Guest Reviews
- Bastian (9/5): - Stayed there before and after my jungle trek.
They helped me organizing my trek with short notice and where very helpful. Pick-up from and drop-of to local bus.
Rooms are little huts which are basic but quite spacious in a Garden with monkeys closeby.
Really friendly staff and i enjoyed my time there.
- driftingeast.
- Luc (10/5): Amazing - We did the 3-day, 2-night jungle trek with Thomas Leaf Monkey and had an amazing experience. Our guides, Gerry and Sucky, were very caring and fun people who gave us an unforgettable time. We saw a lot of wildlife and truly enjoyed being surrounded by nature.
We also spent two nights at the Thomas Leaf Monkey guesthouse, where everyone was very kind and helpful. They made us feel extremely welcome. After the jungle trek, they even did our laundry (and cleaned our shoes!) and provided a great massage.
We highly recommend Thomas Leaf Monkey!

- Fenella (8/5): Fabulous experience - The staff were amazing The cold water in the shower

- Toni (9/5): - It’s a very quiet and pleasant place. The family cooks amazingly well,, their gado gado is incredibly good, honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. They prepare delicious Indonesian dishes, full of flavor.
The bed is also extremely comfortable. I’ve been traveling for four months, and it’s one of the best beds I’ve slept in so far.
Highly recommended
Douche alleen koud.
- Anna (9/5): Perfect - Nice bungalow, very kind and helpfull stuff
- Alexandra (10/5): Super!
- G.S.M. (10/5): I definitely would come here again - Beautiful place and very kind people. We liked it very much to be their guests. We did also a 4 days, 3 nights jungle tour with them and it exceeded all expectations.
Brian and his family are so warm and open, thecguides are dedicated and funny, food is excellent, in the restaurant and in the jungle. Nice place to sleep. I liked everything except the mosquitos
- KEVIN (7/5): simpler accom, quieter - - quieter location 200m back from riverside
- simple accom, A-frame room quite warm in day and until cools down
- Andrea (10/5): Unforgettable adventure 🦧 - I did the 3 days-2 nights jungle trekking with Thomas Leaf Monkey and it was amazing, one of my best experiences in nature.
Super-well organization: nice, respectful and english-speaking guides who were a great company for this adventure, with a huge knowledge of life in the jungle; delicious food (vegetarian and vegan options available, lots of fruits all the time) and great accommodation in the jungle.
The guesthouse is a quiet and beautiful place to chill before and after the trekking.
Also, they organize my transport to Bukit Lawang and from there to my next destination.
- Lucie (6/5): - Good location a bit outside the tourist centre of BL WiFi didn’t work at times, owner tried to over charge me for taxi, no hot water in shower and bathroom not great
- Rebecca (10/5): - The staff was so warm and welcoming. The 2D1N jungle trek was well organized with excellent food and cautious guides. Everyone always offered to help in some way. The room was basic but very clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was also good. I’d stay again for sure!
- Anna (9/5): - The place is very nice, clean, and well-decorated. The staff is very friendly and helpful! We also did the trek with them, and it was perfect.
We absolutelly recomend it.
- Franziska (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here!
When you book the accomodation, you can make the jungle trek here as well.
We did the tour with Mester, Lius and his team and it was a great time! Thank you guys :)
The whole staff at the guesthouse is very friendly. We would recommend staying here.
- Julia (9/5): -
- Tjoilina (8/5): Very good - only stayed for 1 night but the the stay was lovely. Nice big room, friendly staff and the food was delicious.
- Rohan (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy atmosphere and staff were super friendly and helpful. Was a pleasure meeting them and the food was great too! They helped organised everything for me including transfer from the airport and my next destination. The jungle trek was an amazing experience and booked through the accomodation which made it super simple. Had a brilliant stay here, unique environment and lovely staff made sure I had a great time.
- Phoebe (7/5): Thank you. Great easy place to stay before orangutan jungle trekking - Great staff, yummy breakfast and big menu options. Quite hot but room had a fan. Bathroom good but no hot water. Great place to stay but not near many places to eat.
