- Donna (9/5): - Great little homestay in the village outside Kratie.
Clean and comfortable Nothing
- Marialuisa (10/5): Perfect! Like at home - Nous avons passé un excellent séjour.
- Sartre (10/5): - Simple and super clean, close to a local market and 1km from the heart of kratie
- Claudia (9/5): Friendly clean guest house with nice location and great pizza - The location right by the river in a residential neighborhood was nice- great sunset view from the triple room. The owner Dary is friendly and welcoming. Had a lot of information about tourist activities. Her pizzas are fantastic! A nice change from typical menu.Ice cold beer mugs. The stairs are steep and no rails- could be tricky for people with bad knees. The WiFi was tricky, as well as the typical Asian shower for those not accustomed to.
- Dylan (10/5): Dary is an amazing host you should stay here! - The rooms were comfortable and clean. Dary and her family were excellent hosts and chatted to us about our plans for our time in Kratie. She arranged a kayak tour for us with a local guide which was great. Also the fried veggie noodles were the best I have had in my time in South East Asia. Dary’s mother is an excellent cook and the food was also very affordable. I liked everything about this property.
- Tom (9/5): -
- Robyn (9/5): Charming guesthouse in a local village - A charming new guesthouse in a local village just outside the main city of Kratie - but walking distance to everything you need. Dary was very helpful while we there, assisting us in organising Dolphin watching trips and onward travel to Siem Reap. The room was very clean and comfortable, we would happily visit again. Although not a problem for us, our room (7) had a pump that could be a bit noisy at times, so maybe not the best for very light sleepers. Breakfast was not the cheapest, and could benefit from including tea/coffee, but we were suprised to receive a whole fresh baguette with our Omelette so were very well fed for the money!
- Daniella (10/5): Great stay! - Nice owners, good food in their restaurant, helpful booking tours and onwards travels. Can rent scooters and bikes.
Chatty friendly lady who owns the place and it’s set in a village a short walk into town along the seafront mainly so flat A bit loud in the mornings so neat to bring ear plugs if you don’t want to be woken early, otherwise it’s a great alarm clock!
- Hai (10/5): -

- Olaf (7/5): -
- Muriel (9/5): Prima - Gezellig tussen de lokale bevolking. Gastvrouw is erg behulpzaam en betrokken.
- Robyn (9/5): Relaxing among friendly people and place - Comfortable, extremely clean, caring staff, and great being a part of village life.
- James (10/5): - This place is a gem. My room was spacious and I had excellent service at all times from Dary, who is clearly embedded in the local community. I was also able to rent a bike and organise a dolphin kayaking tour with a local guide through her. I ate several times at the guesthouse too - everything was delicious.
Merci Dary !
- Coralie (9/5): -
- Fabio (9/5): - The place is spotless.
The room and bathrooms are spacious.
Dary is helpful.
The structure is not fancy (I don't think there are fancy structures in Kratie) but covers well all the basics, and the value for money is great. The position is not great, factor in a walk or a tuktuk to reach the center.
- Ron (8/5): -
- Diana (10/5): -
- Marie (10/5): - Dary is very helpful. She arranged a tour for us at a very reasonable price and rented me a bicycle.
The place is very pleasant, quiet and clean, and the pizza wa surprisingly delicious!
- Frank (10/5): - Great view of the Mekong from the balcony. Nice "colonial-style"-architecture. A small fridge in the room would be great
- Florian (9/5): Good place to experience real Cambodian village life - Very nice little guesthouse in the middle of a village with typical village life all around. Very helpful and pleasant hosts. Good food. Room was large and had all the facilities needed. Nothing
- Arnold (10/5): - Zeer vriendelijke ontvangst.
- Nicola (9/5): - The room was huge and very clean. The guesthouse is located in the village and is quiet but characterful. Nothing to note
- Achim (9/5): Friendly guesthouse with great food in an authentic neighborhood - Dary is a great and lovely host. The guesthouse is in great shape, designed very well and well cared for. Room and bathroom were clean and everything worked very well. Breakfast and dinner options were great (make sure to try the Khmer Curry and their Pizza!). Dary rents out bikes and can arrange tours (we did the dolphin kayaking tour with her friend and it was fantastic!). She also helped us book the Minibus to Siem Reap.
There's an interesting local market next to the guesthouse. Restaurants and shops are a bit further away but you can get everything you need in the guesthouse (food and drinks). You'll also get water from mini markets if you walk around the neighborhood a bit. ATMs are quite a bit away (20-30min walk) - we recommend the Canadia Bank ATM at the Mekong Promenade which worked very well and had the option of US dollars or Riels. We liked that the guesthouse is in a small street with lots of local people, which means you can see Cambodian every-day-life.
