• Megan (9/5): Chillest pirate themed little hotel in a cute village away from the hustle and bustle with views - At first glance the hotel listing might seem big and kitschy. In reality, its a cute very chill-vibed hotel with a lovely view of the islands and blue water, access to local beach (not sandy or clear but actually quite swimmable, no waves, locals hang out there too!) as well as boat dock to sit on and enjoy the view. The birds such as parrots were cool to watch at dusk. Free pool table. We had a fridge and microwave, balcony with sofa inside the "cavern". Free tico breakfast was very nice and the dinner was simple but quality too (pepper sauce pork chop and fish). We did LOVE the pirate vibe though and wish we had time to stay longer in the area. Less chaotic than Nosara The shower plumbing needs a service in the romantic room. Just some new seals and washers would make a world of difference.

Booking me decepcionó porque esto es un estafa de lugar, Iba a disfrutar con mis tíos y mi esposo el lugar y no existía la habitación que reservamos, El duelo nos devolvió el dinero, pero luego para buscar un lugar para quedarnos, no encontrábamos, fue una pesadilla. • Kroeker (10/5): M-arrrrrr-velous!!! - The ambience of the resort was incredible. Due to complications in travel plans, we didn't arrive until 10pm. The man working stayed late for us in order to let us in past closing time (we had someone call ahead). After a full day of flights, rental car problems, construction and travel (including an unexpected ferry ride from Puntarenas at the last minute) with 2 girls, 8 and 10 years old, we were feeling exhausted and a little defeated. After all of this, arriving at La Perla felt like magic! The host put the outdoor lights on for us and the girls splashed and played in the cave-pools until almost midnight (luckily, there were no other guests at the time to disturb). They explored all of the little alcoves, finding doors to various rooms up cave-like stairways. The room was so much better than expected, spacious and clean with cool carved bunk beds and 2 double beds as well as a little kitchenette. I can't say much about the area as we had to leave early to catch a 7:30am ferry out, but the resort itself was absolutely fabulous!!! The kids LOVED it and I think it was the favourite room out of our 3 weeks in Costa Rica. It also had it's own little outdoor terrace with private swimming pool. So cool in every way!

• James (10/5): Fun themed hotel, with great rooms and nice food - This is a great property, with a fun pirate theme. Our room was one of the best during our stay in Costa Rica. The host was friendly and charming. It was a great location, just a few hundred metres from the ferry port. The breakfast and dinner were very good. You can see the bioluminescence in the water after dark, too. I can’t think of any downside, other than the beach is not great, but that’s not what we were looking for, it’s still pretty to look at.

• Martinez (10/5): EXCEPTIONNEL - Vraiment une expérience amusante, dans un site exceptionnel. Les aménagements Pirates des Caraïbes sont magnifiques. Nous sommes sortis en kayak pour voir la bioluminescence, mais ce ne fut pas une réussite, pas assez de vagues mais cela reste une très belle expérience. Merci au Monsieur qui nous a emmené. Le dîner et le petit déjeuner étaient excellents. Allez y passer une nuit. L embarcadère pour Puntarenas est à 5mn. Génial. Rien . Le séjour a été très agréable et les lits étaient confortables

• Ramona (8/5): - Das Hotel ist ein absolutes Unikat. Der Besitzer hat es mit viel Liebe zum Detail gebaut. Das Essen war lecker und das Frühstück ausreichend. Für unsere Kinder war der Pool Klasse, er wurde noch ordentlich in Beschlag genommen, bevor wir weiter gereist sind. Die Zimmer waren von der Größe her für uns als vierköpfige Familie sehr gut. Nachts hat hinter der Wand an der Außenseite die Klimaanlage so dermaßen gebrummt, dass an Schlaf für uns Erwachsene kaum zu denken war. Wir hatten die Klimaanlage in unserem Zimmer extra ausgestellt, jedoch lief die Hauptklimaanlage für das Gebäude? weiter. Man hat die Vibration im Bett gespürt. L'accès direct à la mer et à la baie de Puntarenas est une merveille au sunset ! Les enfants ont adoré les pirateries, piscine et pêcher depuis le ponton. L'hôtel est vieillissant et manque un peu d'amour... mais l'esprit chaleureux du personnel vous le fait oublier !

