Guest Reviews
- Marvin (8/5): Enjoyable time. - The included access to the hot springs was great. Food at the restaurant was very good. When we booked through booking.com, it stated that breakfast was included. However, at the hotel they stated that it was not included. Booking.com should get this correct with the hotel.
- Randall (7/5): -
- ELIAN (5/5): - La comunicación del personal no es adecuada, tampoco la recepción. La relación precio / calidad no es adecauda. Es un muy buen balneario de aguas termales, pero el servicio de hospedaje apenas aceptable.
- Anhoa (2/5): The worst. I dont ever want to come back to stay here again. Not worth - I don’t like it. It’s extremely crowded because public guests are also using the facilities, so it doesn’t feel relaxing at all. Outdated, crowded. Room is small, TV is not working and bathroom has sewer smell really bad

- Rojas (9/5): Excelente - Es cómodo y limpio No comentarios
- Maria (6/5): -
- Stephan (9/5): - LE personal, limpieza y atencion la cama de la recamara estaba floja por que rechinaba y dificultaba dormir
- Denver (10/5): - Even better than the pictures, there was so many pools and hot springs A little cramped room and bathroom
- Juan (5/5): No lo recomiendo precio alto - Cafetería bonita La habitación fea las camas duras y el baño sucio .
El personal CERO atención al cliente y sabían nada lo que le preguntamos
- moreno (5/5): -
- Kelly (1/5): Only stay if there is nowhere else. - The facility is close to everything. Our room was pretty much underneath the water slide. Horrible layout, trying to fit as many rooms in the facility as possible. There was no coffee machine, no shampoo or conditioner. All you get is two bars of soap, and minimal towels. Very minimal and the room smelled musty.
- Yorleny (5/5): -
- Maroly (9/5): Calidad vs precio - excelente opción - Instalaciones en buen estado y la comida muy buena Solo un recepcionista para el check in, hay que tener paciencia si hay muchas llegadas en ese momento

- Thomas (1/5): Do not stay there! - The pools are nice, but overrun by families with small children and babies (you know what that means)… The staff was rude (with exception of the lady at the check in). Accommodations were not even a joke.
I have been to C.R. and La Fortuna many times and always had lovely experiences… this place stood out because of the lack of understanding what hospitality means…
Do not stay there, it’s not worth it.
Greetings
- Loïs (7/5): -
- Trinidad (8/5): - No nos gusto que no habia espacio en la habitacion
- Liudmyla (9/5): Nice location and thermal pools, but the lack of hot water was a big downside. - The location was great, surrounded by nature, and the thermal pools were relaxing. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was no hot water in the shower and the sink, which made the stay uncomfortable.
- Julie (8/5): - Possibilité d'aller dans les piscines thermales. Les chambres sont basiques, manque de rangement.

- Melanija (10/5): Exceptional - Location and hot springs The room are metal containers.
- Noraida (10/5): Exceptional -
- Molina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlos (8/5): Good choice to stay, enjoy the day and go sight seeing. - Family friendly, quite, relaxing, well-constructed hotspring pools. Onsite restaurant with good food and variety. Needs more water slides. Needs handicap hand rails to enter the pools.
- Kirstin (6/5): We slept well and enjoyed the pools but we probably wouldn't stay here again due to small rooms. - I enjoyed relaxing in the thermal pools at night. The beds/pillows were surprisingly comfortable. The location is close to town and many restaurants (less than a 5 minute drive). It was unfortunately overcast during our stay, but it appears the volcano view would be spectacular on a clear day. The bathroom had no shelves or counters for toiletries which made it difficult to manage in the evenings/mornings. The A/C and fan made a knocking noise. We were able to use ear plugs to muffle the sound. The room is very very small, so difficult to manage multiple suitcases. The breakfast was just ok. My husband and I got the "typical breakfast" which was eggs, rice/beans, bread, and a huge side of mayonnaise (???). My daughter got pancakes, which didn't include any sides.
- Nuria (5/5): Too expensive for the quality! - Thermal waters. Near a parking lot and too much noise!
A lot of people in the thermal waters!
A little key for the door that didn’t work properly!
