Guest Reviews
- Jessica (9/5): Highly recommend - Beautiful house and location. Fabulous neighbours very helpful. Brilliant easy parking. Everything you need is here. The yard/patio is lovely. Its spacious and pretty much perfect.
The cleaning staff are fantastic and did an amazing job. The shower is brilliant. Its just delightful Communication to gain access to the property could have been smoother and easier but not a massive problem. There are no mirrors in the bedrooms. That's the only flaw. We would have preferred more mirrors
- Gray (10/5): This is the second time we have stayed here & would highly recommend it x - Great location , free parking , spacious and clean NA
- Rachel (9/5): Great location, close to the harbour & beach - Fantastic central location, plenty of space in the property
- Jenny (9/5): Great base for our short stay. - Location perfect for access to boat trips, lovely sandy beach and the town's amenities. Close to other local attractions such as Bamburgh Castle. Spotlessly clean, modernised and very well equipped house. There were just 2 of us but would be great for a family of 4/5 too. Plumbing could do with some attention (clanking noise when running taps sometimes). A non-slip mat for in the bath would be useful for safety reasons. We used the bus service to get around the area, but buses are infrequent and not always reliable so ideally a car is needed.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - Clean and comfortable. Very close to harbour and beach and shops. No problem parking directly outside, 2 parking places. Only one small problem, couldn't find a can opener.
- Nicola (8/5): Very good - Location was excellent. Parking available. The house was of a good standard. Would have liked a mirror in the bedrooms and tablets for the dishwasher
- Stuart (8/5): Our second visit to this property and would recommend - Location is excellent. Very clean and tidy
- Gray (10/5): The location was perfect , the home was comfortable and felt like home from home . - The house was spotless and had everything we needed , it even had an air fryer ! N/A
- Stuart (8/5): Lovely stay in the village ideal for children and dogs, would stay again - Great location in the village, perfect for the dogs. Dryer didn’t work on the washer dryer
- Julie (10/5): Great stay & would go back again - Absolutely great stay, was a perfect location The only thing was the bathroom window didn’t open & when there was 4 adults showering the steam was running down the walls,
- Dawn (9/5): Beautiful home from home. - Booking.com said someone would meet us at property, but it was actually a key code we needed! Every thing was catered for, we had no problems at all.
- Jason (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay here. Excellent property, location and also weather! - House is very well appointed and was spotlessly clean, excellent outside space at the rear of the property. Location couldn't be better right in the heart of things at the harbour, easy access to the beach, but in a small cul-de-sac so no passing traffic. Nothing to fault!
- Marcus (8/5): Good value spacious accommodation in a good location. - Very spacious and comfortable. The location very close to the centre of Seahouses was excellent. Really nice spacious bathroom Only one thing I’d say didn’t like the rest are more things we would have liked to see different.
In the kitchen the selection of knives was pretty random, they are all blunt and there was no bread knife. Not sure how many people use a boning knife more than a bread knife.
On the description it says there is a “coffee machine” which turned out to be a one cup cafetière. The heating is air sourced heat pump which is still unusual in the uk and there were no instructions on how to use it.
No mirrors in the bedrooms.
No extractor in the bathroom and the window doesn’t open so it got pretty steamed up after 4 adults had used it.
- Gordon (8/5): It was nice relaxing weekend. - Nicely furnished and in a good location Nothing.
- Sherron (10/5): One of the best holiday lets we have stayed in over the years. Very convenient for the high st and getting around the ar - The property is renovated to a very high standard, home from home, perfect.
Very convenient for the high street. Nothing to dislike. Perfect.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional - The house is a home from home. As soon as we stepped inside we felt at ease. And the location is perfect 2 minute walk into town.
- Julie (10/5): Seahouses break - The house was clean, tidy and comfortable. In a very quiet location even though it was in the middle of the town. Ideal location for walking and visiting other places. Check in was between 3.00pm and 10.00pm according to the email I received. We arrived at 3.30pm to find the cleaner still there and the house no where near ready for us. The cleaner spoke no English and couldn't understand us when I said we had booked the house, she then proceeded to video call someone else who didn't really understand us, I did show our booking confirmation. In the end we gave up, headed out for a walk and went back 2 hours later to find it finished. We got up Saturday morning to find the work top in the kitchen covered in water, the cleaner must have switched the counter top freezer off and it had defrosted overnight. Not a great start to our break, the rest of the weekend was great.
