- Udo (10/5): - Ein schönes englisches Pap mit freundlichen Menschen . Ohne großen Schnick Schnack. Genau nach unserem Geschmack. Essen Trinken sehr gut. Hier fühlt man sich wohl. Ohne großen Luxus.
Danke für die unvergessenen 2 Woche
- Martin (7/5): - ...alles okay aber etwas weit vom Schuss ..das Gebäude ist sehr hellhörig.
- Geoffrey (9/5): -
- Lisa Sofie (10/5): - The room is very cozy and clean, very comfortable bed! We loved everything.
- Yuanyuan (9/5): Clean and good facilities. Cozy and comfortable - Clean and good facilities. Cozy and comfortable
- robert (10/5): -
- Emma (8/5): Very good. - Grateful for the eggs as I prefer a savoury breakfast rather than cereal and/or toast & jam. The room was very comfortable and immaculate. A lot of thought has been put into those little extras - biscuits, soap etc ... thank you! Maybe slightly clearer signage to the rear of the property? The door was marked but the sign didn't stand out as I arrived in the dark, carrying a heavy bag and weary after 6 hours driving. I entered the bar area as I thought this was the best bet and a kind gentleman showed me the way.
- Michael (8/5): Lovely 16th century local pub... - Great location.... lovely old 16th century pub.... clean.... comfortable, great real ales/food.Excellent staff... Will definitely be returning. A few issues which we bought to Landlords attention with heating, water, but all dealt with immediately, with great communication.

- Michael (10/5): - Lovely stay and really friendly staff and local residents
- Toby (10/5): - Place was clean and tidy. Staff were great. The pub is still traditional, with fantastic food.
- Hanne (9/5): - Det var sjovt at bo ovenpå en kro, og med nogle virkelig venlige mennesker til at passe stedet.
Hyggelig kitchenette hvor alt til morgenmad var klar.
- Anthony (7/5): - It was fine, would use again.
- phil (10/5): Absolutely fantastic will always come back here - Stay here 2 or 3 times a year and cant fault this amazing place always a pleasure to stay here so clean and in a lovely quiet location always want to stay here whenever we are on our trips to cornwall🙂 Having to leave
- Kasper (8/5): - Stedet var rigtig hyggeligt beliggende oven på den lokale cummunity pub Man kunnne god have skrevet der kun var en dobbelt dyne!
- Tina (10/5): - Excellent break made us very welcome Fantastic
- janine (9/5): As usual very good. - Excellent little kitchen to prepare breakfast
- janine (10/5): - We love the idea of the self service breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. We will keep returning!
- Michael (10/5): - Sehr freundliche Gastgeber.
Gerne wieder 😊. Es gab nichts zu beanstanden.
- West (10/5): Very convenient location to visit my family. - I like the help yourself breakfast and the freedom to come and go as you please with access at all times. It would be nice to have a more comfortable chairs in the rooms. The present ones are very hard.
- gary (9/5): Excellent stay in a fantastic village pub. - The bedroom was comfortable and well equipped. All the staff and locals were friendly and welcoming even though I am from Devon🤣. The kitchen area provided for guests was a really nice touch and we enjoyed the food available in the evenings. We loved our stay and will look forward to returning and supporting the only community owned pub in Cornwall. N/A
- Maria (10/5): excellent - Room was very clean everything you need
- Mrs Christine Patricia and Mr Robert (9/5): - As expected, and facilities for making your own food , plus small fridge to keep extras in. Helpful staff we thought we had booked "inclusive" of 24th and moving on on 25th but a gremlin in the works had us booking out on 24th but staff managed to book us in for the extra night fortunately and were most obliging.
This is a community run establishment run by locals who "pitch in " when needed and it seems to working very well.