- Joanna (1/5): Horrifying - Nothing It wasn’t a room, but container worth less than 50$. I am shocked this actually was on booking for 170$
- Heather (9/5): Good location and thermal pools - A great little room with porch. It was clean and comfy. Breakfast was simple but good. Delivered to your porch at an agreed time. Two good restaurants on site for meals and drinks. The pools were lovely and great to relax at the end of a busy day. Parking is a bonus and just a short distance to La Fortuna and the many attractions in the area. There are no hangers in the room.
The pools were very busy at the weekend, which made getting into the hotel and parking difficult.
- Adriana (7/5): Good - Location is perfect Hot springs too crowded
- Cathy (1/5): We did not stay there because the hotel canceled our reservations - They charged me for a visit that they canceled on me. We were looking forward to going there but they said that due to unforeseen circumstances they had to cancel my reservations yet they charged me anyway. Now no one is answering my emails or messages.
- August (10/5): Exceptional - All the amenities were above than mentioned!
- Justinas (2/5): Terrible experience, too crowded - This place has nothing to do with “relax”. Tons of people, very noisy. We booked two nights bet stayed only one. Our “house” aka sea container (#14) was few meters away from parking lot and pool area at the same time. Noise cancellation of the container is very bad. Perfect location if you want to start your “relaxing” day with music from 7am.
While I’m not very picky, but for this price range I would expect at least bottle of water or kettle inside, but there is only small refrigerator inside and nothing else. Plastic walls and fake plastic plants inside feels depressing.
They do not reserve parking for hotel guests, so it’s quite challenging to find a place, especially during the weekend. The place is so crowded because it’s cheap to enter with daily pass, which costs 5000 colones (10 usd) for locals.
WiFi was on and off all the time. The hotel doesn’t respond to the messages on booking.com
- Patricia (7/5): It was all good - Hot springs The shower
- Barituziga (6/5): Quaint and small with hot pools. A good place for a minimalist getaway. - Scenery and plants around were nice. Room was quaint and made of a recycled shipping container. Breakfast was delivered each morning. Room was too small to hold 3 people. The second bed took up too much space and made it hard to move around. Place might be a bit overpriced for the about of space compared to other hotel offerings in the area. Would have liked more breakfast options and a wildflower garden to attract birds.
- Carlos (5/5): Passable - Clean, staff Didnt clean daily, water in the pools were dirty, got only 1 pair of towels, no soap, or Shampoo or anything for self cleaning
- Michelle (6/5): Pleasant -
- Brandaba (1/5): Forgot to book us - The Hotsprings were beautiful. When we arrived, they had the reservation through booking.com, but they somehow didn't actually book the rooms. We arrived 2 days before Christmas, so they were fully booked except for 1 room with a double bed and bunk beds. We had to fit 4 people with luggage in a super small room. To top everything off, we had originally paid about 750 for both rooms, and they charged us 600 for just the one. If everything else around wasn't fully booked, we would have been going somewhere else. I do not recommend staying here. The hot springs are beautiful but you can just pay to visit for the day.
- Ilama (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (3/5): Avoid, or don’t I don’t care. - Honestly nothing! It is advertised like a resort with hot springs and misleading pictures. This is a public (people bused in) thermal pool, very small and crowded. The rooms a small storage containers. Bed, tv, toilet, shower.
- Katherine (6/5): Convenient to where the rest of our group was staying. Ability to book us at the last minute. - The different temperatures of the different pools. The container/trailer we stayed in was in the parking lot and very cheaply constructed.
- Celeste (9/5): Fabulous stay - Facilities and staff were awesome. It would have been nice to trade in our wet towels for dry ones.
- Regis (1/5): Temporary housing rooms - The rooms are temporary housing units. Not real rooms. The AC is really loud and kept us from sleeping. Rooms are temporary housing units. Not real rooms.
- César (7/5): Agradable. - Las piscinas La cama, no era confortable.
- Minia (3/5): Basic and disappointing - The thermal pools The room were run down and very basic, honestly they should be charging 60% less than what they charge for the room.
