KATARZYNA (10/5): - Piękne miejsce na pobyt. Czyste pokoje i wygodne łóżka. Na posesji znajduje się basen i miejsce do przygotowania posiłków. Oddalona od plaży 10 minutowym spacerem. Łatwo dostać się do najpiękniejszych plaż w pobliżu Conchal czy Flamingo.
Lenka (10/5): - Velká pohodlná postel, funkční klimatizace, dobrá wifi, krásný bazén v nádherně upravené zahradě. Všude čisto, každodenní péče je opravdu vidět. Hostitelka Susan byla velmi vstřícná a vlídná. Společná kuchyň je poněkud menší, ale našli jsme vše, co bylo potřeba, takže spokojenost. Děkujeme.

Man fühlt sich sofort willkommenen und wohl. Susan hat uns alles ausführlich erklärt und war für Fragen offen. Strand und Restaurants fussläufig erreichbar. Abends hat uns die hauseigene Katze Gesellschaft geleistet. Wir haben uns so wohl gefühlt dass wir gerne noch verlängert hätten aber leider ausgebucht. Danke für die schönen Tage

Beautifully maintained landscaping that provides a feeling of seclusion. Very clean and well kept rooms. I couldn’t possibly say enough good things about Susan, the property manager. She is the BEST! This is my third stay at Mar Y Posa and I highly recommend!

This was definitely the best place we stayed in out of 6 places we visited in Costa Rica. Our room was beautiful and a lot of thought had been given to what we might need, i.e., lounger cushions, wraps, bottles of water on arrival as well as more usual facilities, i.e., air conditioning and fridge. The bed was very comfortable. The garden and pool are awesome! Susan was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Nothing, however, the outdoor kitchen would benefit from a little update

We enjoyed the pool and the room was comfortable - lovely big bed! Potrero beach is good for walking along and there’s a lot of restaurants to eat at - all within walking distance. Playa Flamingo and the Marina nearby are beautiful to visit by car. A kettle in the room would have been handy; there is a fridge in the room - but there is a little communal kitchen outside if needed.

The kitchen is very limited- I’m not sure it can be advertised as a shared kitchen. It’s a small shed with a stove and some plastic plates etc.

Franz (10/5): Amazing relaxation days - The place was in good condition and it was exactly as it looked in the pictures, some places use pictures where the place looks better than in reality but this wasn't the case and we loved the place. Susan is really friendly and willing to help you with questions you might have. It is located a few blocks from Potrero beach and restaurants in town and close to other more beautiful beaches like Brasilito, Conchal and Puerto Viejo. For sure you will want to visit them too. The room had everything we needed, I can't give feedback about the small kitchen because we didn't use it but it seemed good enough. This was our first time there and we highly recommend Mar y Posa. It is safe and calm if you want to relax, I bet you will like it. Just make sure to check with Susan how cleaning works, we didn't talk about it we were not sure how that worked. Not blaming her, just suggesting future guests to check on that.

Wagner (10/5): It was comfortable and peaceful. - We liked that we were the only ones there. We like the possibilities of sharing it with a group of friends that we know. We loved the pool, the howler monkeys, the King sized bed and the kind hostess. We wouldn’t have liked sharing the space with strangers as they are all facing in towards the pool (but that didn’t happen). We overall loved it.

Susan was so kind and helpful, assisting us with organising our further transport to las Catalinas. Only thing was the road works outside but that's completely out of their control and will mean better roads for future guests!

Walking distance to food, coffee, and beach. - We loved that Casita Mar y Posa is a smaller, more intimate little community. It was nice to have it feel private and more quiet, but with a perfect oasis equipped with a clean pool, comfortable seating, and gorgeous landscaping/plants. The staff was very helpful & personable, but made sure the mornings stayed quiet so guests could sleep in. Super minor note: if you plan to do lots of cooking, the kitchen is limited/small. But it is there & does the job for any small cooking needs or a few meals during your stay along with a grill!

Susan went above and beyond assisting me with all I needed and her husband was a happy, friendly face tending to things around the cosy complex. I had a lovely extended stay and it was great value also! Nothing, it had everything needed.

Shaded seating areas were great. Amenities were great, nice towels, comfortable king size bed, good shower. Ability to do simple cooking and make coffee in the small outside kitchen was appreciated. Proximity to nice beaches good, as long as you have a car or bicycle. Room was very clean. Outdoor kitchen facility was basic and a little rough.
Alejandro (10/5): Lovely Hotel in Potrero Beach - This was my second visit to this beautiful small hotel in Potrero Beach and for sure I will be back again. The room was spotless clean and the bed was big and comfortable. The hostess, Susan, is really nice and she will make sure everything will go by the book. The location is excellent and the neighbourhood really safe. This hotel is located just 5 min away (walking distance) from the beach. On the other hand, Flamingo beach (one of my favourites) is just 5 min away by car. Excellent place to stay to enjoy Potrero and Flamingo The air conditioner in room #3 is a little noisy

All restaurants, bars, supermarkets, pharmacies and tour companies are just two blocks away. Playa Flamingo is just 5 minutes away by car. The room was big and beautifully arranged. The owner (Susan) is a very nice lady and she is such an amazing hostess. I will definitively be back to this place.