It seems that it is possible to further boost it's progress by investing in shares if you have any extra cash lying about ! The only down-side for us, not knowing the area was the amount of "slow travel" to other places we wanted to get to .I had booked a nice place but didn't realise that what I thought of as reasonable equi-distant 30miles from each place we wanted to visit would take so long to get there. Totally my own fault and now we know ? would definitely stay there again
- Peter (7/5): Good location well presented but spoilt by faulty bathroom heater with simple fault. - Clean, well fitted out, Breakfast was not as expected. It was a collection of cereals milk and eggs that could be boiled on a rack in the hall had to be self made and eaten in bedrooms
Both bedrooms had own bathrooms but the one we used had a faulty thermostat on the towel trail/heater meaning that it was always very hot and when the door was opened the bedroom hot warm. It liked a simple replacement of the thermostat or if not turning off the heater. It wasn’t cold there.
This spoilt our enjoyment of the room to the extent that we would have preferred a different location.

- Mark (9/5): Loved it. It was tucked away in a beautiful part of Cornwall and made for a relaxing break. - Having a selection of items provided for breakfast was really nice. The room was comfortable and clean. We ate at the pub below on a couple of evenings and the food was excellent. There is some noise from the pub downstairs, voices did carry through to our bedroom.
- tracey (9/5): A lovely stay with everything we needed. - Self service breakfast met our needs. Good choice of cereal, toast and eggs if you wanted. Extras available from the shop and a microwave' coffee machine and air fryer available outside the room. nothing, everything was fine.
- Andrew (10/5): Brilliant! - The accommodation was of the highest standard, everything you needed or wanted was there. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. There was a good selection available for breakfast and for snacks throughout the day.
The pub had a good selection of ales and hot food and the community shop had all the little extras. The local customers were very friendly and welcomed and included us. Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Lovely location and room was fantastic - Ideal for what we wanted Ran out of T bags
- Martina (9/5): - Toller Pub, gutes Essen und sehr nette Bedienung. Die Zimmer sind sensationell.
- Antony (10/5): -
- Luke (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - That whole stay was excellent. Room was great clearly recently decorated. Really comfy bed. The pub was also great. We were made to feel like a local from the get go. The locals really made us feel at home & the food & drink were great. We will definitely come & stay again when we are in Cornwall. Nothing. Great room, great pub ,great location.
- Nicola (10/5): Fabulous stay for my sister’s birthday! - Fabulous two night stay. Lovely quiet comfortable room, spotlessly clean and a comfy bed. En-suite shower room. Mini kitchen outside on the landing with a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and eggs, bread, juice, cereal and milk provided plus crockery and cutlery to make breakfast. Ideal base for the Lizard and the coast path. Fantastic Thai meal at Jumunjy for my sister’s birthday which wasn’t far away. One point to mention is don’t follow Google maps from Helston to reach the Prince of Wales pub as it’ll take you round a very long route with nearly all single track roads! There is a better route with wider roads so check the map before you travel! Nothing to dislike.
- Sue28 (10/5): Perfect base to explore the Lizard and surrounding areas - We liked everything there, the staff, the food, cleanliness and friendliness.
Thoroughly recommend and hope to return. Thank you Nothing to dislike
- Mary (7/5): Nice room, nice people, nice pub. - Location. Comfort. The daily maintenance and restocking of supplies was poor. Pub food was disappointing.
- Carole (10/5): Exceptional - The friendly welcome and the lovely staff
- Sofia (10/5): Exceptional - Every thing about the room was excellent.
The pub and the bar food was very good. Frendly staff.
- Louise (9/5): A very English experience. - Room had everything we needed and we loved being in an English village away from the summer busyness in other nearby towns.
Breakfast provided was good.
The pub downstairs was very traditional and had a good atmosphere. Not much room for our suit case no the room and a minor thing was no instructions on how to cook the eggs for breakfast as we weren’t familiar with the cooking machine there.
- Laurence (9/5): Superb - The room was very comfortable and surpassed our expectations. The breakfast arrangement was excellent. I particularly liked the coffee machine and a good choice of bread for toast. Shannon, who served in the pub was very efficient, welcoming, and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was in a different league to the guys who served us the next night Nothing
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annmarie (9/5): Great Stay / Great location for visits - Great location for a short stay.
