Guest Reviews
- Nell (10/5): A wonderful break from all the hustle - The property was beautiful and the breakfast amazing. It was truly a calming retreat.
It got a little chilly during the night, but the heated blanket kept me cozy!
The surrounding towns Metung and lakes entrance are wonderful destinations for a nice coffee. Such a gem on the southern coast.
- Gary (10/5): Lovely accommodation in a beautiful, peaceful location. - Great, little barn accommodation in a very peaceful quiet location, but not far from Metung, which has a great pub and several cafes. Sarah is a great hostess and provided us with breakfast items and biscuits, which is a nice touch. Nothing
- Jakob (10/5): Wat een heerlijk verblijf!! - Hoewel niet heel erg groot, was echt alles aanwezig. En superschoon! Heerlijk bed. Een super ontbijt met eigen producten zoals jam en honing en eieren.
- Jane (8/5): -
- Beeton (8/5): A day in bliss - Loved the ambience of the barn and the peaceful and tranquil setting. The king bed was very comfortable and all amenities were at hand. Sarah was a very friendly host. After parking in the allocated area the walk to the barn was a struggle in the dark some additional solar lights would have helped to guide us to the Barn. Used my phone light so not a deal breaker.
- Irma (7/5): Rustic country getaway - Quiet, peaceful, comfy bed with good breakfast provisions. Sarah and Kevan helped out with a maintenance issue and were very responsive and keen to ensure we had everything we needed including firewood. The blinds didn’t allow for enough privacy as they were see through. If they were blockout it would’ve helped. A fly screen or wire on the door would’ve been nice for fresh air and there was cobwebs on the rafters. The burner was nice but the space doesn’t really allow for cooking so probably could go without as the microwave, kettle and toaster is also available. Our dog couldn’t be outside without a leash so perhaps a bit of a fence around the courtyard area of the Barn would’ve been nice to allow her outside too.
- Butler (3/5): -
- Isa (9/5): Lovely and peaceful stay - Lovely cottage surrounded by green, small kitchen and tv were present. Host Sarah was very kind. The breakfast was a bit small for the days that we stayed
- Margaret (9/5): Lovely property in quiet, peaceful location. -
- Miki (10/5): - The compfort and atmosphere was lovely. Cosy with a lovely atmosphere not far from town. Nothing
- Tina (10/5): I now want to build a barn exactly like that and put it some close to the ocean! 😍 - Super cute little barn in a very nice area!
- Richard Bowie (9/5): Nice Stay - Excellent accomodation near Lakes Entrance. Nothing
- Imogen (8/5): - Very friendly hosts. Nothing was too much trouble in a stunning garden.
- Sheli (10/5): - The place was great! Cozy and very well done. The breakfast with the fresh eggs from the property were great too!
- Jed (10/5): The Barn was exactly what my partner and I were looking for in a short stay! - Fantastic vibe, exactly what we were looking for in a short stay! Lovely hosts and great facilities. Location was convenient while being off the beaten track. The hosts provided homemade eggs, jams and spreads which really made the place feel homely. Pet friendly for furry friends as well. We recommend a stay at the Barn very highly!
- Louise (7/5): Lovely sweet cabin with very comfortable bed , excellent shower and very helpful friendly host. - Very cute and comfortable cabin, with excellent shower , very comfortable bed and thoughtful touches like bread , eggs , honey etc. Sarah was delightful and very helpful to deal with . Convenient location only short drive to all attractions and beaches. Only set back which didn’t impact us too much as it was a very mild night and so keeping windows closed and using spray , along with overhead fan for airflow, worked overnight for mosquito protection.
- Clare (10/5): -
- Isabel (8/5): -
- Ellie (10/5): Rustic, chic barn surrounded by nature and the beauty of Lakes Entrance - The barn was incredibly cute, and the homemade honey, jam, and eggs were a lovely touch! It was in a gorgeous area, surrounded by natural beauty, and the hosts were very helpful, thoughtful, and provided some great recommendations for things to see/eat/do in the local area. Would recommend! It was a peaceful, private sanctuary surrounded by nature.
- Angelica Ann (10/5): -
- Simone (7/5): - Clean & comfortable No fly screen on doors or windows and there were flies & mosquitoes
- Graeme (9/5): -
- Brenton (1/5): Terrible facility tried to ring the owners and they didn’t even bother to call us back - I did not like anything
We were greeted by a swam of mozzies
Location is terrible
Open the door and all you can smell is mould Could not find the room for 20 minutes.