- Pawtim (10/5): Exceptional and authentic place - Wonderful, authentic place with great, friendly owners family staff. Bryan, the owner of the place is a truly exceptional person with mind-blowing story of his live. Don't let his name mislead you - he is as "local" as nobody else in the village. Maybe he will tell you if you are sincerely interested. He takes care of everything, including the exceptional guides he hires. Rosit, who was our guide is a great guide and person. His assistant Gunawan was also very professional and helpful. We've had a wonderful experience there. Bryan, you have to rise the price for the bigger house. It's to low for the standard you offer ;) Wish you best bro.
- Clara (10/5): Exceptional - This guesthouse is truly a gem, Brian makes sure you have an amazing stay! You can tell he really cares about his guests. The room and bathroom are very clean and comfortable. The food is incredible too (plenty of vegan and vegetarian options)! I did a 2 night jungle trek with them as well and everything was very well organised, great food and fruit on the trek, comfortable campsites by the river and close to a waterfall. You could tell that the guide really enjoyed being in nature, he had so much knowledge about the animals and plants and made us feel really safe. I got a bee sting and he had magic oil that made the sting disappear in just 30 min! I had a really great stay and trek with Brian and his team and definitely recommend them and would definitely come back one day! :)
- Murielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kate (8/5): Excellent trek with excellent food! - Did the jungle trek with Rosit and Gunawang and thoroughly enjoyed! Lovely guides and Saw HEAPS of orangutans, and the dinners, cooked nightly by erowin are restaurant quality feasts - totally unexpected given we were in the middle of the jungle! Highly recommend. It’s worth noting that the expectation with Thomas leaf monkey guesthouse is that you book the jungle trek through them - I imagine this is the same with all accoms in Bukit lawang but just noting. That said the trek is great! Brian from Thomas leaf monkey guesthouse is very helpful and organised transport to/from Medan as well as trips to the ATM (which is 15min by scooter) from the village. Lovely family. Very noisy at night as big parties and a noisy road nearby.
- Santos (10/5): YOU HAVE TO LIVE THE JUNGLE EXPERIENCE WITH THEM - Bryan and his family run the guesthouse, and they are amazing. The bungalows are very comfortable, and the food is great. Bryan helps you with your jungle experience. I travel alone, and he was like a friend to me thank you, brother!
But the best part of all was Mester, the guide with I spent three days in the jungle. It was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, and it was all thanks to him. What a kind heart that man has! I love that guy ♥️
- Marco (10/5): Exceptional - All the staff will take care of you.
Amazing experience in the Jungle!!
- Ursula (10/5): Just what we were looking for in Bukit Lawang - We loved our stay here! The restaurant was amazing and the hosts were so helpful and kind. We also did the jungle trek with them and loved it. Our guide was really knowledgeable and tailored our experience to what we wanted to do.
- Louis (9/5): Superb - Bian is really helpful and always smiling, the food is really good 👍 beautiful place to stay.
- Erika (10/5): Lovely little family buisness - Staffis super friendly, bungalows are nice and clean all got own bathroom.. The place is in the middle of nature threes around and Thomas leaf monkeys everywhere around
- Gillian (10/5): These are good, hardworking people who deserve the highest accolades - I loved the family … nothing was too much trouble for them. The garden was a haven of peace. And the vegetable curry was amazing Brian has done a great job and still has plans to revamp the bathroom.
- Toby (10/5): Lovely stay in Bukit Lawang - The bed was very comfortable. Fast and affordable laundry service. Nice clean big room. Perfect for reorganising my stuff after a trek and getting some good shut eye. Also Brian and Sarah (owners) were super kind and helpful.
Plus great banana pancakes and coffee for breakfast Nothing. It was ideal
- Beth (10/5): A perfect stay in Bukit Lawang - This was a totally perfect stay in Bukit Lawang and if I could give this an 11 I would!
Brian and his family are all so helpful and kind, answering any questions we had and making us feel at home at their beautiful guest house. We arrived and Brian helped us organise a two day, one night jungle trek which completely exceeded all of our expectations. The team were extremely knowledgable about the rainforest, stopping to tell us not only about all the incredible animals, but also the fauna we saw on our way. The food both on the trek and at the guest house was delicious!