Hosts were great and the self serve option was brilliant. It served exactly what we needed. No set times.. Great choice of breakfast and drink options too. Non contact check in worked well. Great value All good... Just be prepared...rooms are above the pub and the sound does resonate a little bit upstairs... but doesn't go on till late... We knew what we were booking at the time. So it didn't bother us much at all.
- Martin (10/5): Perfect base for exploring this beautiful area! - Lots of character, with modern bathroom and breakfast area.
Totally flexible arrival time, handy when arriving late, and good parking. Nothing - all good for us!
- Irene (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable room, very clean, and with excellent attention given to detail. Great value for money.
Generous self serve breakfast provisions included, and added bonus of being able to buy cooked meals from the pub.
Would definitely recommend and hope to return.
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Everything fine
- Narinderjit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iksan (9/5): Superb - Breakfast, clean room, good shower Noise from pub downstairs on weekend (quieted after 9.30pm)
- Helen (8/5): Perfect stay! 😎 - I stayed here with my husband and
“I really like that this is a community-owned pub. The man behind the bar was very friendly, and the prices were great—much cheaper than most places in Cornwall.”
There was plenty of parking, which was really convenient. I don’t think the photos do the room justice—it’s a very light and spacious room with a separate bathroom, lots of storage, and thoughtful touches like a robe, toiletries, slippers, and towels, coffee tea and biscuits
There’s a breakfast area just outside the room, well stocked with a great selection: juice, eggs, cereal, bread, coffee, a variety of teas, milk, honey, and even peanut butter—really thoughtful!
The bar is lovely, serves food, and has a great atmosphere. The bed was comfy with nice, crisp bedding. There’s also a beer garden, and the location is central to some great beaches.
Thank you for a wonderful stay! We had a great stay. I would recommend retaking the photos of the rooms as they are so much nicer than advertised,
- Robyn (8/5): This hotel was comfortable and welcoming with lots of old world charm. - Great, generous supplies and thoughtful extras. Nothing
- Clive (7/5): Good -
- Anna (9/5): Excellent Community Run pub - This was a great find! A lovely rural pub that was in a perfect position for our coast path walking. The room was spacious and comfortable with an excellent en-suite and lovely extra touches - robes and slippers! The breakfast set up worked really well as we were out early for walking. The team running the pub were excellent!! We were made to feel very welcome and they were extremely helpful and friendly. The food in the bar was very good indeed and we had a great 3 night stay. Would def stay again. Nothing
- Joy (10/5): Lovely clean friendly pub with rooms . Thank you - Lovely fresh clean bright room We arrived on a night that the pub wasn’t serving food. We had to drive out to eat as there is no where else’s close by. Not really an issue if you check before hand .
- Nickie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Koenraad (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (8/5): Enjoyed my stay here would book again - The Staff were very Friendly, nice food and drinks. Nothing
- Steve (9/5): Superb - Very quiet location, friendly staff and locals. Good food and beers. Clean throughout. Some doorways are a bit low if you're 6'2!
- Janine (9/5): Superb - This is such a great find. We love the DIY kitchenette for breakfast.
- Phil (10/5): Stayed here a few times and it's always been fantastic -
- Rio (10/5): Lovely cozy little place in a gorgeous little village - The property itself was very well kept, I would say the pictures do it no Justice. I was pleasantly surprised to see how nicely decored the rooms were. Me and my partner would recommend this place to anyone. I found the rooms slightly smaller than most places but the cleanliness/decor and kitchenette certainly made up for it. For the value I honestly couldn't complain, I would say the rooms are slightly too small but between me and my partner, it didn't bother us too much. Especially if your not planning on staying in all day.
- Astero (10/5): Absolutely wonderful - It was quaint and warm , very comfortable .
The kitchenette was well stocked .
The staff were helpful an friendly
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Nicely decorated and nicely located for what we wanted
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely old building, very friendly staff and locals alike !
See if you can do the 10 rattler challenge!
4 and I couldn’t remember my name 😜
Great meeting Po and Shannon, take care guys until next time ✌️
- Kim (9/5): Would use again at a drop of a hat.. - Very well stocked - if I had taken my own bacon I would have been in heaven... Nothing..