We have stayed in many places and this was the worst one ever
Had the feel of an axe murder was about to happen
So disappointing it ruined our trip
- Katrin (9/5): Außergewöhnliche Unterkunft! - Sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, alles Notwendige vorhanden.
- Michelle (8/5): Near Lakes Entrance getaway! -
- Erik 56 (9/5): -
- Bronwyn (6/5): Small Barn not so convenient on a cold and wet night. - The barn is small and cute and is well portrayed in the photos on the website. We needed to break our journey home to Melbourne from Canberra and didn't want to go to Lakes Entrance again and so this was a good alternative. Unfortunately it was raining hard all the time we were there and it's not the best place to be in torrential rain. The gardens look lovely and better weather would have provided a very pretty vista and even a sit outside in the greenery. Sadly not for us. As I said it was raining hard and where we were allocated parking was not close to the Barn and so we had to traipse back and forwards to our car to deliver our stuff to the house, resulting in us getting very wet and grumpy. This was further rubbed in once it was dark (and raining) as there is NO lighting outside and no torch and so forgotten items in the car had to remain there. Breakfast was provided due to our Genius status but we had used the only 2 coffee pods provided when we arrived wet the night before...this is a bit stingy.
- Wylie (9/5): Beautiful place to stay. - Very peaceful. Close to everything No place to put suitcase
- john (9/5): Charning & peaceful - We liked that the location was central to the several surrounding areas of interest to visitors. The accommodation was charming and peaceful and inviting and had everything we needed. The host was friendly & helpful.
- Mark (8/5): Cozy and private space for reflection. - Cozy and welcoming host. Sarah was great Nothing
- Marg (8/5): A cosy comfortable retreat - very peaceful and in a great location. - Sarah is a lovely host and very helpful. She provided lots of useful information regarding places to visit. The Barn is very comfortable and cosy with fresh linen and is surrounded by a lovely garden and beautiful countryside. It’s an easy and pretty drive to Metung and is a great location. It’s very peaceful and I loved the sounds of the birds, cows, frogs, insects etc. Nothing
- Linda (10/5): - The beautiful Garden and comfortable bed
- Karen (10/5): Comfortable and relaxing - Well maintained and thoughtfully dressed
- Ushi (8/5): A beautiful little oasis in the country - A lovely space in the country surrounded by beautiful gardens and beautiful bird life. Super comfy bed and absolutely delicious home made apricot jam. Just a couple of niggles, sorry….
Blinds need to be opaque as house window looks directly in onto the bed area.
Coffee cups could use a scourer to remove tea stains.
- Jo (9/5): The perfect barn getaway! - What a beautiful barn. I wish we had been able to stay for more than one night. For breakfast there were fresh eggs, homemade jam and fresh honey from the property hive. Located at the back of the property, you could see the stars at night, and wake up to the sound of birds - not traffic! I am somewhat jealous this isn't my property. The barn is simply delightful!
- Cecilia (9/5): SARAH IS RESPONSIVE TO ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. QUITE AND LOVELY BED WITH ELECTRIC BLANKET. - THE INSTRUCTIONS MADE IT EASY TO FIND. GREAT BREAKFAST, FRESH EGGS AND LOCAL JAM AND HONEY N/A
- Merran (5/5): Location was great but facilities were lacking. - The location was peaceful and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable and the outlook to the garden was lovely. Supplies were meagre. Breakfast was adequate for one day but not two therefore we needed to supply our own . A plate was chipped and mugs were tea stained. The hot water ran out on our 1 st day after 1 1/2 showers and did not reheat. The heater supplied was just adequate. The outside brazier collapsed off its rusty legs from rust.
The owners were not on site to help out.
- RoadRach (7/5): Lovely base for an East Gippsland stay - A very cosy stay. The space has everything you need for a short stay, the gardens are beautiful and Sarah and Kevan are lovely and helpful. They gave us some excellent recommendations for things to do, see and eat. The space is very small, which is fine for a short stay but imagine would be uncomfortable for much longer.
- Sonam (10/5): It was a very good experience. Nice room, quiet and private. - Nice, cozy and private
- Ranali (7/5): Convenient and Cozy - The property is very well located, close to shops and cosy. The hosts recommendations were very good and we got to enjoy some good meals.
- Emily (8/5): -
- Jason (9/5): Would recommend without a second thought - Loved the barn. Quality breakfast. Very cosy room and outside fire area was perfect ! Minor things that could be better (but aren’t essential)
Heating was ok but could be better
A path or stepping stones to the barn.