- Ariel (7/5): Comfortable - Quite rooms. Small room, thermal close at 9pm
- Snezana (10/5): perfect - it was perfect accommodation for myself and my 9 year old son, very welcoming, clean, safe and with the best breakfast brought to our room on time, warm and fresh every day. also amazing staff and great pools, plus easy access to any attractions in the area..could not recommend highly enough, we are already planning dates for next year when we come back
- David (5/5): I had to go to San Jose for some business, and I spent three more days up in Fortuna at this place and I tell you my son - I really like that relax restaurant next door to the parking area. Everyone down there does the coffee machines instead of the coffee sock now not that little restaurant. That a little old lady cooking back there that just made such delicious food. They’re putting a huge addition on the back which the construction noise doesn’t bother you at all but they were having a party for the workers on one of the days and the smell of the barbecue they were making was so good. I wanted to go over there and eat. So I don’t know maybe in a few months or by next year this place is going to be huge. The rooms are really small. There’s no storage in the rooms at all. There’s no privacy in the rooms at all so. But we weren’t really hanging out in our room so it didn’t matter. The only thing we were doing in there was sleeping.
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Nice simple rooms with included breakfast and access to hot springs. Dedicated parking for hotel guests and nice staff. Nice ac and clean rooms!
- Mala (5/5): Did the job but not right for me. - Breakfast and breakfast service was good. Didn’t really feel like a hotel. No interaction with staff.
- Julie (10/5): Great rooms, great hot springs, comfortable cabins, fantastic staff. - I love this place. The rooms have good AC and a hot shower, comfy beds. The staff is so lovely, always friendly and helpful. I needed to leave early in the morning so they brought my breakfast to my room. :) nothing
- Ashley (10/5): Great - It was really clean and the breakfast was REALLY good
- Frankie (8/5): lovely relaxing stay close to the La Fortuna waterfall - this was a very nice hotel with 7 pools powered by hot springs including 2 cool ones to relax around. the rooms are small private cabins that are modernly decorated with large showers and good size beds, AC and TV.
Breakfast is served daily on your patio with 4 options to choose from, we loved the pancakes :). The restaurant on site has a good selection and large portions. It is closely located to the town should you want to explore other options too The pools are visited daily by tour groups which make them very busy from about 630 onwards.
- Sean (6/5): Expensive but worked - The hot springs were great to relax in after a day of adventuring. Included breakfast was ok. 3 beds for a travelling family is great. The rooms are converted shipping containers, actually you get half of one. With the family room there is no place for all 4 to stand a the same time. There's no table or places to put anything. Seemed expensive for what we got. Wifi was intermittent.
- Agata (9/5): it is worth the good value if you looking for use of hot springs - the pools are very clean , it is not crowded, in the morning we were the only people in the pools for at least one hour , the huts are very simple but clean , having breakfast delivered to your room was a nice feature at night the people were drinking beer in the pools and leaving the cans around
- Jay (8/5): Great stay in La Fortuna! - Great location, close to downtown and convenient to other areas. Wonderful to have the hot springs right on site. Our room was clean, loved the little porch out front. Nothing
- Deanna (8/5): Very good -
- Timothy (3/5): Will not recommend this place to stay. Pools were nice but some were not family friendly - Breakfast and staff preparing it was the best part of this facility Room was tiny. No ventilation. No windows. Moisture from wet towels and clothes could not escape. The hotel catered mostly to tours coming for the pools. And the towels. If you didn’t bring from your room they would not give another one to use. Unless you paid.
- Barefootmart (9/5): Great experience - Great place, not too busy, families and couples can enjoy the many pools and temperatures (max 40°) of this hot spring at an affordable price. 2 restaurants on site, you can also bring your own food and have a picnic at many pod type tables with electric plugs. They have converted sea-cans for hotel rooms. Stay 1 night get 2 days use of hot pools. Breakfast delivered too your room Our sea-can hotel room was a little too small once you have your luggage inside.
- Jeffrey (9/5): Superb -
- Christianson (9/5): Loved it, the pools were very nice - Right next to the pools
Restaurant had good food
Bar inside pools makes delicious drinks, try the pinacolada in a pineapple
- Maddisson (10/5): Hidden Gem, Highly Recommend!! - Everything! The rooms, pools and volcano views exceeded my expectations. I think it would be nice to have an « adults only hour » or something similar for hotel guests
- Megan (4/5): Disappointing -
- Katy (8/5): Very good -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laurie (10/5): great fun accomodation to come home to after a day of adventuring - very clean, facilities very good. new build from shipping containers, so a little strange in design but really comfy. each room has its own little porch. the hot spring facilities are GREAT - be careful on the slide though haha!
staff were super friendly and accommodating. restaurant on site really good quality. our fav was the barman!
- Dianne (5/5): Questionable - We loved the location and the hot springs! We thought the price was fair.