- Stephen (10/5): Excellent location - Location is the big draw and the freedom to just relax as the space is excellent. It's the 2nd time we've stayed their within a few months, and the little problems that obviously need fixing are still there. The squealing of the pipes, for example.
- Jane (9/5): Lovely house ideal location. Clean and comfortable and would be perfect if the previously mentioned noisy tap was fixed. - The property is in an ideal location for the town centre, harbour and shops and restaurants Nothing other than the previously mentioned noisy plumbing /tap
- Amanda (10/5): Good location - It was very clean and near to town. It was comfortable. There was a huge TV in the living room. The plumbing was very loud.
- James (9/5): Great property, great location in a lovely little seaside town. - Lovely house with everything you could possibly need. Perfect location to the restaurants, shops, pubs and harbour. Neighbours were lovely and very friendly.
- Amanda (9/5): Superb - Fantastic location. Able to walk to beach and local amenities. Local people were very friendly. It was close to all the places we wanted to visit. Host responsed quickly to the issues identified early on. Not dislikes but some suggestions from us - perhaps supply a few more mugs (only 6); placemats to protect the table from hot plates; hooks in bathroom; maybe a mirror in the bedrooms?
- Helen (6/5): Pleasant - Location. Comfy beds. Modern bathroom Main oven didn't work. We had bought a big joint to roast. Had to move to small oven which wasn't very good either.
Living room could do with a spruce up.
Quilts way to warm for time of year. Had to remove quilt and just use the cover
- Liz (9/5): Lovely well kept, comfortable modern house, convenient for local amenities and harbour - A lovely, clean, well furnished quiet house. spacious with room to store everything for a holiday. Very convenient for Seahouses attractions, with good parking outside, very comfy beds and well stocked kitchen. The property we felt needed another bathroom/loo but appreciate the difficulty and expense of fitting one, the plumbing (taps in bathroom and kitchen were very noisy) sounds like air in the pipes, when someone is using the shower upstairs kitchen taps make a horrendous noise.
- Nicole (8/5): Excellent property, ideal for our border collie. Location was so central with parking right outside -
- Christine (8/5): Really enjoyed our stay as plenty of places to visit. - Location was brilliant and the property was comfortable and spacious. Great to have plenty of coat pegs and places for shoes at the door. Neighbours very friendly and informative about the area. Only one toilet but that was my fault for picking it. As we were four adults a separate toilet to the bathroom would have helped us.
- Stuart (8/5): Excellent location and very clean. Would definitely recommend. - Running the shower makes a loud vibrating noise throughout the house. Also one of the shower hoses cannot be adjusted because it’s broken so you have to hold it whilst showering which is not ideal.
- Hytham (9/5): Superb -
- Barri (9/5): Superb - The location was fantastic, we were 5 minutes from the quayside, restaurants, shops and other amenities. Everywhere we wanted to visit on the trip was no more than 30 mins drive from the location. The neighbours were very welcoming and always said hello when we saw them. Would highly recommend this property to stay in if visiting Northumberland. Everything was perfect.
- Peter (6/5): Good location but property let down by its fixtures/fittings/ancillary items and poor support - Excellent location next to the centre of town, but in a quiet secluded area, within easy walking distance of the shops, pubs restaurants and harbour. It was useful to have a parking spot outside the house. The house itself was surprisingly large with a good sized patio area to the rear. Friendly neighbours. I was given the wrong code for the keybox which caused a lot of frustration. Tried phoning the owner using the number provided by Booking.com but it would not receive incoming calls. Sent messages via text and the Booking.com e-message system but these were also not responded to (I did not receive a reply through the whole of my stay!). Not a good start. I thought I had been scammed. It turned out the code that was on the key box when we arrived was the correct one (luckily we remembered what it was) and the key had actually been unsecured on arrival.