Not at all negatives, just suggestions that could help! WE STILL LOVED IT ❤️
- Devc (9/5): Cozy - The property has everything you need. filled with beautiful plants, flowering shrubs, and trees, with a friendly host. The bed was cozy, one of the best I've slept in. It was about a 15 min drive to Lakes Entrance where Crispy Pork Banh me at 'Mama Vu' is nothing short of magical! Standing at the main gate, you are greeted by breathtaking meadows and rolling hills, with a magnificent sunset painting the sky.
- Van (7/5): Good - I've messaged sarah via her personal number No sugar .
Shower was dirty in door crevices
Lighting poor getting down to back of property
Very dark
- Brecht (7/5): Value for money - The communication with the host was clear and smooth. The hot shower and the heated blankets were appreciated. It really is just a shed in someone’s garden, so manage your expectations and expect wildlife inside and outside. At the time of the year (late May), it can be very cold.
- Giles (8/5): Some small things that could be fixed but otherwise great! - -friendly hosts
-nice location
-pet friendly
-plenty of amenities provided
-close to town
-comfy bed with heater blanket -mozzies, a lot of them got into the room despite being closed.
-lack of privacy (blinds are see-through and you can see the adjacent house's rooms). I've attached a picture of viewing in from outside the barn with the blinds closed.
-bowls and mugs, please get bigger ones! They were very small. I could only fit 3 Weetbix at a time lol.
- Jourdan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (10/5): Fabulous stay at the Barn - Fabulous stay at the Barn, warm and cozy room on a rural property. If you love looking at the stars, this is for you. We brought our telescope specifically to take advantage of the black sky and had a wonderful time by the fire. The room has everything you require. The breakfast was wonderful with eggs, bread, jams and coffee. The township of Lakes Entrance is an easy 15min drive. We'd definitely stay again. Thanks Sarah & Kevan. Nothing, all was perfect.
- Julia (9/5): Had a great nights sleep, very quiet and the bed and pillows were comfortable! -
- Josie (8/5): A really well priced, lovely, comfortable and clean place to stay. Well done x - Really cute place, very comfortable and clean. Nothing- it was lovely. The bread provided and the milk was a beautiful touch.
- Mandy (9/5): Superb - A very cosy & comfortable cottage with everything you need. We stayed 1 night & it was perfect. Very quiet location & comfy bed.
Sarah's local places to eat & see are great. Highly recommend Efflorescence in Metung for their most delicious cakes.
- Sam (10/5): Beautiful Cottage Getaway - The most beautiful little cottage for a private getaway. Very close to local town & beach. Notable to mention how great the host Sarah was in communication but her passion to ensuring the stay was both comfortable & enjoyable.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ethihas (7/5): Good -
- Anne (8/5): Cute and cosy retreat away from the hustle and bustle - Very relaxing and comfortable accommodation in serene surroundings. Great location with easy access to Lakes Entrance or Metung but also a space to just sit and enjoy the quiet ambience. Hosts were very welcoming, friendly and hospitable. Our pet dog was also made quite welcomed.
- Rosie (10/5): Exceptional - No wifi
- Pauloftheforest (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (9/5): Beautiful space, peaceful location. - The Barn was a lovely space for our 1 night stay - wish we could have stayed longer. A beautiful space in a peaceful location. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. Not a deal breaker, but a small fenced area at the front would be handy for dogs to come in and out as needed. But that's me nit picking.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - Beautiful property, close to Metung and Lakes Entrance. Comfortable, clean and relaxing with the added bonus of breakfast supplies - loved the homemade jam! Definitely recommend.
- Varvara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Esther (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property in a quiet peaceful setting
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (4/5): It was okay. Wouldn’t book again or recommend. - It was pet friendly. No air conditioning so when we got there we roasted for most of our night. I was also quite disappointed we didn’t get much communication after I said my home had been broken into and we had to leave early. Other than “I’m sorry and safe trip back” I was pretty mortified.
- Carol (10/5): We had a most enjoyable stay at the Barn. - The cottage was nestled in a pretty garden with many native birds. The accommodation was cosy and comfortable. The host was welcoming and keen to ensure we had a pleasant stay. Sarah provided us with a few suggestions for dinner, walks and other things to do We have considered this question but cannot make any suggestions.
- Diane (10/5): Rustic, comfortable Barn. - Loved how close it was to the M1, and also a short drive to Metung. Also had the best sleep in a very comfortable bed with lovely bed linen. Sarah was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our breakfast, everything we needed including a modern bathroom. We will return to stay this adorable rustic property. Nothing
- Phoebe (9/5): Thank you Sarah and Kevan for being such wonderful and thoughtful hosts! Loved every part of my stay; easy to access, be - A serene, fresh and cosy location. Beautiful gardens, great shower and a very comfortable bed. Loved the breakfast included; delicious local honey, bread and fresh eggs from the chooks at The Barn. Absolutely loved this place and will be back!