Can't recommend this place highly enough
- Raymond (10/5): A Wonderful Experience! - I had a wonderful experience at the Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Hotel. They helped to arrange everything for me. The jungle trek was great and we were fed so much food that we could not finish it all. Brian explained so many things to us and we got to see many animals.
- Emilija (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (8/5): Great owner, simple place to stay - Brian is a great owner who can tell you a lot about the village, cute houses, calm location The interior is very simplistic and feels a little cold, if you only stay overnight for the jungle tour (which I had at another place), I'm sure it is a great option
- Elaine (10/5): I highly recommend Thomas - I loved everything about the property. They went above and beyond in every way and I highly recommend the facility. Nothing
- Letizia (10/5): Exceptional - everything was lovely and everyone from the staff was kind and super nice nothing
- Lena (10/5): Exceptional - We booked the accommodation together with a 2D1N Jungletrekking. We were unable to move into the accommodation on the first evening as another guest who was ill was unable to leave the room. Instead, we were given a great room in another accommodation and were driven to dinner by Raja and Satya on a scooter and later back home again.
The next morning, we were driven to the Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse together with our luggage. Our jungle trekking started from there.
The house was small, we had a bed and a fan. We had the house with the direct bathroom connection. The room was clean and the showers with the cool water were good! (There is no hot water anywhere in the village)
It was especially great to sit together with the staff in the communal area in the evening, playing games, talking or singing.
The food in the accommodation was very tasty and not too spicy!
After our jungle trekking, we were able to have our laundry washed easily and cheaply at the accommodation.
All the staff were super nice, helpful and funny at all times.
We felt completely at ease!
- Vincent (8/5): Brian, Satiah and Gilang, thank you for the memorable Jungle Trek in Bukit Lawang! - Brian and his staff are very kind and welcoming. If you are planning to do a jungle trek, this is a perfect accomodation. At first we were a bit shocked by the price of the jungle trek (2.600.000 rupia for 2D1N per person), but after asking around it seemed like a reasonable price.
As for the accomodation, there is a nice common seating area, where you can have breakfast, lunch & dinner and chat with other tourists.
The room itself is alright. The beds are clean and our room had its own shower. Although there was no warm water, it was alright for us. Maybe it would be good to provide bed linnen in the rooms, instead of the pluche covers for a cleaner feel. :)
- Wilmar (10/5): Perfect place and staf for your stay in Bukit Lawang. - The location is great, within walking distance of the shops and the river. Close to the jungle, you can see the monkeys playing in the jungle next to the resort.
Brian and his team do everything to make you have the best experiance.
They arranged transport from and to Medan for a good price.
The food on site is excellent! And in the evening they even played live acoustic music, even when there were just 2 guests.
The Jungletrek was also very well organised.
They go the extra mile to make sure to spot the Orang Oetangs, we saw about 20 including the Alpha-male.
No doubt 10/10! Would stay there again with pleasure. Nothing, ik is just great!
- Dominic (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic guest house. We actually saw Thomas Leaf Monkey's in the garden on our arrival : )
Brian & Sarah were fantastic. Very welcoming and helpful, as were the whole team.
The jungle trek (we did 2D1N) was incredible. We saw so many animals. The guides, Jerry & Gunar were brilliant and loads of fun too. Plus the food provided during the trek was delicious. Highly recommend using these guys. N/A
- Andreas (10/5): Exceptional - If you're looking for a trekking experience that leaves you feeling like you've not only experienced the jungle, but also had an experience with friends, I can only recommend Thomas Monkey Leaf. We had a lot of fun, terima kasih. Gunawan and Sattiya were really great! :)
- Amanda (10/5): Really good - The people at Thomas Leaf Monkey are very friendly and kind which made our stay even better.