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (10/5): Lovely place very friendly lovely & clean - Lovely & clean everything we needed
- Lewis (10/5): Glad I stayed - This was a lovely place to stay, it had a very home like feel. While I don't eat breakfast there was plenty of food options with teas etc etc. I would've stopped off in the pub downstairs if I hadn't already had plans, it was very cosy in there with a wood burner. Though I did get some useful tips from the barmaid (Co-owner Michelle perhaps).
The location is out of the way (nice for peace & quiet) but not far away being within 20mins of Helston. I seen other reviews complaining about the access; roads to and parking - ignore, this is not a problem becuase I did it all in a LWB van, a squeeze definitely but done. So, you'll be fine in a car so long as you're a component driver.
I definitely recommend this place and it'll be on my list, should I ever return to Cornwall. Just mind your head on the doors if you're over 5'8", it's an old building after all.
WiFi was a tad temperamental but this isn't a complaint becuase I wasn't even expecting it this location and there's decent enough cell signal.
- Janine (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Immaculate - Superb accommodation, great pub with fantastic food a great choice of drinks and a really warm welcome. Great value for money. The best possible accommodation and best value for money. We can't wait for our next visit
- Rachael (10/5): Perfect property and location for a weekend away. - Location, facilities, and size of room all spot on. Liked everything
- Dennis (9/5): Lovely room with an extra area with breakfast and coffee machine. Ideal to meet our friends. - A lovely old pub but had our own access to our room. Nothing
- Rory (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Brill. Clean and great value - Great room. Spotless. Lots of extras. Super value for money . Dave was a great host. Nothing
- Verity (7/5): Lost in Cornwall:) - Plenty of breakfast food available. Location quiet and handy for driving around lizard peninsula. Country lanes were interesting at times.
- Nick (9/5): Spot on, when we are back in the area, the PoW will be on our list to consider. - Perfect location for anyone wanting something central to the Lizard peninsular - 20 mins by car to everywhere. Self service breakfast was a genius idea, and I'm surprised I've not seen it offered elsewhere - must save costs for the pub, and keep prices down for the customer. Not the fault of the PoW, but on the days when the pub wasn't serving food, neither was anyone else - maybe this is just an off-season topuc, but worth knowing for anyone else planning to stay in the area.
- Mary (7/5): Friendly staff. Help yourself breakfast worked well. - Secluded. Quiet once locals had left!
- Kevin (9/5): Superb - Peaceful, rural, very clean and comfy, friendly staff We liked everything.
- Sarah (10/5): A wonderfully quiet retreat with great hosts. - The hosts were lovely and very helpful. The room was good and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast arrangements were good and the pub below is great and very friendly. The pub garden has a lovely dark sky and we were lucky enough to catch the aurora borealis. We are looking forward to coming back in the future. No complaints at all!
- Carl (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable homely room with a great shower. There was no restriction on breakfast time as you served yourself with a great selection of items to choose from.
- Janine (10/5): We were very comfortable for 2 nights. - Breakfast was good. Excellent kitchenette area.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Noisy late disco karaoke on Saturday night!!
- Gillian (9/5): I had a wonderful long weekend in Cornwall. - Breakfast was self-service which you could have whenever you liked. There was always plenty to help yourself to.
The location was ideal for visiting my family in the village. Because of its location the parking was a bit difficult at times .Also WiFi seemed to come and go but the location is deep in the country so only to be expected.