We really enjoyed our stay at Dary's and would definitely stay there again. Wifi was very slow. The toilet seat was a bit out of place - not a deal breaker but a bit weird.
- Nick (9/5): Great stay with a great host - Dary was the perfect host, she couldn’t do enough for you. She helped to arrange some activities for me as well as my onward travel to Laos.
The place was very clean and the food was tasty as well as being great value. N\A
- Andrea (10/5): A peaceful and authentic spot, near to the center - We only stayed one night at Dary’s Village Guesthouse & Restaurant, but the experience was truly excellent. The property is new, well-maintained, and spotlessly clean. The on-site restaurant offers tasty dishes and good service. One of the biggest strengths is the girl who manages the guesthouse—she’s very friendly, speaks excellent English, and is always ready to help. It’s the perfect place for those seeking peace and an authentic glimpse of Cambodia, while still being within easy reach of the city. The location might be a bit inconvenient for travelers who want to walk everywhere. The guesthouse is slightly outside the city center and requires a short ride down an unpaved road to reach it. The center is about a 5-minute TukTuk ride away, so renting a scooter or relying on local transport is recommended. It’s not ideal for those looking to explore entirely on foot, but it’s a great option for anyone wanting to stay in a more authentic, less touristy area without being too far from the main attractions.
- Piccolo (9/5): Perfect stay at Dary's village guesthouse - Dary is a wonderful person who cares about the customers. The room with AC was big enough for all of us and the matresses was so comfy. Foods was great and our daughter enjoyed helping Dary to Cook.
The guesthouse is well located into a authentic village.
We really appreciate the deep chat with Dary.
I recommend 100% this homestay
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed here for 3 nights and it was a really nice experience. Dary, the owner, she is very nice and helpful.
The room was spacious and clean, with a big bathroom and AC. The bed was comfortable and big.
You can sit on the terrace and watch the village people pass by and doing their life. Its a really nice experience.
The market is just around the corner and there are a few shops also. To go in the city you can either go by walk or rent a motorbike or a bicycle.
- Stella (10/5): Amazing Place to Stay! 10/10 stars!! - Everything! Dary has very big and extremely clean rooms. They are very well equipped with a nicely working AC and comfortable bed + nice shelf to put clothes. The bathroom is also super super clean (one of the cleanest during our whole travel), it smells nice and has a „real“ shower (no wet bathroom).
The highlight is probably Dary and talking to her. We chatted with her every day and she gave us so many insights about her life and the rural village and how it is to grow up in Cambodia. It was super nice and interesting to learn more about the local life and to be able to ask her questions. Her English is great so communication is very easy. She also organised a Kayak tour for us (with Mekong Kayak Discovery) which we enjoyed a lot and can totally recommend!
She also has a very nice scooter and proper helmets which you can rent for a small amount and look at all the things she recommends to you :)
Her mum is also very cute and the food was suuuuper delicious! We ate here almost all the time. Her husband is also super kind and gave us one of his DEET mosquito sprays as we were heading off to Mondulkiri next and I was afraid of Malaria there.
We wholeheartedly recommend coming here :) we would definitely come back if we visit Kratie again :)
- Ben (10/5): My favourite part of Cambodia thanks to Dary and the community - Dary is an exceptional host and person who works very hard and helps her local community a lot. Staying here honestly was the best experience i had in Cambodia, giving me a much stronger understanding of Cambodian life, while also having great experiences like a solo dolphin kayaking experience (with the great guide Phea Rom who gave me a brilliant picture of river life in Kratie than a standard tour company- I also saw many dolphins!). Dary and her mother are great cooks too.
Dary also sorted me out a bicycle, and she introduced me to friends who gave a much better picture of Kratie life than standard tour companies- which was exactly what i was looking for.
Honestly come here because you really get a really authentic picture of Cambodia and how the local area benefits from tourism from talking to Dary and her husband. The area is much more “village like” compared to the centre of town but it’s honestly nicer for it, the people are lovely.
Facilities also super clean and lovely, room in great condition.
- Taya (10/5): Exceptional - My time with Dary was something most can only dream of. From the minute I got there Dary was very welcoming and made me feel at home straight away. She shared so many wonderful stories with me about the village where the guesthouse is located which she grew up in. The village is alive and it was such a good experience to feel so immersed in true Khmer culture. Dary is an exceptional woman and it was an honour to support her and spend my time with her. The room I stayed in was very clean and food was delicious 10/10 stay :)
- Spencer (10/5): Exceptional - The location was close to the city while feeling like the middle of the small village. The guesthouse itself is great - clean, quiet, and cozy. The owners are both a dream to interact with.