On entering the property there was a smell of fresh paint which was encouraging given the description. However, we soon discovered not everything was ok. Having gone back through the reviews on Booking.com, I am not sure when it was last renovated as the same situation appeared to apply in reviews from 2021.
On settling into the property it was noted that the house was cold. There was no information pack so we had to work out where the heating controls were and how to operate them. In addition, it appeared there was a lack of pressure in the central heating system and the radiators in the bedrooms on the upper floor needed bleeding.
We soon found that it was difficult to use the cold and hot water taps together without causing significant water hammer problems. This was also sometimes the case when using the shower. We found it best to use one at a time and turn taps slowly.
In the lounge, the covers to the main settee and chair were in need of cleaning. I also fixed the clock so that the hands did not slip and lose time.
In the kitchen, there was a curious mix of crockery and cutlery and some items were in limited supply. The plates and bowls all looked well used and marked.
Overall, although the property was comfortable enough, the experience was marred by the plumbing problems, a general need to update and maintain the fixtures, fittings and ancillary items and a lack of support by the owner.
- Stephen (8/5): Great location. House could be excellent with a bit of care. - The location can not be beat, and everything is on the doorstep. Also, having parking outside is a massive plus.
Beds are comfortable, and the garden in the summer will be brilliant. I don't want to criticise because we all had a lovely trip. But if I'm being constructive, then the property needs to sort out its repairs quickly. Otherwise, is rating will suffer
The plumbing isn't the best, and when someone has a shower upstairs, the taps in the kitchen bang like a pneumatic drill. Also, although the temperature is ok, the flow in the shower could be better. The fact that there's no bath mat makes it a bit slippy as well.
When we arrived, the window in the front bedroom was blown, and we couldn't use the sliding wardrobe as the runner was completely off the door, the cleaning staff couldn't have failed not to see it and it should be fixed not just ignored.
The kitchen has everything you'll need, but the plates have seen better days, and the utensils need sorting as there's too much stuff and a mismatch of random bits of cutlery, glasses, and cups.
I think overall, just a bit of tlc would go a long way, and if they give themselves a bit of time to sort out the little problems, then everything about the place would be an excellent rating
- Mark (9/5): Great stay in a lovely well furnished house in a superb location. - The location was absolutely superb, right by the town centre and harbour yet in a quiet location. A few small things in the kitchen needed some attention.
- Hannah (9/5): Great location, very warm, cosy house. Clean, easy to navigate to with on street parking. -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terence (9/5): Can't wait to go back! - Excellent location. Lovely house, well equipped, lovely neighbours. nothing
- Anonymous (8/5): Lovely holiday accommodation in the best location - Well positioned, spacious home with friendly neighbours. Less than a 3 minute walk from the small harbour beach. Lots of little extras in the house like salt and vinegar. An information pack would have been helpful as no instructions for the dishwasher or washing machine.
- Martin (7/5): Good - Great location and the house was very clean and tidy, the keys were available when we arrived. Room for 2 cars to park as well The mains water makes loud sqealing and vibration noises all through the house when someone uses the shower the wardrobe door is broken in the front double bedroom and needs repairing.
- Diane (10/5): Really enjoyable weekend lovely neighbours and fab accommodation - Really spacious and comfortable Maybe a downstairs toilet would benefit
- Keith (7/5): Lovely stay in Seahouses in a house in the perfect location with good pub food, drink and walks. - Rang host and was given key box code.
Location of property is excellent in the middle of the town 5 mins from pubs, shops, beaches and walks.
People are so friendly. had an issue with a wardrobe door but contacted the host who stated he would sort asap. Don't judge the house by it's front appearance.
- Lynn (9/5): Superb - Location Everything was fine
- Helen (7/5): Clean and quiet, excellent location - Excellent location, very close to the centre of Seahouse and nice and quiet. Parking had been coned off for guests which was brilliant. Very clean property. A tin opener and bread knife would have been handy. As would an out of order sign on the freezer side of the fridge that isn't working (although an alternative countertop freezer was provided).
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and house much bigger than expected
- Rachel (10/5): Fantastic stay thank you - Very clean and comfortable. Had everything you needed Nothing
