Guest Reviews
- Thurstan (6/5): - Nice location Bad parking choices.
Cottage heating
- Mrs M (9/5): Exceptional good value for money - Very homely and well equipped kitchen, home away from home. Fabulous surroundings in the countryside. I will recommend đ this without hesitation. Just a minor of only the heating wasn't warm enough, but thankfully, it wasn't mid winter.
- David (9/5): - It's such a lovely, quiet location. Cottage was close enough to Heathrow for us to meet family arriving from NZ. It broke their long journey before travelling to County Durham. We spent a day at Whipsnade zoo, which was only 10mins away. Full filled our needs perfectly. Nothing
- Cathy (9/5): Superb - Was able to accommodate the whole family. Lovely country location. The bed and pillows were not to our liking. Suffered neck issues as pillows were not the best quality. The kitchen wasn't fully equipped, would have like some storage containers for leftovers. No Chromecast.
- Davey (8/5): Peaceful and comfortable. Near where we wanted to be but felt in middle of nowhere!! - Very quiet, rural location. Squeaky floorboards! Not a biggie though!
- Hilary (9/5): Comfy holiday cottage with 3 bedrooms - Sunny spring weekend was a lovely place to stay - went for a 5.5 mile walk from the front door as well as a visit to Ashridge Estate National Trust.
- Victoria (7/5): Nice cottage - Hot water system in the shower is no good, and there was no plug for the bath. The bedrooms are nice and great kitchen-is just the bathroom, which lets it down. Lots of fun games to play
- Neil (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (8/5): Very good - Thos is a lovely little house to stay in in a beautiful area. Well equipped, spotless and really sweet. I would highly recommend Parking could be difficult bit as it was xmas time we could park in nursery car park
- Lynda (10/5): A lovely, cosy, well equipped cottage with something for everyone. - The cottage was lovely and cosy in early February and is surprisingly spacious for a cottage - plenty of room for 4 adults and a dog. We appreciated all of the equipment available throughout the cottage, from the nespresso machine to the spacious fridge freezer in the kitchen and the books, games and leaflets about the local area in the living room. There are also things we would have liked to have used (like the bread machine in the kitchen) but just didn't have time to! We were also impressed by the efficiency of a local takeaway whose driver had no difficulty finding the cottage late one evening! There was parking nearby which was much appreciated. I particularly liked the frosty Sunday morning view across the fields and one of our party enjoyed a bit of bird spotting in the garden.
- Adam (8/5): Very comfortable weekend despite the bad weather. -
- Neil (8/5): Nice little cottage in a quiet area - Beds very cosy
Good value for money A little far out of the way as we were working 35 min drive away
Wasnât the warmest had to use the electric fires on an evening in the back bedroom and up stairs attic .
- Rebecca (8/5): Peaceful, cosy and charming house - I was staying on business so used this as a base for Ashridge house. I did not get to explore the area but I really enjoyed my stay, it felt like a home from home, it was very traditional and I liked that it looked lived in with art, books, games and ornaments. I visited in November and it was very cosy, warm and clean. It was a really peaceful location with good wifi and lots of kitchen utensils. The kitchen was well stocked, I really liked that there were spices, sauces, tea, coffee and your basics cleaning materials to hand. It was a charming house. The parking situation is bad, that needs to be clearer before booking to manage expectations. I was given instructions before arrival but when I arrived it was really dark so I couldnât see any milestones mentioned and it took me a while to find the house as I had to park out of the way and there were no outside lights on to show the property. I ended up knocking and asking someone for help. The towels arenât big enough, I was given a hand towel that didnât fit round my head. and a small the bath towel that failed to cover my modesty. I couldnât find any spares floating around. The toilet roll reminded me of the bad quality ones from a school. Small details but easy fixes to make the experience better for the cost.
- Annie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, quiet, clean, and had everything we needed to celebrate 25 years of friendship. I understand the cottage is old, but the floorboards are too creaky, especially on the landing near the back bedroom. With every move during the night, I felt I was disturbing my friend.
- Bradford (9/5): Superb - The cottage was lovely, big bed for the master room, which was nice. mattress was a bit too soft for my liking, but my husband loved the space due to the size . The location was ideal for the zoo we went to only 9 minutes away. Parking became a bit of a nightmare.
- Clare (10/5): Gorgeous cottage in a lovely peaceful location. Excellent !! - Quiet, charming location. Fully equipped for everything you might need. Cottage stunning and full of character with a beautiful garden. Nothing to dislike - just perfect.
- Wendy (8/5): Family break - Lovely cottage. Great area to use as a base.
Has all the modern conveniences. Dishwasher ect
WiFi was very good.
Cleanliness was good. Property smelt musty on arrival. Think it comes up from the cellar.
Shower temperature is very temperamental. Found it very difficult to get the right temperature and then it didn't last long.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antony (10/5): Excellent - Nice and clean had everything we needed There is nothing bad about this property
- Martyn (9/5): Lovely terraced cottage in the countryside - Lovely cottage in the countryside with attractive bee theme. Nice walk near by. In the takeoff noise zone of London Luton Airport so a 6am wake up for me each day as I am a light sleeper. Why we as a society tolerate this noise is question to ask.
- Ann (7/5): Good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -

- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage, nice bedrooms with comfortable beds, very clean and well equipped, cute little garden overlooking fields.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - Such a lovely clean home. Very large comfortable beds and the house was nice and warm. The host went above and beyond to accommodate us with flexible checking times which was especially helpful when travelling with a 5 month old. I also accidentally Ieft a few things behind which he kindly posted back to me. Very responsive and lovely to deal with 5*s.
- Jones (9/5): Cosy country cottage - Lovely cosy cottage in the countryside. Well equipped and comfortable. Kids loved the attic room. Ideal for our family getaway and convenient to get to Harry Potter studios by car which was the purpose of our stay.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - Lovely comfy cottage, was ideal for a few nights Parking isnât great, especially if you come home late
- Andrew (7/5): Good - Nice views with good room in the bedrooms. Just some parking issues.
- Lozzy1986 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Farayi (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (10/5): A fabulous stay in a beautiful cottage! Thank you. - The house was lovely and beautifully presented by the owner. Everything we needed to know was clearly communicated well in advance. All we had to do was enjoy our stay which we did enormously! Thank you Paul, we had a fabulous time. Nothing.
- Lara (9/5): Lovely cottage in a good location for the region - Neat and comfortable cottage, with good amenities. A few lovely walking paths nearby and well located for things to do and places to eat in the region. One bathroom for 6 requires a little organisation.
- Ceri (10/5): Homely and comfortable and quiet - Itâs in a beautiful little hamlet with a quiet road in front. The layout of the cottage suits a family group as it has good seating space, a well equipped kitchen and back garden with horses in the field behind! There is only one toilet in the bathroom so a few slightly desperate waits as it is in the bathroom where the shower and bath are
- David (10/5): very pleasant very quiet all great - the location was fantastic nothing
- Hanson (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent all.round
- Sue (9/5): We had a great stay, cosy friendly cottage. Owner was very friendly & very helpful - Beautiful area
Comfy beds
Cosy atmosphere in cottage Very very hot water!!