- Juliana (10/5): Unforgettable experience! - Amazing hospitality, service and 3 day trekking! I started communicating with Sarah months before with questions on the weather and trekking and she was always accommodating even when i hadn't booked anything! A few months later I finally booked a stay and everything was organised very well from the airport pickup to my room to an amazing 3 day trek with the best guides SUGI and SATRIA! I didn't want to be pressured on the hike which can happen when you're with a group of younger, more fit and more 'aggressive' hikers. So Sarah's husband paired me up with a couple who wanted to take their time and we were the perfect match! Our guides made sure we were safe, well fed, comfortable and we got to see soooo many animals - core memories - MADE! Nothing
- Klemen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - My partner and I stayed 1 week at the Sumatra Thomas Leaf monkey guesthouse and it is by far the highlight from all of our travels. All of the staff are so friendly and inviting and make you feel like family. They all go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. The accomodation is located just a short walk from town making everything easily accessible.
We booked our trek with them also. We did the 2 nights and 3 day trek and were led by knowledgeable guides who customised the trek to our needs. We seen many orangutans, various monkeys, hornbills and other stunning wildlife. We are vegetarian and all the meals were delicious.
Best of all the guides are passionate about the health and protection of the jungle and take all ethical measures seriously.
We also booked a day trip through them to see the one of the largest flowers in the world. It was an experience that we will not forgot.
It was an incredible experience!!! Highly recommend to anyone looking to visit Bukit Lawang.
- Florian (10/5): Exceptional - The owner was really helpful with everything and communication was easy (his english is really good). The last day, he organised us a taxi within a few minutes, for a fair price, what we appreciated. The Guesthouse is really small: only three bungalows. Even if Bukit Lawang is really touristy, we didn‘t feel like that. You need to be aware that the guesthouse is next to the jungle. So the bathroom facilities are very minimal. If you want to get a hot shower, the staff heats water in a bucket for you. But there‘s really nothing negative.
- Ichiro (8/5): Very good - A guide Mr. Manto was nice, quite cooperative.
- Angelika (9/5): Amazing hosts & tour guides, cosy guesthouse with good food and an incredible jungle trekking experience. If you wan - Brian, Sarah and the whole team are the nicest hosts. They do everything to make you feel comfortable. The Homestay is simple but really nice, cosy and has a nice very family vibe.
I booked my stay and the jungle trekking REALLY spontaneously and with short nice and they went beyond to make everything work for me.
Also the jungle trekking was amazing. I did 3 days and two nights and really enjoyed it. Rosyid, Gunawan and Manto were such nice guides and made our tour unforgettable. We had the best time, amazing food, saw lots of monkeys and orangutans and felt safe all the time. This crew is really amazing.
- Imi (10/5): Amazing jungle trek and accommodation! - Brian and his wife were so lovely and the jungle trek was amazing! We also did a cooking class with them which was so fun!
- Mel (6/5): Good value for money and cheeky monkeys stole my breakfast - Friendly staff, good food, loved the monkeys Room was very hot and no mosquito net
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great time at the guesthouse. Brian is a great host and is mindful of his community and the environment. He invests in those who have need of it. We arranged our jungletrek through Brian and had a great time spending two nights on the jungle with Brosit and the guys. We lacked nothing and learned a lot about the animals we saw. Great experience!
- Corrigan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (9/5): Amazing stay and Trek - The owner Brian and his wife Sarah are fantastic hosts. Very nice, welcoming and give great attention to their guests. Our stay at the guesthouse was super. Very nice little cabines, with nice garden where monkeys come and play in the evening. Beds were comfortable and clean.
We booked a 2 days 1 night trek in the jungle with them, and let me tell you, it was absolutely fantastic!! Our guides were the BEST! We had such great time with them in the jungle, they gave us plenty of explanation, always on the lookout for our safety and wellbeing, looking out for animals... In the evening at the camp we had nice chats and had fun playing some games. They were very attentive to our pathe of walking, gave us great food too along the way. We had an amazing time with Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse and Jungle Trek, recommend 100% if you stay in Bukit!! Nothing we did not like.
- Catherine (9/5): Wonderful to experience Indonesian animals, plants and culture. - Brian and Sarah will make sure you have everything you need while you stay with them in Bukit Lawang. They will organize whatever tour you would like for however long you would like with the best guides and staff for you so you have everything you need to have fun on your adventure. Brian and Sarah are extremely knowledgeable for all things jungle trekking, nature sightseeing, plants, animals and more. Some options including day and overnight jungle trekking to see orangutans, water rafting, and trips to see the bat cave.