Susan is very nice and will give you all the information you need. You can see that the place is full of amazing details. There are a lot of extras for the guest's convenience like an extra set of towels, cups, books, amazingly fluffy towels in the room... The pool is very clean and super nice, also you can cook in the cute little kitchen. The room is spacious and very clean, the AC works perfectly. It is very quiet in the room, you cannot hear the neighbours. The wifi is over the top great, my friend had to give an online class and had even better wifi than at home - perfect for work. We were sad that we only booked the place for two nights and would 100% recommend!

Mel (7/5): It’s a reasonably good economical option but do understand what you’re getting and not getting here - The rooms are in good condition and very clean. The manager, Susan, is very nice and went out of her way to be helpful to us. There was little she could do about the large group take-over. The location is very quite good—pretty quiet (unless other guests are noisy which they were during our stay!) but a short walk to restaurants and the beach. This is not a full service hotel but more of an AirBnB-style self-serve situation (except just a room). There is no daily room servicing but the room was cleaned once during our one week stay, though, and we got fresh towels a couple of times. Also, there have been some changes worth noting. First and foremost I was looking forward to the amazing breakfast that older reviews rave about but this place has changed owners and there is no breakfast served! Another fairly significant change is that the 3 bd.rm. house on the property (and it’s not a large lot!) is no longer occupied by the owner or manager but is rented out. The pool is the size of a small home pool and there are 8 chairs—clearly designed to accommodate the four original rental rooms—but there are now potentially several more people using the space and it’s just too small. Unfortunately when we arrived there were two couples in the house who were later joined by three more couples (two in the individual rooms) and they took over the pool completely, talking loudly and playing music. They made no efforts to be friendly or make room for us—very irritating. This is not directly the fault of the owner/manager and I’m sure that some of the people who rent the house are more friendly and considerate, but this group impacted us a lot and disrupted the otherwise peaceful setting.

Josefin (10/5): Exceptional - A small place with only 4 rooms (and a house). The rooms were very nice! Comfortable soft beds. Comfortable pillows. Safe. Fridge with complementary 2 water bottles. Big bathroom with plenty of hot water. Nice pool. Lovely surroundings with animal visitors in the form of a hummingbird and a group of monkeys to our delight! We would absolutely come back! It was a bit of a walk to the beach. Totally OK for our teens but maybe not for younger children.

Rachel (9/5): Beautiful oasis by the sea - This was a peaceful oasis that was perfect for our two night stay by the beach - 10 minutes walk to Playa Potrero, a short cab ride to Flamingo (we managed to get Ubers no problem). Very good supermarket, great brewery/taproom and excellent cafe (The Shack) all very nearby. We didn't have a car but never felt we needed one. Susan was a very welcoming and laid back host, the pool was very welcome in the hot weather and the room was sparkling clean and beautifully put together with all the little details considered. Thanks for a great stay. There was really nothing I disliked, but I would say that perhaps it could be clearer how to 'check in' when you arrive as we weren't sure if anybody was on site (it turned out they were!). I also thought bathroom bins could be emptied daily due to not being able to flush toilet paper (standard in CR), although appreciate that they don't like to come into rooms without permission and I feel certain this is something I could have requested had I known as Susan was such a flexible host. Maybe something to ask guests on check-in?

Harrison (9/5): Superb - Surfside Mar Y Posa was an awesome stay. The location was nice and quiet, and the rooms were super spacious and comfortable. WiFi was nice a quick as well. Susan was a great host who provided us with an awesome booklet on things to do and good restaurants in the area. Thank you Susan :) ! The location was close to a handful of restaurants in the area as well as the beach. If you have a car, there are a bunch more great beaches that are a quick drive away (Conchal was amazing and our clear favourite during our whole stay in Costa Rica). When you first arrive at the property, it isn't super apparent where to check-in as the gate is locked, and there are no signs to tell you how to check-in/doorbell to get anyone's attention to do so. Once in, everything went smoothly, but improving the process on check-in would help in reducing confusion on what to do when you first arrive.
Sadie (10/5): Exceptional - The room was lovely and the garden was incredible! We saw toucans, hummingbirds and coatis coming and going while we swam in the pool and hung out in the hammocks. The food places in the immediately surrounding area are quite pricey and not very Costa Rican, but when we walked into the older part of Portrero we found cheaper and nicer places.

Nicole (9/5): Great! - It was a excellent value, very clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Also, the host was excellent with communication. The location is listed as Playa Flamingo, however it is really the next town over in Potrero. Potrero is better for restaurants and boat trips but the beach is much nicer in Playa Flamingo, so it depends what your there for.