- Filip (10/5): Exceptional - Hospitality and kindness of owners :)
- Connor (10/5): Exceptional - Dary so so helpful, I needed to Vietnam the next night and she helped me get everything from a bus to a tuktuk to the border. Helped get a kayaking tour and motorbike rental. The room was great and the bathroom/shower wonderful.
- Julia (10/5): In our opinion a must stay if you’re in this area .. we loved it. - We had a fabulous two nights in this wonderful homestay on the back streets and just out of the city of Kratie. You are close to the Mekong river and in the center of village life giving you a true insight into the daily lives of the local people. Dary is a fabulous host who really goes out of her way to make sure you have the best stay in her home. The family have worked extremely hard to provide clean spacious rooms with en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning to keep you cool. The food is excellent, the quality and quantity whether you eat Asian or western we would highly recommend you eat with her, you won’t be disappointed. Dary has excellent English and we enjoyed many a conversation with her about her upbringing in the village. Dary also can help you with tours and places to visit, being local she has the contacts and was a great help to us and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour we planned with her. This place is a perfect location to visit the must sees in this area, the accommodation is warm, welcoming and of high quality as you have a wonderful host who really wants you to enjoy your holiday/travel experience. We would highly recommend you stay here if visiting this area.
- Ernesto (10/5): The best accommodations in kratie - Very nice guesthouse a bit outside from kratie, but definitely better than the rest of the accommodations you can find in the city. Dary was extremely nice and always ready to help you with anything.
You will be surrounded by local life and enjoy the sunset on the Mekong just in front of it.
You can rent scooters, organize day tour to see the dolphins or book a bus for your next destination.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nawel (10/5): Best accomodation in Don Det - Best accomodation in Don Det
- Su (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place in a great location.
She is so so friendly and happy to spend time telling you about the local area.Im sure she helps out so many travellers along the way. That ididn't find this place sooner and only got 1 night here.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stefan (10/5): Dive into the authentic village experience with the comfort of your own home. - Dary is the most welcoming and caring host - she got you sorted in Kratie. Plus you can enjoy her signature crusty & delicious pizza 🍕 The rooster next door 🐓 haha - It’s a true village experience with the comfort of a modern hotel. A fantastic and unique experience!
- Aron (9/5): Great guesthouse in Kratie with fantastic host - Dary was a fantastic host. She helped us with whatever we needed, and shared story’s about herself and the town of Kratié. We were able to rent bicycles and take the ferry to the island. There are also two cats! A little walk from the town, but not an issue.
- Pevan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is brand new with great attention to detail
- Theresa (10/5): Exceptional - Where do I start, Dary is heartwarming, curious and doing a lot to support a very poor community, she has a very nice place in the village and a lot of stories to tell, the rooms are very nice and clean we felt very much at home with her.
- Margaux (10/5): Really nice place ! - Really nice room, very clean ! Really nice owner ! Guest house not located in the center but really close, 5/10 min with a bicycle ! I recommend this place !
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely accommodation, Dary was super helpful and her Mum was just a sweetie and a superb cook.
I was poorly one day so not eating, Dary brought a kettle to our room with fresh ginger and lemon. So kind of her, lovely stay. Nothing we extended our stay.
- Stevens (10/5): A lovely oasis on the doorstep of a real community - Spotlessly clean and new guesthouse run by the delightful & ever-helpful Dary.
Amazing home cooked food: local food sourced locally; quality imported food for the more western choices (like the delicious pizza).
Kratie is a properly local town with no pretentions; a great base to see the dolphins, visit the island, walk through the small local market (you can hire bikes and scooters from Dary too, or arrange trips and tuk tuks). We loved witnessing the slice of real Cambodian life, though understand some might find it too up close and personal.
- Daniel (10/5): Fantastic place to stay with amazing host 😁 - Fantastic 🤩 place.. Dary is an amazing host, speaks excellent English and I'm pretty sure is the best cook in kratie! The food there is gorgeous both local and western dishes. The rooms are modern and very clean. We had a very comfortable 3 night stay and would definitely come and stay again. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Thank you Dary Nothing it was excellent 👍
- Hay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elias (10/5): Amazing place to stay in Kratie if you like it more quiet. - Separate Showers, nice recommendations, local morning market nearby
- Tina (9/5): Lovely new property close to Mekong - Property was very new which was nice, facilities very clean and comfortable. It’s about 30 min walk from the bus station, however this was not an issue as there is a lovely riverside walk or you can hire bikes. Lovely sunset over the Mekong on your doorstep. Owners arranged bike hire and took me to the night bus, they were also very helpful with local knowledge. Nothing
- Reif (10/5): Fantastic experience, Dary runs a wonderful guesthouse - Wonderful room, clean and modern, great faculties and Dary and her staff are so sweet, not only this but the food she cooks is exceptional. There really isn’t anything, it was refreshing to be in a homely quiet guesthouse with a great community, I would love to return
- Felix (10/5): Exceptional - Dary’s guesthouse is a fantastic place to stay. It’s a modern building constructed in 2023, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. The host, Dary, is the kindest person you’ll ever meet. She goes above and beyond to make her guests happy. We had many fascinating conversations with her and learned a wealth of information about Cambodia, Kratie, and herself. I ate a couple of times at the guesthouse and the food is fresh and tastes very nice.