- Renaye (9/5): Superb - A really cute place! I loved the effort that went in it to make it cosy.
- Shinta (9/5): A great overnight stay. We loved staying at The Barn. Smartly and beautifully converted into a warm rustic and chich des - Rustic and chic design and very well put. It can be a romantic getaway for two if you decided not to bring your children or pet. We felt very well looked after by Sarah and Kevan as they provide everything including some very delicious slices of bread and homemade jam. Our puppy loved it too. Quiet and lovely atmosphere. Nothing
- Kenneth (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable accommodation on a country property close to Lakes Entrance. Well appointed with appliances etc. Local honey and eggs a bonus. Lots of birds.
- Twt (10/5): Exceptional - The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The environment was beautiful! No hot water for shower 🚿
- Freya (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely peaceful place nestled in a pretty garden and a short drive to Metung and Lakes Entrance. Everything I needed in a cosy space with a friendly and helpful host.
- Aimee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lysia (10/5): I’ll be back. 😊 - The Barn was absolutely gorgeous- set in a delightful garden. It was very private and lovely fresh eggs for breakfast. I have already recommended it to friends and family. The bathroom door kept sliding open.
- Valeria (10/5): Relaxing and beautiful! - Beautiful property in a very nice and quite area. We liked sleeping hearing the birds. We had a wonderful time there.
- Erin (10/5): Cute little getaway near Metung - Lovely little spot just out of town. Sarah and Kevan were lovely and warm hosts who made our stay comfortable and feel at home. The Barn was clean and tidy, would definitely recommend staying!
- Katie-marie (10/5): Would stay again, beautiful accomodation - Lovely property and dog friendly. Fresh bread and homemade jam/honey was delicious and such a nice touch. Could use a few more signs to make sure in the right place/going through the right gate ect :)
- Davidson (10/5): Exceptional - the whole vibe was a very positive experience thoughly e joyed evey part nothing every was amazing
- Brooke (8/5): Super comfy stay - Location was amazing, the bathroom was beautiful and I loved the rustic feel of the place. Beautiful big bed. Tim tams were a beautiful touch. I struggled with the mosquitos, but nature can’t be helped.
- Mario (7/5): Peaceful getaway - We were disappointed with the Breakfast amount as we we only supplied for 1 night and not 2.
It would be nice to have chairs to sit on
There was no broom so it made it difficult cleaning up after the dogs.
There was nothing to light the BBQ
I was attacked by mosquitoes which were entering through gaps in the build.
Not suitable to have a dam with sitting water next to The Barn or at least have flyscreens
With regards to the mosquitoes it would have been nice to have been warned then we could have come prepared
We enjoyed the garden and the fact we could bring our dogs. They location and proximity to other sites is convenient.
- Sally (9/5): Excellent value, comfortable, off the beaten track but close to facilities, thoughtful hosts - We loved that the Barn had everything we needed, and some unexpected thoughtful additions. It was very comfortable and excellent value for money. Highly recommend staying here!
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Williams (9/5): Relaxing - Clean and cozy Was all good
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Aurel (7/5): It has potential but needs fixing and more attention from the hosts. - Quiet location, comfortable bed, clean linen and towels. Breakfast: not at all as advertised. Five dry slices of Baker's Delight white bread, small butter, honey, jam, some milk, eggs.
Please do not advertise as super breakfast. No yoghurt, no fruit (apart from grapefruit from the garden), no cheese as shown on photos.
Cooking facilities: camping cooker is insufficient; there is no bench to put it on. Therefore, difficult to boil eggs. In winter, it is cold and wet and there is no table with chairs inside to eat. Crockery and cutlery was dusty and needs to be kept in a cupboard.
Parking: needs to be closer to accommodation; walkway unsuitable for arriving in the dark.
- Alwin (7/5): Cosy and rustic stay - The location was good. Bed was warm, clean and cosy. The cleanliness of the place could be improved. There were a lot of cobwebs everywhere.
Also would be good to have better lighting outside around the barn at night.
- Simon (8/5): Worth the detour! - Cozy and relaxing, tucked away in confort.
Made the most of a little clearing in the sky to enjoy the outside fire place in the evening. Too short!
- John (9/5): Best sleep in years - Best sleep I've had in years. Great track for walking the dog - place was fit out very nicely so I'm glad I brought a cover for the bed as it's hard to keep him off the bed all night especially when im comatose like that.
Love dog friendly places. We were in a road trip home so only one night meant missing out on sightseeing
