• Renee (10/5): Hidden gem in Ollantaytambo - The Full Moon EcoLodge is a hidden gem in Ollantaytambo! My partner and I stayed here two nights, our first night in Peru and another night between finishing Choquequirao and visiting Machu Picchu the next day. The staff was incredibly accommodating, allowing a late-night booking with a midnight check-in and a flexible check-out. We would definitely stay again. Both rooms we stayed in were delightful. A king-sized bed with comfy chairs and a small table made for a relaxing space. Stepping out onto the private balcony, I was greeted by a view of the mountains and the rushing river (or perhaps a stream?). The sound of the water was like natural white noise, making for a peaceful sleep. The private bathroom had everything you need: a hot shower, fresh towels, and soap. Plus, a window offered another glimpse of the mountain vista. Everything was impeccably clean, and the warm blankets were perfect for the cool mountain nights. There were even convenient outlets on both sides of the bed, a thoughtful touch. The location in Ollantaytambo's old town was fantastic. Cobblestone paths added to the charm, and I felt safe even walking around at night. Although situated next to another lodge, the Full Moon EcoLodge remained wonderfully quiet. It was just a 5-minute walk from the main plaza, offering a perfect balance of privacy and convenience. This hidden gem had no reviews on booking.com, so I booked based on a friend's recommendation. I'm so glad I did! The staff even arranged a last-minute taxi to the train station for the Perurail trail with just a quick message. Overall, the Full Moon EcoLodge offered a quiet, serene, and peaceful stay with incredibly friendly staff. The price was excellent for the value! I would definitely recommend this lodge and will be sure to stay here again. I liked everything