• Juan Carlos (8/5): Bien - Tiene un ambiente familiar y había pocos huéspedes, bien para los huéspedes, mal para el negocio. La ubicación está bien dado que tiene una playa casi privada de forma cecana. No hay Wifi, no hay televisión en las habitaciones, las habitaciones están descuidadas y no hay actividades adicionales en el lugar, música en vivo, actividades para niños, entre otros, de esta forma podrían existir más clientes en el lugar. Además, no hay un buen control de las reservas, cuando llegué no se sabía como estaba el tema con mi reserva.

Man kan boka båtturer ut till öppet hav och se delfiner eller till flodområdet och se krokodiler eller ut till öarna fulla av spider monkeys. Ett väldigt uppskattat inslag på vår resa.

Se dio un problema con la reserva, no se si con booking o con el hotel, pero tuve que cambiar de habitación porque a la fecha de la reserva ya no había cupo, pero en booking la reserva si se hizo, hablé directamente al hotel y pude reservar una habitación que no me gustaba tanto, pero es lo que había. una semana antes de la fecha de la reserva me llamaron para decirme que no había campo con booking y yo les recordé que llamé directamente al hotel para reservar la habitación que quedaba, Entonces ya no me siento tan segura de usar la aplicación, me parece que no están debidamente comunicados con el hotel.

• Cayan (3/5): Totaler Reinfall - - Gefallen hat uns wirklich nichts. Aufgrund des Piraten Themas sind wir hin. Die Bewertungen können nicht echt sein. Lautes Motorengeräusch die ganze Nacht, duschen nur mit kaltem Wasser, der Pool eine kleine Fütze, selbst die Kinder wollten da nicht rein. Es ist eher eine Bar als Restaurant. Die Zimmer sind stark veraltet und für diesen Preis gibt es deutlich bessere, ruhigere Unterkünfte in direkter Nähe. Wir haben 2 Nächte gebucht und sind nach der ersten Nacht abgereist. Ihr wurdet gewarnt.

• Katherine (10/5): Weird and wonderful with lots of wildlife - We booked this last minuteto break up a long drive and we knew it would be our favorite place the moment we saw it. The staff is friendly and the food is good, the property itself is AMAZING. The rooms are huge and comfortable and there are surprises around every corner. So many beautiful murals and sculptures, so much creativity and thought went into it! My nine-year-old had a blast in the pool. And the area itself is beautiful with tons of wildlife. There are iguanas, parrots, and a very active butterfly garden in the yard and we could hear howler monkeys not far away. I really wish we had longer. If we come to CR again this will be the first place we book! Everything was perfect

The mattress was old and I could feel its springs or inside parts and there wasn’t even a mattress pad between the mattress and sheets. The pillows were also in poor condition.

• Adelfye (10/5): Perfect family fun. - Captain Travis was an incredible host. Facilities were unique and perfect for the family. A must do is his all day tour. It was by far, the highlight of our trip. The Family fed monkeys, caught fish, toured isla San Lucas and ended the day with a perfect lobster roll off the beach.

The pillows on all beds looked very questionable. We used our own towels to sleep on. The bedroom did not have AC it was extremely hot to sleep

Travis took us out in the nice old life boat 'Nicoya Queen'. Went to the prisoner island and Travis made the best lobster we've ever had. Thanks :) The breakfast is excellent. Nice traditional Tico breakfast or best: Travis' special egg benedict! Not to forget: You can also borrow canoes and go on a trip yourself. Island cruise with Travis, and bioluminate at night, right besise ferry easy to find and close to ammenities.. 5 star private beds and pillows super comfortable and clean. Food is great at restruaunt and kitchen in rooms are super convienant.
• David (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic vibe! Huge open sided bar/restaurant area. The rooms are pirate themed! Travis was so helpful. We went on a night kayaking tour, saw loads of wildlife including some small crocs! You can also tour the islands with Travis on his boat. Great welcome and great value. A hidden gem.

Great little pool on our deck. I think this is the only room with a pool. The location is perfect. We were comingfrom Manual Antonio to Nosara. La Perla Negra was nestle right in the middle of the long drive. I truly hope I can make it back and see all the projects Travis is working on. 10+ for everything. Food, atmosphere, location, comfort, price....you name it.