- Graeme (9/5): Superb choice for discovering South West Cornwall - Room was excellent - exceptionally comfy bed & nice bathroom
Parking available
Breakfast was a brilliant idea and really worked - lots of choice & in our own time 8 miles from helston and the last 2 miles down an unlit country lane - not ideal to find in the dark
Couldn’t secure window, so it banged all night
Both of these were one offs and would notstop us going again - it was excellent
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (8/5): I hoped for a lovely room in a beautiful location above a vibrant pub, but the pub disappointed - The room was beautiful, quiet and very well presented and with everything we wanted for a short break. The self service kitchenette had everything we needed, especially as we were only there for two days. It was also quiet (but maybe because we stayed when the pub kitchen was closed and the pub was almost deserted). I think the self service check in should be an option when the pub is closed as it could be an opportunity to engage with customers and display some pride in what has been created. We stayed over two nights when the kitchen wasn't open (Sunday and Monday) and some suggestions from someone local could have saved some research. When we arrived, David was behind the bar, Emma was sat at the bar and I guess that Michelle might have been the other staff member sat by the bar. There were four other customers but when we came into the pub after letting ourselves into our room, there was no attempt to greet us or welcome us. We were simply another couple of anonymous customers afforded the minimum contact by David to complete a purchase transaction. The following day when we returned from our day out and called into the bar, we were made to feel like unwelcome intruders. There were three or four other customers who continued their conversation in language that I thought was inappropriate in a pub and in mixed company. David did tell them to moderate their language, but he was largely ignored and in a way that suggested language like this was the norm and to be tolerated.
- Polli (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stacey (10/5): Just a lovely rustic community pub/b&b to stay in. Will definitely stay again! - Really loved the rustic doors! The room was lovely, enjoyed sitting in the little window nook. Breakfast area was always fully stocked too
- Nick (10/5): The Prince of Wales exceeded our expectations in every way. - We liked everything about the The Prince of Wales. It was easy to find, instructions were clear once we found the messages on the Booking Dot Com App. Michelle was very helpful when we contacted her to confirm where we could find the key. We were able to go downstairs into the pub and book a meal and have a drink on our first night. A great selection of breakfast options was available in the kitchen area along with coffee, tea, milk, bread, eggs and cereals. Fridge was stocked with milk, eggs, orange juice and fresh water. Can't think of anything that we didn't like at The Prince of Wales, approximately 20 minutes outside Helston. Actual address is Newtown, St Martin, TR12 6DP.
- Beverley (10/5): Host has thought of everything needed for a comfortable stay. - Fantastic staff, very helpful and concerned that we had everything we needed.
The breakfast selection was amazing, loved the addition of the egg boiler and it did its job beautifully.
So many thoughtful touches, not only in the contents of the fridge but the room & bathroom too.
Piping hot water, blissful showers!
Plenty of power points in handy locations round the room.
Meals in the pub were good too. I'm glad I wasn't driving, it's a narrow passageway to get to the car park...
But cannot fault the accomodation!
- Bushnell (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful little country pub, the rooms where beautiful and the little kitchen area was well stocked and had great amenities. We made boiled eggs one day then toast next. Cereal choice was wide and fresh juices and milk. The pub downstairs had lovely food at a very reasonable price. The pizza was fantastic I am always weary about pizzas that aren't from an Italian but it is quite a busy pub for food so we got to see some of the dishes coming out and if I'm honest would have defo tried more food if we had been longer. Prawn cocktail one of my faves was delicious and they had halumi on specials board which was banging. Rattler cider has now become a firm favorite for me.
Nowhere was that far a drive even though it looks it
Seal sanctuary was 12 minutes away, serpentine works (please go it was a beautiful walk) about 15 min and lizard point also about 30 min drive. All through county roads that have wild flowers all over them. I highly recommend this pub for quality quaintness and location.. we are from a city Penzance was was a waste of a trip lol Nothing it was awesome
- Claire (7/5): Good - Kitchenette excellent Slight noise from pub but to be expected
- Christopher (9/5): Excellent small hotel/Inn with nice friendly staff and good food in the pub downstairs - The room was just what we needed, a little more than just a hotel room with facilities to eat in your room etc. A little out the way but some would say beautiful location depending on your view.
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Spotless, comfortable room. Excellent location
- Mark (10/5): Cosy. Cute. And convenient. - As soon as I walked into my room, it felt like home. Everything was very clean and tidy. My room had such a cute and cosy ambience. I'd stay again in a heartbeat! Not applicable. I loved everything.
- Rosie (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect stay for us and our friends when we went to a wedding nearby. Great value. The rooms were gorgeous, clean and comfortable, the self serve breakfast was great, just what we needed. The hosts were lovely, kindly recommended a taxi company for us and were helpful with anything we needed