- Ania (10/5): Exceptional - The owners plus the tour guides were awesome
- Amanda (10/5): Best hosts ever!! - I liked everything so much that I extended an over-night stay to a week-long stay!!
Owners Brian and Sarah went out of their way to make sure that I was comfortable, fed, entertained and just generally smiling. Each member of staff was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Brian was able to organize my jungle trek, laundry upon returning, a lovely day trip to a hidden river spot, and transport to my next destination! A true one-stop-shop!!
I really enjoyed hanging out in the garden, swinging/reading in the hammock, watching the passing goats, chickens, and of course some Thomas Leaf monkeys.
The wifi was really good and I found the little dining/hang out area perfect for working on my laptop but also meeting and being social with other guests. I didn't mind it at all, but I am sure some might not be the biggest fans of karaoke... Please be forewarned that the people of Bukit Lawang love karaoke (everyone except for Brian and Sarah)!!
But I'd say that you are gonna hear the sounds of karaoke ringing throughout the river valley no matter where you stay. We could even hear it in the jungle during our trek!
With that said... If you can't beat them, you might as well join them!! 🎶🧑🎤🎤
- Tanja (10/5): Exceptional - Brian and Sara are very nice and friendly hosts. They take care about everything you need. We also booked the jungle tour with them which was great! The food is also very good!!
- Janhvi (7/5): Good -
- Katerina (10/5): Exceptional - the breakfast at the accommodation was tasty, you choose and the cook prepares it
just me and hubby went on a 4 day jungle trek with 2 guides and it was fantastic
we saw about 11 orangutans, thomas monkey
the guides took care of us all day, we felt like kings
when booking accommodation, write them a message that you are interested in the trek and that's it :) noise at the accommodation - motorbikes, disco, karaoke, but it wasn't so bad (this noise is everywhere in Bukit Lawang)
sometimes you can hear it even in the jungle - but the accommodation can't do anything about it
- Matthias (10/5): Exceptional - Bryan is a really knowledgeable (ask him about the jungle, he has great stories), positive and cool guy. His friends, family and him will make sure that you have a nice stay in the cozy jungle hub of Bukit Lawang. The food at the Guesthouse is excellent and the vibe is very good and relaxed .
The jungle trek is lead by Rosit aka the magician! Just like Bryan, he has real love for the jungle and its animals. He's a great team of guides working together for Thomas Leaf. On top of that, Rosit can show you magic tricks, love his enthusiasm.
You can also do a tour in the area to see how Tempeh, Tofu and Brown Sugar are made and you will stop at a some other places with the nice guidance of Ponido (sorry if the name is not totally correct 😅). I can really recommend it!
- Juan (8/5): nice stay near the jungle - rooms are nice, the garden, breakfast, the owner and rest of the stuff are quite nice and help you a lot with everything. not a problem with the accommodation but with Indonesia (muslim areas) which are quite noise. Its a pity you are in the middle of the nature and be hearing that music/prays so loud
- Jordy (9/5): Superb - We had a amazing 2 day jungle trekking
Great stay with good breakfast
- Omar (10/5): Amazing trip - Words could not describe how amazing was our experience. Since we arrived, Bryan welcomed us with a very big smile and kindness. The food, the location, the room, everything was perfect and way beyond our expectations. The jungle trekking with the staff of Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey was anonther level of perfection. Rachid and Gunawan were more than professional and helpful during the whole trip, big thanks to them. The trek was wonderful, the food also was so delicious , the lunch and the dinner in the camp where we had a special member of the team who cooked for us traditional dishes. We highly recommend both the guesthouse and the trip in the jungle with this super team. Thank you a lot for this lifetime memorable experience.
- Margareth (7/5): Good -
- Chloe (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation is basic but perfect for a quick rest before or after the jungle trek.