The guesthouse is located a bit further away from the city center (15-30min). However, the walk along the Mekong is very pleasant. Alternatively, you can rent bikes at the guesthouse or order a TukTuk (around 2$). During the day (never at night), it can be a bit loud when the close-by woodworking shop is cutting planks.
- Jan (10/5): Architectural gem with lovely hosts - 👩 Dary, the host! She was amazing :) She helped us with everything we needed: Scooter rental, kayak tour, laundry, transport, recommendations of places to visit, etc. She was also open to share her personal history with us which gave us a deeper insight into real life in Cambodia.
🛏 The room was great. It was big, clean, had natural light. The bathroom was spacious and clean and even had a shower separation.
❄️ The AC! This was the best AC we have had throughout our 4 months in Southeast Asia. The air didn't feel too dry and set to the right temperature, it was neither too cold nor too warm. This is something very rare for us. 📍 The only thing someone could dislike about this place is that it's a little outside of the city. We actually didn't mind it at all as we had a scooter. And this way, we got to see another part of town :)
- Anna (9/5): Superb - Dary is adorable, she really does the best to make everyone feel comfortable
- Chappard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Flavia (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at Dary‘s Village Guesthouse & Restaurant. Our room was very spacious and clean. The guesthouse is situatrd in the village where Dary grew up so you get to experience the authentic life of the people and kids there and can also try the food at the local market just around the corner. Dary is such a beautiful person inside and out. If you’re interested she will also tell you a lot about her life and the life of the people in her village. The food her mom and Dary herself are preparing is delicious. If you are up for some activities or need support to organise your transport, Dary will arrange everything for you. Thanks for making our stay unforgettable! We already miss you! 💕
- Craig (10/5): Dary’s was always going out of her ways to help you. She has some great connections that visitors should use to get a re - Location was great, Dary’s was so welcoming as soon as you arrived.
- Tracy (8/5): A little gem in a real Cambodian village, but 3 minutes from town. - The location is wonderful, in a real Cambodian village, not in the town but 3 min tuk tuk away $2. Fascinating to watch people going about their lives, shopping at the daily market, with dried fish and fruit spread on mats on the ground. Seeing their houses/wooden and tin huts mostly, without being intrusive. The bed in the apartment was rock hard. SE Asian beds often are though.
Dary is a wonderful host, but the food prices are equal to those in hotels. Part of the charm is that this isn't a hotel though.
- Jack (10/5): Great place, which I recommend to everyone - Everything was absolutely perfect:
- Location among local people
- Super nice room
- Nice view of the Mekong from the top floor
- Dary was super helpful
- Located to a local market, where you can enjoy breakfast in the morning
- Attention from Dary to local people Nothing!!
I should come back for sure.
- Rebekah (8/5): Lovely, warm atmosphere with a very comfy room. We even came back to stay here a second time. - Very clean room with a nice lemongrass scent when we arrived. Dary is very friendly and helpful. The bed and bedding are very comfortable, with a nice thick duvet. The pizzas are very yummy. The location is nice and close to the riverside. It's a bit noisy around the guesthouse which is understandable as it is in a normal residential community, but within the guesthouse, you can very clearly hear anyone who is talking in the front restaurant area. The breakfast was also a bit basic for $5.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - This is really a gem that sticks out to your standard homestay and guesthouses. I've been in countless in Asia and this was one of the best. The host Dary is amazing. She is friendly, helpful and has a lot of interesting stories to tell. She loves to talk and you can sit with her and her husband in the evening to share stories about how she grew up and about life in this Village.
Rooms are big, Clean, big bathrooms.
All kinds of services available, bus Transport, motorbike and bike rental, dolphin tours.
Cant recommend this enough. If you go to Kratie this is the place.
- Stéphane (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable room, we had a pleasant stay. If you want to be more into the local village this Guesthouse is well located. The western food at the restaurant was expensive for what it was. We recommend the local food. We were disappointed to pay extra fee for the bus to Mondulkiri compared to the price in the other guesthouses.
- Jade (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helena (10/5): Great in every way! - Loved living so close to the local community. Walking through the market in the morning was fabulous. Dary is a great hostess who is generous with both information and service.