Breakfast was decent and delivered to your room - nice touch. If your a smoker, I would NOT go here! Our group had 2 smokers, which did not smoke in the room! We're all adults here, and respect that! The staff actually came and smelled the pillows when our friends checked out and charged them an extra $25. They do smoke! They definitely smoked off property, and did not throw butts in the forest or street, but brought them to the garbage in the room, being responsible. I'm am X smoker and could not smell smoke in the room AT ALL. I feel like this was a bait and hook situation and very unfair.
The rooms could use more hooks for sure!
Hot Springs were open 9-9. Be nice if it was 7-11 instead as we were out busy during the day, so little time to enjoy.
- Sorin (3/5): Poor -
- Cedric (9/5): really nice stay cosy bungalows and loved the thermal bassins -
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic pools with lots of different pools at different temperatures. Loved the fact we could stay all day after we checked out. The restaurant onsite was very reasonable and had good food. The kids declared this the best activity for our holiday! The room was very small but to be honest we hardly spent any time in it. Our room was the furthest away and we didn't get WiFi in our room which was a bit annoying
- Evan (10/5): Exceptional - Location, and thermal pools are amazing. Rooms are small. But the value is definitely there with this place.
- Kristen (5/5): Passable - The pools and surrounding landscaping was wonderful! I loved the variety of pool temperatures including the hot spring fed ones. I like the container idea for rooms. There was no hot water in our bathroom even after reporting it. The beds were not good, sheets wouldn't stay put. Tiny bathrooms but it's a container so expected.
- Bramm (9/5): Absolutely beautiful place to stay and soak in the incredible pools while taking in views - Incredible hot and cold pools, ideal for a day of relaxing. Excellent, affordable food on site at the two restuaraunts. No Wifi except in room. Must leave property to smoke. Small smoking area could be provided
- Ivana (8/5): Nice place with modest accomodation - Beautiful and clean pools, plenty of privacy in the poolside shelters, not too many people in the pools even during the weekend. Nice place with modest accommodation at a reasonable price.
- Mike (5/5): Passable -
- Merry (7/5): We would probably stay here again. Overall the pros outweighed the cons for us! - thermal pools were great, the water slide was pretty fun too!
It’s close to down town La Fortuna so the location is great. the mattress in the room we had needed to be replaced. extra towels for after using the thermal pools would’ve been great!
- Geovanny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (10/5): So lovely! - This was lovely! The photos do NOT do it justice. We arrived late and spent a few hours in the beautifully crafted hot spring pools of varying temperatures and sizes. They’ve done a wonderful job of making it feel natural and at having more secluded pools so you didn’t feel as though you were on top of anyone at any given moment. Wonderfully done. The rooms are containers and they’ve again done a lovely job of making you feel separate from other guests. Plenty of privacy in a small space. Clean and lovely simple decor. Comfy beds and a delicious breakfast brought to your room!
The gentlemen at the desk were lovely as well. Joking and very hospitable. Truly a wonderful experience. Thank you!
- Melany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Le (9/5): Wonderful! - Staff is very nice! Pools and Hotsprings
- Tri (9/5): The hotel staff are very nice - helping us a lot information - accommodation and Hotsprings combo nothing
- Md (6/5): Pleasant -
- Valerii (5/5): Passable -
- Thomas (8/5): A beautiful place that’s a work in progress. - The hot springs were lovely, with different pools with different vibes ranging from raucous warm pools for families and little romantic ones, to hot ones. beautiful and clean.
This place is a work in progress as there was active construction of new rooms and additional pools while people are enjoying what’s been completed. The rooms are all based on converted containers, which is cool but it does make for a long narrow floor plan.
breakfast was great! it’s also a day trip place that tourists come to and the pools wee only open 9-9. I would have lied it better if they sent the etourists home at 8 and left the pools open for guests till midnight or so. More English speaking .staff could help too.
- Marvin (10/5): We really have a amazing time with my family, we enjoy all the hot pool. - Everything was wonderful like an oasis The ants and the slide for the kids i lol dangerous.
- Eli (7/5): Was a great experience and perfect to relax - I liked the containers and the bathroom.
All the pools are spectacular
The private “chozas”
The cleaning of the pools. The dining room and refrigerator outside the container. And also the lack of security to enter the hotel and to the rooms. I think than the restaurant have to be part of the hotel, not to be outside.