The jungle trek itself was a great adventure - we were lucky enough to spot lots of orang utans and a bunch of other wildlife, and had a great time with our 2 guides (special thanks for their Indonesian lessons!). Big shout out also to the chef, we were so well-fed with the most delicious food every evening!
- Celine (10/5): Exceptional - Brian and Sarah were so lovely. They also went above and beyond with the service. They helped me arrange transport to Bukit Lawang and to Lake Toba. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. There is also an express laundry service too which is brilliant for after the trek if you need to leave the next day.
The guides were also super friendly and everyone was very genuine and had a good sense of humour. Absolutely rate this place. Nothing. Obviously you are going to the jungle so don't be expecting the Ritz. But this is part of the adventure. If you go with the flow then you will have a special authentic experience.
- Sophie (10/5): Amazing - What I’ve loved the most is the people.
We had a great moment in the place but also had a wonderful moment in the jungle trek with Brian’s team. I can only recommend and already did. Our guides Mas Ponidi and Bang Gunawan took really good care of us, make us laugh and are very respectful of the jungle and animals (very important to me), we had the best meals in the jungle thanks to Bang Yong. You can go eyes close.
Again thank you for everything to Brian, his wife and his team. Nothing , enjoy the jungle (:
- Simon (9/5): Bintang in Lawan - The staff was super friendly and were able to help with everything. Location is great, only 10 min walk to the river and into the jungle. We did the countryside tour where we learned a lot about the local people and the day after we did a jungle trek and saw the black gibbon and 2 orangutan!
- Hdjekenw (10/5): Awesome stay!! - We loved our stay at Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse! The staff has been super nice and were ready to go beyond and above in order to make our stay comfortable. We had a great time speaking with the staff, the food was awesome and the accomodation was super relaxing. It is a bit outside the tourist centre which makes it a really authentic place to stay. We loved everything about Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse!!
- Shota (8/5): Great time in the jungle - Owner and staff are very nice and helpful. I went to jungle trekking with 3 staffs and 3 tourist including me. Ronsit the main guide loves his home jungle and has deep knowledge about the jungle. He kept us entertained with amazing magic tricks after the wonderful dinner cooked by the chef Manto. Also Foi the support guide is so very nice and he helped us all the time. Thanks to them I saw about ten orang utan and lots more other livings. This is going to be a lifetime memory. I sometimes felt a little bit puched by what the guide say and the words on a billboard at the guesthouse. It seemed they don't really like a quiet person.
- Shaun (10/5): Amazing stay and Jungle Tour - The guesthouse was amazing, and the owners and staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The owner Brian and his Wife Sarah were very kind and helped arrange our transport to Bukit Lawang and our jungle tour. Rositt and his team who took us for the jungle tour were amazing and we had an unbelievable time. They explained lots to us about the jungle and the animals we seen. The food was delicious Indonesian home cooked food and lots of fresh fruits. They made our time truly special in the jungle where we saw many Orangutang’s! I recommend everyone to stay and book their tour through this guesthouse you will not regret it.
Thank you very much and we look forward to returning one day :)
- Joe (10/5): Wonderful small and affordable guesthouse in BL. Pandi made my stay special and memorable! Unfortunately I only had 1 ni - Friendly staff and cute spot. Delicious food and flexible tour options. No hot water and no AC, but neither were a problem and price is appropriate. Noise on Saturday nights but not bad unless you are a light sleeper.
- Nadine (9/5): Superb - The bungalows are super cute! The hosts are lovely, speak excellent English, and organised a pick-up from the bus station. You can get some food and drinks at the guesthouse for cheap, and the walking street is not far. Room and bathroom are kept clean. Basic room, but comfortable. Only three bungalows, so it can be booked out very fast! Booked the 2D/1N trek here, but after talking to other travelers, I found out it can be booked for cheaper elsewhere, which was a bit of a bummer since I was on a budget and the tour was already quite expensive for Asian standards.
- Chris (8/5): Very good - really cute little jungle huts. Brian was super nice and helpful! since it’s directly above the street you hear the motorbikes and cars. the showers aren’t great and only cold.
