to talk with us and get to know us better. The place was exactly where we expected it to be; 15 km out of town on a farm. We woke up to five beautiful horses grazing in the yard and even a reedbuck! The air was crisp and peaceful. We would have stayed longer if we weren’t on a time schedule to enjoy the scenery. We didn’t have hot water for showers.

- Mbali (9/5): The best sleep over. - Colleen and Brian were friendly and wonderful the place was so peaceful. We want to go back for some holiday time. Nothing at all
- Carshlin (10/5): - Liked that it was a peaceful experience, if you looking to get away from busy city life, then this is for you. My family enjoyed our stay especially the kids because they got to pet the Horses.
- William (7/5): -
- Qwabe (9/5): - I liked the staff attitude, the bed was comf, hot water, tea and coffee with fresh milk available, kitchen was clean, the intensils were owsome and enough The shower glass door was somehow brocken
- Joshua (10/5): - Relaxing and serene location and the hosts were exceptionally welcoming. The horses and dogs were an added bonus.
- tebatso (8/5): -
- Coetzer (9/5): Farm excellence - Beautiful farm atmosphere, lovely surroundings. Lovely hot water, warm beds and comfortable kitchen and living area. Nothing.
- Gugulentsha (7/5): Good -
- Susi (6/5): Budget stay far from main road to Piet Retief. - Could book at short notice for one night. Facilities for self catering were fine. Did not realise how far it is from Piet Retief and mainly on dirt road through forest area. Very dated furnishings
- Debra (8/5): Will return. - Quiet, charming retreat for the weekend. Very comfortable and met all our expectations. Interesting to see the farm workings.
- George (10/5): ....a river runs through it. - This is a working farm with cattle and tree plantations for making oils. I was not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful and tranquil setting.
The hosts were extremely hospitable and were happy to answer my many questions about the farm operations, etc.
I had an amazing walk down to the river and countryside on the one day and a trail run on the road tracks around the eucalyptus plantations the next. It is a practical halfway stop between KNP and the greater Durban area It is quite a rough sand road to get to the farm from the main road but I had a 4x4 so it didn't bother me. I guess it is doable with a 2-wheel drive if you are careful
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location. Comfortable accommodation and very helpful owners who made us feel very welcome. And amazing value for money.
- Johann (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the atmosphere, the doggies that slept outside on the patio felt like home.
- Linda (6/5): Quiet & peaceful, all we needed for a stayover, with Solar & Wi-Fi. Enjoyed seeing stars. - Comfy bed. Location, real farm as stated. Quiet & peaceful. Solar & Wi-fi in place. Enough seating outdoor, on nice veranda. Can sleep 4 if needed. Nice welcoming Coffee/Tea and rusk. No double sheet on comfy bed. Brown Bench was not comfy, especially for getting up. No wine glass. Needed a small thin shelf-stand between basin & shower to put stuff. Only small nitty gritty stuff from a city girl.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Bear (10/5): Exceptional - If you are looking for value, this is the place to go in this area. Yet, I cannot stress enough that the greatest value Aloe Inn gives us in its concern for the client. They went way above and beyond to address my safety and comfort.
The room was spacious and while "humble" was all that one would need with a full kitchen, a nice comfortable bed and TV to boot ( for those who need to connect to entertainment).
You won't be disappointed if you choose Aloe Inn. Colleen will treat you like family.
- Leibenguth (10/5): Exceptional - Such a peaceful atmosphere, in the middle of nature, surrounded by beautiful forests. GPS took us on a bit of a detour, but that's not our hosts fault.
- Vani (10/5): 1 night stay - It's an amazing place. Pity it rained the time we were there so we couldn't explore it.
The place was very comfortable. The dogs were so friendly. Nothing.
- Van (9/5): Superb - Baie rustige plekkie om batterye te herlaai.
- Thomas (10/5): Too short but great - Felt right at home straight away, Coleen and Brian are wonderful guest and welcomed me very warmly.
I wish I had more time to discover more about their essential oils production processes and explore the farm. But I’ll definitely come back with more time.
- Twala (10/5): A gem hidden within a tree plantation - The welcome from the hosts. It was like we knew each other long before this visit, such warmth. We enjoyed the peaceful farm environment & the plantations surrounding the farm. Watching horses eating grass nearby. It was like we were the only people on earth alive with our hosts a few meters away from the main house. Quite a break from the traffic noise of Johannesburg. Our hosts showed us into our chalet & explained everything we needed to know about our "one night" stopover home from St Lucia to Johannesburg. Kitchen was well equipped with eveything one would need. We were even able to take a bath in the evening. Nothing
- Combrinck (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Marvellous friendly knowledgeable hostes.
Sadly, it was raining heavily, and I couldn't fully apreachate the surroundings. The rain!
- Annalize (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mthoko (9/5): Superb -
- Hesté (9/5): Superb -
- Du (10/5): Exceptional - The peaceful atmosphere
- Alice (10/5): Peaceful and immersed in the nature - We stopped at Aloe Inn Guest Farm in our way from St. Lucia to JNB. The place was extremely peaceful and it was a nice surprise to rest in this place along the long road. The hosts were very friendly and gave us precise indications to reach the Farm. Unfortunately, we had to stay only one night, but for sure we will choose again this place when we will be back in South Africa!
- Addie (8/5): Narute's life!! - I liked the stay on the farm! Very spacious room with a very friendly owner! Room has everything you need as a traveler. Dogs are very friendly!! There's nothing to complain about! The place is Farm stay and between nice plantations.
- Mmatlou (9/5): Superb -
- Heinrich (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wesley (7/5): Good - Have used Aloe Inn a few times. Accommodation was clean and well situated. Perfect for our staff working away from home
- Roskin (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the Tranquillity and clean air and also the animals on the farm. I was accepted with warmth and pleasantries. I disliked absolutely nothing and would encourage all other people to visit this place.
- Freek (6/5): Pleasant -
- Roché (8/5): Very good -
- Clive (9/5): Superb -
- Sibiya (8/5): It was an amazing therapeutic stay with a very great scenery and amazing welcoming hosts - It was self catering which was the whole idea of going to book out at Aloe Inn guest farm. All was in order for a hospitable stay. It was a home away from home. The shower drain clogs up and leaves water to rise.
- Justin (7/5): A pleasant, comfortable, restful stopover on our travels - Warm welcome. Peace and quiet. No load-shedding because the place is off the grid with solar power. Excellent free wifi. Hot shower.
- Willem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maritz (10/5): Comfortable County Self Accommodation for anyone - We were heartly welcomed by our host and their family. We enjoyed the family-friendly accommodation and activities in and around the facility. The view was exceptional.