- Mikey (9/5): Superb - Great hosts Brian and Sarah! They really care about the guests and checking them every hour were they are so you can be picked up at de Bukit Lawang Busstation. Make sure you have a Indo simcard or e-sim so you can keep in touch with Sarah. The beds are nice and the food is great! Taste the Ayam Smoor there! Also the trekkings they offer with guide Mester are great en fun! When you look for a place were you get value from your money, go to this place. Nothing.
- Teresa (10/5): Perfect stay - The rooms are very clean and the stuff is very helpful. They help with organising tours and transfer. I did the 3 days jungle hike and it was amazing! I had a tour with the tour guide Rosit and Uman and Alit. It was amazing! We saw lots of animals and had nights filled with magic tricks and delicious food. I can only recommend it.
- Jeanette (9/5): Superb - Bryan is a great host. His huts are basic, but absolutely great for everyone seeking a little adventure. He made sure I was really comfortable and even took me to the ATM, which is in the next village (bring enough money to Bukit Lawang!). Bryan is very active in animal conservation, so Booking a tour with him is a really good idea. He and his team really respect the animals. I had a wonderful time! .
- Liesbeth (8/5): Highly recommended, would definitely come again. - Nice people, lovely quiet and green spot. Nothing too fancy, but definitely good value for your money.
They arranged the most amazing 3D/2N jungle trip for just the 4 of us, with a very family-friendly, eco-minded and non smoking (!) guide crew. Ask for Ponidi and his team! Could do with bigger blankets :-).
- Nicole (7/5): Good place to stay - Great place to stay for less money. The staff was super friendly
- König (10/5): Exceptional - The people at the guesthouse were the nicest, warmest people I've ever met in a guesthouse. No matter what u need Brian will be there to help you to organize everything also they provide really good and really cheap food and drinks for you and make you feel welcome as it can be. I'm really sad to leave and looking forward to coming back one day. Big thank you to Brian, his wife and all the other lovely people working there.
- Mick (9/5): Superb - Brian & Sarah were great hosts. We booked the jungle trek (3D2N) via them and it was amazing, Alex was a great guide. Great place to stay before and after your jungle trek. Good food as well.
- Chantal (9/5): Superb - Great guesthouse with lovely hosts. Brian and Sarah do a great job. The guesthouse is very well located and has a beautiful garden where you can even see Thomas Leaf Monkeys. The little cabins are equipped with the basics and all have their private bathroom (jungle style). Everything is clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast joyce is basic. They also serve dinner which was tasty too.
Brian also has his own trekking company and organized a 2 day/1 night jungle trek for us. This was a great experience. Our guides Ponidi and Erpin were very knowledgeable not only about the Orang Utans but also about the flora and fauna of the jungle in general. They also made sure that the jungle and its inhabitants are respected and nothing is left behind. Would have been great if there were more options and also fruit available for breakfast.
- Savina_k (9/5): Superb -
- Fatima (10/5): Exceptional - it was an amazing stay, Brian and his colleagues helped us plan a great jungle trip that we will remember forever he picked me up and cooked us breakfast at 5am he was very caring for everyone it was just fantastic
- Miguel (6/5): Pleasant -

- Gijs (10/5): Amazing people, amazing accommodation. Go here for an amazing experience. - Our stay at this guesthouse was AMAZING! We arrived in the middle of the night, which was no problem. Our host (Brian) was waiting for us to help us to our room. Brian and his wife run this place and they are the best. The level of kindness of these people is through the roof, something we haven’t experienced a lot in Europe before. At some point we had to go to the ATM, so Brian drove one of us to the nearby ATM on his motorcycle (20 minutes away). Unfortunately the ATM was empty, so we did a wire transfer.
At Brian we also booked a 3-day trip to the jungle. We went with a group of 8 people in total, and 3 guides. These guides were amazing aswell. Ponidi, Mawan and Sukur were born in the jungle. They cared more about our safety, than their own safety. They’ve shown us so many interesting things about the jungle, and they are the most excited of the whole group when we spot a monkey. For us everything was great. It’s a beautiful accommodation with great people. You do need to keep in mind that you are in a small village in Sumatra. It’s good to keep in mind that there is no warm water, however that is normal in Bukit Lawang.
